The chicken was over cooked and I got 2 prawns for 12 pounds it wasn't very good

Really sad to say, its rudest Indian restaurant I have ever seen. We went there to celebrate birthday of my brother in law, with my 2 kids 8yrs and 4yrs old, they were told off by a lady manager to keep quiete. Seriously? Also, all the staff were super stressed and paniced by the orders, really won’t recommened for a family with kids. Food is decent, but can’t sit longer there.

Overpriced ordered prawns for twelve pounds only got two!!!!!!! Absolute garbage!!! Like what is this and they didn’t even flippin taste nice

Really enjoyed this restaurant. Cute place with really nice music and food. We tried few dishes. Food was very tasty. Ordered some fish ( they brought something else) but immediately recovered and made it right. Staff was nice. Service takes a while (they said they were coming back but maybe they forgot 😅) Overall very good, we didn’t mind anything as all was delicious 😆

The good in this place is spectacular. Meat is always succulent. Salad is always fresh. The food is packed with flavour. The staff are very attentive. They make you feel like family. I would Highly recommend this place. Especially if you would fresh, flavoured Indian food.

Great staff, very attentive and friendly. Lovely vibe and atmosphere but food was disappointing given the price and previous reviews. Very poor Pani Puri, (Starter), filling was minimal and came with far too much spiced water. Have had many Pani Puri's in the past so expected much more substance to the dish. The lamb dish, although tasty was over cooked to a point where the lamb had disintegrated into non existent pieces. I'm all for tender, "fall off the bone" meat but there's a point at which it becomes overcooked. Overall disappointing, Hale prices but not reflected in the quality of food.

What a lovely place! The atmosphere is superb, informal and fun with brilliant, attentive (but not intrusive) staff, and clean smart decor. Menu is interesting enough to tempt you to try something new, and very reasonably priced - a lot cheaper than I would have expected for such a smart restaurant in a nice area. Food was excellent: delicious, fresh and fast enough to demonstrate an efficient kitchen. I will definitely return - for me it’s well worth the 15 mile trip! Highly recommended - go see for yourself.

Awesome food and great ambience. We had 1. Chilli paneer. - very good taste. Paneer could have been softer 2. Avocado chat - very good and very different 3. Chana puri and Halva - outstanding. The halva was to die for 4. Paneer makhani - was the highlight of the afternoon. One of the best I have had in a long long time. The kids loved it to bits. 5. Black daal - again, outstanding. Very creamy and very good taste. Highly recommend. Only bummer is they charge £4.5 for a bottle Of still water which is a ripoff. We had 3 bottles and the water alone cost £13.5

My family and I visited this weekend on two separate occasions, two because the first was just so good! All the food is beautifully prepared and tastes absolutely delicious. The ambience is a delight with nice music and superb design throughout the restaurant. To top things off, everyone is extremely attentive and Valeria continues to go above and beyond to ensure the most perfect of visits. Thank you very much, we can’t wait to visit again!

Everything about this place is amazing, the food the atmosphere and especially Valeria, an asset to your team. If you are looking for some amazing food with a twist, I would definitely recommend

I have eaten in the restaurant and really enjoyed it. We decided to order via Deliveroo. Unfortunately arrived Cold (more Deliveroo) . The food tasted nice but the portion size with the Deliveroo take away are ridiculous. Papads - £4.50 and we only get 2 whole ones (I am being generous). £6.90 Chicken murgh malaria - main only get half a chicken breast (see photo). Paying restaurant prices and you get less food than if you were in the restaurant! Left a real sour taste as It has been good experience in the past. My advice don’t order via Deliveroo they reduce portion size to offset the Deliveroo commission they have to pay. I won’t be doing that again

Do not go there if you want to have real indian meal.. Food was nicely presented and visually convinng but failed to equally satisfy in taste . It mostly tase like they add sauce of each food to chicken and lamb... Taste of butter chicken was like when you cook chicken and add to Tesco butter chicken sauce, same for roghan josh... My friend has byryani, it was not real biryani at all

By far the easiest review I have ever made. Incredible food, service was warm and friendly, amazing bar staff. Honestly the best restaurant I have ever been in. Highly recommend!!!!!

