Room is very spacious everything is neatly ready for when you enter for the first time. The reception staff are absolutely brilliant I had a issue today checking in was meant to check in for 2 people but online only booked for 1 person but the reception staff sorted the issue out straight away fair play this hotel is stunning for its age. As being located in the town centre it’s perfect for shops/restaurants everything you need is on your door step!

We had a family gathering here we had travelled from London, for a very special event, so it was nice to have somewhere to meet up and all have a drink together. Zack the Barman was absolutely brilliant and he ran the bar from 4pm till close on his own and it was a busy night. He was so efficient and attentive, and did everything with a smile and threw in some jokes, great service and we actually spent more and stayed in the bar because of his great service and personality. Thank you Zack. For this reason I would highly recommend this Bar for a drink.

Spent a night here for mine and my wife's 3rd anniversary. We were staying in the Richard Burton sweet and we couldn't believe how lush the room was when we arrived. It was perfect.

There as a party of 4 for a Sunday dinner to celebrate parents anniversary. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed a two course meal. Both parents have had issues with appetites, but did well and said how tasty the meal was. Excellent value for money. Will definitely go again and recommend. Excellent service.

We called in for a late lunch. What a lovely place! Great atmosphere and beautifully furnished and devorated. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. Will definitely be calling again. My 16yr old daughter loved the choice of music playing in the background, which was not too loud. Diolch yn fawr.

This hotel was the location of the inagural meeting of the Welsh Rugby Union in 1880 who I am sure had a better experience than my party. A lot of money spent on refurbishment but the bar were not able to provide a glass of martini, a dry sherry, neither of which are evceptional requests and there is just 1 draught beer on offer. Sunday roast was served leaving lots of space for the vegetables, sadly just carrots and peas, cannot get more basic than that, the peas were served on the table in a glass pyrex bowl, (probably dates back to 1880) which appeared to have been used to microwave the peas in the kitchen. Lots of choice for desert as long as you like it staright out of a Sara Lee box! Service indifferent, all managment, staff and chefs need urgent training.

Sunday lunch for ten, table was ready 20 minutes after booking time. Food was preordered so the staff knew what to deliver to guests but forgot bread rolls for soups. Wine was ordered and dumped at end of table ,the staff should at least offer to pour first glass. Actual mains was very mediocre, boiled potatoes were over cooked, half a roast parsnip was on your plate with one roast potato, carrots and peas brought in dishes with gravy boats. Not much choice of veg it wouldn’t cost much more to offer swede or cabbage as well ,dessert was nice but nothing special. As I say mediocre at best, staff were pleasant but not attentive. I would have expected better from such a good venue that has recently been refurbished. Bettter Sunday lunch in most pubs .

Attended the Castle Hotel Restaurant in a group of eight. After being seated at our table (which had been prepped. for six, despite our booking) we were left to our own devices. Normally, this would be lovely, as it gives you a chance to chat/relax/browse the menu except in this instance we were not given any menus. After a few minutes of sitting there, staring longingly into each other's faces, we called a waitress over and asked for the menu, which she eventually provided. No one really seemed interested in making any money out of our group during our visit; no one came to take a drinks order (we flagged down a lost looking waitress, who took the order but forgot some items), no one came to take our food order either (called over someone who looked like he may be the maitre d, who then called the drinks waitress from 'Out the back'). The waitress forgot water for the table, which was requested. One of our group went to the bar and was given water. No one brought glasses, so we had to back to the bar to collect some. The food, which did not take long to arrive, was very good. Excellent, in fact. There was one, ever so slight, glitch: two of the group ordered tagliatelle with a blue cheese sauce. When the meals arrived, they were tagliatelle but not with blue cheese; they were with a sort-of tomato ragu. When highlighted to the staff, they were confused as this meal option wasn't even available on the menu! No one came to check if the food was good, no one came to take any further drinks orders, no one came to offer the bill. If the hilariously bad service could be improved, this would be a good restaurant. As it is, I'd avoid it at all costs, unless you like the idea of meal roulette.

Plenty of choice on a fairly standard buffet style breakfast, a bit old fashioned but nevertheless tasty. Coffee was filter coffee which again is OK but people want different types of coffee these days; i.e. Flat white, Latte etc Service was efficient and pleasant as was the seating and general up keep of the restaurant very nicely decorated.

I had lunch here recently whilst visiting Neath Food Festival. I had not booked a table and although the restaurant had lots of reserved tables, a table was found. Service was prompt and efficient. I have had lunch here a few times. The food is decent, home cooked fayre: nothing fancy and prices reflect this. This place is popular with the "retired brigade" at lunchtime.

Our first visit to the Castle Hotel, Neath (Wednesday 18th September) was very enjoyable. We had traditional dinners, my wife had beef and I had pork. The beef was delicious (I tried some) and the pork was very nice; with the usual selection of vegetables & potatoes. Service was not terrific, we had to wait a half-hour after giving our order but the restaurant was very busy with one party of 20 guests who were served just ahead of us, things would have been quicker if we had arrived earlier. We also had desserts and coffees (I had chocolate rumpy pumpy which probably knocked a couple of days off my life expectancy but it really was delicious). The staff were hard working and very accommodating and were very apologetic about the delay.

Sorry, I have just written this under The Castle Hotel as I wasn't offered this restaurant when I searched! We were visiting the Gwyn Hall one Saturday evening so needed a quick meal but really didn't want fast food. The staff assured us that we could be in, eat and out in plenty of time, so we were seated at a table in an airy, pleasantly decorated restaurant and attended to promptly. Our meals were both excellent quality and very enjoyable. We will be back!

Great traditional pub. Very well run by the landlord. Great atmosphere with a good pint. Live music on a Saturday. My favourite drinking hole.
