What a little gem in the centre of melton! Really great Nepalese food and fabulous staff, Susma was very attentive and cheerful. A definite return for me.

Absolutely fantastic dining experience The flavours are slightly different from all the other lndian, Bangladeshi & Pakistani restaurants l’ve enjoyed It’s now my ‘go to’ for eating out & their delivery service is outstanding too -I’ve had a banquet on my table within 30minutes of ordering on several occasions Definitely try it!

We were a family party of seven adults (one local, two from Australia and three from NZ) and had an amazing meal at the Ghurka Express. The food was really good and the service from Susma was excellent. We were also given a complimentary dish to start and strawberry lassi to finish! We had a great night and wouldn’t hesitate to go back again. Thanks for a very enjoyable meal that we will remember!

We visited with friends and had an excellent meal in a lovely friendly environment. Service was spot on, not too intrusive but always there when you needed them. We have previously had takeaways but will be back to eat in again. Thank you 😊

Wonderful meal and service at this restaurant. The food was amazing and so fresh. The lady looking after us couldnt do enough for us. Sadly we live 3 hours away, otherwise we would be coming here often!

We dined in the restaurant on Monday evening with our baby and we all loved it. We were greeted and provided with a highchair and were the only customers because we had booked as early as possible. Everywhere was clean, tidy, and the waitress was lovely. The poppadoms were warm and crunchy, and the mint dip was fantastic. The mango chutney was the best I've ever tried. Whilst waiting for our main course, we were gifted with a complimentary starter. We don't usually go for starters, but from now on, we definitely will be, as it was delicious. When our mains came out, we were so excited to try the food, and honestly, it was the best tikka masala we've had in Melton. The garlic chilli chicken was also lovely, and spicy, and my raita dip came in handy to cool it down. The garlic naan was lovely as well. I don't usually eat everything on my plate, but I nearly enough polished off the whole thing. Safe to say, we will be returning! Finally we were given the bill with some yummy mint chocolates cold out the fridge. The best mint chocolate I've ever had, so overall, we were amazed with everything and really happy about the service. We can't wait to come back!

Worst experience ever . Food quality is very low .

Celebrated mine and a friend's birthday and would thoroughly recommend. The food was all served at the same time (and there were quite a few of us), all piping hot. Not one person on the night said they didn't like what they had chosen and would certainly go to this restaurant again.

Had a fantastic meal with the whole family. Such friendly service. We all had starters beautifully presented, main course again well presented and really tasty. We had ice-cream dessert to finish. Great value, friendly service and delicious food. Would highly recommend.

Ordered a £52 takeaway and after all the restaurants discounts I paid £39. Outstanding food, really impressed and will likely be my go to place now

First time ordering from here and I'm disappointed to say the least. Ordered a chicken masala, and it came and definitely wasn't what I expected. (I was expecting a chicken tikka masala in a rich red sauce) it was a deep brown colour and a thick texture it was very very spicy and I'm now currently sat with horrible heartburn. I definitely wouldn't call that a masala and definitely think they sent me the wrong order. The delivery driver was lovely though and it was delivered in reasonable time.

First time i have had a curry from here.......will not be the last. I can't give stars for the atmosphere because i had my first takeaway from here. I had just downloaded just eat app so ordered from them, well impressed. I know my curries and often cook my own. There was only one that i would order from and that was the Empress of india in asfordby, but now i have a choice of two.....in my opinion Gurkha Express is the best tasting indian food in Melton Mowbray and it was the first time i have ordered from these guys. Sunday 17th Dec 2023. i am not on any commission they don't even know me.... i just ordered a take away from just eat. i am just trying to inform fellow curry lovers what i think....so for me Melton Mowbray would be Gurkha Express and Asfordby the Empress of India.

100% best Gurkha/Indian I've had in a long time, eating this food feels like getting a cuddle from the inside out😋 Just dropped in tonight for nothing specific, asked for the most traditional lamb dish with spice and a naan and am unbelievably happy with the result. So tasty! The negative reviews about this place must be made by people who have no idea of what real Asian cuisine actually tastes or feels like (see quote of chewy, not airy and light naan... fresh bread is meant to be like that and I could smell from the second I was handed my takeaway bag that it was real bread, not from a packet). The "garlic chilli lamb" I received filled the takeaway tub completely, the meat is incredibly tender and I can't finish the portion, the huge punch of flavour alone is worth every penny. I will definitely be back. Great job guys, keep it up!!!👍👍👍

I've been to Gurkha express on a number of occasions in the beginning well worth the money the fine dining was as advertised the second visit I brought 9 guests we were impressed again we got to know our host Casper had a great meal with the attention to detail one would expect of a fine dining experience, the next visit I brought 10 guests no Casper obvious under staffed all visits were on Saturday night the service was poor very poor so disappointed we decided to visit this last Saturday to see if Casper had a night off 28/10/23 no Casper , served by young girl about 16yrs of age lovely young girl been in the country one month loved her efforts but long way to go to be a fine dining waitress not her fault. So in conclusion in the past month I have spent approximately £600. On entertaining my guests to be embarrassed twice unfortunately I will not be visiting again as I can get this level of service in any curry house in the country I will add the last visit we took a take away for our daughter and someone forgot to put the rice in the bag and as we live a considerable distance from Melton we decided to forget it and just not patronise this establishment again such a shame they nearly got it right.. If you want a fine dining restaurant with premium prices this will dissapoint such a shame

Really enjoyable evening. Our party of 10, all had drinks served within 10 minutes of arrival and food was very quick as well. Absolutely delicious and tasty, we all loved it. Highly recommended.