Why i m giving ONE star? Wonderful place and average taste and good ambiance but with highly fleecing and ripping prices. This was the first time i ever had one naan bread less than 100gram, for £4 during last 17 years. Chicken karahi was having only 4 boneless pieces for £13.50. Chili chicken had same figure. Chana masala was having hardly one table spoon of chick peas for £8.50. Kids meal had only 8 piece of potatoe fries and two small chicken cubes in butter curry for £13.50. After seeing all this i never had courage to buy any drink. I paid £97 for six people and none of them was having any sort of fill. For me total should be maximum £50. The snobbery of being Hale Restaurant is purely designed to rip people off their hard earned money. I strongly believe that even workers inside are getting national wage regardless they show off working in 'Hale'. Then why customers have to pay ridiculous prices for portion worth 1/4th of price charged. Service was average but decent. I requested for naan bread four times then it came and curry became cold by then. So i used spoon to finish my curry as i never leave food waste behind. I will always say if you have money to throw in guttet then go there. You can have 100 times better food in Rusholme for 50% less then what i spent there and all were hungry at the end.

Authentic Indian cuisine but also fusion options, every mouthful was delicious and exquisitely presented, friendly efficient service. Lovely decor - we dined early, which was fortunate as a loud group arrived and was seated close-by as we finished our main course.

Excellent family evening Christmas Eve !! Had a lovely warm welcome staff and service was wonderful. The menu was varied and we thoroughly enjoyed. Food had nice taste and we enjoyed everything we ate !!

Booked for our anniversary meal. My wife had been before and really rated it. Sadly wasn’t as great as expected. Lacked flavour and spice throughout. Chicken and shish was just about cooked, which is fine, but lacked the flavour. Service was excellent throughout.

Nothing but fantastic experiences here. The food is always exquisite and the general atmosphere is a pleasure to be a part of. I have celebrated several events at Gupshup and Valeria and her staff have always been warm, welcoming and provided exceptional service. I cannot recommend this place enough and always look forward to coming again!

Went with friends. Nice building and Christmas decor. Food was disappointingly bad. Popadoms came with chutneys which were very artificial looking and tasted very sugary . Had the kale chaat and nearly broke a. filling trying to eat it. The pop corns in it were like eating polystyrene. Not sure what kind of a chef would allowed this to leave the kitchen . My friend had the tadka daal which had a very strange flavour and she just could not eat it . Ended up returning both dishes and got a refund. Nans were not very nice. Although the staff were polite and friendly they kept wanting to clear away when we were clearly still eating. I will not be recommending this place to anyone. Very disappointing experience.

I ordered lamb biryani, the meat was not cooked properly and I have no idea how it's been classed as authentic because it was rice and lamb gravy really with no proper seasoning. The food was delivered cold For the price it is not worth it sadly

Hadn’t been back here for a while but it was very good - the food was clearly prepared to order and was lovely flavours throughout. Some restaurants seem to have a base sauce but each of our dishes and the sauces were clearly individually made, really nice. Staff were great also and service top notch.

Gupshup is without a doubt the BEST restaurant in Hale/Altrincham. The food is amazing and the service is second to none. We often eat in the restaurant and also order take away and the standard is always excellent. All members of the team are warm, welcoming, attentive and extremely professional, in particular Valeria and Ben who always go the extra mile. I honestly cannot recommend Gupshup enough.

