Griffin in Swansea

I've never had a bad meal at this place and it's never really packed at lunch time, so you'll always find a table no problem. The food gets cooked and brought out quickly too. The portion sizes are good and they have substituted the Bangers & Mash with Quorn sausages when I've asked the staff if they are able to do that.

Great place for Sport. Huge Screens & Quality Sound. Really good viewing platform. Staff we're very welcoming and good range of draught.

everytime i walk past they have a board outside saying F1 was shown on the tele practice qually and race... so desided to pop in watvh f1 bit of food and drink then carry on with xmas shopping.. went inside and was told they will not put it on tele but we can hear the commentary???? it clearly states they put it on but wouldnt for us when we went there.. come on can you imagine listening to f1.... so false advertising.... all of them tvs and they would not put on 1 for me.... Terrible place and attitude will never go there again!!!!!

We went out on a Saturday night for a heated Swansea vs Cardiff game. We bought three pints and four Jager bomb to watch the game. The two ladies would like to have strong bow dark fruits flavor. However, they didn't have that flavor, so we took out the dark fruits flavor drinks outside of our bag to mix with the drinks we bought there. One of the woman bouncer came to us without any words like a decent human would have said, just took our drinks away. We didn't make a big deal out of it. We were polite and tidy. After about 5 mins, a large guy came and told us that apparently we had to leave. Fair play to the security guy, they were nice and polite they said it's okay. This big guy took the unfinished drink which was bought there away and forced us out without any reminder (we were going to buy more drinks at that moment) but with a piece of nasty horrible attitude. We do not think this is acceptable to treat the customers who are friendly and spent a good amount of money there!

I came to this place in two different occasions during my solo trip in Wales. I had a BBQ burger the first time and the mixed grill the second time. The grill was absolutely delicious and definitely great-value-for-money. Finally I tasted some very good local ales. I would definitely come back, should I be in Swansea again!

What a fantastic grand pub/restaurant this is. You walk in to this fabulous building and are greeted with the most friendliest staff , big smiles and cheeky banter, I knew this was the place for me, and what’s this a pool table, fabulous.Me and my friend spent hours playing and laughing. We had food which mine was a Katsu chicken burger so tasty will definitely be back not just for the burger but the cheeky £2.15 pints that are on offer too.Big shout out to the chefs that cooked that burger *chefs kiss

Great pub for all, great to watch sport as well as a great night out, brilliant music, would definitely recommend.

We booked with very short notice to watch the coronation and they gave us a booth decorated with various coronation themed items within the more private room to watch the coronation. We were each given a cocktail to drink whilst watching the coronation. We ordered 2 pitchers of the Long Island ice tea which were absolutely fantastic and so good value for money. We also ordered a 10 of the small plates to share and wow! The food was absolutely delicious and there was so much, all for less than £25! Would definitely come back here again.

Stay well away from this place worst pub food I’ve ever had when my order turned up there was food items missing off the plate and the food was cold and when I asked the waitress to change it she was very rude to me and told me there’s nothing she could do about my cold meal spoiling are Mother’s Day meal for the family staff training needed and food checks needed before giving to customers such a shame because the drink’s prices are really good

Perfect pub/restaurant for a few drinks and laughs with the girls , cocktails are 2-4-1 and good value for money too. The passion fruit iced teas were good just like a pornstar. Bar staff were really friendly and quick to serve us, they recommended us to the cocktail of choice. Back ground music was just the right amount of loud were u could sing a long but also still talk . Will definitely be back another day

Family Lunch for 5 of us, 2 of the meals had to be sent back. The Scampi was so over cooked you could not cut it. The Cheese Burger and chips had cold chips and was missing the cheese. When it came back the chips were still cold. When we spoke to the server she said 'not a lot we can do about that' eventually they bought it back with fresh chips. So the food was poor and the waitress rude and unhelpful. Not recommended

We attended on a student night on a Wednesday to drink as a group of friends, however by 9.30 the speakers were blasting on their loudest setting, making it almost impossible to talk to my mates. No one was on the dance floor, meaning they could have turned the music down in order to accommodate customers.

Called in on a Friday lunch time while visiting Swansea. Walked in, just an average chain pub. Decided on the traditional Hand battered Cod & chips. They had run out of cod (Friday lunch time?) so we’re offered the cheaper pollock. When the meals came, it was more like a traditional MacDonalds meal but with peas. Traditional fish & chip? They were fries. The pollock was very nice but the fries were cold and hard. Didn’t enjoy the meal wouldn’t recommend

Poor standard of food chips over cooked minimum on the plate, left feeling hungry and unsatisfied one of the worst meals I've had recently, wouldn't even give those chips to my worst enemy

Came in for a Saturday afternoon of watching the football and having a couple of pints, dragged the mrs along and they even had some fancy cocktails for her too so that kept me out of the dog house. Will definitely be back!

