G's Fish & Chips in Glasgow City

Really happy with the majority of the order…it all arrived hot and crispy. Only downside was the onion rings were a bit soft.

Food was lovely - will order again

The fish was of very high quality. Unfortunately, having ordered and paid for a 500ml bottle of Diet Coke, it was a (less expensive) 330ml can that was delivered. In addition, chips were also delivered, despite not having been ordered. To summarise - the quality was excellent, the delivery was very slightly late, and I think there should be checking of each order for accuracy before it is dispatched.

I just left another review but forget to mention that one of the main reasons I love this chippy is because they give a decent sized portion of sauce. I’ve had takeaways who send wee tiny tiny portions of curry and I hate it but this chippy at least gives you a good portion! For me the curry sauce is my fave part of a meal so was happy to find a chippy who didn’t send a sauce the size of a 50p coin lol. Love this chippy.

This is my favorite chippy!! The service is amazing, the food is always delicious and the instructions are always followed. Customer service is 13/10 and fantastic. Kindest people ever 💕 never had an incorrect order, never had anything missing either. I order quite a few deliveries cause I hate cooking but this is my favorite takeaway that I get.

Food was lovely really worth the money

Food wasn’t good, was cold due to late delivery and charged £1.50 for 3 small silverside onions instead of normal chippy pickled onions.

Couple of issues, they don’t have any food ready and cook to order. Some people may like this but I imagine most use a chip shop for convenience and expect some food to be good to go straight away. We waited a good 10-15 minutes for a portion of chips. Some communication about this would have been nice. Secondly, the guy serving us just doesn’t listen, or retain information. He forgot to include the sauce we paid for and if I hadn’t mentioned it to my partner, he would have forgotten the pickles. That brings to me to the third issue. The pickles. They charged £1.50 for 3 pickles that you can get a full jar of from the supermarket. These were not ‘chippy’ pickles (see image). Overall a very poor chippy. Avoid.

Lovely piece of haddock and great chips. Smoked sausage is of very good quality, might have been a bit overcooked for some. Not the cheapest we've had, but the on-line ordering from the website works really well. Nice friendly staff serving too.

Food was freezing and soggy also tastes like they bathed it first in vinegar! Was disgusting also wanted a can of coke and fanta and got hit with two tangos haha, food was about a hour late just constantly kept putting the delivery time up and up! Dont order from here

I was not given the drink I ordered, on the menu it says Coca Cola , that’s what I ordered and I was given BARR cola and I dislike that drink. I don’t drink it. If you don’t have Coca Cola, it should be taken off the menu. Thanks

Had a fish supper meal with mushy peas. Both the fish and chips had a nice taste. Reasonably priced. There are bar stools for eating inside.

Utter scam artists! They offer what they call a 'large supreme haddock', but it is nothing more than their regular fish just elongated to give the illusion that you're getting a larger fish. Really you are just getting the same regular fish, but paying an EXTRA £3.50 to be scammed. You'd think this would've been outlawed by now. I questioned the guy behind the counter and he basically shrugged his shoulders and said what can he do about it. Of cousre by then he had already taken my money by card. Avoid!

Chips & fish both totally overcooked. Chips were cold & hard & no salt & vinegar on them. Oil used tasted rancid & the fish was so salty that it tasted as if it had been soaked in brine. Whole meal was inedible & went straight in the bin.

Fish and chips was excellent however the guy who answered my call had no enthuisiam at all, was so off putting for me no please or thank you, same when i went in the shop the guy was not even talkitive. Im sure saying please or thank you would be the first priority for customer service The foods really good but if u sort the guy at the till then your business will increase massivly

Waited almost two hours for delivery. Not sure if food had been cooked and left sitting for ages but by the time it was delivered it was inedible and out straight in the bin.

Food probably would have been better if it was delivered quicker.. wasn't very hot and batter had gone soggy by the time it got to me.. just eat drivers messed me about, took 2 hours to show up

This place used to be the best for fish but i stopped buying from them over a year ago due to being sent cheaper fillets than i ordered. I thought i'd try them again. I paid for a large side fillet of haddock & what i received was 2 tiny angel cut fillets that were really poor quality. The batter was soggy as put in plastic container rather than cardboard/paper. The containers are not recyclable in Glasgow. The fish was so salty it was totally inedible & the whole lot was binned. So sad as they used to be by far trhe best place in Glasgow.

Guy behind counter doesn't know what he's doing told him my order about 5 times, he even had a power nap while the other guy cooked my food. Counter guy using his hands to serve the food touching everything with no gloves after touching his nose. The cook was too busy chatting to his other customer or pal that he over cooked all my food. When getting the order the counter guy forgot half my order after waking up from his power nap, again having to repeatedly check my order. Payed extra for the supposedly large premium fish and there was nothing large or premium about it. Batter was thick and overdone. Chips were brown all overdone. Asked for lots of salt n vinegar n there was hardly anything on them. Definitely wouldn't recommend n definitely won't be coming back. Waste of time and money.

