Been here for a quick, quiet pint many times over the years (never eaten here) and it serves its purpose. No frills pub with lock-side location, affordable beer / Wine selection

Arrived soaking wet after a downpour. Very welcoming staff made us feel at home. Very nice pints of AK were served. The Beer was in top condition. Thanked for our custom as we left. Will visit again. Thank you.

Incredibly friendly and a wonderful stop and rest after one of the beautiful ramblers walks around Gunpowder park. Gentle atmosphere and the staff were incredibly thoughtful. Great location next to the canal

I'd heard mixed reviews about this place, but thought I would give it the benefit of the doubt. What a waste of time and money! Martin was rude and just couldn't be bothered with our group. When the food arrived it was clearly not cooked from fresh. I won't be back and do not recommend. Don't make my mistake - read the poor reviews!

Been drinking here on and off for years now, the staff are rude, disrespectful and just plain horrible. The scenery and pub itself is ace, but you go away from it feeling like crap, which I've not experienced before. Dodge it like a bullet, my personal opinion. Rude.

Friendly staff and locals. Haven't tried the food but looks good on the plate. I have been coming here for the last 20 years on and off.

Having travelled down from the north on a Friday afternoon through rush hour stopped here for a quick drink before going to hotel . Locals seemed friendly enough, and pub looked OK. Went to bar which served lounge and tap room, waited ten minutes, girl saw us but keeps serving tap room regulars just ignored us we left. Not very welcoming at all.

Local people do not eat here... and most go elsewhere - has had umpteen landlords since I have lived here nearly 20 years. 5 of us went to eat - no one else was eating - 1 turned nose up at food and 4 ate - all were sick and McMullen said their procedures were sound and it was not their food...

We stopped here for drinks & a lunchtime snack on a hot day. We had been on a long walk alongside the river Lea so this was a much appreciated find! Was very pleasant sitting outside opposite the river with a cold drink and some decent sandwiches.

Called in many times over the past 6 Years. Staff always friendly, food is ok (nothing special) but that reflects in the price. The locals always are welcoming and friendly, always manage to have a laugh and a joke here!

A riverside pub - although you can't actually see the river Lea from the pub because of the high banks of this part of the canalised river. I've had many a session in here in the dim and distant past as I used to live just down the road, so called in during the summer as we were in the area. It was never anything special and it sure hasn't changed. The welcome was friendly enough but I felt the beer let it down. We looked at the menu - pedestrian pub grub - and decided to eat elsewhere.

Waited a while for our drinks. After 40 minutes asked where our food was. We were told the order was lost and would be another 5 minutes. The food arrived several minutes later. It was lovely but we were not offered compensation for the wait and barely an apology.

Brilliant local boozer. If we were rugby balls the local lasses would of been all over us to fulfill their desires. Brilliant pub which could tell many great stories

Visited yesterday for the first time in a few years. The food was reasonably priced and tasty, albeit a little on the warm side by the time it turned up. The service was excellent, I'd particularly like to acknowledge Eathan who was superb. He was very engaging and patient (4 children trying to order!) and explained everything about the menu when asked.
