Mela in Trafford

After reading the good reviews for the mela i dicided to give this place another go as few years ago went downhill. I ordered the chicken tikka vindaloo and pilau rice after reading how good it was on a reveiw and the customer photo it looked amazing a deep rich ruby red! Got home opened it up to find no smell to the curry at all very strange! Upon tasting it or to be more correct NOT tasting it as it didn't taste of anything stranger still! The color of the curry was a yellowish brown! Chef clearly hasn't a clue how a vindaloo should be prepared i could given this to my 6 year old grand daughter! Needless to say won't be back!

tarka dhal was pretty salty and the chicken just a teeny bit dry, but it was tasty overall. had a curry in the restaurant recently and it was amazing

Best Curry In Urmston. IMO. Always give great service and the food is absolutely top notch. Madras is just right strength and the beef melts in the mouth. Bring own drinks keeps cost down not that the meals are expensive anyway. Definitely give it a go if you haven't already.

After being away on vacation .we always come for an Indian here.we-are never disappointed .Miz and his staff are always very attentive .and the food is always fresh and tasty.we had the Tandoori fish and king prawn puri for starters.excellent. Main course was Lamb chefs special .fabulous I had the mela special biryani again full of flavour and big portions . Great value for money . Remember to bring your own drinks as they are not licensed Tony /nina

Bland food. Instead of correcting the wrong order served, the waiter decided to just change the order on the receipt.

not sure what had happened but when I arrived for a party there wasn't enough seats, 3 of us said we would have another small table but that was booked, we were left standing for about 15 mins with no-one trying to sort out. we finally got seated at end, Asked for a bottle of wine to be corked, which he did no problem but never fetched any glasses, had to ask, and to top it they whipped away a table to accommodate another party which left me putting stuff on the floor as we were so cramped. we left without ordering, I just couldn't believe how unprofessional they were. we were just innocent members of a party, and was totally ignored

Order with 2 left out items, restaurant not able to deliver full order. On phoning they said I could ask for a refund but seem complicated

Worst experience ever from getting there with a party off 25 4 extra people turned up they did put a table on the end thank you then nearly 1 hours later without any food they pulled a table away from us very strange behavior from the start it looked like they would struggle in the end I phoned a different indian up and they accommodate us with no problem all I can say is they lost out on over £500

The food was excellent but some of waiters not welcoming at all, no smile, not friendly and this is very important for business as well. It does not cost much to smile!!! That is why I put that rating.

Be cautious if you have nut or peanut allergies - had a bad reaction after having a regular favourite dish - must be cross contamination

Yummy food, quick delivery - could have done with a bit more chicken in the curry but what was there was delicious.

Driver delivered order and also took cash. I had already paid by debit card. I had a chat on line and was told to contact the police

Sent a wrong curry instead of what I ordered which wasn’t at all to my taste. Wouldn’t replace it as they don’t deliver orders themselves. Really disappointed.

Ordered a delivery and it came really quickly, my food was perfect but they sent the wrong meal for my partner. When he rang they said they’d send the correct one within twenty mins, half an hour later we called back and they said they wouldn’t be sending another meal as they don’t do delivery’s? Very dissapointed and won’t be ordering again, which is a shame because the food is good when it’s right

Loved the food, and BYOB makes it a nice affordable night. Tables are close together in some places meaning conversation can be overheard by those next to you. Staff friendly and polite. Would go back again.

Following the good reviews , we ordered a takeaway. I had the mixed grill starter which was ok, but the onion bhaji had been reheated as it was solid in the middle. My wife had the fish, but this was over cooked but the curry sauce was pleasant. I requested that my chicken chili was to be vindaloo hot, but the person who took the order forgot to tell the chef as this was quite warm but certainly not a madras nor a vindaloo...... The lentil dhal/sag dish was excellent. we will not be revisiting/or ordering a takeaway.

Garbage, won't be ordering again. Chicken dry in all dishes and frankly much better food at other Indian's in the area.

Just a brilliant, no frills Indian restaurant. Friendly staff, comfortable, fantastic food the Vindaloo was gorgeous. Really reasonable prices. BYOB too! I'll be back.

