Lovely pub up a couple of steps. Small, friendly and atmospheric It has bench seating and has a light and airy feel. Like the nearby Circus it claims to be one of the smallest pubs in Manchester. It can get busy and space is at a premium. Real ales on the hand pumps from the local Hyde's Brewery.

This is a nice place, but the selection of ciders could be improved.

Very good small Hydes pub about ten minutes walk from Manchester Piccadilly Railway Station. Four cask beers on handpump when I visited including a ruby ale. Small outside smoking area to the rear. Not too busy after the Spurs game at the Etihad!

Only had time to pop in for a quick pint but worth the effort. For an old git like me, this is a proper pub, warm welcome, friendly punters and a great atmosphere.. Good selection of beers and good prices. No food because we were getting something along the road. If you like a traditional feel to a pub this place is a must pop in destination. Enjoy

Small pub, so not too many people, which makes for a quieter experience. I had a Guinness and enjoyed listening to the locals chat. Do wish the barmaid would at least ask if you'd like a receipt after paying. Gotta keep track of those charges!

This topped up my few days spent here. The pub is full of character and the sauce was great. My friend and enjoyed the environment and shared a great time. We be back soon when in these sides again. Top spot!!

Great value pints and a very clean and tidy pub.

We popped in for a drink after a meal and had a great evening. We had cheap drinks and the footie was on. No complaints here.

Always a warm welcome when visiting this pub. One of the first pubs I visited when I moved here in 2003. On this occasion it was fairly quiet but it was late ish. The beer is always well looked after so well worth a visit if you enjoy real ale and good conversation. They accept CAMRA cards here so that reduces real ale price.👍🏻

Good little boozer on Portland Street(Manchester City centre)

Great tiny boozer with real character and charm. The barman and owner was lovely and went above and beyond for my dog. Very reasonable prices for Manchester city centre, comfy and friendly and very welcoming. Great for a woman enjoying a quick pint on her own, I felt very safe here.

I love this pub. Popped in near midnight last Friday after a bit of a local pub crawl with the Mrs. She went house white I went double kraken and coke, lovely ole job. Will return.

The woman working behind the bar is the rudest bar staff I've ever met. No personal skills whatsoever. Not very welcoming and insulted us twice.

Lovely proper pub in the heart of Manchester. I was I. Manchester for the weekend recently and went to half a dozen pubs and this was the best by far. It may be small but the staff and locals are all very friendly and most importantly it has had at least 4/5 Real Ales on every time I went in, all of which were locals and very good. Extremely well priced for the centre of the city too. By far our favourite pub in Manchester and we will be back again 🙂

Can get really busy/hot and is quite small but calming decour/atmosphere that emits plenty of history. I don't come here often so I have to 'double take' on the cost of 'my round' every time. "I did say four pints and not three didn't I? Brings a chuckle from the friendly barmen. 3.8%- ish Hydes bitter on a par with my preference for 'Robinsons Unicorn' (The Castle Hotel) and beats any lower alcohol Holts for me. They obviously keep the beer well. I should suggest this pub more often, nice change from the usual Nothern Quarter for my lot.
