Had a lovely lunch here mid-week with a fabulous view over the bay. It’s more expensive than a lot of places, but also serves much better food. We both had beef and stout pie with chips and it was absolutely delicious, full of rich flavours and a good size portion. The tiny side salad was the only minor thing which could have been better. Desserts were amazing too. The staff are very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. I would definitely recommend this place for a treat.

Lovely pub, friendly staff, gorgeous location, but the food was a disappointment. Or rather the descriptions were misleading leading to disappointment! What was described as an octopus starter turned out to be a chunk of pork sitting on top of a few 10p sized slithers of overdone octopus. Different fish were named as the main course choices with no special mention of sauces so naively we assumed that the fish would be allowed to be the star. Sadly a thick orange flavoured sauce is not a marriage made in heaven with a delicate fish like gurnard. For well cooked food I would not baulk at the cost but this was extremely mediocre cooking for the price. Perhaps it was the regular cook's day off.

Booked a table here while on holiday, really friendly service. Lovely place right by the sea with great local ales. The waitress went through all the fish dishes and told us how they were cooked and with what different sauces they came with, all unique. We started with the local mussels which were huge and better than we have had before, served with samphire and a curry powder. Main course fish for both of us, the fish was steamed and accompanied with gratin potatoes and an amazing sauce. We loved the food and highly recommend, these people work hard to produce some great food in a lovely friendly environment.

Although have been here a few times, this time not so enamoured with this quaint pub set in the lovely location of Dale. Stayed for lunch ordered a main, glass of wine and a coffee. Came to over £78. I had fish pie and my wife the steak & Stout pie. Although satisfied with portion and taste. We felt these were very over priced for what they were. Did not like the fact that billed for large wine 250ml what actually given more like 125ml. Service charge totalling 12.5% of the bill. £8.75 auto added making you feel awkward in a small compact area asking for it to be removed. In reality for what delivering your food and drink to your table no more than a few feet from the bar. Opinion staff friendly, food way over priced and it's up to the customer to value the service. Unfortunately will not be visiting again when in the area.

Absolutely delicious! Every one of the 3 courses we had was excellent. The main fish dish was particularly exceptional due to the amazing and unique sauce. Service was very very good and the location is beautiful. Sian and Simon really care about the food experience they provide.

Had a lovely lunch at the Griffin over the bank holiday weekend with our good friends. We went specifically for their seafood and was not disappointed. After we were shown to our table, our server walked us through the fish specials, in great detail, explaining how the dishes were prepared. The four of us had john dory ceviche, mussels, and fish cakes for starters, followed by halibut, john dory and fish pie. The food was delicious, yes a bit pin the pricey side - but life is all about experiences - and we certainly had a lovely lazy lunch here making more great memories.

I had a John Dory - expensive but worth it - the sauce was to die for, even better with a plate of chips. Our waitress Poppy was friendly and attentive.

The second time visting and eating here and the food and staff have been outstanding!! I would recommend the lobster arancini to start, it’s unreal! We’ve ate off both the standard and fish menu and both have been high quality. The staff are so friendly, their knowledge of the menu is impressive to say the least. We will be next Easter 😁

Incredible seafood, beautiful views, cosy pub and exceptional service. Expertly cooked local produce - yes, it’s not the cheapest food, but I’m still thinking about the cod, two days later! Worth every penny. Sian and her team make you feel so welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Just lovely!

This is the only pub in Dale. Lovely location but food was trying to be something it was not & was really expensive. Staff need more training! A simple menu would get more customers in.

Amazing food fish so fresh, sauces amazing.A wonderful setting over looking the bay. However the seafood menu is tribute to the owner who understands the beauty of local seafood. The Griffin is a gem in Pembrokeshire. I think more awards should come their way.

Such a wonderful spot with spectacular views, with a cosy pub feel in the main building plus a gorgeous conservatory space overlooking the bay. The team were so warm and welcoming, and they are enthusiastic and knowledgeable about each dish on the menu. The seafood was some of the best we've had; steamed halibut was ridiculously tender and the sauce was gorgeous. The chicken and leek pie was also lush.

Ahoy, mateys, beware of boarding the Griffin’s pirate fish menu: The skulduggery has blundered me booty through a young buccaneer's hornswoggly. I’ve landed many times at the Griffin, bamboozled by a fish menu nearly worthy of the price you pay. The setting reassures that no internal conflict is necessary when paying for the bill. Even the cutthroat antics employed by the server, regarding the procurement of a service charge on checkout, hardly dampened my memory of previous visits. But this time, I walked the plank, never to return again! To start, my wife’s fish soup was a brown quagmire resembling the muddy puddle she nearly lost her wellie in while crossing a boggy field earlier that day. Her wellie got so stuck in the sucking power of the mud that her foot came out of it, making her scream while nearly falling headfirst into the puddle. Looking into that bowl was like a flashback without the humour, especially when you tasted it, contemplated the cost, and listened to a codswallop tale of how delicious it is. I had three cold prawns that had died a death of hyperthermia on my plate. These were not king prawns, residing in a palace of flavours. They were shoddy, sad prawns cast out on an island of brown, mushy avocado. Tasteless, lifeless, and disrespected, much like I was. A high price to pay, but this was only the beginning… We hoped not all was lost as we anticipated our main course. We enthusiastically discussed the stunning, tiring 7-mile walk around the Dale Peninsula, how hungry it had made us, and whether pirates still sailed around the peninsula. We soon discovered they had actually landed! Next arrived my wife’s Hake, which had been bludgeoned to death in a chorizo and tomato sauce, all flavours of fish scuttled in a red sea that expertly added nothing of notable quality. My Gurnard, a fine-looking fish, had been drowned in a sweet, sickly-tasting and slurry-looking sauce. The adults' meals were confirmed shipwrecks, all had been lost at sea, but on land, things were better; my daughter loved her tiny children’s burger that came with a decent amount of well-cooked, crispy chips. It has to be mentioned, our friendly buccaneer waiter from Somerset worked hard to overstate the treasures he was selling us. Nevertheless, we had learned our lesson and declined to be plundered further by ordering dessert. I begrudgingly asked for the bill, and the young scallywag reminded me of the optional service charge, which never actually feels optional. The dilemma was that he had done his job well, but the sauces hadn’t. I pondered: was this service charge a cutthroat move from a rapscallion, or just his in-house training? These questions I could not answer, as I was done for, confused, tired, unable to wholeheartedly partake in any trade deal with him at this time. So, I cowardly gave my wife my debit card and let her make the choice; she paid the bill and service charge. It felt like a cutlass penetrating deep into my heart. Wounded, we disembarked the pub and headed to the car. Soon, we were caught off guard by what appeared to be an ambush; we heard shrieks from a ship's mate running at high speed towards us. I cowered; was this the final attack? Was this the end? No, I had left my mobile phone on the table in despondency due to the night’s shenanigans. Not all was lost, and thank goodness my wife paid that service charge!

