Really nice cafe only had coffee and scones but will be back for lunch some time soon. The kids play room was genius as we actually managed to have a relaxing break when the kids enjoyed themselves too.

We stopped on our way through to go camping near Alloa. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal so much so that we made sure that we stopped again on our way home four days later. Only a slight criticism - we found the waitress a bit too enthusiastic, the young man was great. We do hope that the young chef does well. He deserves to.

Wow! Heard a lot of good stuff about newly opened ground bean and bistro and had to see what the fuss was about! I certainly wasn't disappointed. Fresh, locally sourced food on piping hot plates. Something you don't see very often. Young and talented chef Sean Lacon and his dedicated team are doing a grand job. Keep up the good work guys, I will be returning soon!

With great food, excellent service and reasonable prices what more could you want? We were greeted by an extremely friendly, chatty waitress who made us feel welcome and looked after from start to finish. The food is so tasty and very fresh. We visited for lunch but are very much looking forward to returning for both breakfast and dinner. To finish off, we each had a slice of homemade cake, both of which tasted delicious! Hats off to the chef!! I don't usually leave reviews but felt the need to leave one for Ground Bean & Bistro after the exemplary service we received which, combined with the excellent quality of the food, made our experience perfect. I would highly recommend this place to fellow locals of Buchlyvie as well as anyone I know who may be driving through, it is 100% worth stopping for!

I am a local resident and this is my third visit since new owner/lease holders took over. Three of us had breakfast here this morning - perfectly good food and service but the pricing needs looking into. A full breakfast is £6.50, 6 or 7 items and toast. A roll and sausage/black pudding is £5.25. We ordered, but queried the roll and sausage price thinking it was a misprint in the menu. However, apparently not! No top ups of tea or coffee either, full price for everything I'm afraid. Our bill was £26.40 - I think too much for breakfast. I don't want to put the place down as the quality is good but locals will not frequent at these prices. Maybe not interested in locals though?

We were really looking forward to a visit here based on previous reviews. I think they had an off day however. Hardly anyone was in . Some things were already off the limited menu. The real downside was the excruciatingly slow and slightly lacklustre service . Staff seemed unfamiliar with what was on the menu . When the food eventually arrived it was ok but not great . A shame.

This is a little gem of a bistro. My daughter and I met up with a friend for lunch and what a delicious one it was. The steak pie was out of this world. Couldn't fault any part of my visit and was such a lovely touch with the kids play room will definitely be back soon

The new owners of this cafe/restaurant are working hard to make a go of it. We`ve only been in for coffee so far - and can thoroughly recommend it - but next time we`ll try something off their breakfast menu and then, maybe, we`ll do a lunch or dinner. So far, so good.

Went for lunch on Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed it! The food was very tasty and the atmosphere is welcoming! The staff are professional and make the experience enjoyable. I don't usually take my kids out for food as they get restless and impatient but Ground Bean & Bistro have a great solution to this - a kids play area with plenty to keep the little ones occupied! To the person who left the first review, I would seriously doubt whether these comments are true. For a start I don't remember seeing any member of staff with black hair..? Secondly, the chef and owner is well known with a good reputation from The Old Mill (Sean Lacon) and I highly doubt he would send out food that wasn't up to a high standard. It is a known fact that MacMillan left without saying goodbye to his locals which is just plain rude but don't take it out on the new owners, give them a chance! I wish Abi and Sean every success and we will definitely be back..... See you soon.

Visited here over there easter weekend just a short drive from Stirling and glad we did. Very friendly staff with great service and food. Really good stop off point on road to loch lomond serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is a very family friendly place with a kids play room which entertains the kids and alows adults to chill with a bite to eat or coffee and cake. We will definately return.

The garlic bread had a piece of blonde hair, not mention how stale it was ! The portion of the fish which lies on top of the homemade chips was not enough for 2 bites - that was the adult portion! Not to mention there was another piece of hair - black , this time by the chips!! I don't really think this restaurant could survive if it carries on the way it is. Where did MacMillans go?

Very friendly and helpful staff, took plenty of time to explain about all the beers and were offered tasters of any beers we were interested in drinking, there was a great beer selection. Building was clean and tidy, music was excellent. Menus were well displayed.although we didn’t eat the food coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled great.

Great to see this traditional village pub come back to life. Quiz in the bar last night which looked like great fun, often has live music, lovely food at really reasonable prices. Will be going back again.

TLDR: the food wasn't bad, but it certainly didn't live up to the price tag and too many things were predominantly sweet. Stopped in for dinner while on vacation after browsing a couple other nearby spots for food. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either and really didn't live up to the price tag. The haggis bon-bons as a starter were just okay. Not much flavor to them and a pinch of salt would've gone a long way. The menu looked great, and my lady opted to make a meal of a couple appetizers (the shrimp cocktail and the scotch egg), while I ordered the pan-seared duck breast. The shrimp cocktail was not what we expected. The shrimp were the super tiny variety common to freezer bags, not plump and fresh. Honestly it all just tasted like mayonnaise. The scotch egg was another under seasoned item and it was served with a chili sauce that was pretty sweet. If you're familiar with the Panda Express in the US (Chinese fast food), it tasted just like their sauce. It just didn't quite pair well and ate overly sweet. The duck breast, sadly was just not great, primarily due to the cook on the duck itself. It was weird - the skin side needed more time in the pan as the fat has just a wee bit more rendering needed - but the meat of the breast was overcooked. I typically don't mind if my duck is medium, but this was verging on well-done. But it was really the sauce that turned me off, as again it ate really sweet. I understand it was an orange sauce and a little sweetness is fine, but this tasted and had a mouthfeel more like orange syrup than a well-reduced jus with orange, as there was virtually no citrusy aspect that one might find in say a duck a l'orange. I will say that the service staff was very friendly and attentive, and we didn't have to wait long for drinks at any point and the food arrived in good time. But, as with the theme of the meal, my lady ordered a Glenlivet old fashioned - which neither of us were expecting to be sweet, but it very much so ended up almost too sweet to drink. I don't mean to nitpick and we certainly do love our sweets - but not when they're misplaced. So sadly this missed the mark for us, but I'm hoping that we just were in on an off-night. Again, not bad, and I'd still say to pop in - but just wanted to make this review in case it's helpful to anyone.