Went here on a Sunday evening with my Son on the recommendation of a friend. Absolutely Superb Experience. Food and Service were Excellent. This restaurant now sets the standard for all other Indian restaurants in Melton. The best Garlic & Cheese Nan we've ever had. Would highly recommend

Visited here for a restaurant meal a few weeks ago. We had a warm welcome, and the service overall was second to none. The staff clearly have a high standard, and this is also reflected in the food. Our meal was delicious, and very well presented. Well worth a visit.

My self and a small group were in the area for our cub scout camp. We made a phone order pretty late on Friday night about 955pm. The order we was ready in 30 minutes for us to collect. The food was brilliant, with great size portions, and very well cooked. We thoroughly enjoyed the meals and will use you again for our next camp:)

Ordered from here a few weeks back and it was a Chicken Vindaloo with rice etc and wasn't impressed with it at all, the curry was quite watery and the rice wasn't great either. I probably wouldn't bother again

Housed in a refurbished pub the Gurkha is a fantastic addition to Melton Mowbray's restaurants. We were greeted by our very friendly, very polite Polish waiter and seated at a round table, a rare piece of furniture for restaurants. Well laid tables with cloth napkins and designer cutlery all add to an upmarket feel . Serving some traditional Gurkha dishes the lamb handi was particularly delicious. Portions are generous and prices are reasonably inexpensive. If you are looking for an Indian restaurant in Melton, this is the one to visit.

Excellent food and friendly service, a little more upmarket than before but welcoming.

Spice club - 5 Stars are not enough. The food here is always amazing. The level of service and generosity of the staff can not be matched, the management have a clear love for the job and what they do. We asked for a simple birthday message to bring a little joy to my pregnant wife to be and what we received was unimaginable. The staff gave us flowers and a drink for our meal, we can not show enough gratitude to this restaurant! They bring happiness with every meal.

Grandson decided he wanted to go to an Indian restaurant for his 16th birthday. He had never had an authentic Indian meal. Only gave 4 stars for atmosphere as we were the only customers there at the time. However, food and service were top class, if a little expensive.

This was our second time here tonight since moving to Melton and have found one of the best Indian restaurants we have been to! All of the food is fresh, a good level of spice and top service. Recommend the lamb cutlet starter, lots of meat and flavour and perfectly cooked. Best Indian in Melton!

Everything about this restaurant was exceptional. The menu has both unique and traditional meals to choose from. The food was excellent, exactly as described and beautifully presented. Both food and drinks are reasonably priced. Service was excellent, lovely atmosphere. We will certainly be visiting again and would feel very confident in recommending to anyone.

Food was nice. They forgot about our online reservation. Ripped by boots on sharp stair waitress was as bothered as Vicky Pollard. Was quite busy. Popadom, curry, sides and a couple of beers was £33 each so not too bad.

Had a wonderful meal from Gurkha Express, the customer service is excellent. I am vegan, and while there are only a couple of vegan specific items on the menu, they told us which meals they could make vegan by request as well as giving us recommendations. All in all a really great experience. Can't wait to order again.

First time visited, the Napalese dishes were great and so much better than a bog standard curry house. I can't wait to go back again. Well done Ghurka Express.

We called in early on Saturday night without booking a table. This was not a problem and we were given a choice of tables. The service was excellent from the start and continued throughout. Standard poppadoms and a selection of dips to start with then for the mains we ordered a butter chicken, Gurkha homestyle handi lamb and a chicken lawabdar. None of us are particularly fond of really hot spicy food, preferring flavour over heat. The dishes ordered most certainly delivered on that point. The meat was tender and portioned well, complimented by rich and creamy sauces. The roti naan breads are delicious, light and tasty, not stodgy like you would normally have. To conclude, I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to my friends and family and will most definitely be returning very soon. Thank you for a great evening!

Went here last Thursday, party of 3 and we all thought hands down the nicest Indian food we have had in a very long time. Chilli fish starter was simply divine and for once we were served Roti and Nann that is more towards the genuine article than the overly doughy fair usually knocked up for a western palette. Well done, and just as a side note I have no idea what the last reviewer was doing giving you guys a 1star rating. Just because something may not be to an individual’s taste does not make it bad.

not impressed at all, and not a patch on the old spice club. the chicken tikka masala is traditionally a mild dish which i prefer as i like to "savour the flavour", but the one i had was done hot and the heat detracts from enjoying the flavour. the pillar rice was as bland to the taste as it was to look at. the plain naan was rubbery/chewy, not light and airy, also on the small side. i only waste my money once and as such will not be going back under this ownership, a shame really as its the closest one to me.