The food here is sensational, we went for lunch here today and the food was amazing! We had three adults meals consisting of Cod, John Dory and Hake which were all outstanding and three children’s meals which were also fantastic! The manager recommended the mussels and he wasn’t wrong, they were phenomenal! Yes you pay more than a regular pub however you completely get what you pay for! We are already planning our next visit! Probably one of our top meals of the year and we dine out frequently in London! Could not recommend more!

This place is truly Pembrokeshire's hidden gem. The fish menu is second to none. We have just come back from Dubai and Richmond London where there are plenty of Michelin star restaurants yet, my husband and I have failed to find such tasteful food anywhere like The Griffin. The owners are extremely proud of their food and quite rightly so. The chef is clearly very talented with marrying different species of fish with such flavoursome sauces, what a talent! This is such an up market eatery with a down to earth atmosphere also, the staff are a credit to the owners.

Service was lovely and it’s a nice pub but absolutely staggered at the prices here. £20 for lasagne. £20 fish & chips and £11 for a chocolate brownie & ice cream. Unbelievable. And you’d need to take out a mortgage to choose something from the fish menu. What we had was ok but nothing exceptional about it. Not sure why people pay the prices they’re charging. This is after all a pub and not a fine dining restaurant. We used to go to a Michelin guide pub where we used to live. The Griffin’s prices were even dearer than theirs. They also stick on an optional 12.5% service charge! We live locally but unfortunately we won’t be returning. Can get better elsewhere at a much more reasonable price.

We've been to The Griffin many times for a drink, seen what others are eating and thought 'we must eat here sometime'. Well, now we have and it was delicious! We had the fish soup and main course of mussels and both were prefect - hot, great flavours and absolutely delicious. It is a bit pricey, but worth the money for top quality and we'd definitely return. Great food and lovely views - what more can you want!

We found this place last night of our holiday in Pembrokeshire, we had been eating previous nights at the high end fine dining restaurants in the area , but this was the best meal we had by far . We ordered from there fish menu , the hand dived scallops to start with were fantastic , best iv had . We had the turbot and halibut main course , all very generous portions, and the chefs light accompanying sauces were delicious. The vegetables, you could taste were so fresh and organic , it's one of the best meals iv had in ages . We highly recommend this restaurant and the lovely friendly service , and we will definitely be back . The location of the restaurant is stunning .

I visited this pub with my boyfriend one lunchtime during a holiday to Cornwall. The staff were really pleasant and the whole place had such a positive but laid back atmosphere. The "pub grub" was so good, we decided to return the following night to give their restaurant fish menu a go. What a good decision that I was. We completely chose from the fish menu and ordered the razor clams, scallops, lobster and haddock. Each item that came out was fresh, and cooked to perfection. When I'm back again, I'll make sure to return to this gem.

During our stay at Dale we ate dinner at the Griffin a couple of times and were always pleased with the food, service and location. The fish menu is quite extensive and appealing and everything we selected was just excellent. Fresh fish is never a cheap option at good restaurants but we found the Griffin did not rip us off and were good value for money. We especially liked the friendly, knowledgeable staff who seemed happy and proud to work at the Griffin. The Chef (I think he was the owner) found the time to talk to his dinners, which we thought was charming. Well done all of you that work at the Griffin and keep being enthusiastic about your locally caught, delightful fish! We will come and stay in Dale again soon and, of course, visit your establishment again.

Ate here yesterday - having read other good reviews we made sure we waited until Friday to visit Dale when the pub was open! Had a great lunch and were made very welcome. I enjoyed my razor clams starter, hubbie loved his scallops. For mains I had the turbot and he had the battered haddock - both very fresh and tasty. Regarding earlier comments on pricing we found the prices very reasonable given not only the quality but portion size. We were both too full for puddings after such generous portions! Thanks for a great meal.

We escaped a downpour here, we weren't planning on lunch, but ordered a sausage sandwich to share and it was great. The place was packed and very busy, but we'll run. The buildings are interesting, a maze of properties joined together, with the brewery downstairs. There's also a shop and coffee shop part of Harbwr. There are many places to eat and drink in Tenby and this one should not be missed