We went for dinner here on Sunday 22/10, and were completely blown away by how fabulous this place is. Don’t think of it as an Indian restaurant it’s an experience. Food was just amazing, flavours I had never had before, some traditional street food options, which we had never seen before. All delicious and cooked to perfection. Served by really fabulous staff. The cocktails were exquisite! The Hermilya, is a must, bespoke to the restaurant, Pink Gin, Blue Curasco, & lychee syrup … I had 3. We would definitely be back soon, if only we lived closer x 💕

Last weekend my family and I went to celebrate a special occasion and we were absolutely delighted with amazing food, warm and welcoming reception of the manager Valeria and Ben, with attention to details, fantastic choice of refined wines and finesse in delicate and sophisticated dishes. Utterly enjoyed the whole experience!!! Superb!!!

Excellent dining experience, friend welcome from all the staff. Food was stunning, the service was great, we asked for a couple of extra side accompaniments and this was no trouble at all. The restaurant itself is a modern design, and the bar area is a nice addition, we waited there until our family arrived. The team even made my husbands 40th birthday super special with a lovely unexpected surprise, with a birthday song too. We would all highly recommend GupShup in Hale for superb Indian food with fantastic knowledgeable staff to host your evening. Thanks to all the team

I had heard great things about Gupshup before visiting with a few friends, and they absolutely nailed it, exceeding expectation. Very high quality service, food, and drinks, classy decor and warm atmosphere. The Dahi Puri, veg Bhajis, butter chicken and lamb shank were especially loved. Will be back soon! <3

Recent visit for dinner which was very nice. The place is fitted out to a premium standard and the staff we dealt with were great. Especially the young table waitress. But the experience was tarnished by what turned into a tipping fiasco. We get the bill and the waitress comes over and has to explain that the service included in the bill is just for the chefs. Ie please add on another for us. I don't have a problem tipping but the waitress was not confident in asking. She looked uncertain and embarrassed. And it doesn't look good on the restaurant

Dropped in one Saturday early evening with the plan of having a quick drink and maybe a snack. Upon arrival we were met with the wonderful smells of the food being prepared in the kitchen. 5 minutes later we decided to eat dinner and had a wonderful 2-course dinner with our children. We always find the restaurant immaculate, staff very attentive and food of a high standard - tonight was no different. Two of us shared the chicken wing starter (original plan) followed by a tandoori seabass and a lamb biryani and naans. Our children ate a korma and cod portion. All of the food was excellent (as usual) and we will be revisiting very soon.

Had lunch visiting family in Hale! What a lovely meal we all had and two teenage children were very enthusiastic also about the whole experience! Some very nice little extras which has whetted appetites to revisit as soon as possible.

We made a booking on a Saturday at 8:30 pm. The place was full. My husband and I were ushered to our table by their manager. We ordered our drinks GupShup Spritz and another non alcoholic cocktail which is very refreshing . We had nibbles of pappodams and tray of chutney/dips. We ordered appetisers ..broccoli salad, spicy chicken with dips, grilled lamb chops, basket of different flavoured naans, my favourite was the truffled naan. It was all delicious. Our main course was..lamb rogan josh so flavourful and chicken kebab, basmati rice so delicious but we can’t finish as we were full with our appetisers. The staff were so welcoming, courteous and polite especially the one who served us, his name was Charlie very pleasant and polite waiter. The place is very clean, and I love their ladies room, as if I’m in a five star hotel. Overall the experience was really good, food was excellent! I can highly recommend this place. The best Indian Restaurant in Cheshire. We will definitely come back again.

Disappointed is an understatement, everything from the lighting (too dark, could barely see what I was eating) we ordered PAPDI CHAAT which was not the best I’ve had but Chilli Chicken was the worst tasting dish I’ve ever eaten. For what they charge the quality of food especially the chicken what Bad, all I could taste was Garlic. I don’t expect 5 star dining but this was probably the worst restaurant experience in a long time. Definitely wouldn’t go again and wouldn’t recommend either.

