Great food, however I’ve been here a few times now and the staff are so rude in comparison to the staff in the store. Such a shame because the food is really good especially the kids summer food deal.

We decided to pop into Asda Cafe for a full breakfast while our car was being washed and thought perhaps it would be a nice change. After a slow service by the chef, who was chatting more to the person making the coffees than actually doing the breakfasts, there was 4 others before us and 3 people after us in queue. The entire experience took nearly 10 minutes to serve our breakfast, minus the black puddings, which she replied oops she forgot, then remarked to the gentleman behind us in the queue that he could not have any black pudding now as we took the last two pieces, which he remarked can you not just cook them, to which she replied we only make a certain number a day or else we get too much wastages 😳 that’s not really information a customer does not want to hear from a chef. When we went to get a coffee to go with breakfast, I asked for a white coffee which the girl behind the till looked dazed as if she had not heard of white coffee in her life, as she remarked we only sell lattes, cappuccinos or Americano, so do I want a latte 😳 which I replied I would like a white coffee, a normal white coffee and then got told we do not sell white coffee, so I remarked can I can an americano with milk 😳, do which she replied I had to put my own milk in from a thermos jug at the end of the counter near the cutlery. All the time giving me the most unwelcoming tone in her voice. Terrible customer service. As for the food, the black pudding was cooked, but certainly not at the time the breakfast was made as it was rubbery, never known that after nearly 50 years of eating black pudding, the sausages were luke warm and the eggs served over ease ended up looking like two omelettes on the plate. Beans, hash browns and bacon were nice, nothing special and as for half of the smallest tomato I have ever seen, it was a source of amusement at our table. The portion size was okay, but at £6.40 for a full breakfast, you can get Better service, presentation and customer service at any of cafes in the area, especially as you have costa, subway and McDonalds in the retail park. Coffee was nice once I added my own milk, but I think we will be going to costa instead while we get our car cleaned in future.

Decided to grab a bite for lunch as our little 1 was getting hungry. Wish I hadn't bothered, no decent amount of filling in paninis, fries tasted like cooked in oil at least a week old, then sat for 20 mins. High chairs sticky and dirty. Cutlery dirty. Bench seats all ripping. Never again 1 star because I have to.

Decided to pop in Asda cafe for a light snack before a hospital appt. Oh dear.....big mistake. After looking around a coffee and wrapped cake seemed a safer option. But even that was unsatisfactory - cups dirty and coffee not hot. Staff unhelpful and bad attitude. We proceeded to milk and cutlery section.... shouldn’t milk be kept cold?? Not in a dirty plastic jug left out till empty. The tell tale signs of our big mistake of not going Costa ( or anywhere else) were crystal clear and we looked for a table. We wanted a table without dirty crockery on it, or food on seats, possibly a table that had seen a cloth wiped over on that day. No luck ! . We pushed the dirty crockery over to one side of our table, drank our awful coffee, ate the cake, added our dirty cups to the pile on our table and vailed never to return. 2 big mistakes I made- deciding to eat there and then not taking photos to add to my review to warn other customers why somewhere else would be a much better option.

Pleasant service, and cheap food, the breakfast is not the best, but all edible. The sausages and bacon are oven cooked, so low in fat but sadly low in taste. Eggs and toast are cooked to order, so they’re fresh. A nine item breakfast, toast and a drink was about £6.50

How can this place still trade ? I can appreciate the cafe isn’t owned by Asda it’s run by an external company to pay for the Asda space and name. Yet the store manager most get a nice little back hander to allow this pig swill to leave the kitchen and be dollop on plates to be served to any Colchester resident . If not I change him to eat in there. But let someone else a member of the public order fir him.... toilets not so good. All team look like they have been told there aunt has died ! The store also isn’t the best. Always busy but shelf’s and freezers always empty broke section managers who don’t care lots of people saying “I apologise” no substance ! What an embarrassment !

This was my first and probably the last time I will eat at an ASDA cafe. I have been a fan of Morrisons Little Breakfast for years now, so assumed that the ASDA equivalent would be good - sadly not. What can I say: the bacon was stone cold, the sausages were of poor quality whilst the chips were nothing like chips should be, as they were anaemic and stody. Morrisons is altogether better, and better value too, so all in all the ASDA Cafe experience was very poor.

