We were greeted with a smile and sat rather quickly within minutes are order was taken for our drinks and shortly after our food I had the sausage in mash and my partner had a burger and upgraded her fries to sweet potato fries which you really enjoyed Michelle was our server, I tried to hawkstone lager for the first time it's really nice we will be back again really enjoyed our food and the service was great

Came with my girlfriend and my family. Had the festive menu, the starters, mains and desserts were all great quality and well presented. The Christmas pudding was really tasty and the drinks we had paired well with our meals. The mulled wine was a nice addition to the festive period as well. Would definitely recommend coming during the Christmas period or you will miss out!

Visited this evening and they quickly sat us down despite having not made a reservation. The staff were lovely and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The Christmas decorations made it feel exceptionally cosy, especially as we were sat next to the open fire The sea bass and chic pea curry were delicious and the cocktails perfectly made. Will happily visit again! Thanks!

The service was exceptional Michelle our server took our order swiftly and it didn't take long to come out either my sirloin steak was delicious and succulent my father enjoyed the ribeye which he also enjoyed we then had coffees as we were so full we couldn't manage a dessert unfortunately as we had decided or not putting people were gonna have. We will be back in January to use our £10 voucher

We have just spent 2 nights at the grouse and claret. From when we arrived until we left we had excellent service, all tge staff we spoke to were really helpful and friendly, especially Tom at breakfast. Our room was lovely, clean and warm. We had 2 meals during our stay which were tasty and well cooked, and the breakfasts were really nice and very filling. Tea or coffee were provided within the price of the breakfast, you just had to pay if you wanted speciality tea or coffee. We will definitely stay here again.

Poor value for money ! Lunch menu 2 courses for £15-50 more like a snack. Very small portions and nothing special. Would not recommend if you are hungry !

My wife and I had dinner here this weekend. Despite the negative reviews others have posted, we found the Grouse And Claret a lovely place. The food was nicely cooked and the staff were attentive and friendly. Whilst there was a slight wait for drinks, it wasn't excessive, and partly due to changing a barrel. I would be happy to recommend this place.

We popped in with no reservation this afternoon for a late lunch/early dinner. We were given a selection of menu choices. I had a bargain 2 course meal and my husband had 2 great starters. The food was faultless and great value for money and best of all was the great service from our waitress Michelle who went above and beyond to accommodate our needs.

On a wet and dismal day we came across this place. Great welcome on arrival. Good value 2 or 3 course lunch Nice food and served quickly. Would like to go back but we were on a short visit to the area

A wet and dreary day was made all the better for a visit to the G&C today. We were met with a smile at the door and opted for self serve in the bar area. Tom, behind the bar, cheerily took our order and the food arrived promptly. I had the Burger and my wife had the chicken and chorizo kebab. Both were really tasty and they were washed down with a nice pint and a glass of wine respectively. Thank you and we will be back soon.

I was greeted well and offered a table as a late walk in which was much appreciated. Food was great and staff very polite and made me feel at ease as a solo diner.

This is a well-situated pub in the Peak District. The accommodation was spacious, the bed very comfortable, the bathroom very satisfactory. Lots of places needed a lick of paint but nothing which would spoil you visit. The bar and dining room are lovely. The service for dinner was slow although Tom did a great job for breakfast. The serving staff were friendly and helpful but seemed very under-staffed. The food was mediocre. The black pudding for my breakfast lived up to its name, in fact it looked as though it has actually been on fire and was so solid you could crack it! My wife's omelette was very soggy in the middle. The pie I had for dinner wasn't bad but it contained lots of gravy and very small pieces of meat, a bit like a supermarket pie but at a premium price. The general standard of cooking was at best average and sometimes poor.

