Very disappointed, you'd expect the windows to be pristine in a restaurant but they were disgusting all the time we were there. Menu does not change! Anyone staying more than a couple of days will go elsewhere. Very expensive food, waited an hour for a steak that was tiny and tough for £ 26 . No vegetables served with it just a sauce and chips. Fish and chips £14.95 - they were okay but not worth the price, there's a great chippy around the corner! Menu was boring and expensive. Coach passengers received a far better menu than we did, a roast dinner. I feel every restaurant should offer a nice roast dinner on the menu. Breakfast was okay, BUT the old fashioned toaster was extremely slow, it took 3-4 minutes to very lightly toast one side of the bread, it needed to be put through a second time however someone else has put bread in so we couldn't make a decent slice of toast on the mornings we were there. Why not invest in a couple of 4 slice toasters to make it easier for everyone? Teas and coffees were outside the dining room so you had to go and get your own, it would be nice if staff brought refills around. The coffee seemed watered down to me, very poor. I could not in all honesty recommend this restaurant. Long wait for food, coaches got priority.

We booked for a large party for Sunday lunch. The Greenhouse Restaurant is decorated beautifully and the table settings looked very nice, and we felt it was a nice change from going to a well known local Hotel. The meal, however, let the whole experience down. There was a limited menu. The potatoes and vegetables were hot but there were limited vegetables, the meat was under-cooked and the gravy was of a watery consistence. The desserts were very small portions and disappointing. I would not book again unfortunately.

We were staying in the hotel and intended to eat here every night but were taken aback by the cost - mains around £19! The menu was also rather limited - and did not change in the 5 days we were there - nor were there any daily specials. However - when I requested potatoes instead of polenta this was done willingly at no extra cost. Also, both the steak and lamb we ordered were well-cooked and very enjoyable and the service also was good.

We had three courses which were all equally delicious. The lamb was the best we have ever tasted. We will definitely be going again.

Breakfast was good. Not average or very good but good. The cold buffet was made up of ceral, tinned fruit, pastries, juices and toast with jams/honey/marmalade and all on a help yourself basis. Tea and coffee is served at your table and the hot buffet contains quality ingredients of eggs (poached, fried, scrambled) bacon, sausages, hash browns, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms and black pudding. My only criticism is that the food items were served, so it felt a little like a school dinner line, and the containers were unable to keep it warm. In fact the lighter food items (eggs, bacon etc) was quite often cold. I am also not a fan of the toaster machine where you drop the bread onto the runner and after a long, long, long wait a slice of underdone on one side and barely toasted on the other drops out and the quandry is then to either drop it back in and hope it doesn't burn or take the anaemic slice back to the table only for it to sit on it's plate to sweat and get soggy. The staff are a credit as I saw them engage readily with the passengers from a coach party and looked after them very well indeed

If this is 3star hygiene who gets 5star??? Staff so helpful to a disabled vegetarian and fussy eater wife. We found a real choice on the menu and everything spotless. Meal served in good time, well presented and most agreeably cooked. Never rushed and made sure we really did have all we wanted. It will be hard to better this! in short- full marks.

The food was piping hot and served in a piping hot bowl. The portion was huge and I enjoyed it. Service was good and the decor is reasonably pleasant - not perfect but not tatty, not modern but not dated either! I only had a main course but felt it was a little on the expensive side for what it was. I guess my thoughts are this: that if you are staying in the hotel then it is a perfectly nice and comfortable place to eat. However, I am not sure it would be somewhere that I would have as my first choice as somewhere to especially go out to for a meal. I suppose the question is, if I was staying there again would I be happy to eat there, and yes - I would. With respect to breakfast - it ranks highly amongst my experienced hotel breakfasts with a good choice and variety of options.

went for food here , The table still had splashes of food from earlier eaters , prices were high and food servings were very small . The waiter and waitress were having a very loud conversation about the very bad lighting that keeps blowing the in the building that i thought was not very good advertising considering its a hotel . wouldn't rush back