While you line up you get given your order and then carry on waiting with your food as company slowly getting colder and colder. To then get to a till that doesn’t accept Apple Pay or any contactless payments because it makes the till freeze and has done for a while apparently. Yet no signs of warning. So was then sent out to my car to receive my card (planned to use my phone) and by the time I had returned my breakfast was left on the side, toast had been stolen, no replacements were offered for my cold breakfast or stolen toast. If Asda supplies the food you cook then people should be wary of shopping in Asda, absolutely dreadful!

We decided to give this cafe another try after being unimpressed on our last visit. Oh my! I wish we hadn't! We decided against ordering a fry-up, firstly because customers can not see the food being dished up as it is behind black screening and what we did see after being dished up looked so unappetising, it was just slopped on to the plate with a fried egg dolloped upside down on top of it. The bacon and sausages looked under cooked and you could not have fried bread...a Full English brekkie without fried bread??? Come on Asda, get a grip! We ordered one toasted sandwich which the woman serving placed on a board that looked far from clean, when asked by my daughter what it was on the board that she had placed the sandwich on the woman said "Only bread"....since when has bread been yellow and why did she turn the board around immediately after my daughter had questioned this?!? The sandwich was tasteless, very poor quality ham and tasteless cheese. Cappucino was also poor, one of the worse ones we've ever tasted and far too much froth on the top. Tables were littered with dirty used dishes on trays and no attempt being made to clear them. The staff are miserable and look as if they really couldn't care less whether they serve you or not. This cafe has gone even further down hill, we definitely won't be going back and I am surprised that they get any customers.

Called in for breakfast, they offer a number of options eg six item, nine item, each with the normal items, bacon, sausage, eggs, beans etc. The food is edible but not the best quality, for example the sausages must be amongst the cheapest available, the bacon ok but cooked in an oven so two rashers had become moulder together. Food and drink is ordered at the counter cafeteria style, then help yourself to cutlery and find a table. It was alright for the money, about £5 for 9 items, ok as I was in Asda anyway, but I wouldn’t travel here specifically for the restaurant.

Spectacularly rude staff, pointedly ignoring me - I was going to say in the queue, but I was the only person waiting - just some eye contact would have helped if the woman behind the counter couldn't be bothered to speak. Although the other woman, at the till, was swearing copiously so perhaps I should have been grateful. Food just tipped on to the plate (couldn't have Instagrammed!), plate just flung on to my tray. For pity's sake, get some customer training in this store - it's a flipping disgrace. Oh, and the freezers were defrosting all over the floor - or as the till-woman said "they're f***ing weeing themselves" - ye gods.

The staff dont seem to give a damn , but looking at the main store itself you can see the same attitude throughout the shop , I have never seen a supermarket with the stock in such a state of chaos! the aisles are a shambles , empty boxes and gaps everywhere on the shelves and the price tickets seem like a work of fiction in places. anyway the cafe is to be avoided unless you are absolutely desperate. The food was nice and the value was great but the service was pretty slow. There was a queue which was moving very slowly then just as we'd got to the till, a woman of an Indian decent came to the till and asked the cashier for a portion of chips. The cashier called out to the cook for small chips and proceeded to take her money. I asked the cashier why did we have to queue if she could just walk straight to the front but was ignored, so I said to the woman 'Excuse me there is a queue' she replied saying 'Just chips, just chips' I told her it didn't matter what she was ordering, we had all had to queue and so should she. During this conversation the cashier gave her her chips and took her money. I expressed my anger to the cashier and was told that the woman did not understand English. Rubbish! She should not have let her get her way. The woman knew exactly what she was doing and the cashier let her because she didn't want a scene.Totally unacceptable

This Asda is on the outskirts of Colchester, near the railway station. It is a large store with a small cafe. They do offer a varied menu, from "healthy" dishes, to the usual jacket potatoes or cooked breakfast. The food is typical supermarket food, the majority being kept "warm" under heaters, however this can be busy therefore it may not sit around for too long. The staff are always friendly, however the cafe itself always needs a good clean. Its only small and has a very squashed layout. I've visited a few times, however I will not go here again unless it is extended and modernised.