As the title suggests, what an awesome place to watch a bit of sport and have a good bit of grub. Staff are friendly and efficient- making your visit a most pleasant one.

Ordered food, absolutely shocking Microwaved pie cold on one side hot on the other. Chicken strips on burger cold I cannot believe how a major company like this can produce such poor quality food,or am I being nieve. Could do better.

Thought we would give this a try during our stay in Swansea. Hardly anyone in there during the early evening , which suited us as it was nice and quiet.We had fish and chips, which was cooked at the time and came out piping hot.This ended up as being two meals for £8.99 which was a surprise after looking at the menu, but was quite good for the price.The drinks were slightly dearer that Wetherspoons, which is why is was a lot quieter.

We were staying at the premier inn 50 yards down the street which didn't have a proper restaurant really, so came here for food a couple of times. Was very good value, and even had "hidden" discounts. Example got 2 chicken masalas with chips and naan, and a pint of strongbow for about 11 quid! Loads of tellies with the sport on, and a nice little outside area out the front too. Have a week booked here soon, will definitely be coming here for meals(and some drinks) most of the time! And thankfully this time there will be no mask wearing either haha! Oh yes the staff were great too.

Me and my partner visited her on a Saturday lunch time (we booked online before arriving) You can't really fault this place for value for money. The meals were pretty basic but nice enough and cheaper than your average place! I had cod and chips and the cod was lovely. The staff were all so attentive and followed the covid guidelines really well. Would come back here again in the future!

Friendly service, food was just edible but resolved when we spoke to the server. Not great atmosphere at the moment unfortunately.

Had gammon steak it was like rubber way over cooked and bland. I could hardly cut it only had one mouthful and left the rest.

We were made to feel welcome, gave our contact details and was shown to our table. We order the burger meals which include a free drink. My husband asked if gin was one of the drinks available which it wasn’t but was persuaded to buy a gin which was half price. My husband had a pint as part of the deal, at no point did the lady behind the bar offer another pint as part of the deal for my burger. He went back to the bar to rectify this but “his account had been closed and it was too late”A nice. meal anyway but who ended up having the free drink

Not one to leave bad reviews often, but there is was nothing good about this!!! We ordered chicken wings and nachos to share as a starter, after waiting more than half hour they came with our main meal and were the wrong ones!! Order bbq came out hot!! Sent them back and ate our mains, fish and chips can't go wrong! Wrong there was so much grease on the plate the fish was still swimming. They brought back the right chicken wings but they were inedible. I took them back asked for a refund and even the young lady said how bad there were!!! I know you get what you pay for but at £4.99 it wasn't that cheap! Sorry was so annoyed forgot to take pics.

Went for the triple cheese and bacon burger which was more like a rustler burger with a stale sour burger sauce along with some cold chips and extremely dry chicken wings All the food was brought out in such a jumble and the waiter seemed to only be able to carry one dish at a time at the pace of a snail

I visited the Griffin today with friends , we had to book a table a few days ago , but as soon as we came into restaurant , staff welcoming at door and helpful showing us to our table , myself and my friend s are disabled but they made us feel welcome. We been to Griffin once a week before lockdown started . We were impressed how extra clean restaurant and bar area was and staff helpful to customers with new hygiene and paying system at bar . The food cheap to pay, its half price at the minute , a limited menu but the burger and chips deal excellent value for money, and it was served quickly and was nice and fresh . We recommend this restaurant.

First time visit to the Griffin, not very busy so had no problem getting a table. Ordered at the bar, pie and a pint offer on a Wednesday but had limited availability. Meal was ok which included a drink. Later went to order a pubbing, 2 for 1 offer but again limited stocks. Clearly storm Dennis was to blame.Wouldn't rush back but for the price ok.

Food was good, but the service is bad! Recently I waited seated for 20 mins for them to tell me it was out of stock, and the other time I waited an hour while everyone else had finished their food. I asked where it is and they finally bring it out, but it tasted like it had been there for a while? Sooo disappointing, no money was offered back.

