Hack & Hop has been one of the frequent after work watering holes however it has gone downhill over the last few years. It has a nice upstairs area that can be booked for small private events. Food: The menu has become a lot more limited and my favourite pork belly is no longer an option. Drink: Like the food, the Hack & Hop used to have a drinks board with a range of different craft beers on tap. Nowadays the selection is much more limited with the same beers that are at all the other nearby pubs. Service: Generally good although can be hit and miss depending on how busy it is. Price: Hack & Hop has always been slightly more expensive than other nearby pubs. This used to be compensated for the different selection of beers on tap but is now a slightly overpriced version of any other pub. Conclusion: Still a good solid pub and a great place to get a pint. It is slightly pricier than other nearby pubs but it is also a bit quieter which can make for a more enjoyable experience.

I’m fortunate enough to work around the corner from this place so a bit biased. However that being said best pub in London. Food, service, staff (big up Liam and Stan) all excellent. A local pub in London that feels more like home than home - especially right now. You have to have a hack and hot .

The food wasn't what I was expecting, the Yorkshire puddings were so dry and it was all just a below average. The prices were more than advertised online! The service was horrific, I can’t believe they have the audacity to add service charge. Everything was made to feel like were were an inconvenience and they were too busy to service us. There are far better places for food and much friendlier staff.

My SO and I had made a reservation via email for a 4pm Sunday roast a few weeks prior to our trip to London. Unfortunately when we arrived at the arranged time, we were greeted with the restaurant closing and they told us that they didn't have any record of our reservation in their paper books. Later we ended up corresponding with the manger on the original email thread from our reservation request, and they apologized for their mistake (and offered us free food!). However, we didn't have any time to take advantage of this before we had to head back home. So I can't review the food, but was obviously not overall happy with the organization and service. Hopefully they will modernize their reservation system so this doesn't happen again.

Visited the pub for a family meal for my husbands birthday. As non-Londoners I left the choice to my brother & cousin who recommended the pub. We all chose the Sunday roast which was fantastic. The portions were more than generous, getting half free-range chicken which amazing value for money. The atmosphere was great and the staff were really helpful and friendly.

Has best bartender in all London - very friendly and professional Bulgarian bloke. Excellent food, very good beer. Mainly yuppies, but you can avoid them in summer and drink outside. This was our first Sunday roast in London and we absolutely loved it. The food was great, and the atmosphere was casual. There was a young family sitting there, so quite family-friendly. We had the chicken and pork belly - both excellent. The crackling on the pork belly was delightful. Both the Yorkshire puddings and the potatoes were nice and crispy. The gravy was nice, though I could have used more to soak up with the potatoes! The staff were lovely. Wheelchair-accessibility: there's a small (about 1.5 inches) step in front, but it's hard to get in because the pavement in front of the front door is narrow. A normal-sized wheelchair should be fine, but a larger one will struggle. It took me a little while while my power wheelchair, but I got in. There are a few tables downstairs - you might want to book in advance, but it should be fine. The toilets are upstairs (not accessible).

I went to lunch with colleagues and was told that they had run out of the sole vegetarian dish and could not offer any vegan options. I could only eat a plate of chips. Along side this, everyone had finished eating by the time my one colleagues burger arrived. The waiter didn’t appear trained and overall the experience and service was disappointing. My meat eating colleagues did however say that their food was tasty.

On visit to London found this place in a quiet street between Fleet Street and Victoria Embankment. Not far from Blackfriars station. Welcoming friendly pub. Clean and airy. Excellent selection of cask and keg beer. On the Friday afternoon we were there it wasn't crowded and we enjoyed our beers seated by the window. Food selection seemed very good but we weren't there to eat. Although it serves food this is a place that welcomes drinkers. As an unreconstructed Northerner, beef & stout pie with couscous on the menu intrigued me. I'm sure it's delicious. Would definitely go back if passing and would try other pubs run by this small chain.

