Last time I visited I complained that tables were not being cleared and customers had to sit at dirty tables and there has been change. Thank you to ground coffee for listening if they actually did. The only thing that is making me not give 5 out of 5 is that price is a little high.

Went to Ground in Portrush today with a group of friends for coffee and cake and the number of mistakes for such simple orders was shocking. Our friends ordered a can of lemonade and were given and charged for a much more expensive iced lemonade drink. When they pointed out the mistake they were given the can instead but no refund of the difference in price of almost £2 was offered until we went up to the till and pointed it out a second time. When we sat down I realised that we have been overcharged, paying £13 for two coffees and two pieces of cake when it should’ve cost less than £10. I asked about this when we were leaving and was told that we had been charged for the expensive lemonade that our friends had ordered. Our friends were also charged for the lemonade yet the staff were adamant we had only been charged once. As we were not offered receipts there was no way we could verify this. Our actual food was also very disappointing, my friend ordered a flat white with soy milk which was off and undrinkable. I ordered a piece of lemon cake and was given a piece already on a plate which was clearly left over from the previous day and very stale, I asked for it to be changed to a fresh piece which they did. Overall it was a very disappointing experience with poor quality food and poor service. I was especially unhappy with being charged twice for a drink which we hadn’t even ordered in the first place! No apologies from staff for any of the mistakes, definitely will not be returning anytime soon.

Christo gave me a brilliant haircut and beard trim in Nico's Turkish Barbers when I was in Portrush on a winter break at the weekend. I had an hour to spare, so It was the full deal -- open-razor shave, scented hot towels, head massage and finished off with the best shoulder rub I've ever had (well, from a man anyway!). What I needed was a good cup of coffee to round it all off, and the vote of staff and customers present led me to Ground Espresso Bar just a short walk away on Main St. I LOVE these locally owned and operated cafe´s which are now all over Northern Ireland, I am a frequent client of the Bangor West location. I am delighted to report that their freshly brewed Americano and Cinnamon scone were the best quality, served with cheerfulness by a local lass who marked my card for things to do in 'The Port' on a blustery day in the middle of winter.

All of the staff are so pleasant, there is a great range of food and drinks but oh my goodness they need to learn how to clear tables. Me and my mum were in the cafe for about 30 minutes and out of the downstairs tables (considering only downstairs was open at the time) only around 3 tables were free not because there was lots of people but there was mugs and rubbish pulling up on the tables. A woman actually had to sit at a table that had not been cleared. I say this with a heavy heart, as the staff are very nice, but I think this cafe needs to get their staff to stop gossiping and clear the tables!

I'm not sure why there isn't a place to get breakfast before 9am in this town, but I wasn't there long enough to learn the local customs. We heard Portrush was a sweet town, so drove from Derry in search of breakfast on our way to Bushmills and the Giant's Causeway. At 8:50, we pulled up and tried to go in. We were waved off and told to come back in 10 minutes. I don't exactly understand that company policy when there is a perfectly good alternative a few doors down and across the road at Bob and Bert's. And that is where we went. Bye bye Ground Espresso. You could have poured us a cup while you finished firing up the grill. Looking for breakfast in Portrush? It is 9am sharp, folks!

We visited this coffee shop today as we are on holiday for a few days and had promised our son we would treat him to one of their freak shakes. I asked the guy behind the counter if there was any nuts in it as my son has a nut allergy and he advised there was no nuts in it, I was carrying it upstairs the guy came behind us and said he had just remembered that there was nuts in the chocolate sauce, he took it away and made us another one with no fuss and I noticed on the new one that they had definitely put extra chocolate on the side! My son thoroughly enjoyed it. We had coffee and a salted caramel brownie which was scrumptious. Overall I would definitely recommend this coffee shop and the staff are fantastic.

My wife and I popped in today 19/07/16 to Ground Portrush and an experience we would think twice about repeating!!With all due respect and I am not being "ageist" in reverse but the staff all looked very young and inexperienced!!Also to be perfectly honest the Staff wore a variety of uniforms and you couldn't tell the difference between staff and customers. To begin with when choosing an item from the counter there are no tongs to lift it with......my choice was chocolate covered Mallows and my wife's was Chocolate squares which were actually sitting out in the open on a very warm day??.The server was pleasant enough but I noticed when he lifted out the saucers for our coffee cups he seemed to be hunting about to find clean ones!!When I went to choose the cutlery the first large spoon I picked out was covered in Chocolate and when I handed it to the young chap behind the counter he apologised and said the guy washing dishes had only being working there a couple of days!!!!We went upstairs and the room was fairly empty but overall the decor was dingy and characterless and didn't look overly clean. We regularly use the Ground Coffee shop at Sprucefield and were very disappointed in the Portrush version......to be honest I don't think I would care to repeat the experience of Portrush at all!!

On a lovely bright crisp & Sunny February Sunday afternoon, my wife & I joined another couple on the train from ANTRIM to PORTRUSH immediately after early Church Service. It was our intention from the outset to visit 'Ground' for a light lunch, which we did. The place was rather busier than expected when we arrived & it was obvious that we were not the only ones who decided to 'take the North Coast Sea Air' on this rather rare occasion when our weather is a little more kind than normal!!!Service in Ground was swift & staff were very friendly & accomodating. Unfortunately I was on a rather restricted diet on this occasion!! ( for reasons best known to myself), so it was soup for me followed by a large Americano!! Lovely it was too, my friends, who were not subject to the same restriction indulged in a lot more of the lovely foods rhat are on offer...A pleasant Sunday lunch experience in the 'PORT' !!!