I visit the Griffin once a week with my friends . We all have disabilities . The staff are friendly and helpful .The food is reasonably priced and they do gluten free options too, and low fat options.Bryn who served us today went the extra mile to help my friend with a query about gluten free desserts. He checked the list of ingredients for the item she wanted and double checked with the chef to see if it was in stock. She had a quick chat with the chef with what she wanted and it was no problem at all to sort out issue.A lovely atmosphere in the pub and plenty of space for wheelchair access. Bryn and other staff helpful.

Had lunch at the Griffin in Wind street today. Was excellent food with a very friendly atmosphere. The Pizza was to die for, truly excellent. Price was fabulous,will be returning.

Kjæresten og jeg endte opp med å besøke denne plassen to ganger på tre dager. Første gangen var veldig tilfeldig da vi ville ha en pause i regnværet og ta en øl stengt kjøkkenet.Nok en kamp bare et par dager etter gjorde at vi dro tilbake. Det var siste kvelden vår i Swansea, men vi var kjempefornøyde med maten og angrer ikke et sekund på det. Maten utklasset faktisk flere måltider vi har hatt påog kanskje se noe fotball. Vi ble fristet av menyen, men da vi til slutt fant ut av at vi skulle spise der hadde de andre restauranter i området. Reiser gjerne dit igjen.

This is a really nice bar if you like sports. I cannot recommend the food though especially if you are a large party.

Had a quick bite to eat before work, been here a a few times so you know what you getting. Food is always the same, just ok.

We came in early to watch the Rugby and have a drink. Very nice atmosphere and staff. The place is very clean and well taken care of.

We have called in a few times when shopping in Swansea. Food is great value, a good alternative to wetherspoons. The only issue with the food is the sides can be a bit hit and miss..we had the pies and my peas were hard and my partner's vegetables were very dry other than that the pie, chips and the gravy were lovely. Have to agree with the other review that the place is freezing. Every time we have been it is like the Aircon is on. It was a wet and miserable October Saturday when we last came but was warmer outside

Didn't fancy cooking so called in on the way home and it was ok. Guy behind the bar was helpful and pleasant. The food was ok, you get what you pay for. Its just like a spoons really.

We discovered this place a few weeks ago and have been back twice - Once for the veggie burgers (with wotsits and monster munch on top!) and once for a veggie breakfast. Food was great both times. Only negative to note is that it was SO cold inside on both occasions! Felt like the air con was on even though it was raining outside and it's definitely not been the warmest August! We were going to stay for dessert on the second occasion but had to leave to warm up! Definitely bundle up if you're planning on visiting.

I cam here with my husband and mother-in-law for dinner on a friday evening. I'd never been in before and i was amazed at how lovely the place is.

Visited here today for my second time and had the chicken feast was stunning, huge portion. Staff have been great on both visits, great pub to watch sport. Really nice affordable food , good quality food. Have also had the what a porka burger which is huge! So nice. The chocolate fudge cake is defintley the best thing on the menu though and with desserts 2 for 1 for £5 defintley can’t complain ! I’ll be a regular from now on :)

As a frequent visitor of the Griffin I was horrified at what we was served today,Chicken cooked to a crisp for pregnant granddaughter( inedible,) curly fries to over cooked to eat,baked potato with beans approx 20 beans on top of a over cooked potato,When I complained to Waitress she said she would speak to chef,She then returned with a tiny dish half full of beans.I asked her was they a shortage of beans,She mumbled something and walked away,The most disappointing meal we have ever eaten at the Griffin

Very basic pub food. Ordered the beef yorkshire pudding wrap, hardly any beef in it just 2 little pieces the yorkshire was like cardboard like it had been warmed in the microwave came with oven chips and peas. Portion sizes not that great, left still hungry. Didn't bother staying to try dessert.

Big pub inside with lots of screens for viewing sports. Beer was pretty reasonable priced and whilst it was a busy saturday night, getting served was not an issue. Would return.

This pub serves good beer and good food. It compares favourably with many other bars we have visited.

Went to this place after being at their sister venue (Eli Jenkins).

We went here today as we got recommended by a friend and we were not disappointed. I had the chicken wings too start and the porka burger and they were beautifully cooked to perfection. I couldn't finish my burger as I needed too keep room for desert which was warm chocolate fudge cake with ice cream and it was the star of the whole meal. The fudge cake had a caramel filling with chocolate oozing out of it.

