Gusto in Manchester

Had Christmas lunch and the food was terrible. No flavour and drier than the Sahara. Service was ridiculous, shouting Salmon! Beef! At us. What was the point of the place names with the food written on it. Barely finished and they told us to drink up and leave and that was 20 minutes before our booking was due to finish. Such an expensive lunch as well. Rubbish. Would give it zero stars if I could.

We returned to Gusto for my daughter’s birthday as in the past have been very happy with food and service. This time the service was as expected but the food has changed for the worse. Looking forward to my usual ragu it came with no meat what so ever and splash of sauce. The garlic bread was dry with not much flavouring. Calling over our waiter he explained that’s how they do it now as customers complained about having meat? I was offered a replacement meal but looking at what others had I didn’t see much point, Sunday roast where the chicken looked fried? Another pasta meal with no sauce and sloppy beef. I can not believe what has happened to the food here. Also every time we have gone to Gusto we also have to ask for the deposit to be taken off the bill when it arrives. You book a table and have to put down a deposit how can staff not know to automatically take this off? Food prices have have gone up and quality down

Good food and deco and service, had Duck was delicious but would of liked a little more mash as it was a tiny portion, the drinks was good and burger was very juice and chips was good too would recommend to anyone visiting Manchester.

An amazing Italian thoroughly enjoyed having our anniversary meal here. Service is kind and fast. The atmosphere is wonderful. I think for the location and price of food it's perfect for a mid scale price range will be coming back

Visited with my brother few days ago for dinner..food was great and so cocktails which were recommended by our waiter Nick. 5*. Ill be visiting in future again.

Visited earlier today and can honestly say this was the worst meal I have had in a very long time. Ordered the roast Turkey for main and virtually everything on the plate looked like it was cooked last year before being reheated today.

Amazing food, great atmosphere, server Nick very attentive. Great place to come to celebrate special occasions (got a few freebies ;)). Will definitely return.

We had dinner at Gusto the other night and it was absolutely worth the trip. The food was amazing with an incredible atmosphere from the moment you walked in and the service was brilliant, Nick looked after us while we were there and he was always ready at the right time with a smile on his face. I would absolutely recommend this place.

Food was slow to arrive (even though pre-ordered) , starters overcooked , paid extra for chicken which was a single piece smaller than a king prawn. It seems this restaurant cannot do parties / large tables , this is not a good example of an Italian restaurant. With Service charge automatically being added to bill - there is no incentive for service to be good and for a table of more than 15 that is a big tip for doing the the bare minimum. 0 star (if available)

First time eating at a Gusto. I'm vegetarian and tried the vegan steak, which was pretty good. I wish it was a bit wetter/ had more sauce to the dish. However, all of it was delicious and well cooked. I'm not a mushroom person. However, all eaten together, they were manageable. My partner had the meat steak, which they also enjoyed, as they don't like cheese, we had to order a side of fries for them, and I ate their potatoe gratin, which was delicious! Looking online, it seems that there is sometimes a rump option on the menu that comes with fries that he would've preferred. Regardless, we enjoyed all the food we ate. The tomato dough petals for starters were delicious, and I would've loved a cheese version of them and more in the portion. I probably wouldn't have the hummus option again as the bread was weird thin crackers and didn't really see what was Italian about the dish. All the cocktails we had were perfect, and we would happily go back just for them. There did seem to be an issue with them not having cream and chocolate sauce for some of the drinks/ desserts, which wasn't acknowledged, particularly, but again overall this didn't remove too much from the overall taste and experience. Some tables looked quite dark, so bare this in mind if you have vision issues. Although we spent a lot (>£150 for 3 courses + alcohol for two) you could definitely just have water and a nice pizza! We both were super surprised by how nice everything tasted and would love to try their other items another time. Staff were nice. However, service was a bit slow at times for a clearly quiet Sunday, and they did initially forget my partners fries that we ordered specifically because they disliked the potato gratin part of their steak dish. Cute Christmasy decor and friendly staff who were more than happy to make recommendations!

I have dined here twice and it was absolutely fantastic both times. I was celebrating a birthday both times and when the dessert was brought out they had written out happy birthday in chocolate sauce to make it extra special. Our waiter was Josh and he was absolutely brilliant, great energy, very polite and very likeable.

Great service from Beth and atmosphere. Cocktails were great. Food had the potential to be very good but lacked some finesse, possibly due to the size of the restaurant.

