Grovehill Fisheries (Stuart's of Driffield) in East Riding of Yorkshire

Visited this fish and chips shop about half an hour ago , bought large sausage ,chips and gravy in a box. The lady did not put greaseproof paper in the box and as result of that the gravy was spilling out the box from every corner . I took the box back into the shop and asked for my money back because the quality was service was shocking. To top it all, this item cost £6.80 which i find it a very high price. I was in hornsea yesterday and got the same, for £5,20 and i had greaseproof paper in the box and the gravy did not spil out the box. So i find this highly unacceptable to pay £6.80 for the same thing and shocking quality. Who is going to pay to clean my shoes now? I will not use this shop again. Since stuart of Driffield took this shop over the prices have increased dramatically and the quality has gone down ,to the previous owner who had the shop over 20 years. If the food wasnt pourring out the box which was making it awkard to eat i would have accept it that i just have been riped off. But to have my clothes stained and my car seat stained it is unacceptable. I will avoid this shop in future.

Would be great if you actually put the prices like a normal menu online.sat for 20 minutes looking for a priced menu.

Very expensive for chips. Priced at 3 pound which is much more than my local area of Kirk Ella and Anlaby. No beefburgers too which was always my favourite.

Four customer's in the shop I only popped in for a chip butty it took 20 mins to get served,if they only have one member of staff serving and accepting telephone orders then sorry that's not going to work! Pitty as when it was Sea Fresh it was the best chip shop in Beverley,sadly won't ever be going back.

The food was not nice what I really wanted to.order they just put me of telling me a fish fritter would take 30 mins to cook I know it doesn't take that long I am a diabetic and needed to eat so got battered sausage and chips the sausage was so dry over cooked I couldn't eat it was a waste of money won't be using again .normally use stuats on norwood never have a problem thier and the fryer is more polite and would always fry a fish fritter with no problem and doesn't take 30 mins

Really nice fish and chips. Good portion size. Haddock was cooked really well. Was £11 something for Haddock, chips, Mushy peas and a can of coke.

I have started travelling out from my area simply to have good quality fish and chips. Much better than any of our locals. Chips are lovely, fish very flavoursome and peas great too. Would definitely recommend stuarts group fisheries!!

Food was nice but the wait was too long even taking into account that it was a Friday. They had got themselves muddled. Food for five of us was good.

Just paid over £12 for fish and chips, Pattie and sausage. Chips were dry. Fish was re cooked from previous day, Pattie was so hard and dry I couldn’t even bite it. Sausage was bit bad. Worst take away I have ever had. Absolutely do not recommend

Good fish fryer, cook to order. Would recommend, last went there 17/3/23, good fish and a good battered burger plus the extras.

This fish shop went down hill rapidly when it was taken over by Stuart's of Driffield. The food looks as though it has been thrown into the wrapping and on unwrapping the batter comes away with the paper which is soaked in grease. Very disappointing as this used to be the best fish and chip shop in Beverley.

When this was Grovehill Fisheries, it was the best chippy in Beverley. Not any more. This was without doubt the worst chippy tea I have ever had the misfortune to unwrap. The chips were cold, under-cooked and covered in black bits and the fish fritter was burnt and falling to pieces. The gravy was lumpy and the peas were mostly green-coloured water. Truly awful. Don't waste your money on this over-priced rubbish. Avoid.

This chippy used to be fantastic, and I had been occasionally using it for many years. However, just been and found it has been taken over by Stuart's of Driffield. Sadly, they have not kept the same standards - which is such a shame. When I visited (December, 2022) it was quite, and I only had a small order for two - yet they got it wrong. Gravy instead of curry, and three other mistakes! Such a disappointment. I wont't be going there again, until they are run by a proper company / owner. I will also be warning others to avoid.

Grovehill fisheries not upto its usual standards. The fish was small and tasteless, the batter was soggy and the chips were anaemic I'm sorry to say. I do hope it was just a glitch.

Staff and food are excellent here. Some of the clientele are not, lovely fish and chips will be calling again next time I'm around.

Just been to grovehill for our tea and when I unwrapped the parcel the fish was in bits looked like it had been thrown around first, absolutely disgusting

Grovehill fisheries not a patch on the Mill Lane chippy. Service slow and poor. Not even my order when got home and unwrapped! Someone is going to be disappointed! Very under cooked had to finish off cooking at home. Won't be coming here again....terrible

on saturday 3rd June I paid £7:50 for fish and chips. The fish was tiny and dry. How dare you charge this amount for such a disgusting peice of fish? Such a shame that Stuarts of Driffield have so little regard for their customers, I will never go there again.

Got a large fish and chips and there was nothing 'large' about it, also the gravy was really thin and bland. Sadly won't be going back again.

I was visiting a friend just down the road from this fish shop. I didn’t actually use it, I was just in the area. There was a queue coming out of the door & the was a great smell coming from inside! 😋

Unfortunately, on this occasion, both the fish and chips were overcooked. We have been here before and it was good, but disappointing on this occasion. The fish itself was very nice, but just overcooked.

Lovely fish and chips only downfall not drained enough as freshly cooked but does leave them more greasy than I like ..saying that the fish is always cooked fresh and well ..which is the compromise

Wow !! Beautiful as usual fish and chips to die for, always get a big order for everyone at work we always pre order over then phone and it’s always ready on time ,really efficient service . All COVID rules followed really well.

Nice fish, batter slightly over done for my liking. lady serving seemed a bit stressed, waiting time not too bad under current circumstances.

Was the best in town now the worse cold chips, wasnt offered salt and vinegar as that was taken away from the counter. Fish was over cooked. Stuart's have 4 fish and chips shops in beverley now there is hardly any choice. The short blonde haired worker seemed to be moody as there was a que near closing time. Wont be using again. No wonder this place has a low rating avoid at all cost

This was the best chippy in town. Recently taken over by Stuart's and now the worst chippy. Chips were hard and under cooked and the fish had fallen to pieces. The whole thing was very greasy. Very disappointing and a waste of money. I will not be returning.

Love everything from grove hill but my favourite is a spam fritter buttie with curry sauce it's to die for just got 2 tonight and just about to eat them both best everytime can't be beaten good food at a good price always,this fish shop has just changed ownership sad to see them go But on the upside the new owners are well known and there food is just as good if not better definitely worth calling for food any day of the week I will update on how good there spam fritters are as that's the deal breaker for me

Value for money and really good quality fish

I have visited a few times and this was my last time after spending £6 on medium fish and chips, the fish was not cooked to order and was already cooked and tasted quite dry so it must of been standing there for sometime the large portion of chips was mostly scraps of chips and service was really slow. I think because there is no nearby competition for fish and chips they are not bothered about the customer reviews