Tiny, tiny portions. Literally 30 chips (I counted!). Steak pie arrived crushed into a container far too small for it. Won't order delivery again Im afraid.

Hi I am absaloutley appalled with my order my order was over an hour late waiting on getting a driver and also from receiving it and then when I recieved it my whole order is freezing cold called the restaurant and they are a joke also they said it was made up when I placed the order now going by that that was 2 hours later from placing the order they made it till I recieved it I would like a full refund please as this is a disgrace

Got hopelessly lost in Glasgow and were cold and hungry. Spotted the sign and thought we'd give it a go. Boy am I glad we did. Went for the £9.95 special....battered haddock chips a Mortons roll plus a drink. Stone cold bargain. The food was cooked to order and took a while but the shop was busy plus they were dealing with the Justeat orders too. Very generous portion piping hot and everything was just gorgeous. Owner and I'm assuming his son were extremely polite and apologised for the delays. Only minor gripes were that we had to remind them about the rolls and drinks and my batter erred towards overcooked but still thoroughly enjoyed the food. The haddock was fresh tasted delicious and proper chippy chips. Other customers had the masala haddock which I would love to try in future. The owner is so polite patient and his sons a credit to him. Great value for money and we made chip butties with the roll. Stuff pretentious food....this is real fill your boots grub.

I used to love this place, but today was an absolute joke! The food arrived freezing, took over an hour to get here, Everytime we called the restaurant the ONLY person in the shop couldn't understand what we were saying and would then just hang the phone up on us! NOT HAPPY!

Delivered the wrong food, left in a hurry and there was no receipt with the order.

Portion sizes were a bit rubbish. Large chips looks like a small and there was very little curry sauce.

the smoked sausage was just breakfast link sausages, bit of false advertising every other chippy in Scotland smoked sausage is deep fried Matheson's, not sure why its just breakfast links here, chips nice, battered sausages were huge, but batter veyr rubbery and it peeled off in 1 big chunk, best bit was the masala fritters which were very good

Visiting Glasgow from the US. Walked past this place, near our BNB but not really near much. Absolutely the best food experience we have had here---and it was takeaway. (And we've been to 14 places so far..). Owner was cheery and a great ambassador for the city and food was great!

Fish was quality. Proper flaky haddock and a good size. Tasted delicious. Chips were good but could do with a little bit more. Service on the other hand was slow that's coz they make the fish fresh at time of order however on some occasions when I've ordered on the phone and arrived to pick up they haven’t even started cooking it! Making it fresh is a strong selling point however they should have a couple already made as not everyone can wait. Was once told he was changing the oil but why then tell me to come in 15 mins. Anyway gave the food 5 stars as the fish is one of the best I've had in Glasgow. I haven't though tried any other of their products apart from the fish.

What a joke of a shop sitting waiting for over an hour! Food said delivered called up they said on the way still never got it! Called up again the man was no use at all! Never again

Hi - I ordered the Scampi and Chips from here. When it got here I was very happy with the quality of the cooking of the chips (nice colour and very good texture) and the ‘Scampi’ was very well cooked ( however, I am not sure that they were Whole-tail Scampi ) . So, while it was cooked very well, I don’t think that it was proper whole-tailed Scampi, but if I was wrong, then I would apologise.

Food tonight is want so good - everything was quite soggy

Fish isn't like it used to be ,on this occasion it was greyish and flat , Haddock or Cod is chunky ,this was like cheap white fish , the Peri burger was 3 strips in a bun ,wasn't expecting that . Didn't follow instructions for brown sauce or seasoning on fish supper When you want a fish supper it has to be right , kids poppers had 4 poppers , ordered before and we've had way more in them . Anyways still appreciate the effort and time but as a customer we want what's paid for .Thanks

I have always enjoyed the food here - we regularly get the haddock supper - it's fresh and tasty and the chips are always good! Haven't ever had bad service here.

Amazing meal best fish and chips ever tasted. In the area for a day only needed food and this was one of the only chippys open but 10/10 highly recommended.

I normally love ordering from here but was delivered in a paper bag and food fell out when driver went to lift it.

All the chips and curry sauce boxes where all upside down and leaked all over the rest of the food and one box had completely had come out of the box

Received burger buns in my order instead of rolls and though surprised, it turned out to be great with the added butter I had requested. Will likely request this in future as I think it may be my preference going forward. Food was great as always folks. Thank You.