We had an incredible dining experience at Gusto and it was all thanks to our amazing server, Davide, From the moment we sat down, they were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Their menu knowledge was outstanding—they gave fantastic recommendations, and every dish they suggested was absolutely delicious. What stood out most was their genuine warmth and ability to make us feel welcome. They anticipated our needs before we even had to ask and handled everything with professionalism and a smile. It's rare to find someone so passionate about providing exceptional service, and Davide truly elevated our visit.

The waiter Josh was brilliant… just wished the mash potato and sauces for the chateaubriand were served warmer as they were a bit tepid.. but very well seasoned and beautifully tender steak.

Regular visiter at gusto, and can never fault the experience, service or the food, the past few visits Josh has looked after me and my friends and we cannot fault his attentiveness, kindness and hospitality as well as his knowledge! He is honestly amazing and an asset to the place, makes our experience that ever so more enjoyable, being chatty and welcoming!! our new go to place for the past few months, always look forward to visiting :)

We got seated straight away considering we hadnt booked (there were 3 of us) Josh was our waiter and a fantastic one he was. Very professional, friendly and knew we were going to a music gig, so he made sure the food was cooked quickly for us but without sacrificing the quality. Would highly recommend

We come in here nearly every week for dinner, the service plus the food has made it into the go to place for a nice time. Wonderful place for a group meal. We ordered online prior and got email confirmations of our selections. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. Loved the fresco with lots of Manchester references including Alan Turing and an enigma machine!

Josh the waiter was absolutely first class. Very knowledgeable, perfectly pitched suggestions and looked after us very well. Food great,venue great, service exceptional.

We had the pleasure of being served by Josh at Gusto Italian, and he truly made our dining experience exceptional. From the moment we sat down, Josh was attentive and friendly, striking the perfect balance between professionalism and warmth. Every detail, from timely drink refills to checking in at just the right moments, showed his commitment to making sure we had a great time. The food was equally impressive. The chicken Caesar salad was crisp and full of flavor, with just the right amount of dressing and perfectly cooked chicken. The meat sourdough pizza was a highlight – the crust was light and crispy, and the toppings were fresh and full of flavor. Josh’s enthusiasm for his work really shone through, and it made us eager to return soon.

Very nice restaurant, but do not order the steaks extremely small portion and the vegan steak it self was just a tiny strip and a couple potatoes. The mocktails are 90% ice. The mocha was not even mixed properly. I was not asked how my food was and the waiter seemed very disinterested. 12.5% service charge… for what exactly? Store bought steak and dessert and a glass of ice?

We have had a great meal tonight in Gusto. We both had the Sea Bass which was excellent. It is a smart place. The food and service are great and the atmosphere is always very good. Josh was a great host, friendly and engaging

Difficult to find a place with availability last minute in Knutsford on a Saturday, this was the only place left. We went for the steak experience £105. We know chateaux Briand needs to be cooked medium rare but quite a lot of it was raw, stone cold and inedible, actually hard to cut, when you are paying that much you expect perfection. The plates were also stone cold, big no no for me, and when the steak is barely warm to start this doesn't help. When the waiter asked if all was ok and we told him no it's too rare, he was not interested, I mentioned it 3 times to him. no response. It was tasty but parts were inedible so although we did indeed have an experience it wasn't the one we were expecting. Wine was a nice Ripasso and the shared dessert was also nice.

What an amazing night. White wine Statua was good, Vegan Flank Steak is great. Holly was really nice and Gusto has this good old school vibe.

Good atmosphere with a bit of loud music from my perspective, but enough to enjoy the bar and the restaurant whenever you feel hungry. Great service; the team made the moment in the restaurant enjoyable, and I honestly do appreciate good service in a restaurant—it really should be basic! As for the food, there are a bit of mixed feelings. My carbonara spaghetti was supposedly original, but at that point, I felt like the non-authentic version might taste better. The spaghetti, for example, was a bit thick and not soft enough for my taste. I also tried the pan-fried filet of sea bass, and this was awesomely good. A bit of disappointment on the crème brûlée, as I’m sure it would taste better if it was warm. Overall, the food was neither bad nor excellent. I still recommend giving it a try!

We stopped here for a drink enroute to dinner. We very nearly cancelled and stayed here to eat. The atmosphere devor and staff were all fabulous. Will return to eat. Well done.