As an indian the food felt like home, service was very good especially from Aimee, catered to all my dietary needs and she was extremely helpful. Will recommend

The food was great which justified the relatively high prices. Smart interior but with too many mirrors, very distracting. Staff not so great. Inexperienced or poorly trained and forever interrupting with inane questions and their fingers all over the tops of glasses and edges of dishes. Interestingly not an Indian in sight...

Wow! This place is outstanding. The food is very luscious and the spice of the food is very good. This place isn’t really for children but if they try the Butter Chicken and Truffle Naan, they will love it!

Super tasty food! Super quick service! Only average dish was the vegan fake meat starter. Everything else was amazing. The Dahl Makhani was delicious! Only thing to improve is some kind of sound dampening as was difficult to hear what people were saying.

Had our engagement party here, the entire restaurant booked. No decor required as they have put a lot of effort into designing the interior, food was perfect could not fault it at all. All the staff ensured the event went smoothly and took away all the stress in managing the event.

After reading raving reviews about Gupshup we decided to pay Gupshup a visit for a celebratory evening with friends. Unfortunately, we were let down by the attitude of one of the staff who spoilt our relaxed evening by indirectly making comments about bringing our 3 year olds into the restaurant. I agree they were a bit noisy but the entire restaurant was so noisy that we could barely hear each other. If children are not allowed and people have problems with families taking photographs of their outings with friends, I would appreciate the website to kindly mention so. Gupshup mentions it to be a place “where you can relax, share in a conversation and enjoy amazing food and drink”, and a place that claims to “welcome everyone to enjoy really, really good food and invite you to enjoy some laid-back luxury GupShup styles”- so astonishingly different to the experience we had today. The food was okay, not to the standards I would have seen in some other Indian restaurants. We did not feel welcomed at all. Ambience was great but of course, as the staff rightly mentioned to us, which we hadn’t even noticed until then, spoilt by the presence of wine rack on one side. I am afraid, this is a no goer for us ever again, simply because families with small children are frowned upon.

We dined here last night for my husbands birthday and was extremely disappointed. After seeing some good reviews we decided to try Gupshup for the first time. Perhaps we went on an off night? But the food was bland. The starters were over cooked and tasteless. The veggie korma was frozen carrots & peas in korma sauce and in all honesty, I have tasted better from an M&S ready meal. One of the dishes was removed from our bill, as it was so bad. The staff were quite nice and the decor is too but the food has a long way to go.

One of the best lunches. Saturday afternoon sitting outside watching the world go by. We decided to try a few sharing options so went for the meat sharing platter - kebab, chicken & salmon plus the Thali (think I’ve spelled it correctly). Absolutely loved it. Definitely a cut above most other Indian / Asian restaurants. Staff were very attentive and food arrived quickly.

Me and my partner had a lovely time, great vibe on a Friday night, had the Paneer dish and loved it ! The waitress Amy was fantastic and very polite, even recommended a few spots for us to try out in Hale.

Food absolutely delicious but the menu was a little bit too limited, I know too much choice can be off putting, but I would have preferred a few more options.

Starters: We got the dahi puri. Good sized portion and it tasted delicious and fresh. Mains: The tandoori salad was amazing, highly recommend. The portion of chicken in this salad was generous and it was very filling. The Aloo ghobi (cauliflower and potato curry) was also delicious but only 2 small pieces of potato amongst the cauliflower. The butter chicken was very good, decent portion size and nice taste - very creamy. The rice portions were very small, felt like each individual needed 1.5- 2 portions to be able to enjoy their curry. Overall, great experience. Good quality food, good portion sizes (except for sides/rice) and nice atmosphere. I would visit again just to have that tandoori salad!

