We had a lovely meal as always. Alaska gave us a lovely warm welcome and seated us. Gennaro help us with our food options and was very attentive.

Brilliant atmosphere for lunch. Fantastic allergy menu and advice. Very exciting to be able to have most of the desserts! Will definitely be coming back as we know it’s a safe place to eat for allergy sufferers.

My daughter went with her friends and the waiter scammed them into buying over priced bottled water when they asked for tap water. 4.50 per bottle. Day light robbery because they were youngsters. AVOID. EDIT - the comment from the owner below is a pack of lies.

Disappointing meal on an evening out with my mum. We both ordered the sea bass and decided to add an extra piece of fish to the dish. The fish was served skin side up but not at all crispy which was quite off putting with the slithery texture on view as the main focal point of the dish. I am not a big portion person but even with two pieces of fish this dish was far too small and lacked enough veg or potatoes. Instead of being offered another dish or dessert to apologise the waitress just asked me if I wanted to skim cooked more which would have made the fish dry. Very disappointing and expensive meal for what you get. I would not recommend eating here!

Lovely place especially with the trees with loads of fairy lights. Food was mediocre. Small portions , if it hadn't been for the garlic bread we would of still been hungry. The garlic bread was also a bit dry and bland . The desserts were delicious 😋 though. Service charge which we asked to be taken off and we tipped the waitress instead.

I’ve always enjoyed Gusto, and the food remains absolutely lovely - second to none. However, our most recent visit was a huge letdown due to both the table we were given and the service. We were seated right in front of the kitchen, where the heat was unbearable, and the noise, combined with watching chefs at work, stacks of dirty plates, and constant shouting between staff, made for a very unpleasant atmosphere. It felt like we were shoved to the back as an afterthought. Service was diabolical. We ordered three rounds of drinks - each one had an issue (wrong order, missing drinks, or not following simple requests). Our food was also mixed up, and we were even charged for dishes we never received and hadn’t even ordered, meaning the bill had to be corrected. It took half an hour just to get the bill in the first place. Drinks and food came in dribs and drabs, and while it wasn’t particularly busy, we could see staff chatting rather than focusing on service. Despite the 50% January discount, it felt like we got 50% of the service. I know Gusto is capable of much better, which is why I’m giving three stars instead of less. However, after this experience, I’m unsure if I’d return.

The first thing is the restaurant is gorgeous and decorated lovely and grand. It had a lovely warm atmosphere, the waiter we had was very friendly and efficient. The restaurant was busy but our food came out very quickly and freshly cooked. All food was so tasty and fresh, I had the scallops, garlic bread with tomato and the prawn Arabiata. All was lovely. It was our third visit and won’t be our last.

Wow. Haven’t been for years. Had the Scallops & Chateaubrian. It was amazing. Vuyo and Rebecca looked after us all night. Definitely recommend.

Early evening dinner post-theatre matinee. The arancino was delicious although for the price it's a shame that there was only one. Arrabiata sauce was superb though with the rigatoni plentiful. Josh our waiter was attentive and polite throughout.

What a lovely afternoon we have just had We were served by the lovely Josh. He was friendly charismatic and you could tell Willie enjoyed his job working at gusto. He made a visit really vulnerable by asking questions with a genuine interest He also made some really good recommendations on the food menu that we were happy with My mum chose the card dish, but she doesn’t like lobster bisque or beef flyn and he had these removed and replaced with a special butter sauce I also had the salad, which was really tasty And my sister had the pizza again, absolutely lovely Josh also recommended stick it in pudding which was absolutely to die for he did say it would be the best for sticky toffee pudding. We would taste and he definitely was not wrong. The best thing being Josh coming round personally with a big jug of the sticky toffee sauce to make sure that we definitely had enough nice restaurants I go to give you the tiniest little portion but not here Josh made sure it was perfect We will definitely be back

Food was tasty but food did not match the price. Seabass was the only over done seabass I have ever had- well well done. Very small portion. I left hungry. Service was great (although the waitress recommended the seabass so maybe it was a once off) not worth the money but some nice flavours.

