Unfortunately disappointing. The four of us (four adults) were shown to a tiny table, clearly suitable only for two people, hard up against the bar, when bigger tables for four were clearly available. We were told they were all booked. Over the next hour and a half we then watched as three couples (two people each) were each shown to each of the three much bigger tables for four around us. Why? There were several much bigger unused tables in other areas of the restaurant. When the food arrived, I'm afraid my pork belly was literally inedible. It was so uncooked it literally couldn't be cut at all with the (blunt) knives provided. To their credit a replacement beef dish was provided fairly quickly. But these sorts of errors are at best extremely thoughtless. It's been a while since we went to the Greyhound. It used to be very nice. Unfortunately after spending nearly £200 we came away feeling very disappointed. Uncooked food aside, being squeezed onto a tiny table for no good reason wasn't great at all. It will now be a long time before we go again.

The pub is a really quaint and has lovely grounds. We went for lunch and the quality of the food was good however I found the portion size of my fish to be extremely small considering it was £18 for fish and chips. When we were asked about how the meal was and I said it was very small the waitress commented "oh I haven't worked here long "and "they used to be big " then walked off! I left hungry! I found it overpriced for a pub lunch, needless to say I will not return.

Having not been to The Greyhound for a year or so, I was thrilled with our choice. Nothing had changed, everything was as good as before. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and shown to our table. Despite the restaurant being busy, Service was prompt and friendly and the food ( Steak & Kidney Pie / Fruity Chicken Curry ) was plentiful and delicious. Highly recommended. We certainly won't leave it so long till we return

Arrived around 2pm in beautiful sunshine so decided to sit in the garden, in the sunshine rather than indoors or in the very shaded terrace with a strong breeze. Went to get our drinks. Only 2 beers on tap and it took 10 minutes to get a beer and a 1/2 of Guinness. Did come away with 2 pints rather than the one I wanted because the barrel of Butty was playing up so was offered it free if it tasted ok. Went back half an hour later to order food to be told that it was no longer ‘summer service’ so I couldn’t have food in the garden, I could only sit in the pub or on the shaded, breezy outdoor terrace. Decided not to eat. It’s a pity that there was no flexibility at all in serving the customer.

Booked here for one night when travelling down to Cornwall. Was surprised at the lovely setting this place is at. Although we asked for a ground floor room due to my disability, we were given a first-floor room. Luckily, I managed up the stairs. It was a spacious room, with tea/coffee facilities and an ensuite bathroom. Staff were attentive, and the food was also a good standard. With a good size garden and even a dog walking field, this place was ideal for what we wanted. Breakfast the following morning was a decent size, served inside the inn. With eating outside the night before, I didn't see inside. It was a lovely old style pub inside, with the same great staff as the night before. If it wasn't for the room mix up I would have gave 5 stars.

Great spot and very helpful staff, however advertised room rate is not what was charged and staff weren’t willing to honour the price difference although it was listed their website. Left a bit of a bad taste after that was a positive stay. advertised room rate was £105 however nightly rate charged was £120. After spending a lot of money over the stay and looking forward to potentially having a birthday party there it was disappointing to not even be able to negotiate a couple of glasses of wine as a gesture of goodwill.

We visited on the first evening of our Wye Valley trip for dinner. We shared a main, the vegetable lasagne which was delicious, and 5 tapas dishes. Only down side was the cocktail I ordered was not to normal strength as I expected. Atmosphere and service were the best. The grounds are very relaxing with open space for children to play and also a fenced dog play area which we have never seen before I’d definitely return

This is a lovely looking pub in a great setting. They have a great terrace where you can have a drink or something to eat and also have a large secure dog area where your dogs can have a good run. We arrived approximately 15 mins before our reservation and ordered some drinks while on the terrace. After 25 mins the drinks hadn’t arrived and we moved inside to our table. We were shown to an upstairs area to a table which was slightly too small for 4 adults, we asked if we could move to a larger unoccupied table behind us to be told all other tables were booked. The room we were in had no one else in it but use. 40 mins after ordering the drinks arrived with an apology but no explanation. The food arrived and was just OK, a lukewarm lasagne arrived without the chips, although they did provide more gravy for the Sunday lunches when requested. Throughout the 90 minutes or so we were there no one else was shown to the room we were in, maybe we could have had the bigger table after all. In summary, lovely looking place which flatters to deceive.

