Groby Chinese Takeaway in Hinckley and Bosworth

Our first time ordering from here and boy we were not disappointed. Great food, ready when said and very friendly. Would definitely recommend.

I have ordered a few times now and their portions are good and what I had so far is really tasty. (nice different pickle tray as well!), we had a small hiccup on 1 order (probably my fault) but they sorted it out without question so credit to customer service. Good variety of menu, I love that they do Katsu Chicken! Only downside is that the opening times are in consistent, but hopefully that will resolve itself soon :-)

Wow, what an absolute rip off, how can this be allowed Britain?? The biggest rip off I have ever experienced. The food is absolute rubbish and is so over priced. If this business is here in 3 months time I will be amazed..... disgraceful. Go to Markfield folks and get a decent Chinese

Order 2 chilli paneers, paneer tika, garlic nann & chicken 65 £26...the portion size is small. The chicken sauce flavour was nice but the chicken did not taste fresh it was hard and very dry like it had been re heated a few times. The chilli paneer was bland no flavour too many onions and peppers. The nann was fine good size.and fresh. Unfortunately the food was a let down and would not go again.

Food was ok. Food did not taste fresh. The keema nan was like a slice of ham rather than authentic keema mince the rice think is microwave rice. Good for the 50% off but won’t be ordering again. More like ready meal or jar sauces used.

Really great flavoursome food! We had the chicken achari and Dahl makhani, which were both fabulous! Loved the vegetable bhaji as well. Such great value at the moment too. Very pleased to have such a lovely addition to Groby's food choices!!

the food is expensive for a take away £14 for a prawn in teryachi sauce and 4 prawns in it also , the wings were OK and the chicken very sparse,

Nice staff but the food isn’t great Naan tasted of raw garlic, indo noodles were over spicy. Portion size is average.

The foods are mouthwatering. New takeaway with 50% discount!!!! Just awesome.

Disappointing, small portions of mostly onions and sauce rather than the chicken, shrimp or beef we ordered. Also we ordered and paid for fried rice and got plain rice. Polite people but really bad value for money.

Love the food! Whenever I'm around Groby I always have to stop by here. They changed management quite recently and since then, quality has gone right up. You can safely ignore any recent 1 or 2 star reviews!! Absolutely top service, thank you

AVOID - terrible food - rancid meat - just made them come and collect and give a refund - as per other reviewer chow mein tastes as though it had gone off - AVOID - reported to HB Council Food Standards

I would highly recommend this Chinese! It was recently changed ownership, and ever since the food quality has been amazing!

not that great I'm afraid. the egg fried rice was stodgy (seriously, how can you need such a simple thing up), the chicken balls were over done and there was a stingy amount of chicken in the chicken and cashew dish. the aromatic crispy duck was, however, lovely, and the chicken and cashew dish was also tasty. the service was quick and friendly. the new management needs to find some new chefs; their reputation is bad and getting worse it seems.

Love this place, since it has been taken over recently the change is unbelievable! I've never eaten a chinease takeaway that tastes as fresh as this one. Front of house staff are great too! I highly recommend giving it a go and you should 100% try the szechuan chips!!

Under new management and the lovely lady on the desk/owner are fantastic! Food is so good, very lucky to have this on my doorstep! Would give it 6 stars if I could. So fresh and tasty!

After they have changed new management, the food has been absolutely amazing. Definitely will be coming back more often for the **CHILLI CHIPS** as it is their iconic dish.

Absolutely awful the chicken was like rubber couldn’t even chew it had chicken fried rice and chicken chow mein didn’t even taste right so straight in the dustbin should of taken it back but didn’t £14 down the drain..!!!!said on the phone they were new owners it took 10 minutes to work out the price we got to pay so clearly don’t know what they doing ….won’t be visiting again anytime soon….and warn people not too it’s just not nice …!!!!!!!!🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮we didn’t eat any of it as didn’t want to be poorly that’s how bad it looked

It’s recently re opened with new owners and I thought I’d give it a go as I was sure I wouldn’t be as bad as last time how wrong I was. It was garbage I went and got my money back. The ribs…the dog wouldn’t even eat them. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME THEY ARE CLUELESS.

The worst Chinese food I've ever had. Bland and tasteless. The spare ribs were absolutely awful. Singapore fried rice had no flavour and no spice. I rang and complained but they weren't interested, they probably get so many complaints they've given up caring. I wish I'd read the reviews before ordering from them. I only gave 1 star because there's no option to give zero. Do yourselves a favour give this place a miss.

