Fantastic atmosphere and friendly staff. Food was excellent, hot and very tasty. Highly recommend and best meal we have had in a long time.

We went with friends as a group of 9 and had a fantastic meal. We had poppadoms to start and were given a variety of dips that were different and tasty. We were then given a delicious complimentary starter which was very tasty. The meal was fantastic from start to finish. I particularly liked the special vegetable rice which was full of fresh vegetables. We ended the meal with a complimentary short of baileys, whiskey or brandy. The service was excellent and the food delicious. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant. We had a great time.

My wife and I went here for a family meal with my in-laws. The food and service were both excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive. We had the onion bhajis and samosas to start which were well presented and tasty. We had four different mains with two rice and two naans. Everyone enjoyed their food and the plates were empty. The desserts were mostly ice cream based and the ones we tried were great. Overall we have a lovely meal in a great setting.

Very nice food, tasty and piping hot, beer was also good and a lovely atmosphere, staff very helpful and friendly. We will definitely return soon.

A laid-back, relaxed restaurant - don't be fooled by the 'express' in the title - this is the ideal spot for a contemplative curry. The staff know their trade well, and are attentive without becoming intrusive. The food is a judicious blend of Nepali styles and Indian classics, and it works a treat; don't miss the starters, as they are really something impressive. The by-the-glass house wines are well-chosen French vin de pays rather than mass-produced plonk, and even the beer selection has had some thought put into it. Every dish is good, many are excellent, and to top it all they don't charge a fortune either. Just give yourself time to enjoy it properly.

It is rare to find a jewel such as this in a sea of generic Indian restaurants. And it's not Indian, but Neapalese. After receiving a warm welcome from the friendly and staff, the food did not disappoint. Popadoms as a staple entree with some different chutneys, the chilli carrot was quite something. Would recommend the Momo starters, freshly made and very tasty. For a main either the Nepalese Lamb or the Nepal Home curry, incredible flavours and very different to a regular curry. All in all an excellent dining experience. Great service, great food and good value.

Visited with family. High quality food, well spiced and well presented. Throughly recommended. We ordered 3 separate dishes to share and each one was distinctly individual in flavour. Great really fresh naan accompaniments. Have eaten plenty of curries over the years and this restaurant is right up there in quality. Charming service and the location in an old town pub added to a very enjoyable visit. Thank you.

MrDW choose this place due to the Nepalese food. We went quite early & were the only people there so we got all the attention. The man who served us was word perfect & had impeccable manners, he was good! If I wanted to employ someone to deal with my customers I would want him. I felt a bit claustrophobic in the champagne bar in the back, although I suppose I could’ve asked to sit in the bar area. But I believe that the guys who deliver the takeaway food were in there waiting for the orders. The food was most enjoyable, MrDW had the Madras & raved about his naan with cheese, whilst I had an excellent Saag. I thought the wine a little bit expensive for a glass so I had a beer, MrDW had a cider. I’d highly recommend this place.

After finding no tables free at the Empress of India or Purple Garlic, we tried Gurkha Express for the first time since it changed from being Spice Club, and were so glad we did. Having recently been to Nepal, I found it a particularly exciting experience and found the food even better than the usual Indian fair on offer in Melton. We were concerned at first as it was really quiet but the staff were brilliant, food superb (I had Poppadoms, Momos and Chicken Nepal with rice and Peshwari Naan) and Kasper did an excellent job making us feel welcome. We will definitely being returning and recommending it to our friends.

Went here last Thursday, party of 3 and we all thought hands down the nicest Indian food we have had in a very long time. Chilli fish starter was simply divine and for once we were served Roti and Nann that is more towards the genuine article than the overly doughy fair usually knocked up for a western palette

Visited this newly openef restaurant and what an experience, really excellent food, friendly staff and realistic prices. Will definitely go back. Best Indian restaurant in Melton Mowbray from a resident of over 40 years.

Had a take away; great tasting dish and the lamb tasted fantastic and was so tender. Best curry I have had in the UK.

Visited with a couple of friends and had a great evening. It is well presented and the food is absolutely brilliant. The staff/service was excellent too! Really look forward to visiting again!

Me and my family went to the newly opened Gurkha Express Melton last week and let me tell you the place was absolutely beautiful. The staff were very polite and friendly. The food was spectacular and flavourful. Will definitely be visiting again and would definitely recommend.

Wow! Just delicious food, We had previously been to this restaurant under different management and it was spot on so we wanted to come back and try the new menu under the owners and woahhhh… exceptional. So it’s slightly different to a curry restaurant but oh my word please go here and try the different ghurka cuisine. I could have ordered everything on the menu it all sounded so good. I opted for ghurka lamb it was a dream, creamy spicy and the lamb so tender. All our party had something different and each one of us said how it was the best curry we have had. The breads were piping hot and delicious, the rice was perfect and the popadoms and pickle tray to start was unreal. Honestly I have eaten at so many curry places but this one has to be the top right now. The owner came over to us to chat and tell us about his passion of food and cooking the freshest tasting dishes which really made the meal. This place is a gem. All finer details like cutlery/ glasses and the after dinner wipes are luxury. It was very busy when we arrived but we were seen within 5 mins and just shows how the place is getting busy now so booking would be advisable. We weee that impressed we ordered a takeout for a family member who couldn’t make it. Overall I would definitely recommend this restaurant as the food it’s absolutely incredible!!! Can’t wait to go back next time I am in Melton.