Lively pub and nice atmosphere. However food was not very warm and over cooked. Tapas was dry and hard ( chicken strips) chips very over cooked and dry it was as though everything had been left under the lamps for ages. Chicken burger was the same, dry and unappealing. Steak though nice was luke warm. Brie was over cooked. And the burgers were in a reddish bun that was inedible. Lamb kebab was very nice as were the king prawns off the tapas menu. But ,we decided to forgo dessert and left.

Our ladies lunch club met at the greyhound, we were put in a room on our own which unfortunately meant we were out of the usual service area. Food was very good but service in between courses was non existent. Other than taking our food order and bringing it to the table no one came near. We asked for tap water for the table a couple of times but it never arrived except for one glass. When we wanted more drinks we had to go and find someone to order them from. I am sure if we had been placed in the main part of the pub/bar the service would have been much better. We asked for the volume of the music to be turned down when we ordered starters and again when our main meal was served but it remained too hight for us to comfortably converse and no explanation was offered if they were unable to reduce the volume.

We went hoping for a nice beer garden to spend a warm spring evening with friends, and were not disappointed. It was absolutely heaving when we arrived but we managed to get a table outside. The decking area is really lovely, especially with all the lights around the central tree. The atmosphere was great, nice music and attentive service, even though they were clearly very busy. Lovely food, including great vegetarian and vegan options (which is not always easy to find in this area) but I have to say it's the staff that make this place; they just look like they enjoy their job which just adds to the atmosphere. All five of us had a great evening and will definitely be booking again very soon!

Our little Westie dog was very much welcomed with his own bed and bowls provided in the room. We loved the doggy play field and used it a few times to wear our little one out! We had dinner in the top bar with our dog sat with us, food was excellent and your Thatchers Gold cider was awesome. After a good nights sleep we were served a very tasty breakfast where there is plenty of choice. Overall a very nice stay, very dog friendly and all the staff we met were very nice too.

Me and my husband went here for the first time for our anniversary meal and even before eating we knew we wanted to come back! The atmosphere was so welcoming and cosy! I'm in a wheelchair and trust us we went in through the one entrance that had steps up to the dining room haha but rather than have us go all the way back around the building the member of staff (I'm so sorry I can't remember her name but she was lovely); welcomed us in and sat us in the library. The perfect setting for a book lover like me! We loved how much the pub seems to love dogs and the doggy decor, we even met the resident dog. Onto the food, it was gorgeous! I always leave a bit of my main to make sure I have room for dessert but it was very hard to do! The chicken burger was so good, deliciously crunchy onion rings and my husband's garlic bread was insane (obviously pinched a piece haha). I am glad I left room for dessert because the Ferror Roche Cheesecake with blackberry ice cream was divine! Our server was lovely too she's a credit to your staff. Our whole experience at the Greyhound Inn was lush and the surrounding countryside is beautiful! We'd definitely recommend this place to anyone and we will definitely be returning! As I only have a few more weeks of pregnancy left it will be our last meal out for a while but what a last meal out! Thank you Greyhound Inn for such a lovely experience!

Stayed overnight with a group of 9 friends and family on Saturday and had a fabulous time. As usual, we received a really warm welcome from Kelly and her staff on our arrival and throughout our stay . We thoroughly enjoyed a few pre- dinner drinks in the Alpine Lodge which created such a good atmosphere but unfortunately led to some very poor singing from our group - apologies to other guests . The dinner menu was quite extensive with a wide range of dishes to suit all tastes and was enjoyed by all. The men in particular were very pleased with the ‘real ales’ that were available too. We are now planning our next visit in 2024 and cannot wait to return. Our thanks to Kelly and staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