I was visiting Swansea this weekend and a had similar experience from the over-aggressive and ‘bullying’ door staff at The Griffin to one of the other reviews for the same day. I had my sons with me and, knowing it would be busy for the rugby, we went to The Griffin at 1130 and checked with the staff we would be able to get in for the game (with a 16 year old) later in the afternoon. I also said he would not be drinking and we would leave by 1900 (aligned with their policy). I was told by the (very helpful) bar staff that “there would be no problem”. Later we arrived for the game and the guys on the door would not let my son in and refused any compromise.. They said it was ‘too full’. Despite this there were floods of people going in wearing ‘Wales’ shirts and actually plenty of space inside (I was clearly not Welsh!). In my view these guys behaved with unnecessary aggression, were blatant racists and had a mind-set of ‘looking for a fight’. In most places this kind of ‘security’ was replaced by a more enlightened approach around 20 years ago. It seems The Griffin prefer the old school ‘thug on the door’. Maybe they need to look at this again before someone gets seriously hurt by these morons (see other reports of physical abuse from the same day)

Spent the day in Swansea and decided to try this place as menu looked good.

Called in late morning for breakfast. Pleasantly surprised at how nice the place was. Our food when it came was very good- everything cooked well, and washed down with a lovely cup of tea. Will call again when in town.

Had a meal of gammon , which was very very nice. The staff were all so welcoming, was a pleasure to be there. The Griffin was very clean, tables were cleared promptly and even though they were busy with a Christmas party we were served straight away.

A great place to pop in for a quick drink during the Welsh Autumn Imternationals. We were able to find a table easy even though it was quite busy. Drinks were well priced and quick service

Go here all the time. Highly recommend!! Often go to the band nights on a Friday with friends. The staff are really friendly, they always make us feel welcome.

Popped in on Saturday and had a great lunch. Beef and onion pie was tasty and with 2 meals for £9:45 a bargain. Great choice of beers. Well definitely call again

We called in for a meal on a Friday night and it was fairly calm in there, a good choice of beer and lager and fantastic value food which was very good.

Started our night here for a birthday night out and we were absolutely blown away with the service from the staff and in particular Jordan! He was attentive and friendly, he definitely helped with making it a memorable night, we all thoroughly enjoyed and will certainly be back! Thank you :)

Had food here as a family, good quick service, food good, basic pub grub, but lovely. Took our 11yr old with us and she also enjoyed the food, children allowed until 8pm.

Booked this for 15 lads for Saturday 10th March. Private area to watch soccer and Rugby. Very nice staff, good drink and good prices. Food was perfectly ok. Only down side we pre booked a package with some pitchers for 10 pound. but had to pay another 10 when we got there as we were told it was 10 off not 10 for the pitchers ???? But all said very enjoyable day there.

Came here with my partner for a bite to eat one afternoon and we were not disappointed! Absolutely stunning food and the staff were really friendly :)

My friends and I visited the night last night, my friend was drunk but causing no harm, but as she was drunk we were asked to leave. After obliging and walking out with the security guard another security guard grabs her for no reason and starts dragging her out of the club and throws her down the steps onto the floor! Not only did she fall and cut her chin open she was humiliated in front of everyone else. As I was sober myself I asked to speak to the security manager and the guy who threw her said it was him!! Totally uncalled for and horrible men!

We were looking for somewhere to eat on a quiet Sunday evening. We came across this establishment by chance. The menu looked good so we went in to eat and drink. The food came out hot and the staff were very friendly.

Went here Wednesday afternoon for food with my family, the girl behind the bar was lovely and quick. The place was quiet, I love the idea they have colourings for children food was so nice but really small on portion sizes.

Visited here last week. Again very quick service and great value meals. Staff always friendly and helpful. They have some really good lunch deals and great for a quick pub meal in your lunch break / with friends.

Went in for a drink after 5 choices of which there was none ended up with a g and t which was lovely

We went shopping and decided we would go here again as we have been before and loved it. Today may have been an off day as my wife had yorkshire wraps and chips and I had the pizza pie with chips. Unfortunately the food was cold. They very kindly got us another bowl of chipa but they were also not hot. The staff apologised and give us a refund. I will still be going here as we do like the food but as I say unfortunately it was an off day today. We could not eat the food. I will say that although the food was cold, I would still highly advise people to eat here as the staff and manager were very sincere, friendly and helpful. Thank you to the staff and we will be going again.

