Love a Gregg sausage Roll and Coffee, but the place is filthy. Every table covered in crumbs as is the floor. The toilets were disgusting.

What makes my experience today a stand out is only because of a staff by the name Coral Blackk she is a lady with sense of humour and great customer service relationship that will lifted one up from a probably bad day ,she is full of smiles and energetic with full of life that gives a brighter hope .she just stands out among all other staffs at the Greggs Culver St, Colchester.

If those already given up on life staff get any ruder I definitely won’t be surprised to read in the local that one got dragged over the counter and taught some manners finally. Scum.

The place is new just across the street from the old building, the place is very dirty all tables need a clean and the bins are overflowing, a employee of Gregg’s just walked past it all. If I was the manager of this place I would be very disappointed in the state of the place. My little boy loves Gregg’s but will not be visiting here again.

I'm the first to admit that I love a Greggs Latte and Sausage Roll, but I won't be going in this Cafe again. it's always filthy dirty, Today there were about 12 empty tables but not a single one had been cleared or wiped. It looks like the floor has not seen a broom in days let alone a mop. women's toilet out of order and disabled toilet had no soap or toilet roll. Disappointing and a shame as the pricing is always reasonable, but there's no excuse for not cleaning tables...

This place is a bit dated now, really dark and dingy I’m the seating area, needs a good clean and freshen up. Love the food but it’s alway hit and miss as to weather or not your food is hot.

the sausage roll must have been sitting i nthe heater for over 4 hours, it was so dry and crispy. however the meat inside was very flavoursome and had a good little twangof pepper to it. the steak bake is a must!

What a shame! My friend and I visited greggs this afternoon for a quick bite to eat. The transcation was pleasant nice lady behind the till. We were not asked if we wanted to eat in or takeaway but we prefer the bags instead of the trays anyway so we didn’t complain! We then walk over to a seat in the restaurant to quickly eat our food before our lessons at the local sixth form started in 10 minutes. As we found a table and began to sit down we were approached by a staff member in an unreasonable manner, extraordinarily in your face and rude. Asking if we paid to eat in. I proceeded to say that we were not asked if we were eating in or out. The staff member then walked off to find the woman who served us, bringing back the wrong woman to see if she had asked us. She then started to say that the woman did ask us , implying that we were lying .Everyone around us were appalled at the manner that we had been approached and spoken too , saying that they will not be visiting again . Considering we are students at the college, students at the college bring a huge amount of sales to this Greggs and we’ve always been shown in a negative light . Also upsetting as we very much doubt that if we were older we wouldn’t of been spoken to like this and it was purely because of our age. we’re upset to say that we will not be visiting again.

I am ashamed to be northern ! Head office needs to look into this cash cow and reflect when they say they don’t sell hot food. ! Soup Bacon rolls Coffee Tea The occasional pasty and sausage roll when you hit jack pot. The team are happy enough but never enough on. Never enough warm food on offer on a cold winters day in January I need a cold steak pasty ..... but I recon they get it all day from every customer .... we’ll do something about it then. Your bake off isn’t the right amount at times of day then is it?

Extremely busy when we visited on a Sunday morning but service was reasonably quick and the young man serving was pleasant and efficient. Unfortunately there didn't appear to be enough staff to keep the tables clear and customers were having to move used china to other empty tables before they could sit at a table and eat. Food and coffee was to Greggs usual standard, so no complaints with it. I would just like to know why customers buying food to "take out" were allowed to sit in the cafe eating and drinking? Poor management by Greggs....and the customers should be ashamed of themselves.

I prefer to eat at other Greggs stores now. The food is the same but what angers me is when the Colchester high street store charges extra for you to eat in which I am happy to pay and yet they do nothing about the cheats who blatantly order takeaway then proceed to eat their takeaway in the restaurant. It's not acceptable to charge extra to eat in if your not going to kick out the cheating takeaway buyers when they have clearly seen them sat down and eating from a paper bag and drinking from a throwaway cup!

If i could vote any lower i would. On numourous occassions iv quickly nipped into one of the 2 greggs in colchester just after 4 o'clock only to be hand a stone cold something to eat and told they cant reheat stuff. Surely if you close at 5 the hot shelves stay hot until then?

