Nice food reasonably priced and clean

Had a lovely evening here yesterday, quick service and delicious food. Would thoroughly recommend getting the pork momo's!

Very busy restaurant, fantastic and unusual food, not your standard menu. Had to ask a few times for an ordered round of drinks but friendly staff just very busy.

Sensational. Superb curry naan rice and beer ( Singha available here!). Such accommodating and welcoming staff, couldn’t have looked after me better. Simply excellent

Really lovely restaurant. Went for buffet but you also have option to order separately from larger menu if you dont want to go for buffet option. The staff were excellent very nice and attentive and the food was delicious and very good value for money. They also give the most amazing prawn crackers as soon as you sit down. Restaurant also very clean. Highly recommend this place and would come back.

Khānā asādhāraṇa svādiṣṭa cha. I haven't eaten such good, authentic Nepalese food in a very long time. The dishes are excellently seasoned and have a subtle spiciness. Here, such delicious momos (vegetarian/non-vegetarian) with fresh coriander leaves are served as a starter that you don't really want to eat anything else. The team is very friendly and very attentive. The restaurant is stylishly furnished and the walls are painted in attractive colors.

A wet Monday night in Oxted and I wanted to try the Gurkha Kitchen, having researched the area on Trip Advisor. Food was very good, chicken livers to start, then prawn soonkoshi. Excellent Kuwa Beer from the local Westerham Brewery. The tables set for 2 were close together, so sit elsewhere for a quiet night.

Really tasty food and helpful waiters that helped us choose as we had not eaten Nepalese food before. The Lamb dish was so tender the meat fell apart, and prawn dish was also so tasty.

This was my first visit to the Gurkha kitchen. Needed a change from Cucina's. Absolutely lovely lunch. Staff are amazing. I hope they are appreciated. We didn't realise, but we had gone over our 1.5 hour allotted time slot, and the staff were very, very gracious. Lunch was beautiful. Prawns in coconut sauce, Red mullet, and a beautiful Dhal.... Added to this we were given prawn crackers, but not the white, cardboardey type. These were gorgeous. We also bread and a rice dish. All delish.... My friends had come up from London, and were really impressed. I cant believe that I have lived in Oxted for so long, and swerved this gem of a place. Prices very reasonable too. Well done Gurkha kitchen. Chef and waiting staff amazing.....

Awesome alternative to your run-of-the-mill Indian. My first experience here. One I'm keen to repeat soon

Place was so good we had to come back, best Indian in Carvoeiro. The Garlic and cheese naan highly recommend!! Also shoutout Rakib an absolute gentleman and a great host top establishment!!

Very nice food at a reasonable price. There is quite a big menu giving ample choices for starters, main course and sides. It was busy when we were there and the staff were rushed off their feet showing how popular it is. As we are a party of 8, we booked in advance. I would recommend this place and will definitely be back to try some other dishes.

Our first visit on recommendation , not disappointed, food very good , good service made welcome as soon as we walked in door. We all had different dishes not disappointed with anything, good portions. Price reasonable. Only issue is to allow enough time before your booking to find some parking nearby as there are several eateries in the area.

This was a first time experience for us. Very good booking service and helpful contact with the restaurant. I was able to book and change my times. I recommend booking as it is busy. The food was good and presented well. Cocktails are available. My only gripe is that I got served my initial drink but then another was absent. It was hard to get the staff to come over and order more drinks otherwise I would have spent much more. But in the whole it is a nice place for a meal. I would go again.

Good restaurant, interesting typical food, lighter than the usual Indian fare. Young and attractive attendants. It can get busy and noisy, ideal for occasion celebrations.

Just had lunch here today. Great experience. Food was absolutely lovely, well cooked, full of flavour, generous portions, at a very reasonable price. Lovely waiting staff. Restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. Toilets were immaculately clean. Very pleased we tried this Restaurant, and we will be back.

