Guardbridge Inn in Fife

My son and l had a fabulous lunch here on 14 th March, the food was great as was the service a very pleasant girl who was so helpful and prompt, would definitely recommend a visit here!

After a long drive from Inverness, we came across the Guardbridge Inn on a Monday night, when it was dark and rainy. The inn was pretty much empty, but we were welcomed by a warm log fire, and the person who I think was the landlady, who could not do enough to make us feel comfortable. Food was good and much needed. Will call again if ever in the area.

I recently visited this little pub twice for dinner and both visits were lovely. The portions are large and the food is delicious. The vegetarian burger is very good, as are the fish and chips. There are two seating areas - a more casual one at the front by the bar and a nice cozy but more modern restaurant area at the back. The service on both visits was excellent - the waitress who served us was probably the smiliest, sweetest waitress I’ve ever come across! We were lucky to get a table on a Friday night though, as it’s obviously popular and the dining areas are quite small. Will definitely be back!

Excellent in every way from the service to the meal 5 stars all the way and we will return next time we are in the area.

Had a fabulous roast wirh trimmings today with my son. We loved it and the derrero roche sundae after just finished off an axcellent lunch. Staff were attentive and helpful. Will be back x

Popped in with my wife for lunch on the recommendation of friends, service was excellent waitress was friendly and attentive without being too overbearing, we both had Scampi and chips and a dessert, the scampi had a nice crispy batter and was lovely and moist inside, the chips were crisp with a fluffy texture, I had Chocolate Brownie and ice cream for pudding, and without doubt it was one of the tastiest brownies I’ve had, it had a lovely crisp chocolate top with a lovely moist base. My wife had affogatto which came with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream. Total cost including 2 soft drinks was £42.00

Great find for a delicious lunch. Wonderful welcome. The food is delicious and freshly prepared. It’s a shame that we don’t live near by otherwise we would be regulars

Our group of tandem cyclists (from a club for blind and visually impaired cyclists) were greeted with a warm welcome and a lovely platter of sandwiches at the Guardbridge Inn. The outside seating behind the Inn gave us a lovely spacious and peaceful spot with a good view of the estuary. The staff were so helpful and kind. Our whole group were very pleased with our choice of lunch stop today, so this will be our first choice next time we have a ride in North East Fife! Very glad we discovered this wee gem.

In the area again, so we decided to pop in for a drink. Such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We decided to sit inside, as you get plastic glasses if sitting outside, even for wine and spirits, however if you order a bottle of beer, you get it in the bottle- don't really understand their reasoning behind plastic glasses. The place was quite busy, a few locals at the bar, and a few people eating. Personally, I would like to see the front area more relaxed, more of a lounge bar, rather than tables set for meals. Overall though, we enjoyed our drinks 

Popped in for a quick bar tea on a rainy night. Lovely warm room and friendly service. Nice to get home cooked food and not fried everything. Lamb made and gravy, chicken mash and haggis bon bons, fish and chips all great. Soup was a bit thin though. Nice drinks, good prices. Definitely worth a visit.

Stopped at this cute inn at the edge of the road and blown away with the quality of the food having had the sea bass, burger and the haddock and topped off with a perfect biscoff cheesecake beautifully presented. Service fantastic

After booking for a family birthday dinner, 23 of us descended on the GB hotel. Friendly attentive staff on arrival. Service was really good, with the food being excellent. 23 thumbs up for the Restaurant. Will definitely return. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Really nice meal....Staff very friendly,helpful and attentive. Real fire always welcome the setting is really nice . Only a very small comment is portion size could be a little bigger on the meat side. I would have given top marks but for this.

I visited on Sunday, as we do on most Sundays, and I would HIGHLY recommend the roast beef dinner. The best that I have tasted! The service is exceptional, and the dining is first-class, a gem of a place.

