Gurkha Kitchen Cranfield in Central Bedfordshire

I was given a recommendation to try Gurkha Kitchen, so glad we went. The service was superb with helpful suggestions, both of us love different cuisines and the food here is quite superb. Will definitely go back, thank you.

Situated at the Swan in Cranfield, you can get some of the best Nepali and Indian food with the service to match. A warm welcome was given to us on entry with a Namaste which a customary Nepali greeting. Food was very flavoursome and fresh. We had the momos, samosas and a large grill to start off the meal followed by Lamb Rogan Josh, Butter chicken, garlic naans and pilau rice. The texture of the naan had the right consistency and was excellent. The beers were nice and well chilled. They have a very well stocked bar and a good wine list. A great visit here and we enjoyed ourselves. A repeat visit is on the cards soon. Thank you for the excellent service.

FOOD POISONING ALERT GHURKA KITCHEN CRANFIELD I have eaten at the Ghurka kitchen many times and always found the food to be of good quality and the staff helpful and friendly. LAST NIGHT WAS AN APPALLING CHAIN OF EVENTS AND I WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN. I took a friend to have a meal and we ordered a starter which was fine, then a meat platter and a fish platter to share as our main course. We ate the fish platter and one item on the meat platter, to then discover to our horror that the chicken was raw. We immediately stopped eating and showed a male staff member. He apologised profusely and said he would discount the bill by 50%. I said it wasn't necessary to discount it that much I just wanted a refund on the raw meat plate. A female staff member then gave us the bill for the full amount. When I pointed out she had charged us for the raw chicken she came back with a 5% discount of £6.95 I pointed out that the meat plate had cost £16.95 so I asked to speak to the manager. The manager was very unhelpful and quite rude to both me and my friend. He said that his kitchen staff had told him that we had eaten most of the meat ( as if we would actually consider eating raw meat and as if we would actually go to such lengths to save £16.95 of a £69 bill when I would normally have left a £10 tip anyway ). He said he had to listen to his staff, I advised him he should also be listening to his customers as opposed to implying we were lying. He said that they didn't deliberately serve us raw meat. I pointed out that whilst I didn't consider they had done it on purpose, they had nevertheless, served us raw meat that would almost certainly lead to food poisoning. I said that I understood mistakes happen and all I was asking is for the cost of the meat plate to be removed. I was happy to pay the remaining £51.73. After much disputing the cost of the raw meat. I finally said he could either take the money for all of the meal minus the meat plate or I would leave without paying at all and he could do whatever he had to to do on the back of that. I also informed him I would be putting his appalling customer service on the Cranfield group, to which he dismissed and was completely unconcerned. I'm totally appalled by this whole incident, not to mention both me and my friend feeling quite sick at the thought of even eating a tiny amount of raw meat. Both of us are suffering with a dodgy tummy today. I would NEVER eat there again. Not so much because of the food( we all make mistakes) but because of the managers disgusting attitude and shocking customer service. Cranfield residents deserve to be treated with far more respect and dignity than the way we were treated last night. CHECK YOUR FOOD AT THIS PLACE I AM A NURSE AND FOOD POISONING CAN BE DEADLY Just for the record we did pay the £51.73 in hindsight we should have just left never to return. Update- from the Cranfield groups feedback - seemingly this is not the first time it has happened and the attitude of the staff was just as appalling

A very pleasant surprise on our doorstep, very friendly staff, great atmosphere & fantastic food, try the Gurkha dishes wow.

We had a fantastic meal tonight for my Mum’s birthday. Such wonderful attentive staff. The chap that served us (sorry I didn’t get your name) was just lovely. He heard me say about my Mum’s day… it was just a ‘throw away’ comment. The next minute he had brought out cake and offered celebratory shots. A lovely atmosphere and the ‘olds’ throughly enjoyed themselves … together with us ‘youngsters!!’ So fabulous to FINALLY have a decent restaurant in Cranfield.

The takeaway food from here was expensive and of average quality. The onion bhajis were small, hard and overcooked. Squid was also over cooked, hard and paltry portions. The curries had too much sauce and hardly any meat, also lacked in flavour. I would not recommend. Neither would I return.

Me and my boyfriend came here & I must say not very busy but the food & service is amazing! We will be back very soon! So happy we have finally found a nepalese restaurant close to home :)

Delicious Nepalese food, with a good few dishes that I haven't seen at others. Could argue that it's slightly expensive, as takeaway at least, but in this case you do get what you pay for.

Wow, delivery was great, all smiles, food was amazing. This will be our default treat dinner now. We selected Gurka dishes and wonderful they were.

Had a really lovely night with family here. The food was amazing and the staff were so friendly, always asking if there was anything we need. On top of that the decor and seating were luxurious and looked new. A really nice meal.

Don't let the reputation of the pub put you off. The food in this "add on" restaurant is superb. Fresh, great quality & fair prices.

I visited here whilst at cranfield university. Location - cranfield village. Parking to front. Service - excellent service. Food - Excellent Nepalese style food. Highly recommend the momo’s for starters, lamb shank main. Restaurant and public bar are separated. So you can go through for drinks after your food.

Fantastic dining experience... Excellent customer service from start to finish. The food was delicious, wine stunning. We had 6 in our party and everyone left having had a great meal. The restaurant feels very Covid safe.