I've reveiewed this restaurant before but feel compelled to review it again after yesterdays' buffet. I have Coeliac Disease so have to keep to a gluten free diet. In the past I have had the a la carte menu on a Sunday as I was unsure which dishes were gluten free and as the vegetables usually weren't, because of the addition of soy sauce. This time, however, I was informed that they were fine for me as the chef now uses a gluten free soy sauce. The service is always friendly, helpful and very efficient and the food delicious, with the main dishes labelled mild and hotter, accompanied by rice, potato dishes and noodles. My non-coeliac friend pronounced the Nepali bread mouthwatering and wondered whether it was homemade. Prices are very reasonable and we always enjoy the house wine. The mint chocolate along with the bill is always appreciated too!

We had dinner here for the first time last night. Oh my goodness what an incredible meal, not your usual dishes that you would usually find in an Indian restaurant. The dishes were piping hot, generous in size and absolutely delicious. The waiting staff were lovely and very attentive. We will definitely be returning again soon.

Our first visit to a Nepalese restaurant. I didn't really know what to order, in the end it was basically down to guess work. I must say my wife and I were both extremely pleased with our choices and looking forward to our next visit when we can experiment further with Nepalese cuisine . Ps great staff and good value for money.

Excellent food and friendly staff. We had the Prawn Sinka and the Tareko Squid to start and both were really good. We then had the Rara Chicken and the Mayalu Lamb. Both excellent!

Haven't been for months as so many other places springing up around however popped in midweek and forgot how good it was. The prices were very cheap in fact best value around. Food was sensational service excellent wine beautiful and again cheap

Had a wonderful dining experience at the restaurant with a group of 16+ friends and families together and what stood out is their service and of course the momos - thank you for your lovely hospitality

Have visited his restaurant lots of times for evening meals but this time we tried the Sunday buffet for lunch. Great food but service can sometimes be a little slow, does not really affect you when having the buffet thou. The momo is a must have !

This is one of the best Asian restaurants I know, if you like curry it is a must visit. They seem to have masses of choice if you are into veggie options. The mutton curry is really excellent. Each dish has its own distinct flavour and most of them are not the usual curry choices. I’ve never had a bad meal here

Fantastic menu, a wide range of delicious meat, fish and vegetable dishes. I found the food very well priced for such high quality. The service was friendly and efficient, staff were polite and attentive. We were celebrating my mum's birthday which I didn't mention on the booking, but they noticed that we had given her gifts and brought out a birthday dessert and sang her happy birthday. Very touched and impressed! I've been before and will certainly be returning again soon. Thanks Ghurka Kitchen!

Great food, really lovely if you fancy some spice. Probably one of the nicest meals I’ve had out for curry. Highly recommended. Staff are very friendly and efficient.

Truly delicious, perfectly prepared, and nicely presented Nepalese food. Such a treat. Every dish was freshly made and served with great gentleness. The spicing is subtle, and not hot - more reminiscent of Moroccan than Indian or Chinese. It's worth slowing down and paying attention to. Their prices are very good for the quality and accuracy of the cooking. The outside of the restaurant needs a coat of paint. But don't let that deter you! We had an impromptu celebration meal there yesterday - really pushed the boat out! - and were just delighted.

Our first visit after hearing many good recommendations. Very glad we tried it! We received a very warm welcome, and delicious fresh spicy prawn crackers were brought to our table immediately, whilst we perused the menu. What a treat, the food was honestly incredible! Amazing balance of spice, heat and flavour.Lovely staff, smiley and really well trained, loved the way each plate was carefully wiped before being set down. Drinks good too. Cocktails were great value and well made, and we loved the fact that there was a "Nepalese style" beer from the local Westerham Brewery. Restaurant was spotlessly clean and well-decorated, a breath of fresh air. We had a really lovely evening.

This was our first visit to a Gurka Kitchen, I have to say it was beautiful, great food cutting across Asian cuisine types, great service from the staff and a charming and warming environment. I will certainly be hunting out more of these restaurants and returning to this one when back in the area!

Such a treat to have such delicious meal, couldn't falt it. Tender tasty lamb, succulent chicken and perfectly cooked side dishes. Very friendly attentive staff.

We have had many lunches and dinner here. The atmosphere us uniquely Nepalese. The staff are great. Bur the food is superb! You can dine in or take away. They have a buffet on Sunday.