We travel lots up and down the country and are faithful regular visitors to the Asda cafe. In the main Asda cafe's are what they are, cheap hot food. Sadly, this is the worst experience I have had. The lady was serving other people behind us in the que before us. Then when we ordered, it was a minimal amount of wam ish food Jacket potato with cottage cheese and beans. You really had to look hard for the cottage cheese. The jacket was not hot, infact it was just about warm. Same for the beans. The salad garnish was dried up shrivel. One knife and two forks in the cutlery section. I would understand if it was a really busy full cafe, but it wasn't. If u read my other reviews, I always try to remain or see the positive , sadly in this case there aren't any. Such a let down Asda.

It was mainly empty but we struggled to find anywhere to sit as so many tables had dirty plates etc on them. The food was most uninspiring, overcooked maybe. The beans were awful, I suspect a very cheap brand? Just under a tenner for two breakfasts, no drinks. Compared to a cheaper, far superior breakfast, with unlimited coffee, at a Wetherspoons the next day. Poor quality and no value for money.

Decided to have lunch after shopping and before a hospital appointment.....I wish we hadn't. The pie crust was burnt black on the edge, meat was tough and the chips were overcooked, the only things reasonably edible were the peas and gravy. There were no forks in the cutlery tray and after asking for some we had to wait approximately 4/5 minutes for them to appear by which time our meal was cool. When the member of staff did appear with them she was still wiping them and had only brought out four...not much help when there were already three people waiting for them and each person needing two forks, For some unknown reason the display cabinets in which the hot food is served from are now not visible to the public - the fronts of the cabinets have an opaque covering, I wonder why? Maybe the customers should use this as a warning about the food they are going to be served? We definitely will not be returning.

The food was amazing and with one person in our party being gluten intolerant they went above and beyond to accommodate her dietary requirements. The waiter we had was so attentive with a refreshing sense of humour. We will definitely come back again! The only negative I can say is that we were one of two tables so the atmosphere was subdued but the food and especially the service was outstanding.

Spa day for Mothers' day. Lucky that the beauty therapists were so good because it saved the day. Pool area looked very good but the aromatherapy room had nothing of aromatherapy about it and the pool itself was icy. The relazing pool was also too cold to sit in but the jacuzzi was warm: unfortunately the bubbles were absolutely violent and because so much chlorine had been used in the water, it was spat in your eyes and we had to get out, eyes streaming. So we went to get our afternoon tea: what a disappointment! When we got to the café area we were left waiting for quite some time with no one to seat us. The room was in a mess: tables covered with detritus. They only managed to clear up by getting a beauty therapist to come and clear the tables! We settled in for tea.5 minutes later we had eaten it! We each had the equivalent of 2 slices of bread cut into 4 little sandwiches. Only 2 fillings: cheese and tomato and egg mayonnaise. Usually if you go out for afternoon tea you have double this amount and are then offered more. At Ballentynes you had a couple of mouthfuls and when we asked for more were told we would have to pay for them! The one scone each was actually very nice but the cake selection was dismal, with a small piece of chocolate cake that we had to cut to share ourselves and another that looked so amateurish that neither of us wished to sample it. Absolutely nothing special about this "special Mothers' Day" event. As is often the case in hospitality the management is trying to increase the profit margin by cutting back on the quality of the offer once payment has been taken and cutting back on staff so that staff, who were, I should add, all very pleasant, are rushing around and unable to provide the expected level of service. The place is definitely not meeting it's potential. We will not be visiting again.

Excellent pub with fine selection of real ale. We received a warm welcome and were served quickly and professionally with our drinks. On a whim we decided to have lunch which was superb: I enjoyed the home made mince and onion pie in suet pastry with beautifully cooked vegetables, and my husband enjoyed the Vegetable and Quorn curry. The pub had a good crowd of regulars which made for a happy and community atmosphere. The pub is old style- just as we like it; spotlessly clean and traditional in all regards. Highly recommend this pub and look forward to visiting again when next in Bures.