We stopped here whilst out for an afternoon drive.We ate in the small bar, staff were very attentive, menu and drink order were with us immediately.We had the twice baked cheese soufflé and haggis fritters to start, haddock & Chips and chicken parmigiana for main, Apple crumble and the absolute to die for chocolate brownie for dessert. Could not fault the food or excellent service. Will definitely make a return visit

Stopped off here for a drink, while walking the Fife Coastal Path. First drink, we ordered at the bar, but chose to sit in their large outdoor area, overlooking the River Eden. Next drink, we ordered through their app, great working app, so easy to use and drinks arrived quickly. All staff we encountered with were friendly and welcoming. We didn't eat on this occasion but the food looked lovely and reasonably priced. Would we go back - YES, DEFINITELY

We visited the Guardbridge Inn, for the first time, on the spur of the moment. The staff wherefriendly and very welcoming. We had the choice of outside seating or sitting inside. Menus were provided immediately and a drink order taken and delivered promptly. Food is good, reasonably priced pub fare, nothing fancy or pretentious, just high quality local produce, simply prepared. Our meals arrived promptly and service continued to be friendly and efficient. We sat in the bar area but there is also a dining area and tables outside, to the front of the pub. Behind the pub is a huge garden, on the banks of the River Eden, with tons of space, tables and a children's play area. Our bill for the evening was very reasonable, especially compared to the prices in St Andrews near-by. Do yourselves a favour, give the expensive and largely mediocre eating places of St Andrews a miss and try the simple and enjoyable offerings of The Guardbridge Inn. We will be making this a regular eating place.

Went here 3 times in our week’s stay in Kincaple. Friendly and helpful staff. Great food every time and the Sunday lunch was fab.

We've been regular visitors to the area for many years and have seen the food & service @ Guardbridge Inn gradually deteriorate over the past view years. Our most recent and last visit involved standing in the bar for 5 minutes, waiting for staff to make an appearance. We were eventually hand a limited menu, this is when it got really strange. Upon ordering our drinks and food, the server appeared with to takeaway box's with our food to eat in the garden with plastic cutlery.The food itself- chilli nachos and a prawn marie baked potato were very poorly presented and obviously made with low grade ingredients. To the Guardbridge Inns credit, the Baked Potato was so bad they didnt charge for it once we brought it to their attention.Re the lack of plates, service etc- why would anyone make an effort to visit an inn to be handed a takeaway box & plastic cutlery?

Decided to visit the Guardbridge Inn as we had driven passed many times on the way to St Andrews without stopping. And we are very glad that we did. Lovely location on the River Eden with a very nice garden seating area and children's play space. Staff were brilliant, very friendly and helpful. Even offered to make 'just right' hot milk for my son. He loved it. Food was excellent as well. Just wish we had had space for a pudding...maybe next time. Atmosphere and decor and wonderful too. We will definitely be back to this amazing find.

Really lovely food served here. The sirloin steak and onion rings, along with the haddock and chips were very tasty. The staff were friendly and the place itself is cosy.

We had stopped off here for refreshments during a cycle last year and liked the atmosphere so decided to come for a meal this time. Great reception and very friendly and attentive staff. Good choice on the menu. I went for an old favourite - Cullen Skink. Did a double take when it arrived - a piece of fish and veg on a plate with a separate jug of liquid soup. But it was outstanding - great flavours and great presentation - certainly not ordinary pub grub! The rest of our choices were equally good - antipasta as a starter on our request, mushroom stroganoff (not my usual to go for a veggie option but well worth it) and an excellent rump steak. This was our first meal out during our holiday week. Strongly tempted to switch some of our other bookings but will be back. Thanks and congratulations to Claire and her team on creating a real winner here.

Had lunch here today, excellent service, very friendly staff, couldn't do enough to make sure you were served, food was brilliant especially the fish and chips and antipasti. Had a fantastic meal at the GBI last night. As usual Claire & Tang accommodated my very picky needs. Food was so good and we were so full we couldn’t manage pudding so we brought it home so we didn’t miss out. .Great place to bring the children too, the new play area in the huge garden overlooking the river is fantastic as is the kids menu. Great homemade nutritious food .Cant wait to come back.

I had a lovely weekend with friends at Pitbladdo Farm. The house was huge and had all mod cons and comforts. The grounds were beautiful. We got the Guardbridge Inn to cook us a meal in Pitbladdo served in a large beautiful dining room. We walked and cycled .Thank you Pitbladdo

We had a brilliant Sunday lunch here with friends. The food was of a high quality with 2 varied menus including more casual / outdoor suited food. Even the children’s food was of the highest quality. Also can rate the service very highly. Outdoor area was great for kids with plenty of room to enjoy. Will be back soon. Although we got a space parking was limited - we got the last space - if you can travel by bus I would.