I try to be fair about all the places I go to. I realize that people have bad days and sometimes things just don't go well BUT........this restaurant is definitely from the days of yore. When I came to the UK as a child everyone spoke of how bad the food was and apparently this hotel has not heard that The United Kingdom has changed and people now expect.....good food. I mean how hard is it to serve good roast beef and yorkshire pudding. I would think it would be a pretty easy being a British specialty. We came for sunday brunch and my Welsh family was very excited to show me a nice time. When we arrived the dining room was quite empty (not a good sign I thought). We were seated and then nothing happened. It was like they forgot we were there. When we did finally order it took forever for the food to come. Of course no one wanted to complain and ruin the day. The roast beef arrived and it was a colour of gray that I have not encountered in a long time. In fact I don't think I knew you could get beef to that colour of overdone. It was floating in a pool of gravy with grease and fat floating on top of it. It was the worst thing I have ever forced myself to eat but I did not want to insult my lovely relatives. My cousin's fish was overdone. My 80 year old aunt finally got up to get some horseradish because after 5 minutes they did not seem to be coming back. The veggies were brought large dishes and placed upon the table. The cheese sauce on the cauliflower was missing cheese....horrible. The service staff seemed to be hiding most of the time. One of the orders were wrong but because the staff never came back to check my other cousin simply ate what she had not ordered. I think they were embarrassed about the food and probably incredulous that we were eating what the chef called food. The restaurant itself had the loveliest view but the windows were dirty and the the restaurant itself desperately needs a clean up and a design refresh. It was way over due on the refurbishment date. Essentially I felt dirty sitting in that dining room and embarrassed for my family who wanted to give me a treat. Truly this was one of the worst dining experiences of my life. Besides the view there is nothing I can say that is positive. Just do not WASTE you money going there.

I stayed at the hotel so used the restaurant daily. The breakfast choice was excellent and hot food freshly cooked. The dinner was a limited menu as we were part of a coach party. The service varied - our last evening we waited 20 minutes as the rolls weren't ready! The food was average and some courses were too salty for me. I wouldn't choose to eat here as the menu looked expensive.

Neither the service or quality have improved at all since my last visit. Staff had to be chased to order drinks. Bread and Olives were ordered for the table, and a plate of cheap sliced white and brown bread was presented to us - basic white and brown sliced loaf. The starters were poor, with the chicken and fish in the salads being freezing cold, I suspect they'd been brought straight out of the fridge. The three cheese stuffed chicken was medicre, and the sauce splashed over it was so reminiscent of creme of tomato soup I'm reasonably sure that's exactly what it was. Tip for the chef - get off the high horse, drop the pretentious menu and serve good honest food. There's plenty of stunning local produce that could be done simply and done well rather than trying to cook food at a level above the skill of the kitchen staff. The decor is still very much like that of a 1970s dinner dance, and the location of the pool is still bothersome as you can see bathers while you eat and smell the pool in the bar. The bar area is typical for this style of hotel and the bar manager is friendly enough but the rest of the staff are just kids with no experience and no backup. As they have no idea what good looks like they have nothing to base their service on.

Went here for a family meal, and it started well in the bar with some nice G&Ts, but my doubts started when the waiter popped open the screw top bottle of wine (I agree that screwtops are the way to go, this comment isn't about that) what confused me was he then offered a taste of the wine. It's not going to be corked now is it?We were given some lovely olives and copies of the menu while we waited for our table. These were just black and white A4 prints, I don't think it'd would be too much trouble for them to get some holders for these and print them on some heavier weight paper. The smell of the pool is a little off putting, as is the fact that you can see the pool from the restaurant, not something you really want to see and I think they should close the blinds for dinner, and would probably have done if we'd asked but as we didn't I'm not going to be too critical on that. The starters were a mixed bag, the prawns were lovely but the cured salmon was way too salty. The mains again were a bit mixed, the risotto was lovely but was a huge portion while the chicken was tiny and the pesto didn't really taste of anything. Overall the theme for the night seemed to be salt, everything was very salty. Desert was the best part. The panacotta was lovely, the syllabub was nice but needed more fruit and the bara brith went down well. The service is variable, and the staff (aside from the ever present and very nice Sam) are very young and don't seem to have been working here long. They struggled with a few requests such as what type of sparkling water do you have. The hotel, being a Best Western, is probably on a lot of large companies' approved hotels list so there are always a lot of tradespeople here. While they're normally quiet, on this occasion there was a large (10-12) party from one company who were quite loud. This isn't a comment on the hotel per se, just on the usual guests you can expect. The staff did their best to get us seated and served before them to their credit.Overall, as there's not a lot of choice of large hotels in the area our guests will probably stay here again but I'd be looking for a different place to eat as the service and menu is better at the local Beefeaters