I would have given it 5 but personally for me and its not exactly bad Italian food but its also not the best, the lasagna was absolutely amazing but the meatballs were average and the chicken pasta was even worse. Waiter was amazing and the decor of the place is sublime.

The food was good. We sat on a round table that was elevated and away from the main middle bit of the restaurant, which we liked as it was quieter. It was busy, and our server who attended to us apologised that he wasn't always here for us. Another server brought the food out however the only issue I had was she brought out quite a few dishes at once and the potatoes which was a side dish was tilted towards her body and touching her clothes as she leaned it on her while bringing it out with other dishes, which is unhygenic. For a restaurant like Gusto we expected the server to be more professional and maybe walk another time into the kitchen to bring the food out.

Gusto Italian is fantastic! The mushroom risotto with chicken and margherita pizza were absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Our waitress, Mia, was amazing—attentive, friendly, and made the experience even better. Highly recommend this place. 5 stars!

Booked for a birthday dinner as a couple prior to going to see a show at The Palace Theatre. Served by Josh who was lovely, brought out ice cream with a happy birthday message and candle and took my dessert off the bill as a birthday gift - would definitely recommend! Thanks Josh!

Summary: When me and two of my friends went for festive lunch in December, we were served the worst Christmas lunch we have ever had. We wrote to say how disappointed we were afterwards on 15th December and they never even responded. Photo: the main dish in the photo is untouched. It came like this. Details: For the last 20 years, me and my uni friends have festive lunch every year in December. I’m in charge of finding restaurants that serve Christmas lunch that’s reasonable and tasty. This year, I chose Gusto because I’ve been here before and they have been okay. Two of my friends had starter. Chicken pate and mushroom bruschetta. Both bread was so stale, they couldn’t chew them. I tried both and we even struggled to tear it because it was that stale. We all ordered turkey for the main. The carrots were completely raw and we got the tiniest amount of gravy. When I asked if they had more gravy, the waiter said yes sure, and brought us a small pot of extra gravy. When we went to pay, we found that they charged us £2 extra and we weren’t even told that would cost extra. To make this worse, when we booked, the menu they had online said £31.95 for three courses (2024 price) yet when we got to the restaurant, the same menu had increased yo £38.95. My friends are normally not the type to complain but they asked me to write in to say how disappointed they were. I wrote to them on 15th December and they never even replied. I was already disappointed in the whole experience but their service was normally pretty good so I expected to hear back at least so I was even more disappointed. This put us so bad that we probably won’t go here again. Like I said, their Italian food is normally ok but there are plenty of other Italian restaurants that serve better quality pasta and pizza.

Great place for food. Josh was our server and he went the extra mile to make us feel comfortable and was a great host. Gave us great recommendations for after dinner cocktails and was very attentive.

Visited with a group of friends and used the 50% off throughout January offer. The food was fantastic - the scallops especially were spot on - and the contrails were delicious. We've eaten here a few times before and used their private dining facilities (incredible). This time, we went for dinner after the panto. It was as good as ever. Food was lovely, the atmosphere was very festive but not overly busy. Staff very attentive. Would recommend.

OMG!!! I am sorry to say the food was so bad ,we took a friend for dinner and I was so ashamed in my choice of resturant,most of the food was cold & dry or burnt to a crisp , the wine was also ridiculously overpriced,the staff were not interested at all,this place was really nice inside but the food was the worst we have ever had,I have been to the Gusto in Liverpool and to the one in Knutsford which were fine ,we thought we would give the Manchester one a try but never again,please don't waste your money,hopefully the resturant will take note for any future customers.

Be prepared for a wait to be served

I have been a loyal customer of Gusto Manchester for years, but my recent visit on December 27th was incredibly disappointing. Despite requesting a booth during our booking, we were seated at a table so close to others that we could barely move. After several requests, we were finally moved, but the service continued to struggle. We waited over 20 minutes to place our drink order, which I eventually had to do myself at the bar. While the starters were enjoyable, my main dish—a supposed three-meat lasagna—was a letdown. It resembled a cheap frozen meal rather than a freshly prepared dish. I sent it back, and while the waiter apologized, it didn’t improve my experience. I ended up sharing fries with my family, but my daughter’s food arrived cold, and the server seemed indifferent to our concerns. Overall, the decline in quality is evident, and I regret to say that we will not be returning. I cannot recommend Gusto Manchester based on this experience.