After eating here for a recent family Birthday, had been looking forward to Easter Lunch. When shown to our table we were quite concerned that for a party of five the table was a small round bar table that felt very cramped. After asking to move we were told we could indeed have another table but had a 1.5 hour time limit, this would have been fine had it not taken half hour after arrival to take our order. The whole experience was very rushed, when trying to explain staff appeared rude and extremely defensive advising others had not complained and as it was Easter tables were limited, again fine but we had booked over a month ago. We were eventually moved outside to have desert due to another party arriving for our table, 3 tables later and a most uncomfortable dinning experience we will not be returning. Staff could do with some additional training on how to handle customer feedback. Starters and puddings were average but the Sunday lunch was good, however the dinning experience was sadly poor.

We have just returned from a stay at the Grey Hound Inn. I would highly recommend a stay and meal here. The pub and gardens are exquisite, the sun terraces are beautiful, one south facing and one slightly out of direct sunlight, so alfresco dining to suit everyone. The pub was extremely clean and well presented full of rustic charm. You can see the owners and staff work hard keeping the pub and hotel looking and running so well. The pub has dog friendly sections and a secure dog paddock. The food was beautiful we sampled the tapas and sangria yesterday and the sunday roast today, the cauliflowercheese is a must. The food was of a very high quality looked and tasted amazing and despite being very busy, there were no delays on food being served and tables being cleared. Our room was spotless with a stunning view, the power shower was very refreshing in this heat, the beds are very comfortable. We loved the little touches too, beautiful welsh cakes waiting for you at check in and lically produced mugs for your morning cuppa were lovely. You must visit the cwtch too, theit lovely gift shop with lically sourced gifts, i had a beautiful tapas board. Lastly the staff, what a team so efficient and hard working and extremely friendly, we were very impressed at how well organised the service was and how well they worked as team. We've already booked our next stay. You will not be disappointed if you stay or dine here. My photos probably dont do it the justice it deserves.

The meals arrived after an acceptable time, The cod was in a lovely crispy batter and not overcooked. The gammon was really good and tasty and a very generous portion. Staying with two children (11 and 13 years), we got an ensuite-room and it was lovely made with two separate beds for the children and 'very british' and comfortable decoration. We fell in love immediately and slept very good, no disturbances to hear from the nearby street. Lunch time visit, liver and bacon plus chicken chasseur ordered, both with chips. Chips over cooked and tasteless, liver and bacon nicely cooked, chicken was an over cooked supreme (breast), the chasseur sauce had no depth or particular flavour, reminded me of a packet or tinned sauce that had been tarted up by adding mushroom and jarred baby onions. Dessert, Apple and gooseberry crumble with custard and hazelnut meringue with raspberries and ice cream, both desserts had been bought in, the crumble was so hot it should have come with a health warning, the mix in the crumble had no particular taste, the meringue was Ok, the best bits were the raspberries and ice cream. Great place to visit in the summer for evening meal. Food is always pretty good, breakfast is really excellent, nice atmosphere, very welcoming, but let down by poor accommodation, very old fashioned by todays standards, poorly furnished, old wobbly uncomfortable beds. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday after my brother recommended it to us. The pub is really lovely inside (and out) with a very authentic and cosy feel to it. There are quite a lot of original features inside which is a really nice touch. The staff were all really friendly and helpful, and the menu was very appetising! We are not vegetarians but often like to eat the veggie meals and we both felt the veggie offering was a bit more interesting than your average pub. We both had a starter and a main and were both really happy with the quality of the food - I desperately wanted to have dessert but unfortunately was just too full. I think next time we go (and there will definitely be a next time) we might just have mains so we can save room for pudding! Definitely somewhere I will take family and friends and recommend to people.

We have been to this pub many times but on the last two occasions we have been disappointed by the wait for our food order to arrive. The table next to us had three sets of different couples order and eat their food before ours arrived. Two of us ordered lambs liver, which arrived with burnt onions, not caramelised, burnt onions and over cooked liver, not worth the wait. Two of us had the Pork Roberta, the Dianne style sauce was superb, well balanced and flavoursome, the meat had no flavour if its own. The waiter thought it was funny that we had to wait over an hour for our main course whilst the regular customers had far better service. I was asked a few times if I enjoyed it I said it was alright, I did not express my disappointment as when I commented on the wait for food I got a gob full from the waiter.

