We went for an evening meal on a Saturday night. The bar downstairs was busy as there was live music. We were offered the choice of where to eat and plumped for the upstairs restaurant. The owners served us. We had the Pate for starters, a 10oz ribeye steak with a red wine and stilton sauce, Dauphinois potatoes and vegetables. We followed this up by sharing a piece of delicious cheesecake. The service we received was absolutely excellent as was the food. It was all beautifully cooked and presented and very very tasty. The meal wasn't cheap by any means but the price reflected the quality. The restaurant is quite sizeable and very well decorated in a modern but rustic way using a lot of reclaimed materials, if that makes sense. If you find yourself in need of a tasty meal in relaxing surroundings take a trip to Crynant near Neath and give this place a go.

Such a beautiful pub with AMAZING views, the owners was so lovely and welcoming. Let our little girl play with the chickens and put them away also for our dogs. Cant wait to come back to Wales and when we do we will 100% be coming to the Gradon. Prices's was great couldn't believe the price difference from where we live. Would recommend everyone to come here.

Avoid Avoid Avoid.. honestly I have no words for this pub... I booked in advance I was told it was going to be very busy. When we got there there was no one downstairs in the pub and two large tables upstairs. We sat down and were given the menu, the prices were not the same as on the website sadly. We order starter which was lovely which made us excited for the main meal. We then waited 40 mintues for the main meal whereby we both had steaks, honestly for the price it was not worth it they were so small and there was totally no taste and the chips were cold and dry very disappointing. We then ordered dessert and waited 40 minutes at this point I asked the manager how long it was going to be as we waited 40 mintues the manager totally shouted at me and stated can't you see we are busy but there was only two other tables there was no sorry it was just shouting I asked if I could cancel the dessert to I was told no and it was coming, I then waited another 10 mintues before it arrived. As it arrived the manager came again with poor attitude and stated your bill I will explain to you however I had not even been given a spoon to eat my dessert the manager was so rude and I have never been spoken to or treated like this in a pub so I would say Avoid. It was high in price for the quality of food and the appalling service from the manager.

Beautiful building. Very cosy and special. You don't see well-thought-out traditional style pubs like this very often these days. Reasonably priced drinks. Very good homemade food. Real log fire. Just a shame about the early closing time. Will definitely be back. A local gem!

Staying locally on holiday we went to the Gradon two nights consecutively. Firstly the service is immaculate, in particular from Nicola who was on the ball with every detail. The food is very decent and varied with a 'Meal and a Drink' option offering excellent value at about £14-15; that makes the meal less than a tenner! The steak & ale pie is delicious and the chicken curry is wonderful. Fabulous choice of drinks, especially the full Thatcher's cider range on draught. Desserts are fantastic with a variety of sponges with either custard or ice cream. First night we had in total four drinks (two large wines / two pints), two main courses and two desserts, all for under £25 a head. That's exceptional for the quality that was delivered. Don't miss out if you're in the area.

We booked this place for a family birthday Sunday lunch after looking at their website. We booked over the phone for 11 of us and travelled the 16 miles from Swansea. When the waitress handed us the menus we were shocked to see that the prices had jumped from the website prices of 12.95 to £17.95 per adult and from £7.95 to 9.95 per child. £5 increase for adults and £2 for children. When we asked the manager she said that the website prices were old old prices. We told her that we weren't told this when we phoned to make the booking, her reply was 'we don't tell people'. After explaining how far we had travelled and that we couldn't afford those prices she said she would take £2 off each adult. We simply couldn't afford to pay what they were asking and left. Very disappointed by their false advertising, be aware before you book this place

I have to give full credit to The Gradon. My sister and I called for Sunday lunch on the way to visit my mum in Abercrave. We chose the Lamb Dinner as it said 'local'. But before that I had the garlic mushroom starter, which was so tasty and flavoured, quite different to garlic mushrooms I normally have elsewhere. Sister really appreciated the prawn salad sauce being served separately. The dinners were fantastic with massive proper yorkshires, an obviously home-cookied roastie, and gravy off the serving plate dripped on with no airs or graces. The meat was beautiful. The vegetable selection was more than plentiful for two and a gravy boat on top. The young staff, three on duty were really attentive and were taking going around everyone seeing to their needs in their stride. They were so friendly and nothing was any trouble. There is an air of 'no rushing' about things, which was absolutely no flaw for us, but just be aware it isn't a slam-bang affair, the pace and atmosphere is very relaxed and chilled so if that's what you're looking for, you won't go wrong here. I want to come back and have the normal menu, I felt so well looked after and served high quality food.

Staff were lovely, the atmosphere is great and food was tasty. Portions are great as well. Only negative for me was the lack of veg with my meal. Had not visited the Gradon for a decade and had forgotten what a lovely spacious setting the upstairs restaurant was. We booked a family table for 12, the staff were very helpful and both the dinner and afters were top notch. We have done a few Sunday buffets recently and whilst these are usually cheaper, the quality here far surpassed them. There was a generous serving of your meat of choice and all the veg was freshly cooked to perfection, with an ample amount provided to the table. The cauliflower cheese was a particular treat and the gravy was fantastic. I was paying which usually gives me little indigestion, but on this occasion, I complimented myself on a good choice of venue. It won't be another 10 years before our return.

Although welcome dogs, it did not feel welcoming. Had to sit in the bar area & listen to fowl language from loud locals who made us feel very uncomfortable. Table mats were sticky, had to ask for clean mat. Cutlery was a fork, had to ask for a knife. Gin & tonic was presented in a half pint glass, no ice or lemon. The lasagne looked like a pile of vomit with the side salad being a couple of leaves with large tomatoes. I am Welsh & my partner English, the locals made me feel feel uncomfortable, he felt intimidated, they made us both feel we were in their local pub & shouldn’t be there. Would not recommend this place at all.

Saturday evening and only two tables taken, not a good sign, the waitress was pleasant enough, ordered a rump steak medium rare with a stilton sauce, in fairness the steak was cooked as ordered, the stilton sauce had the appearance and consistency of warm milk, the last thing I would expect in a restaurant would be oven chips and onion rings, but that's what we were served, needless to say we won't be returning or recommending.

The golf range is a fantastic facility for the area. Unfortunately it looks a mess. The driveway approach is adjacent to the golf range. The netting is falling down, full of holes and patches & looks appalling. The whole track is overgrown. Once inside the car park, you are faced with the scruffiest marquee... Which I'm sure was once white but is now green. There are weeds everywhere and ashtrays overflowing with fag butts. The decking area's out on the golf range are full of holes and dangerous. The whole area looks unkempt and uninviting. The restaurant area is decent and clean. The staff are well mannered and competent. Overall... The facility, whilst busy, needs money spending on it. To be honest, it is an eyesore.