Came yesterday (23/12) for a meal with my dad and sister. It was almost dead (I’d say less than 10% full) so we were particularly shocked to have terrible service. From the start - nobody at entrance to seat us, no offer of cloakroom - to painfully slow service throughout (constantly chasing someone for a drink refill or to order dessert), to having to ask for the bill FOUR times. So, so poor. Cherry on top was having to go and rummage through their cloakroom ourselves (!) because there was nobody around to help us. Food was tasty but we spent £200 between 3 of us, and there are SO many places in town where that money would have been better spent. Used to come a lot but won’t be returning. . And I’m cross at myself for not telling them to remove the service charge!

Josh was our server we went on Christmas Eve and had a great meal and the service was excellent!

The food was good, but not authentic italian. We tried mush rositto, Garlic mushroom, and for sure fries. It was all fresh and tasty. It’s a cozy restaurant and it had nice atmosphere, the music is a bit too loud. Generally it’s a safe choice.

The dishes were served quickly, they were cold and not very good. They didn't tempt me with anything special, so I definitely won't come back. The decor was nice

Had a festive menu, lovely place, lovely atmosphere, staff great, small portions, burnt potatoes, bruschetta bread hard, however overalll was ok. Nice table settings. Would try general menu next time.

Very nice decor and great menu. Unfortunately we were seated at the back of the restaurant right next to the open kitchen, so it was very noisy, hot and busy, not the best for a special occasion with friends. We had a view of the silent waiter with condiments etc which was not very pleasant. We requested to be moved to another table if possible when one was free, but this didn’t happen. We were very hot and uncomfortable at this table and it was very hard to have a conversation. The food was average and very pricey, it’s a shame we wouldn’t go back to this restaurant after this experience.

Had Christmas lunch and the food was terrible. No flavour and drier than the Sahara. Service was ridiculous, shouting Salmon! Beef! At us. What was the point of the place names with the food written on it. Barely finished and they told us to drink up and leave and that was 20 minutes before our booking was due to finish. Such an expensive lunch as well. Rubbish. Would give it zero stars if I could.

We returned to Gusto for my daughter’s birthday as in the past have been very happy with food and service. This time the service was as expected but the food has changed for the worse. Looking forward to my usual ragu it came with no meat what so ever and splash of sauce. The garlic bread was dry with not much flavouring. Calling over our waiter he explained that’s how they do it now as customers complained about having meat? I was offered a replacement meal but looking at what others had I didn’t see much point, Sunday roast where the chicken looked fried? Another pasta meal with no sauce and sloppy beef. I can not believe what has happened to the food here. Also every time we have gone to Gusto we also have to ask for the deposit to be taken off the bill when it arrives. You book a table and have to put down a deposit how can staff not know to automatically take this off? Food prices have have gone up and quality down

Good food and deco and service, had Duck was delicious but would of liked a little more mash as it was a tiny portion, the drinks was good and burger was very juice and chips was good too would recommend to anyone visiting Manchester.

An amazing Italian thoroughly enjoyed having our anniversary meal here. Service is kind and fast. The atmosphere is wonderful. I think for the location and price of food it's perfect for a mid scale price range will be coming back

Visited with my brother few days ago for dinner..food was great and so cocktails which were recommended by our waiter Nick. 5*. Ill be visiting in future again.

Visited earlier today and can honestly say this was the worst meal I have had in a very long time. Ordered the roast Turkey for main and virtually everything on the plate looked like it was cooked last year before being reheated today.

Amazing food, great atmosphere, server Nick very attentive. Great place to come to celebrate special occasions (got a few freebies ;)). Will definitely return.

We had dinner at Gusto the other night and it was absolutely worth the trip. The food was amazing with an incredible atmosphere from the moment you walked in and the service was brilliant, Nick looked after us while we were there and he was always ready at the right time with a smile on his face. I would absolutely recommend this place.