Thank you, thank you to Guardbridge Inn and the absolutely fantastic dynamic duo of Darren and Claire who made sure our small, family party was fantastic. We booked another of their properties, Pitbladdo House, Cupar, a stunning, seven bedroom period property set in huge gardens, for a small family party. Claire provided us with a fully catered, exquisite three course dinner plus canapés and matched wines (thanks Darren) and then afternoon tea the next day. What a joy. The house is immaculate, the beds heavenly, the gardens are glorious and Guardbridge Inn fed us like Kings.

On recommendation , we called in past for lunch on our way to St Andrews. Eating out during Covid is never easy but we were made to feel safe as soon as we entered the premises and our experience was excellent. Lovely menu and the food as excellent although a bit much for me. Lovely pate starter and then fish and chips washed down with a sparkling water !! Good value too.Well worth a try .

Tenía el domingo asado de ternera pejerrey. . no es mi carne favorita, ¡pero cambió de opinión! Estaba tan tierno que apenas había que cortarlo, las patatas asadas estaban extra crujientes y ligeras y los budines caseros de Yorkshire eran excelentes. La mejor comida que tuve en toda la semana seguida de un bollo caliente con mermelada. ¡Definitivamente tienes que venir aquí si estás cerca y el personal del bar fue encantador!

Tuve el asado del domingo, 2 grandes rebanadas de solomillo rosado, pudín de Yorkshire, asados, guisantes y brócoli, ¡estaba delicioso! No me puedo quejar en absoluto, la carne era simplemente increíble. Seguido por el merengue con fresas y crema, esta es la mejor comida que he tenido en la calle Andrew's esta semana y la mejor comida que he tenido en meses. La hamburguesa italiana y la hamburguesa de pollo también recibieron el visto bueno. Excelente ubicación y personal del bar / camareros muy acogedores. 4 comidas x 2 platos con 3 cervezas, 2 ginebras y 2 refrescos alrededor de 90, vale cada centavo.

Primera vez en años desde que comimos aquí y no nos decepcionó. Mi compañero tenía el eglefino rebozado con cerveza, nunca escuché que la masa crujiera cada bocado. ¡Estaba delicioso! Estábamos destinados a tomar fotos, pero lo olvidamos ya que solo queríamos sumergirnos y comer. Los postres fueron la guinda del pastel. Estamos planeando volver en unas semanas para mi cumpleaños. El restaurante se adhirió al distanciamiento social y era encantador y seguro. El personal trabajó duro para hacernos sentir bienvenidos. Fantástica experiencia en general. ¡Brillante!

Elegí reservar una mesa aquí para el cumpleaños de mi madre. ¡Estaba tan contento de eso! La comida era de un alto nivel y tamaño de las porciones decente. Tenía chili nachos para compartir para nosotros tres y curry verde tailandés como plato principal. El personal era encantador y el lugar estaba hermosamente decorado. Volveremos al 100% muy pronto.

Trying different places to eat in the area found this wee Gem great place for food and drink indoors or down by the river outside, friendly staff great food well worh a visit.

Primero la situación de seguridad, se pidieron detalles, se monitorearon baños y mucho distanciamiento social. Manejo eficiente y sensato sin problemas, incluso bajo la extrema presión de que se le caigan los pies. ! ¡Algunos lugares deberían mirar aquí sobre cómo hacerlo!Bueno, una delicia de nuevo, está bien, el menú completo aún no está disponible, pero puedes estar seguro de que lo ampliarán cuando puedan. La comida llegó en una bolsa de papel y todos los recipientes reciclables, buena comida, servicio eficiente, hogareño y simplemente hizo una tarde maravillosa y relajante.¡No puedo esperar a que regrese!

El ambiente es bueno, el personal es servicial, amable y eficiente. La comida es buena, nunca he tenido una mala comida aquí y las pociones son grandes. Si estás haciendo 3/2 cursos, ¡necesitarás un descanso entre los cursos! Precio razonable y vale la pena cada centavo. Tanto si eres local como visitante, vale la pena detenerse, especialmente si te gusta la feria escocesa adecuada, ¿qué más puedo decir?

