Amazing best food I've had in a long time

Loved the food, waiting staff and owner are so polite and friendly. Huge selection of vegetarian food, will definitely be back to explore other food options.

I've eaten here a few times now. The menu is extensive, with a good selection of both Nepalese and Indian food which I've found is good when I'm with friends, although the Nepalese is my go to order. There's something for everyone. The service is excellent and staff friendly.

Very quiet on arrival on a Saturday evening, so very little atmosphere, waiting staff very attentive. Starters were large and tasty albeit a little too spicy for my wife who does enjoy a little heat. Main course looked good to start with, large portions. Again even though we asked for medium heat they were a little too spicy. One main course was poor as supposed to be slow cooked lamb on the bone, the dish was mainly bone with very little meat and the meat that was in the dish was tough. When asked if we enjoyed the food we said no because of this dish and the waitress didn't really know how to deal with it. After quite some time a manager finally came over to discuss and he had to agree the dish was not acceptable, so removed it from the bill along with one round of drinks we had with the food. We left happy with the way they handled this albeit a bit slow.

We arrived in Swindon yesterday for a short two-day stay and came across Shaw Nepalese / Indian Cuisine. My wife and I decided to try their food and ended up ordering through Uber Eats for both our meals over the two days—and we’re so glad we did! We mainly ordered Nepalese dishes and specifically requested them to prepare the food in a traditional, authentic Nepalese style. They truly delivered! The flavors were rich, authentic, and reminded us of home. Every dish was delicious, and the quality remained consistently high. A big thank you to the team at Shaw Nepalese / Indian Cuisine for such a lovely experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy genuine Nepalese flavors in Swindon!

Really delicious food for an affordable price. Would recommend the thali set and the gurkha grill.

I really enjoyed my dinner with friends at Ghurka. The taste of the food and the authenticity of the restaurant deserve five stars. The service from the staff was excellent as well. I will definitely visit again, and I'm glad I tried this restaurant for a change.

Visited this place based on the Review and i must say " best in Swindon" . We ordered thali , lolipop and Squids Calamari all 3 were delicious. Food is reasonable and service is quick . We Met Sooraj he is a Gem. I rate it 10/10 highly Reccomend to everyone . Love from Goa, India

The most amazing lunch! This place is a hidden gem, with owners and staff who can’t do enough to help and cater to you. The portions were absolutely massive and the food incredible - still thinking about it now. I feel lucky to have found this place and can’t wait to take all of my family and friends when I’m next in Swindon!

I visited today and I couldn’t have asked for a better service. They were very accommodating and nothing was ever too much! The food was delicious, huge portion sizes and very tasty! I will definitely be back! Thank you again!

Came in with some friends and had one of the best and most delicious meals ever. We ate so much and all the dishes we ordered came out at a nice pace. Ordered so much we had to take some home! Service was nice and relaxed and very friendly. Prices were good and atmosphere was also nice. Absolute recommended the chilli momos, paneer and the chicken choyla. Can't wait to come back!

Amazing food, amazing service. I have visited this place three times in past three weeks. Tried chicken steamed momos and veg noodles. Both dishes had perfect 👌 level of taste and quality. Must try chicken wings with house beer.

Used their catering services first and they were so good. Good range of starters and main, all delivered on time and with great flexibility! Suraj is very good with communicating and always handy to answer any questions. Went to check out the restaurant a week later and the Nepali dishes were spot on! Really enjoyed every Nepali dish ordered. We will be back soon x

Had a fab night, the food was outstanding and the service was 1st class. It was our sons 29th birthday and they made him feel very special, with the whole restaurant singing happy birthday to him. Well recommended and will be back again!

It is a very nice restaurant with authentic Nepali food. If anyone is missing Desi Chinese food it's a must try if you want the food spicy they make it accordingly 😊

We had Chicken Madras and Chicken Tikka, not the most adventurous I grant you, but both were excellent, full flavoured and great quality. As takeaways become more expensive it’s really important that you feel you have had value for money and this meal certainly fulfilled that criteria. Definitely will order again and maybe go for one of the Chef Specials.Also quick delivery and food arrived hot, many thanks

This restaurant is truly a beautiful place with an amazing ambiance—warm, welcoming. But what makes it even more special is the exceptional service. The waitress is always so sweet and attentive. A huge shoutout to the wonderful owner, who never fails to stop by for a quick chat, adding a personal touch to our dining experience. Highlight drink is the Desi Star! Every dish is bursting with authentic flavors, and what amazes us the most is how consistently perfect the taste is. Each visit is a delightful experience, and we can’t recommend this place enough. Ordered 2 takeaway biryani's Chicken Biryani is completely a different taste (no/negligible spices)!! Quantity is okay.. Lassi and Raita is not upto the standards..!

Worth a visit to try some authentic Nepalese cuisine. Very authentic restaurant. The ambience is great, food was served hot and well prepared. Portion sizes are decent and priced at market related prices. The curries are authentic Nepalese and not indian. Very fresh ingredients and taste was on point. Service is slow and please ensure to specify dietary requirements up front. We will definitely be back.

Ordered the lamb handi as my main. The meat was quite rough and chewy, a disappointment. My keema naan on the side was quite delicious, however. The samosa chat I had for a starter was by far the standout. Absolutely wonderful. We were a party of 8, and it took quite a while for our food to come out. Not sure if this was due to the group size or if it’s a normal thing. Regarding the toilets, the men’s toilet doesn’t flush very effectively. And the sink releases the most pathetic trickle of water I’ve ever seen. Although there were some disappointments, this is a very fine restaurant. I would come back and get the samosa chat again 100% and order a different main to try.

My son took me to his favourite restaurant, The food was excellent 👌 The atmosphere was calm and very relaxing, staff were very friendly and we were served very quickly. We orderd veg noodles that I have to mention ,which were exceptional 👌 I just can not stop thinking of them. I would highly recommend this lovley restaurant once you eat here you will go back for more 😋

Definitely recommend 👌 Popped in on Friday night, Really tasty offering that packed a good spicy punch. Highly recommend the gunpowder main dish if you like the oddly addictive numbing sensation of sichuan pepper 😋😋😋 Very reasonable price too for the portion size and quality. Two beers, two starters, two mains, a nan and rice for ~£60. 👍

We have been visiting this restaurant since we came to swindon, really enjoyed the atmosphere and food here ,highly recomended.

Waited nearly 2 hours this evening for a delivery. Spent almost half an hour outside wandering around trying to find the delivery driver who for some reason couldn’t find the house (not an issue for others). Shame as will not order from them again Edit: further to the restaurant response- the driver hung up on us when we were outside trying to help him. The restaurant wouldn’t help when we called (twice). Just told us “it’s coming”. And yes we have ordered before, and had a bad experience previously (similar long wait) so this was the final chance

We visited Gurkh for the first time last night and will definitely be back. Food and service were excellent. We really enjoyed the Momos and the chicken lollipops, and all of our main courses ( there were 4 of us) were delicious.

Fantastic flavours but hotter than expected. Dishes were either VERY 'spicy' or mild. Definitely not medium. The single chilli symbol on menu is misleading. Hardcore curry lovers will be in heaven though.

Best Nepalese and Indian restaurant in Swindon. You must try their food. We had chicken lollipop crispy and juicy, tandoori chicken well cooked, veg momos 😍, veg chowmein and many more items. We would definitely recommend to everyone.

Everything was a little over cooked. No dipping sauce for the momo. Very expensive for lack lustre food.