I visited this Ground for a catch up with friends this evening, and was really quite underwhelmed with the quality of the food and the surroundings. The whole ground floor is dark and fairly depressing, and we went upstairs, which was far too hot, even on a dull evening. Add to that very slow service and it's not off to a good start.I ordered the 'best ever Rocky Road' biscuit, and was very disappointed. It certainly wasn't the best I have ever eaten, it was like half broken digestive biscuits layered between very thick chocolate. I think I tasted a small bit of cherry, but certainly no marshmallow. It was too thick, too sweet and too much like hard work to eat. Having been a couple of times previously, and received stale fifteen biscuits, I don't think I will be back here for a while, which is a pity as I have found the standards in other Ground establishments to be of the very best levels.

I'm sad to say that my favourite coffee shop in Portrush is fast losing my custom. On my visit today my coffee was just average but what annoyed me most was the filth of the place. To use a Scottish word. The floor was "mingin" Tables and new bench along window filthy. Whoever designed the new layout needs to look for a new job. Just awful. Electrical work like something you'd see in a garage. Disabled toilet door still not fixed. The job will take 20 mins. Someone take responsibility. Staff need to be educated on how to service tables. They haven't like most places a clue. Selection of food ok. Trouble is everywhere now has ok food. I love Ground - I visit regularly, but this has to be the worst one out of them all (& I have been in them all).It wasn't just them having a 'bad' day either. It's been continually declining to the point that I will not be returning. The counter areas are not attractive. The shop is grubby & tired. The staff....well I don't want to get too personal about individuals but they would benefit from a good manager in all areas. My last visit I saw one girl cleaning a table from previous customers by swiping it with a newspaper that they had been reading - & that was it ready for the next customer. If they do things like this in front of you, I dread to think what they do behind the scenes. The toilets are terrible. The toilet roll was sitting on top of the sanitary bin. No soap & no hot water. Smelly, dull and dirty.I had taken a friend and was embarrassed by the whole experience as it was my shout.I personally do not enjoy writing poor reviews, I take no enjoyment from them, but on this occasion I feel that whoever owns it needs to seriously take a closer day to day look as the competition has caught up & surpassed Portrush Ground.I am a Ground supporter - truly I am. I take my hat off to the owner has sourcing the goods & expanding the shops but for Portrush - it really is not near good enough.Sorry.

After spending a few days in the north coast with regular visits to ground we soon come to realise that the customer service lets this place down terribly. Leaving milk stacked up to self steam, dirty plates and horrendously poured coffee. So sorry to leave this review as have previously been a satisfied customer at Ground, and indeed would still rate other branches highly. Portrush Ground however is not worth a visit. Poor layout means its difficult to tell what's available and with only one queue for takeout and sit in, congestion and a long wait time is inevitable. Is it worth said wait - oh no. Brick like scones and bagels, uncleared tables abound and unhappy looking staff would not encourage me to return or indeed recommend.

I come here all the time and never had a problem the staff are always lovely, until today I was so disappointed by the way a dark blonde waitress spoke to another member of staff, I was appalled!! If this girl is a member of management i.e. supervisor then you really need to sort your chain of command out, at least teach them some manners. I know it was busy but no one needs to be shouted at in front of customers like that. Also when asking about a product it would nice not to be barked at and have it explained properly, by the same girl. I heard her shouting Victoria's name numerous times, the poor girl.. The rest of the queue behind me had the same expression on their faces as I did. Really not fair! :( 23/8/13

Enjoyed our coffee and cake very much. If you are visiting with children there is a very nice area for them to play while you enjoy your coffee

A great variety of cakes and buns, lovely coffee. A play area for toddlers, so at last a coffee in peace. Wi-Fi and lots of seating. Clean and friendly. What more could you ask for?

This Review relates to the Portstewart location only - can’t find a separate listing for it on TA Experience as follows: Entered - smoky/ poor ventilation - coming from kitchen area Noisy - lots of noise (plates etc) from open kitchen area competing with the music and people trying to talk over both Cold (arrived 9:30 am - would have expected to be warmer by then) Expensive - but then most things on North Coast are Scones - limited variety. Not fresh. Covered in a sugar glaze. Excuses - sorry we have run out of jam. Went back to kitchen area to ask if had any marmalade instead? No. ‘But you are serving scones and toast’? Response - It’s very busy this time of year. My response - that’s why you plan for it. It should have been a single star. But it’s Christmas

My favourite dining venue in the area. Can’t recommend the service & quality of this establishment enough. Great food, good portions & friendly staff. My only criticism is that myself & my friends would prefer to dine in the restaurant for its ambience, etc., than in the bistro, but despite requesting this while booking, we frequently are seated in the bistro. While the menu & meals are the same in quality & price, surely if the restaurant is requested, it should be honoured!

We stayed at the Ibis Riverside Coleraine with our Ladies choir from North Devon on Friday the 27th Oct for three nights. The staff were excellent, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble also they were very accommodating when we sang some songs in the bar. The breakfasts and dinner we had at the hotel were excellent as were Danielle and Erin our waitresses. The barman and the two ladies on the reception were also very helpful. Needless to say if we ever needed to stay in Coleraine we would definitely stay at this hotel and recommend to others

We spent one night at the Port Hotel as we were visiting family in the area and heading to the Giant's Causeway. Location is good, not a far drive from the Causeway with decent restaurants nearby. Staff at the front desk and in the restaurant were friendly. The beds unfortunately were very uncomfortable.. lumpy and badly in need of updating. The hotel vibe is cute and quaint, okay for one night, but wouldn't spend a second night.