Just come back from a week in Swansea and visited The Griffin on Wednesday 8th November and Friday 10th November. Both times we had wonderful meals and superb service. On the Wednesday we both had Fish and Chips 1) the plates were hot and 2) both meals were great. On the Friday we had Fish and Chips and Sausage and Mash with 2 extra bowls of chips. Again both plates were hot and the meals were delicious. I have to say that the food was hot from start to finish on both occasions. Great compliments to the Chef and also to the Bar Staff who were friendly and very efficient. Definitely will go there again and recommend to anyone. Many thanks. David

I visited The Griffin twice in the same week with a friend to watch the football. On both occasions the pub was not very busy and on both occasions we ordered food and a few pints each. The Griffin is a decent enough pub serving cheap food and drink at a discount if you have one of their loyalty cards. You don't go there expecting a five star dining experience but on both occasions we had the misfortune to be served by who I can only describe as the most disinterested barmaid currently working in Wind Street. On the first visit I was surprised to hear another customer banging his glass on the bar. When I looked over I could see it was because he was trying to attract the girl's attention as she was engrossed in a phone call out of sight in an area off the bar. Clearly she wasn't amused at this disruption. Her displeasure was apparent to anyone of the half a dozen customers who attempted to get served whilst she had other things to do. Visiting again a few days later the young lady was again on duty. No greeting when you go to the bar or when she brings the food out but I must say she is an expert at pulling a pint and texting with the other hand. I could go on but I won't. All I'll say is that the Griffin is a decent enough place to go for a cheap drink and bar meal if you are watching sport. However a little bit of attention needs to be paid by the duty manager with regards to the way the staff conduct themselves whilst on duty as they will be driven away to one of the other venues.

Went here for a nice evening with my friends last night. As soon as I got through the door and to the bar I was hugely disappointed. I was only there 5 minutes and the bartender EMMY was so rude! I paid for my first drink and I had no change on me so I decided to pay with card and her words were “are you really paying for one drink with your card?” And she proceeded to roll her eyes at me. I was actually shocked at her disgusting attitude. I politely asked her why that was a problem as I felt like I had done something wrong and she proceeded to shout in my face and said “Don’t start on me, love.” I walked away and was incredibly upset. She had then told my two friends that I had to finish my drink and she was going to kick me out after I did NOTHING. Griffin has lost a valuable customer. I’ve been going here for over 3 years and I will never step foot in the place again due to one girl who couldn’t do her job properly. I want to say thank you to the manager though for coming up to me and apologising for her actions.

Only called in these premises because it was early and very quiet.Good selection of food and drink and service was very good.Food was excellent and very good value.The pub itself was clean despite it being in the middle of the busy pub quarter of the city.

visited on a sat..10 of us kids and adults...great prices on drinks and chose the sat special of 5 starters on a plank.came really quickly and well presented. Fab onion rings!! yumm!!

Ordered what I thought was meant to be chicken alfredo with a cream sauce but was served a children's portion of mac 'n' cheese with 3 dried up chicken scraps. The 'chef' did add 2 slices of garlic bread with a few lettace leaves - on a scorching hot plate! When I asked for salad dressing, the waitress looked at me like I was from another planet. Maybe customers aren't expected to eat the salad...?

A local advised us this pub. It has a great interior and very friendly waiters. The food was ok, but nothing special. But to be honest: the food in al these kind of pubs is quite the same in Wales. So if you are looking for a quick snack in a good looking place then this pub is ok.

Visiting Swansea for the weekend and was looking for somewhere to watch the rugby. Saw the Griffin so we went in. Two massive screens, great atmosphere, few beers whilst watching, very friendly good quick service seeing it was jam packed. British Lions won so a great start to the day

We were up early to watch Lions v All Blacks. By 8am most of the pubs were getting busy & we were lucky to find a table at The Griffin. We have never had breakfast there before. The bar was busy but my partner got served quite quickly. The staff seemed to be well organised with one member of staff making the teas & coffees leaving the others to take orders & just serve alcohol & cold drinks.

this was recommended by our hotel and it did not disappoint. excellent value for money and really tasty food. good selection of lagers and beers and the service was very quick.

Went here to watch the First FA cup semi final, got there around 12 and left around 5pm. Great choice of drinks, reasonably priced and speedy service. Food was excellent too, we had a plank with five different dishes on at a very good price. Loads of screens all around showing SSNHQ, champions cup rugby and the FA cup. Only minor hiccup was the draught Peroni tasting not like Peroni but the staff were happy to exchange for a bottle instead (with a sincere apology to boot)

Was very busy. The food was very quick to arrive. I had asked for a salad with no dressing. It came with no dressing. Yay. All food looked really good. Great place to watch sport as had numerous big screens and different games playing on each.