Not been to this once excellent take away for a couple of years. Will never go again. Guy on the phone was rude taking our order , should have known at that point. Told it would be ready in 20 minutes. Arrived at the time advised only to be told it wasn't ready, had to wait a further 20 minutes and wish we hadn't bothered. Egg fried rice was a strange brown colour and lumped together like a brick. No idea how old it was or how many times it had been reheated. House special curry was a gelatinous blob with very little meat in it. Vegetable noodles in oyster sauce was watery and tasteless. Chips looked to be of the frozen variety and were soggy, chewy and cold all at the same time, quite an achievement. Absolutely the worst Chinese takeaway I've ever had. Save your money and go to the co-op round the corner for a ready meal, even a pot noodle would be better than this offering ZERO STARS

Absolutely awful. Had to wait an extra 20 minutes because it wasn't ready on time. Egg fried rice was like a brick , probably several days old. It was also a strange brown colour. Bought egg fried rice was brown looked like it had been reheated had chicken and mushroom far too salty and the chip's were awful the whole lot was 13 pounds threw it away waste of money do not go here .

Wanted a delivered meal but unfortunately no deliveries. Decided to collect but when we got there cards are not accepted. Walked around to eventually find a cash machine to collect an average meal.

Crispy beef very chewy, chips not crispy, lumps of rice in rice, not much flavour in the curry sauce. Chicken and mushrooms tasty though. Disappointed.

red thai curry, must be the worst i,v ever had , watery tasteless stewed chicken and veg with added chilli to give a bit of heat, better to get a couple of supermarket microwave meals.

I used to love this Chinese, that was until ownership changed. Now being ran by one man only. Anyway, I had salt and chilli chicken and chips. I had the worst case of food poisoning in my life. Awful unfortunately.

Nice delicious food! We ordered the Chinese takeaway food for family dinner last night. All dishes we ordered like BBQ Ribs, sweet sour chicken ball, King prawn fire rice is nice delicious. No free prawn crackers now, but as the Chef said everything price is growing up, there is no profit so can’t give it free. Totally understand. So we will keep to order the Chinese food with them.

I think new people must have taken over. Been using this great little village takeaway for years so hopefully just a blip while new fella sorts things out but he better get a move on or he will lose all those loyal locals! Burnt greasy (oil was dripping out) prawn toast, No prawns at all in the rice and the chicken was definetly old, we chose not to eat it. Asked for spicy ribs but they were sweet. Returned the lot and got money back with no argument. No more free prawn crackers either or delivery service now. What a shame!

Main meal only half full asked for egg fried rice i got dry fried rice no egg plus he was on own again its gone to the dogs

I am from Blackpool but every time i visit family i always use this Chinese Take away,my mum lived up the road so it was perfect for me,now sadly she has passed away and i stay with my sister in Desford and although they offer a delivery service i order my food and by the time ive driven to Groby my order is ready,always hot freshly cooked and plenty of it.

It’s ok nothing brilliant staff are nice but the food standards rating not very good so I think being clean is the most important

Have tried several times but food always seems a bit basic and bland. Prefer other takeaways in surrounding area. Also always seems to have a low food hygiene rating. Would not recommend.

Pancack roll cold, chicken balls thick batter and slimy chicken, not even going to open rice as it looks dirty. Will NEVER use again. Wont even give leftovers to dog :(

Ordered standard fare. Oily egg rice, chicken 'cake', fat saturated prawn toast. From order to collection no more than 4 minutes. 2/5 hygiene rating. Previously very good. This time dire. Chewy prawn cracker.

Had a house curry and had no meat in it. Had more bean sprouts and carrots what tasted vile the sauce was really oily and taste like hot dog curry sauce was horrible. Wouldn’t recommend too oily and food hygiene rating is also 2/5 what’s a cause for concern

Have used this takeaway several times over the last year despite it being a half an hour round trip from home . Food quality can vary slightly between average and excellent however yesterday’s was one of the better meal’s

Dispite having a food hygiene score of 2/5! I've eaten there a few times. Last weekend a dish snapped my molar with a STONE it contained. I marched back there and he offered me another unwonderful dragon. Never again would I eat or recommend anyone eating there.

We had about 4 dishes, all were really tasty. Crispy prawns were lovely, duck meat cooked really well. Lots of flavour. The service was super quick also, only 20 mins! Very reasonably priced, would definitely recommend.

Tenía unas malas experiencias aquí ahora, así que no vamos a volver. Pedimos rollitos de primavera y regresar a casa para encontrar rollos pancake que eran realmente grasienta y quemados. Tenía pollo capital que estaba preparado el pollo estaba seco y el bateador fue quemada. La comida fue muy rápido, casi demasiado rápidamente. Nuestra orden se hizo en unos 4 minutos. También no aceptan tarjeta. El hombre es bastante grosero y no decir nada más que el precio. Se encontraron otro chino ahora creo.

The food here is terrible and I have heard a lot of other people say this too! The best Chinese to go to around the area is probably Beaumont Leys, its so nice! However, I wouldn't advise anyone to go here, sorry.

My partner and I went on a late Saturday night for a takeaway. The food was prepared quickly and for a considerable amount less than others. Hot tasty and plentiful. I wish my local Chinese was this good all round.