Why I don’t know, but we stopped here for a quick bite to eat. I didn’t eat, but hubby did. The place was filthy! They definitely need more staff to cope with the lazy customers that eat and leave food everywhere.

I regularly visit Greggs for lunch, sometimes breakfast too, and must compliment them on their excellent food and customer service. Definitely worth a visit for their freshly baked savouries, just a shame that it gets so busy from the stream of shoppers cutting through the cafe! Can’t really complain for their great prices, particularly their baguette deals. Toilets are usually good too.

Often call into Greggs for a mid morning coffee and Cornish pasty. Good service, good standard and selection and food and all at very reasonable prices. The only thing that lets it down is its popularity - it can get very crowded and noisy.

Nipped in for a quick lunch. Cheap - yes - but quality very poor. Pulled pork sausage roll inedible - see photo looks like it was pulled from somewhere else. Odd taste and slightly spiced. Chicken slice was like Campbell's soup. Dear oh dear. Waste of money: should have spent more for better quality. Won't go back. One thing guaranteed at Greggs - disappointment.

Nipped in on a Sunday morning at 10am for a quick sausage baguette before the shops opened, they had no sausages and no baguettes so opted for a bacon roll. The roll was nice and fresh but that's it. The staff were miserable and unhelpful, the 'restaurant' and toilets are so dirty, there was food all over the tables and seating benches, which included crisps, so not from breakfast ..... Presumably from the day before. Food all over the floors and just generally not a very nice place to eat! Disgusting.

Not my normal haunt but the person I was with wished to go to Greggs.Food not labeled with content, so you had to pick up baguettes and guess what was in them. Food not priced. Asked for a Peppermint Tea and was told we are not a café we are greggs and we do not serve Peppermint Tea. Staff were friendly, Baguette was actually very nice and I had a Hot Chocolate that was also good. My big problem was the floor. It was 2pm and floor was littered with food and bits of paper. Whilst we were sitting eating a young man started his shift and said the floor is always bad when I come in, the first thing I like to do is wipe tables and brush the floor. He did a very good job but it should never have been allowed to get in the state it was in the first place. r

We tried 3 other places, but they were all full ! but as we had a hospital appt in an hour this was the better option, rather than the Golden Arches !! We had a chicken salad sandwich , a chicken and bacon baguette , a doughnut and 2 drinks. All for under £10. Great price, not bad food, but need more staff as when you have a closer look, it really needs a good clean , front of house.

This is a nice place to sit and have a coffee and a pasty. Sadly this time we got our timing wrong and it was wall to wall screaming kids. The service from the ladies was as always done with a smile and the food was as want you would expect from a Greggs. All in all it would have been great except for those pesky kids

We stop by here every week whilst shopping in Colchester, Agreed it's not the smartest place in town but over the years have started a rapport with the staff and can always have a friendly banter with them. There are loud customers but there are also quite ones but it's not the savoy and caters for all comers and sometimes gets a bit overpowering when every body starts trying to talk over the loud person at the next table.Perhaps if the music was turned down a bit the loud people might not talk as loud.Thank goodness that the new "Designer" hasn't got their hands on this one as I hate to think of it with less space and no plates to eat on as seems to be the company trend. (Along with I suppose less staff)

I'd love to see an advertisement for staff for this place because I reckon one of the prerequisite is 'must be miserable at all times'. I appreciate the staff aren't on a huge wage and that some customers can be a handful but come on, please could you all just cheer up a bit!

Went here for dinner Friday, in the middle of an industrial area, I think I was expecting something a little more upmarket than what it was, but it was nice. Big restaurants are difficult to create ambiance, and it was surprisingly not that busy for a Friday 2 weeks before Christmas. I think I was expecting, busy, festive, music and a party feel, it was the opposite to that, quiet, low key, quiet dining. Not 5 star but the food was again nice, a little on the pricey side for what it was and portions could have been a little more generous on the shared nibbles and chips but tasty enough and did it's job. Staff are polite and friendly.

Lovely staff, very polite and helpful, but wrong meal arrived, my husband had finished his by the time the correct meal arrived. The hot meal was served on a cold plate and the food was not thoroughly heated. Not an enjoyable meal or experience. We were offered 1 x complimentary drink to compensate. :(