I’ve always drove past but never had the chance to go in but last weekend I did and it is beautiful such stunning food me and my partner had a great time

Our visit was a complete disaster. We arrived at 4:40 for a table booked at 5:00pm. My son had just completed the Trek26 charity walk for Alzheimer’s UK and the evening was meant to be a celebration of his achievement. We ordered our food on the app by 4:50 under two separate orders. By 5:50 no food had arrived and I went to query it at the bar. I was told there was a 45 minute wait for food, so I pointed out that we had ordered on the app and had not been told this and that it was now more than 45 minutes since we ordered. Then I was told my order had not “appeared on the screen” and was asked to show my receipt as proof that I had ordered. My son’s order had “appeared on the screen” but had not arrived, so a computer glitch did not apply to him. His food appeared just after 6:00 pm by which time my grandchildren were climbing the walls with hunger. My food came at 6:15 just under 90 minutes from ordering. The waiter said “try and enjoy” when he put the food down. No one came to apologise, to check everything was ok or to offer us some recompense by way of an apology. We ordered our desserts at the bar and queried how long they would be. We were told 10-15 minutes and they took 30 minutes. Staff were unhelpful, unapologetic and frankly rude. We shall not be returning. Please sort out your online ordering system. The restaurant was not busy and communication from your staff couldn’t have been worse.

We were regular customers (once a week) over the last year. Due to circumstances we would never know until short notice and would call for food which ever early evening time we was passing. We have now been turned away for a third time, as they only had two chefs in and we hadn’t booked and they were busy. (about 15-20% full). I think they should remove the “welcome” sign from outside, We will be looking for an alternative venue from now on.

We were asked how many adults and children when we walked in (we had pre booked) and were given the children's menus (our children were 13,12 and 11) they ordered the chicken tenders off the menu and got 2 very, very small pieces of chicken and a few fries when we questioned was that it - the guy said the children's menu is for for only up to 5year olds - he clearly saw the family group as showed us to our table and there was no mention of ages on the kids menu. So very disappointed with their meals. My fishcake starter was over cooked and hard to cut through plus lukewarm. The pie and lasagne looked great and plenty of it , the bacon and cheese burgers were quite small and the bread was too toasted. Michelle who served us was absolutely great, very attentive and helpful. Overall it was OK but did feel cheated with the children's food and it should be stressed about ages if this is correct or mention the portion is very small.

The restaurant is really lovely very warm and welcoming. We stayed at their own campsite which is small, perfect for us and the bathrooms are spotless. Only one thing which could be better was the barrier situation. Every time you wanted to enter or leave a member of staff had to come out and lift the barrier. Maybe a visitor code would be more efficient ! This is in use on many other sites and works perfectly fine. Must be frustrating for staff to come out in the rain each time.

Typical chain pub fare - mediocre. Pity because the ambience was good. All four of us were in agreement and we each had a different meal.

A cozy place to eat with the family. We were served by Chloe that seemed to go above and beyond to make sure our visit was unforgettable. The food selection was plentiful and the meal I had (the mixed grill) was exquisite. Already eager to return.

We celebrated our daughter’s 21st birthday and it was fantastic! The food was delicious and the environment is warm, friendly and full of cheerfulness. Our needs were taken care of from the minute we booked right through to the day after! Our daughter and friends stayed in the hotel and they said it was perfect, we joined them for breakfast the next morning and Tom explained everything to us and made sure we were happy with our food etc Special thanks to James, Julie, Michelle and the rest of the team for making our daughters 21st fabulous…Especially joining in with the birthday song! . Very relaxed and comfortable place for lunch. The fish and chips were magnificent with wonderful golden crunchy batter. We stopped for a leisurely drink and a chat and were made very welcome.

Annual wedding anniversary trip - a great location, and clearly, there's been major investment on the interior. It's a shame the same investment hasn't been made to the caravan site, which is scruffy, a little dirty, and in real need of refurbishment. In general terms the staff were great apart from the girl that checked us in - I requested a pitch closer to the shower block, only to be told that the site was fully booked - the site clearly wasn't fully booked all weekend, and our request could easily have been granted - poor and unacomodating customer service skills. A real shame as our stay was otherwise brilliant, having great walks to Chatsworth and Bakewell, and having a pub/restaurant on site is great.

We have recently visited this lovely establishment, it is absolutely wonderful. Lovely place, ideally situated for visiting Chatsworth and the Peak District. Our bedroom was clean, comfortable and warm and had a spacious en suite bathroom. Lovely meal but please train your staff not to clear the table unless everyone has finished eating.