Great place for plain, tasty food. The fish was huge and really lovely, flaky with crisp batter, minted mushy peas and chips in their skin Good price and friendly staff though lacking in atmosphere as we were the only folk there at 7pm

We checked the reviews on trip advisor before deciding to eat here. As usual they were mixed reviews but we decided to give it a go.The Inn is dated, small and showing its age.At first we sat down beside the window to have a view but quickly moved away to avoid the smell coming from the gents toilet right next to our table.My husband chose steak pie which she was quite happy with. I chose sea bass, as it’s my favourite fish. When my dish arrived there was an already squeezed out quarter of lemon sitting on top of the fish which was swimming in an oily sauce and covered in black particles.When I asked the waitress what this was, was, she told me it was leek ash, which I have never heard of . Not wanting to appear ignorant and not particularly wanting to eat any ash I just pushed it to one side and ate the seabass as best I could without consuming any of this black product.By looking at the photograph below I’ll leave it to you to judge whether this was an appealing plate of food.Suffice to say we will probably not be going back.

Staff are nice and very friends and welcoming. Prices are okay, however limited options of beers and unsatisfactory way of serving Guinness. The service, menu and drinks can be better. But recommended if you are looking for a place to have a nice chat and memory.

I have eaten at the Guardbridge many times in the past and the new operators have gotten it just right. Service is great and the food an excellent value. I recommend the seared duck breast. Keep up the good work

After reading reviews looking for a place to go for Sunday Lunch on our holidays we decided to book a table here. The food was delicious, not huge portions but adequate and well cooked. We would definitely visit again. Note: if visiting specifically for Sunday roast we would recommend booking and asking for the roast when booking as they seemed to sell out quite quickly.

We found this fantastic pub on our walk from St. Andrews to leuchars. A lovely warm welcome and great service. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. A great find.

The Sunday lunch here is crafted to perfection, and thankfully you are only given one meat choice for the roast - that way you’re focused; and they can deliver the perfect meal.

We called here on a weds lunchtime on the way to our holiday house in Cupar. We had fish and chips and enjoyed them very much - the fish was huge and the chips very good. Three days later we called in again on our way back from St Andrew’s . Along with fish we also tried salmon, burgers and enchiladas . Everyone enjoyed their food, the service was very good and the inn has a lovely atmosphere.

Our first visit for lunch after Guardbridge Inn was recommended to us. It did not disappoint. Lovely lunch in quaint surroundings. Very good standard of food at a reasonable price. Nice friendly and professional staff. Good size free car park close by for customers.

Coliflor de tempura al curry para mí y espárragos con huevo escalfado para mi pareja - muy buenos entrantes. Los platos principales no me decepcionó. Cordero Koftas para mí, servido con cuscús mezclado con cebollas, pepino, tomates secos, aceitunas, granada y un queso feta generalmente cremoso, fue absolutamente delicioso. Socio tenía un enorme eglefino y chips, que era muy bueno. El servicio fue atento. Bill fue muy razonable dada la gran calificación. Volveremos

Came here on first night of our holiday nearby. We had a warm greeting from the lady who was running the bar & food service. The place was pretty quiet but it was a Monday night. There was a roaring fire going in the restaurant which was appreciated!

Have driven past the Inn on many occasions but this time decided to stop. This mainly due to the reviews. Midweek somplace was quiet. Chose to eat in the bar. Service couldn’t be faulted however the table was dirty as was the cutlery - this off putting. As other reviewers have stated the gents toilet is accessed through the bar, guess it has to be somewhere and fortunately we’d taken a table away from the gents.

Went for lunch with partner, grandson and his mother- this is a very clean and tidy place. The menu wasn’t too crowded so chose the quiche for all three adults and chicken gougons for the grandson. Absolutely excellent food which we all enjoyed immensely- the quiche tasted homemade with light pastry and a exceptionally tasty filling with a good side salad and perfectly cooked new potatoes with mint. The chicken gougons were in batter but cooked properly and retained their moistness. A plate of chips that used fresh potatoes and not those precooked ones were well appreciated. Dessert choice was a touch limited but the quality was excellent. I had coffee which finished my meal very nicely and was again of a high standard. The service was great and attentive without being overwhelming.Overall a great place for lunch dinner menu looked good too . Would highly recommend this place to eat.

Had a Saturday evening off for a change and decided to go to this lovely establishment for a meal. It was fantastic right from the very warm welcome to the fantastically presented delicious meal. Highly recommend and it won’t be long before we return.

Stopped here on the way from St Andrews to Edinburgh and having last visited about 25 years ago were really impressed by the service and what was served up for Sunday dinner.