Overall it was an amazing experience. I went on Friday so not buffet day however the food service was pretty quick. The waiters were very nice and well mannered. The food was delicious and I would really recommend going to the Oxted Gurkha Kitchen.

Really tasty meal. There were four of us and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. Pretty busy for a Monday night as well so a nice atmosphere.

Been to Gurkha Kitchen a few times over the last two decades and it seems to provide everything I expect of a good local restaurant. The decor is simple and effective, the service is efficient without fawning, the food is consistent in taste and quality, the portions are decent and priced for repeat custom...no thrills or frill or spills is exactly how I like it.

Our family has been coming to this restaurant for over 15 years, and it is one of the best I have ever been to. I say my favorite cuisine is Nepalese because of this place.

Excellent meal, staff were very friendly, responsive and gave great guidance on dishes. Well priced with all dishes we ordered packed with flavours and cooked well. Big surprise was the momo dumplings (pork) I really liked them and this would be my recommendation as a starters. Cant wait to go back

Second visit after have a great first time . Well disappointed, food not up to previous standard , The chicken was overcooked and hard the sauces we runny and lacked the promised flavour, the curried potatoes were just cubed potatoes no flavour and not soft as previous time we all raved about them . . Lots of people in that night so must be popular .A disappointed evening .

The food was top class, as was the service. Interesting menu and even the basics like the rice were far superior to ones I have had elsewhere.

Came here after a long hike and was pleasantly surprised that there was a Sunday buffet available. We had the lamb momo as a starter and then tried all the dishes from the buffet. All were really tasty although for personal taste I would have liked them to be a bit spicier. The service was professional and polite. Highly recommend it if you are in the area.

Went here last night for my joint 50th with a friend. Amazing night, the service and food was excellent. And they make the best espresso martinis no added sugar syrup. Everyone on our table of ten loved the food and we already planning our next visit. It's not expensive either, was quite surprised how cheap the bill was for 10 people eating and drinking for 3,5 hours We already planning our next visit, it was that good!

Had a lovely time with my family yesterday. The service was good and staff were friendly.However, the food was below the expectation and ambience was a bit claustrophobic.

I came for my birthday meal with 10 of us and, as ever loved the food. The flavours are amazing!

We ate here by recommendation of our b&b hosts. Something different, we thought, - and it was! Very reasonable prices, extremely generous portions (limit your side orders, we couldn’t finish all of ours…) We ordered the slow-cooked lamb shank, and the Mayalu Lamb. Some reviewers have described this as tasteless, which just shows how palates differ - I cannot eat highly spiced food, but this was lovely with subtle, delicious seasoning. Highly recommended, but do book in advance - you might be lucky just walking in, but on a Thursday evening it was well filled, though not full. Suspect Fridays and Saturdays fill up. Thank you Gurkha Kitchen for good service and very enjoyable food.

Loved it excellent staff and brilliant food

Always good, a nice twist on Indian style food. That doesn't do it justice but just for comparison, it has it's own style. Similar dishes in some respects but lighter, less oil, less spice hit and nice subtle flavours. Interesting starters, lightly spiced chicken livers, steamed dumplings and so forth. My only issue is the menu hasn't changed in ages but then I've been going since it's been open. Prices are good and Sunday buffet is an absolute steal.

Really friendly and the food is amazing. It is popular so booking usually needed. Late afternoon on Sunday for the buffet is lovely and not busy.

Having gone for buffet pre Covid and enjoyed , our recent visit was rather mediocre except that is for the company of good friends . Buffet is not labelled so you have no idea what you are eating ! Food Luke warm and plates not that hot . Staff slow and not that friendly despite only two other people being in restaurant.

I used to really like the Gurkha Kitchen, but recent meals have disappointed. Apart from their lovely pork dumplings, most dishes are bland and unexciting. Chicken methi, for example, had no discernible methi flavour. Side dishes such as their cauliflower, lack freshness and flavour. There is little attempt at a proper welcome: service lacks personality - admittedly the masks did not help. We thought they needed to up their game and, sadly, we cannot endorse the rave reviews below.