Ordered a tandoori mixed grill and only got chicken, not a mixed grill (still got charged the extra 50p though), says they had issues with lamb thats why they didn't serve it but failed to mention that until after the food was here, also didn't get 10% off when I ordered on the phone like shown on the menu. The guy on the phone is hasty to get off and clearly struggles to maintain focus. Won't be ordering here again. Sad really because food ain't that bad but customer service quality is dead. Seems like they need a refresher course.

We love this Indian restaurant and it has become our weekly place to visit. They don't serve beer, but you are welcome to take your own drinks. The staff are always lovely and polite and the food is always outstanding 👌 it is a very reasonable place to eat price wise and only costs around £35 for our food. We usually have poppadoms & chutneys, a mixed starter for 2 (really good and only £7.50) chicken bhuna, chicken tikka jalfrezi, mushroom rice, pilau rice, naan bread. Its well worth a visit. They do takeaways too, which always seems very popular. Probably best to book at weekends as it can get busy.

Food was less than average. Cold, 4 pieces of Chicken in each meal, no meat in the Keema Nan. Been eating here for years and not sure I will return.

It's our "go to" Indian of choice. Why? Food is reasonably priced, good-sized portions, you can take your own booze and the food quality is excellent. I don't think I've ever had a bad curry from here. The Mela naan is the best! (Be warned, it's got a bite)

Had a table reserved for 10:30 on a Friday night. We were surprisingly the only ones in so service was quick. I had the sizzling chicken korma and it was cooked to perfection! Would definitely recommend

The dopiaza that was requested as mild was not remotely mild. And ruined a meal for one of our party. Everything else was okay but this sadly impacted one person's enjoyment.

Lost count of the amount of curry houses I've tried and albeit there's some amazing ones knocking about in town, for the price, the Mela is amazing and remains my go to for local grub and takeaway. 👍

Another great curry in this well established front room Ruby Murray haunt. Shared a curry and starter with a mate after a few sasperellas in Ken boons (Bill Whethers) and loved the place. Keep up the good work Mela we all love your restaurant but please sort the miserable waiter out and stop putting us on the wonky donky Billy no mates tabke

Just had another takeout 5th June 22 Off The Sunday Takeaway Special-Food Lovely As Always They Changed Lamb Option To Chicken No Fuss Plenty Of It A Very Nominal Extra Charge As I Wanted 3 Different Nan Breads. Try It , Take Away Or Eat In You Will Love It.

Food was gorgeous but just didn’t listen to my requests of the sauce I wanted. Not to worry but this brings the rating down.

The poppadoms were completely broken into loads of little pieces. The massala one was absolutely disgusting and inedible. The korma was a bit watery. Everything else was fine.

Excellent food at a reasonable price.

This was the second time we ordered from the Mela. The first time we enjoyed it but this time, it was just not the same. First off, nothing wrong with the delivery time... that was on time. Really pleased with that. However there was quite a few problems. We opened the bag and the fish bhuna we ordered had leaked completely out of its container and ruined all of the other main courses. The poppadums were smashed to crumbs too but they were free so suppose cant moan about them really! Then we realised the tandoori masala was missing so at this point I rang the restaurant to tell them what had happened. The man who answered said I could come and collect the masala but that was it. I explained we had paid for delivery but he just said we dont deliver, sort it out with justeat and the call was ended. Cant believe how rude it was! I get places have their bad nights but 99% of the time they can't do enough to put the situation right. I understand the driver could be at fault about the condition of the food when it arrived but surely they must have responsibility for not packing all the items?! I did clearly hear someone in the background saying the masala was still there. Won't be going back and sticking with Spice of India from now on.

Been looking for a decent chicken and keema dish for a while and the Shahee Chicken didn't disappoint.

Absolutely excellent service all round super quick delivery, all the food was absolutely delicious,fresh,hot,as for my stuffed paratha it was cooked to how I asked….thank-you it was perfection for me….your onion bhajis were the best I’ve tasted in years light as a feather and mildly crisped. I did not receive my order, because I explained to the driver on the phone that I was struggling with walking, due to having crutches. The driver then left without leaving the food and refused to bring the food when I rang.

we've been searching for an indian delivery that does mild options for meals that are actually mild; this is the first restaurant that's actually achieved this! I can still have my spicy food too so we're both really happy. on top of that the food was delicious, dead happy we've finally found our go-to!