Entertained a highly valued business colleague at GupShup for lunch last Thursday at from around 1pm to 2.45pm before playing a round of golf. Enjoyed the "almost" authentic Indian Street food starters (Bombay Bhel and Aloo Thikki) along with a "wake up" spicy lamb rogan gosh accompanied by rotis. I would avoid the aloo thikki plus the rotis next time as they didn't play their true authentic parts! The inside of the restaurant was surprisingly virtually emply and most quiet with little of no atmosphere for a Thursday lunchtime and l told my business contact that it was because l had booked the whole restaurant in his honour as l did not wish papparatzi to find us there or anyone hearing our immensely confidential discussions! Lol. Must say Callum the bar manager was amazing wirh Nicole who served us great too. The service by both was impressive and touched my soul! On Sunday it was my birthday and after being entertained to a superb lunch, followed by a gorgeous birthday cake with two huge sparklers at Manchester, l decided to live up my special day again, plus that of one of our good lady friend, alongside my wife at GupShup for dinner. It was their first experience at GupShup. We ordered Bombay Bhel again plus think it's called Dhal (shells with yoghurt, spices with a hint of hot sauce). We very strongly highlighted twice when ordering that one of the lady's was allergic to mint and to make sure there wasn't any within our ordered dishes. Unfortunately the yogurt shell dish tasted with a hint of mint and l quickly alerted Callum the bar manager l had got to know well on Thursday - before there was any serious reaction to the individual who was allergic to mint. Callum alerted Valeria the Italian, gem of a manager at GupShup, who quickly came over to address the incident and had the dish remade for us ensuring there was no mint in it. Perfect! It was a great recovery by both Callum and Valeria and did great pride to GupShup. Well done both. We again ordered the very tasty lamb rogan gosh with roti (to assess if they were any better this time round) along with a safer option of rice if the roti still didnt playing its true part. Sad to say the roti was way over cooked and more conducive to leading a life of a papadum! At all times my feedback was constructive criticism (to get better at what they do as opposed to being destructive) when pointing out to Valeria and asked her to try out the papadum like roti! Told her roti's are best soft to curl round the lamb rogan gosh. Overall we all enjoyed our two visits (within a short period of just 4 days) and would certainly go to dine again at GupShup but would not hestitate to point out again how it should be - especially being an experienced Indian myself, with many a times being astounded to eating great indian street plus other food at home! On a finishing note huge thanks to Callum, Valeria, Nicole plus Lauren "the potential lawyer" in recovering the situation when needed plus treating me and our lady guest on our birthday to a severely overcooked and very hard chocolate tart!!! with gorgeous chocolate ice cream. We didn't point out the overcooked, hard to eat (especially the outer shell), chocolate tart as we felt it was a birthday compliment by GupShup and it would have bern one too many lessons to point out in a single day! Lol. Nonetheless l am still open to revisiting and gradually seeing GupShup reach the perfection Callum, Nicole, Lauren and Valeria so highly are striving for. They are great assets for GupShup proprietors who must beware that too.many Indian.connoisseurs are likely to be their customers and so.need to perfect the authentic Indian food experience each time, every time.

Went out for a family meal, staff amazing and could not do enough. Food to die for, so authentic, surrounding so beautiful and clean. Can't recommend enough. 10 out of 5.

This is an exceptional restaurant. A warm friendly atmosphere from the moment we walked in with staff who are clearly trained to provide the high level of service which I would expect at only the best restaurants. I would recommend an evening working your way down the cocktail list, the seating area outside is one of the most comfortable and well placed in Hale for a bit of people watching The food is excellent, with a mix of traditional and modern Indian dishes. Really great balance of flavours, I love the Naanwich, the lamp chops and the prawns. Chickpea dahl is just like my Matajee used to make! Look forward to coming back soon!

What a disappointment. Does not meet the asian palate - all the food was bland and tasteless. Overpriced and to top it off what miserable staff. The waitresess couldn't even crack a smile. If you are after proper asian food - please give this a miss. They do not cater. I probably hadn't written this review if your staff had been lovely. When we were asked how our food was, and we gave feedback that it was underseasoned one of the staff got quite defensive - don't ask if you can't listen.