We had a late lunch in the bar/lounge area and it was very good and nice quiet atmosphere. My only bad point would be there were 1 brown mark on each of the serviette, which could be an issue as to what has touch the serviette before it was given to us. But all in all a good experience.

First impression: very dated 70s exterior in need of a facelift. Beautiful view of Port Talbot industries! It gets better when you go inside. Welcoming reception staff. Room adequate with view of beach. Bar staff very helpful and jovial. Breakfast staff not so welcoming but breakfast itself very good. Breakfast finishes at 9.30; came down at 9.25 and made to feel as though we had committed a heinous sin. Waitress hovered over us and waited for order in silence! Had bar meal in the evening when there was no-one in the restaurant. No problem. On the last night 8 people entered the restaurant and we had to wait for 40 minutes to get some food! They couldn't cope!

I ate in the Restaurant and had a fabulous meal, the waitress was attentive and pleasant and the decor in the restaurant was superb. Don't judge a book by its cover !! The hotel is undergoing some refurbishment and the restaurant has clearly had work done, the reception and foyer also look great. I would certainly visit again. The views across Swansea bay on a good day I would imagine could be fantastic.

Bit of a captive audiance as it was January, nothing else was open and it was snowing badly. Had steak in Chabatta with mozzerella and pesto with chips. Steak sliced and divided in two seperate chabatta rolls and the cheese wasn't melted so I was left with a lump of mozzerella in both rolls. Plentiful but not exactly great.

Stayed here overnight on business. £70 for a double room for one including full breakfast. The hotel resides in a rather grim area - as I arrived local urchins were attempting to scale the fences that surround the car park and the outside of the hotel was looking a little tired. However things improved with a pleasant greeting from the receptionist and the smart surroundings of the ground floor bar and restaurant. I was roomed on the 2nd floor. I wondered if there had been some flood damage due to quite a bit of staining on the corridor carpets.Bedroom was quite large but again, overdue a bit of TLC.... however, the bathroom was in much better nick and looked as though it had been fairly recently refurbished.I had dinner in the restaurant (mainly because I saw few alternatives on my drive to the hotel).Food was OK but nothing special considering the prices. Cheapest non-veggie main was £15.50 - steep on my very limited expenses allowance. I had a very average smoked chicken salad starter (£4.75) and a much better rib-eye steak main (£16.50).Portions not huge.Nice big telly in the room, usual coffees and teas and a good night's sleep so no complaints there.Breakfast was good. Excellent buffet continental selection and so-so fully cooked. Waiters pleasant and not overly attentive as is sometimes the case.In conclusion this place did the job but that's all.

Went for the first time on 4th October to a great business networking event - Swansea Women's Soiree. I had Cream of Cauliflower Soup Topped with Crispy Leeks and Black Pepper Croutons -which was so tasty I didn't want it to end and the crispy leeks were georgous. For mains I tried the vegetarian option of Roasted Aubergine With Spiced Lentils and Chick Peas - which i have to say was beautifully presented and delicious. To finish a generous selection of Welsh cheeses served with biscuits. Generous portions; food full of flavour and beautiful presentation.

I went there recently, and had a fantastic well balanced 'simple', "club sandwich". It was not your average bear; but nuanced, hearty, and reasonably priced! The fries/pomme frites were light, the side salad fresh and delicately flavoured with balsamic vinegar, and the main man - the sandwich - was simply delicious, well made, chunky chicken, and very well cooked/flavoured ingredients! So good, I had their minute-steak sandwich three days letter - with herby pesto, and a tender, slightly charred beef on ciabata bread that was just yum.Others dishes looked just as good, hearty, and extremely well prepared.A charming warm environment, quiet, extremely relaxing too!