Visited with a group of friends and we had pre-ordered our mains. When it arrived it was hot and very tasty. The Chicken Pie was full of meat and the sauce had a lovely tang to it. The burgers also went down a treat. Portions were good and everyone seemed pleased with their meal. However what let it down was the time it took to serve the meals. There were 10 of us and 6 meals came up together. There was quite a long wait until another 3 came up. And the poor person who was last didn't get their meal until almost everyone else had finished. The same happened with the desserts - 2 got served along with the coffees, then eventually a 3rd came up, and the 4th finally came up when everyone else had finished. It wasn't busy so no visible reason for the huge delays in service. Really needs sorting out as the food is very good.

The Sunday roast beef served was not fresh. We clearly had slices of beef from 2 or more roasts as some were grey with a smell and taste that you would normally put straight in the bin. I give 2 stars because we were given an alternative meal but it took a long time to arrive and the service was not great.

This place was much smaller than we had expected although there was further dining room upstairs. We opted for the meat feast and received a board holding half a chicken, slices of beef and a large piece of belly pork, with roast potatoes, cabbage, swede and huge Yorkshire puddings. There was also apple sauce, horseradish and a lovely jus. There was plenty of food for 4 people sharing, although one of us has a small appetite. We followed all this with a variety of ice cream. Good food and beer. The burger is a little dry, the steak sandwich and scotch egg are both excellent. Upstairs is nice for a function. The mash seems microwaved and dry but the chips are good. There's usually a barman with long dreads who is really friendly and welcoming. However last time we visited I asked about the special - whether he had the pie and if it was good - the bald man behind the bar told me and my colleagues it was a stupid question and no they only make the pie to give people food poisoning and for customers they don't like. Unnecessary and not great customer service, left a bad impression which is a shame because we regularly take big groups for lunch and pints.

The menu says a roast "with all the trimmings". Apparently this means a couple of roast potatoes and then let's full up the plate with an enormous Yorkshire pudding and a giant mound of some kind of orange gunk, and then cover it all with some green leaves so you don't notice. Where are the parsnips, carrots, peas, etc? I'd even have accepted a few sprouts over a plate 80% full of some kind of pumpkin mash. There are far better options than this, especially at this price.

Located just off Fleet St, its not the sort of place you are likely to stumble on. There are two rooms; the down stairs bar area and an upstairs dining room. On our visit both were packed so booking is probably a must, In the bar there is a mixture of high and normal tables. If you can't handle sitting on high chairs/stools possibly make sure you let them know when you book.Booked to come here in part because of the favourable reviews but mainly as the menu addresses one my regular moans about roasts - why only one meat.Three of us enjoyed a starter and the sharing roast. The portion of the share was good for three would be OK for 4 if people aren't starving. The beef came carved but the other meat you had to deal with yourselves which is a little awkward. The meat and sides were excellent. The roast potatoes were browned but not crispy so a bit of a disapointment. Enjoyed this! Will be back shortly

Ate here with friends and our kids (9 and 7) and really enjoyed it. We had the shared roast and it was delicious. The gravy was especially tasty. Service was very friendly and quick too.

Thanks to all the staff at the Hack and Hop for making everything spot on for my hubby's 40th birthday party. They were so friendly, helpful and fun, and really knew their stuff about their great selection of beers. They catered specially for our mostly vegan/veggie buffet which was much appreciated and truly delicious. We can't recommend them highly enough. Fun night, great place. Really superb!

A good everyday pub. The bar isn't huge, especially on a busy evening but not an issue for lunches when there's a reasonable amount of space - though I would recommend booking. Great range of craft beers. The food menu is pub favourites: steaks, fish and chips, hamburgers, pulled lamb etc. There are fewer vegetarian options but the heritage tomato, mozzarella and quinoa salad is a good bet. Prices are reasonable and service friendly.

I have been here a couple of times. The décor I like and the beers are very reasonable compared to other pubs in the vicinity. I would definitely drink here again.