We visit the Greyhound as often as we can which is never often enough. I wish I could pick it up and move it nearer to home. It is the perfect place for a meal or a drink. The food and service never fail to impress and, by having daily specials, there is always something different on the menu. Keep up the good work!

Whenever we have visitors from outside the area, this is the first place on the list. The whole setting is stunning and the drive to the Greyhound is part of the experience. The inside is like a classic old country pub with a good mix of friendly locals and people from further afield. The food is almost like going to your grans house, big portions, local produce and very hearty. Having visited here over 10 times we have never been disappointed!

We set out early as the pub can get busy on a weekend. The pub at this time was not busy.We enjoyed a good meal and were chatting and enjoying a drink and the general ambience. By this time the pub had become quite busy. We were approached by the "female" who appeared to be in charge who wanted us to move to the bar area so that she could reuse our table for other guests.(I point out here that there was no available area within the bar for my party to sit.) In making her (I shall call it a request) she was rude, arrogant and overbearing. If there is no available seating, why continue to take food orders. In the difficult times we are having, I would have thought that establishments like this would be trying to retain existing good customers, not alienate them. There are many alternative places in the area to experience and I will do. Finally I do feel sorry for the chef proprietor who has worked very hard over a number of years to establish his business. Forward thinking is required to prevent such episodes or at least have them dealt with by an individual with a degree of tact.

Having looked at the Greyhound on numerous occasions we decided to visit this country pub with friends on a saturday evening. When we arrived at about 7.30 the pub was very busy and we were lucky to find a table in one of the bar areas. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and the staff very friendly and helpful. We ordered our food and were not disappointed when it came. All four of us had a lovely meal and a very nice evening in a great country pub. When we left at around 10pm the place was still full and buzzing.I am sure we will be returning in the near future and can highly recommend the Greyhound if you want a nice meal in a lovely atmosphere.

I have been going to this restaurant for over 50 years. It never fails to provide a great menu at competitive prices and the food is just perfect. The landlord is very pleasant and very efficient and the service is superb. It can get very busy so booking is advised. It is an old coaching inn with lots of history and atmosphere and lots of small areas for dining, as well as outside. Perfect!

Lovely place, lots of different little rooms to dine in. Fabulous food, well presented. Nice to see lots of local produce used. Nice friendly staff. Prices a little more expensive than most, but a great place to go for a treat or a special occasion. Nice gardens and space to sit outside to enjoy a drink.

This restaurant is in a beautiful rural setting.Staff are very polite and friendly. Our food was gorgeous, fish delicious. My only crictism would be the awful frozen chips, homemade would have been much nicer and what I would have expected from this restaurant.

Spring is here apparently so a meal in a lovely country pub should be just the ticket. Normally the Greyhound have wonderful hanging baskets but probably due to the cold weather they weren't out, hopefully they will be out soon from previous experience they are stunning. Friendly and efficient bar staff and an excellent choice of properly cooked pub food. I had the whitebait followed by liver and bacon which was excellent, my partner had the duck wraps and local sausages and chips all sounds rather boring but not at all, very traditional and really tasty. There were many other more exotic choices but due to the cool weather we were in a more comfort food mood.Lots of good beers available, shame I was doing the driving could have stayed and gone through most of them, Ah! On leaving my partner was fascinated when walking through the gardens by the huge fountain and pond, it was her first visit and she was most impressed. Can't wait for the warmer weather.

Sandwiches bulked out with lettuce, tomato and cucumber, then info on the table telling customers, you have an hour at the table unless their not busy,,,more info on the table telling customers if they want the coffee and cake special , which is only on for an hour in the morning you actually only have 45 minutes so they can clear for lunch 😂. So while our sandwiches were ok at £8.50 each,we won't be returning it's not worth the journey to be watching the clock and having the threat of being asked to leave because your time's up at the table