This has to be the best takeaway in Melton! Definitely the best menu for variety, uniqueness and not just bog standard Indian like most places. Everything we've tried so far has been delicious and the service is fantastic, too.

The service was excellent from the moment we walked in the door to leaving. A fantastic meal with several (4) bottles of a very good House wine, between seven of us. I chose a Kashmiri Chicken Rogan Josh with a chicken Tikka starter and it was superb, Pilau rice and the omPoppadoms with chutneys were great, the staff were attentive from the beginning to the end of the meal, an altogether terrific experience, can’t wait to go back and would recommend this restaurant over and over again

The food was excellent and the atmosphere was really fun. The staff joined in with some silly games and engaging with all the people telling jokes and having fun. It was a really good night out.

Incredible food, service was exceptional!

To say I was disappointed with the food I ordered last night is an understatement. This was a real treat for me. I only ordered starters, meat samsoa & onion bhajee, chips & poppadoms. I also ordered a chilli & garlic curry sauce which just tasted like hot water with no flavour. The samosas were the size of dairylea triangle. Meat what meat. I have health issues & have to watch my salt content. The bhajee was the colour of beetroot and salt over powered the onions. I physically couldn't eat them. So I paid £16.00 for a bag of chips. Never again, I will not eat there.

OMG!! this place is a little gem! My partner booked it for my birthday 🥳. The staff were so attentive, caring, from when we arrived to when we left. The food was absolutely delicious!! and i can tell you at the age off 21 and a half plus vat, i have tried a lot of Indian food and my first month full was WOW!! i was speechless. I happen to mention it was my birthday 🎂 and they brought me a cake with an indoor firework. And then i was given a present 🎁 Everyone sang happy birthday, i had happy tears. This Indian restaurant is a very special place. My Granddaughter was with us and they also spoilt her. She loved it so much that we have booked it for her 16th birthday next month ❤️

Went on a whim a couple of weeks ago, having never been before, despite living in Melton 9 years......clearly our loss!! We ordered drinks and sat by the bar for a couple of minutes before being shown to our table. I absolutely detest places where you are sat so close to other diners you could almost share food from each others tables, but I found the Spice Club had ample room between tables. We started with poppadoms and pickles which were tasty. Our mains, my husband had the railway tali and I had lamb bhuna, were delicious. The service was outstanding and we had staff pop by the table to check all was well with the food. We will definitely go again and may even have the occasional takeaway from here.

I would recommend this resturant. The food was very nice. All the staff were very pleasant and nothing was too much. My only preference would be to have listened to softer back ground music.

We ordered tonight to take out 2 Kormas and 1 dhansak. Unfortunately the Kormas were extremely watery and flavourless. Really disappointed

Fantastic meal, my 9 year old son was very well looked after. The food was fantastic and good value, if we lived locally we would visit more often. Very very tasty, if you near and looking to eat definitely drop in.

Absolutely amazing, Food and service

Once again, a wonderful meal delivered to us last night. All the starters and every main course was eaten with much enjoyment, and everyone polished off their choice of main with obvious delight. It made for a great birthday meal. Uzzal and his staff excelled once again. This has been our go to Indian restaurant for many many years and we have never been disappointed. Naturally, our family will be ordering from the Spice Club once again in the near future.

It was the night before a family wedding (a Friday night). We were in Melton Mowbray, a town none of us were familiar with at all. We were a party of 12 needing to find somewhere to eat. The Spice Club was recommended to us and I'm so glad we went. Uzzal looked after us incredibly well; made us all feel so welcome and spoilt us throughout the whole evening. We had what was almost a hotel coffee and biscuit for an evening meal to the most fantastic and fun evening at the Spice Club. The food was so delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant and hope to visit again soon. Thank you Uzzal. You are an amazing host and your team are incredible. Can't wait to see you again in the near future.

The food at this restaurant is beyond amazing and consistently so. It's so fresh and noticeably free from oil. I tried the Thali recently and found it to be, without a doubt, the best I've ever eaten. The staff are friendly, the service is excellent and very reasonably priced. This is my 'go to' restaurant and is certainly one of the very best I've ever eaten in. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Had a lovely meal in The Spice Club the other night. Food was absolutely perfect. All the staff couldn’t do enough for me to make my meal a real delight. Uzzal the owner really is the perfect host. Will definitely be going again. There is parking right next door to the restaurant which is very convenient, and due to the numerous large signs situated around the car park I could see that there is a charge and paid the very small fee for my parking. Couldn’t really ask for more.

What a shame a great night was ruined by penalty notice for £60! I parked in the car park next to the restaurant which turns out to be not connected. Would have helped if the restaurant had a sign up stating this especially as the manager has informed me I am not the first person this has happened to! £140 bill and then £60 penalty notice, expensive night out!!