Just off Fleet Street. Excellent staff, wide range of beers available on cask etc., all clearly marked on the blackboard, with tasters freely provided to get the one you want. Euro 2016 footie on large tv, nice atmosphere and food wise, enjoyed the sharing platters which were great, specially the scotch egg.

Like many of the best places we found this by accident, what more can I say than first rate staff, food & beer, a real gem, loved it

We hired the Hack and Hop on the evening of 21 May for our wedding reception and couldn't be happier with our choice. From the initial arrangements, the staff were incredibly flexible and nothing seemed too much trouble. On the night, everything was exceptional. Stan and Karla went out of their way to make sure everything went smoothly and were helpful, attentive and hugely informative about the beers being served. We ordered platters of food that were served throughout the evening which were both plentiful and of very high quality. Our guests were very happy! A huge thanks to Stan, Karla and Zed for making the evening absolutely perfect.

On entering the restaurant my first impression was it was a Pub not for eating, but the owner showed us to a table and gave us a menu to look at, it had a good choice of food and suitable for all tastes, there are a great selection of beers which seems to be the main attraction with staff who have a vast knowledge of all beer, the food arrived hot and very tasty, and very well presented, staff were busy but took time to askif we werte satisfied and if we needed anything else. I would definately go backto this very homely but proffesionally run establishment

I have visited the Hack and Hop once for drinks and popped in for lunch on another occasion. The lunch was nice - good portion and very tasty. The beer selection was great but the white wine I ordered was a bit iffy (although this isn't the end of the world - it's a beer foccused place)

We booked here for our team Christmas dinner last December and can honestly say it was the best work Christmas meal I think I've ever been to. I normally associate Christmas with below average service, limited choice, and over inflated prices. This was the polar opposite - impeccable service (we all commented on how impressed we were with our waiter, he really was good), fantastic food, perfectly paced courses, and absolutely worth every penny. Impressed.

Lovely little pub, one of a chain of 3 all with the same ethos.Great and diverse beers, lovely really lovely food, and good fun trendy staff. This one is in a side street off the strand and thus, thankfully, not to busy, but still has a good vibe.

Had a late lunch of fish and chips, and great craft beer. This is a cozy place, with big selection of craft beer on tap and bottle. The staff really knew their beers, and gave good recommondations. Good fish and chips, not expensive at all. Love to go here again later in evening when there are more people in.

An excellent pub with good food. I've used the downstairs bar a few times and been to several private functions in the upstairs room - which is an ideal size for informal gatherings. There's is a wide selection of real ales and craft beers, all very well kept, so even the fussiest beer drinker should be catered for. The bar food is good too, with the best scotch eggs I can remember having. Haven't tried full meals though.Good staff, who really know their products and are friendly hosts, make it a place to return to.

A great pub. Good range of beers and quality house wines. Dropped in for Sunday Lunch. Chose the roast.. Couple of us the blade which was promised medium rare and served exactly as promised. Horseradish was tops. The real thing not the sweet stuff some places dish up. Yorkshire pudding perfect and great veggies. The others had pork belly and they were pretty happy with that. A top quality old style roast and a generous serve. A perfect base to head off to the Rugby and a night out.

Not the typical pub with people spilling onto the sidewalk. Almost hidden away on a quiet side road off the Strand in Fleet Street. Best sausage board I have ever had.

went for a few drinks after work with a customer, found a great selection of beers and a nice crowd. loved the Beavertown Gamma Ray on top, but it was just one of an awesome choice. if you like IPAs, and like good food, this is a good spot. among the pretty awful pubs in general around blackfriars and fleet street this pub stands out a mile.

I've found a lot of London restaurants to be mediocre. This place has great food, great British craft beer (sometimes hard to find), and is family friendly (at least on Sunday's). Great all around!

Tiny room, no refrigerator If it were Spain, it would be a maximum of 3 stars.
