Green Olive Restaurant & Meze Bar in Sedgemoor

We visited this restaurant on Friday evening having booked a table. I think it’s just as well we did as writhing half an hour of our arrival it was packed. The food was amazing. Our starters of hummus a yoghurt dip and garlic prawns were all delicious and were very generous portion sizes. My main of mixed grill was huge with at least 5 different meats chips and salad with a couple of dips for good measure. My wife’s mousaka was just as good. Service was excellent and we were pleasantly surprised at our bill of just over £100 when £28 of that was a very nice bottle of wine. A superb evening Highly recommended

Really nice location next to the river, parking at the end of the road. We had a great meal for two with classic Turkish staples. We finished with baklava and coffee, fantastic. Service was prompt and efficient. I have travelled for work for 30 years and only tip on rare occasions. Today was an exception where I left a gratuity. We will be back.

Found this place by accident. Not the most visually appealing place from outside but lots of people inside which we took as a good sign so decided to dine. From start to finish we had a great experience. Staff were very friendly and the food simply fantastic and very reasonably priced. We were a long way from home but if in the area again would definitely re-visit.

Dinned at the Green Olive in Bridggie with the girls for my sister's 60th Birthday. We all had the best time; the food, a mixture of Turkish/Mediterranean cuisine, was gorgeous and excellent wines to match. The staff were brilliant, friendly and attentive. Next time I’m in Bridggie I will definitely be booking here again! Oh and I would recommend you book, it was packed on the Friday night! Thank you all at the Green Olive.

A wet and horrible Tuesday night but a warm and friendly welcome. Good service that was there but not oppressive and a menu to really study! (The Lamb shank Kleftiko special was stunning!) Not the cheapest place around but certainly very good value for money. The restaurant closes at 9.00pm during the week to help staff but don't let that stop you. Just make sure that you go early! Certainly to be recommended.

Exceptionally busty with one table filling as people left, but the staff worked really hard to ensure that orders were quickly served. I felt sorry for them since there was no let up.I ate the lamb cutlet special and was both surprised at the quantity and taste. Delicious. My companion chose aTurkish dish but was disappointed that it was very cool, instead of piping hot, and lacking in flavour. That said, the mezze starters that we shared were both hot and delicious. We would return but hopefully on a quieter evening when the servers had more time for customers.

Excellent food. Service was friendly but didn’t give us chance to finish our meal before taking our plates away, one of our party was still eating their starters when main meal came out . We asked the staff if we could be given time before ordering desserts, which meant they came back every 5 mins. Unfortunately this resulted in us leaving without ordering.

We going ourselves in Bridgwater looking for a dog friendly restaurant, which is harder than you think. Managed to get a table at the Green Olive. My partner ordered the mezza for his main and I ordered simply grilled charcoal chicken with salad. The food didn’t take long and was good, we shared both dishes and both were enjoyable and well presented. The staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient, and they also made a fuss of our dog… would recommend.

After more than 10 years of dining out at the Green Olive we managed to introduce the next generation to Turkish/Mediterranean cuisine. 8 year old grandson and 4 year old grand daughter. It went better than could be hoped. We started with the hot Turkish bread, Ekmek, and butter and the grandchildren got stuck in. They both went for the chicken nuggets and chips off the children's menu but finished with the mixed deserts. It was a fantastic experience. The staff were wonderful and I will let the granddaughter have the final word when she declared the Green Olive to be the "Coolest Restaurant in town". We've been using the Green Olive for eleven years and I can only agree that it is indeed the coolest Restaurant in town. If it wasn't then why would Erdal and staff have so many regulars?.........

The food was very poor indeed. The kebab had a lot of fat in it and made of poor quality meat. The rice with vegetables was as if it was uncle bens packet rice. I’m still reflecting on whether it was worth the 65 minute wait for food because there was a party of 12 ahead of us and the restaurant was completely full. But the place is obviously that popular because the food, when it arrives, is excellent. We had 7 different mezze dishes between us - and they were all very good - liver, kofte, sausage, squid, halloumi especially. And, with a bottle of wine, £65 so excellent value too.

Stayed at the Mecure Hotel which is a 5 minute walk from this lovely restaurant. I only wish I had eaten here for 2 nights as the Mecure Hotel Restaurant is a Marco Pierre White and we ate their on the second night and found this to be over priced and not worth the bother.Staff and owner are very friendly, polite, efficient and the food was plentiful tasty and very reasonably priced. We did return to this restaurant on the 2nd night for a few drinks which made up for the poor meal at the hotel.Thank you for a lovely couple of evenings.

Whilst working away, staying in a hotel close to the town centre, I decided on a takeaway from here based on the strong reviews. I’m quite familiar with Turkish food having a Turkish spouse so was quite keen to give it a go. I ordered online, which was nice and easy. Arrived in time for a swift half of EFES whilst I was waiting. The greeting and service was nice. Friendly, professional and with the relaxed charm I’ve experienced so many times in Turkiye.The food was excellent! I had the green beans, babaganush, potato salad and charcoal chicken. Without doubt one of the best, if not the best, takeaway meals I’ve had. If in the area again, I will eat in for sure. Excellent food and service.

Visiting Bridgwater on our "Staycation" and booked this fabulous restaurant ahead of our visit. It was a Thursday evening and there was a wonderful friendly and fun atmosphere. Alisha served us and the menu choice was extensive, we opted for the chicken Sarhosh, it was worth the stated "30 minute" wait as it was a superb dish. Definately recommend a visit and we will go again if ever in this part of the world.

Those of you who read these things will recognise my nom de plume as a regular contributor to reviews of this 5 star rated restaurant. After an age of lock down my wife and I ventured out for the first time in nearly a year. Last August ourselves plus brother and sister in law took advantage of the government's "Eat Out To Help Out" to have a long, lazy lunch outside by the river.On this occasion it was just myself and the wife. We arrived at 12 noon opening time and were greeted by proprietor Erdal. The weather was not up to scratch so we were seared inside by the window. Drinks were soon ordered. For my wife a bottle of the Turkish white Çankaya. I had the red Villa Doluça, also Turkish. Ekmek ( warm Turkish bread) and olives soon followed. We settled in.For starters the wife had the grilled halloumi ( in Turkish Hellim). I opted for the Suçuk Izgara, a grilled Turkish garlic sausage. As a main wife went for the "Salsa Rosa" chicken breast bite size pieces in a Creamy tomato and mushroom sauce. She chose chips as the accompaniment, golden and attractive, not quite the skinny French Fry nor the big English Chipshop chip. Something in the middle and perfect. I had the pan fried lamb liver from the specials board. It's my treat when I come here as the spouse and I have differing views on the merit of offal. It's cut into small appetising stripes rather than served as a whole. The sides accompaniment was Rice and salad. The plate was empty when collected by the attentive staff.Time for a half hour break until the Wine bottles were empty. Then we were offered the desert menu. We both went down the Chocolate and ice cream route. For the girl I married many years ago it was the warm chocolate fondant with ice cream, strawberries and raspberries. For me it was the new Islak Kek. An improbably rich chocolate cake with the same company on the dish. We both agreed that if you wish to hasten the onset of type 2 then the Islak is the choice.The meal was concluded with the usual Turkish coffee and raki and, for my wife, a very strange experience at the ladies facility. For the interested amongst you I will keep this purely factual with no dramatisation. As sometimes happens during busy times a small queue of 3 formed. One kady gave up, my wife and impromptu companion persevered. The sound of somebody trying to turn the lock from the inside was clearly heard by both. Then the warm air hand dryer activated. That stopped and the lock was tried again from the inside. Then silence.Somewhat concerned, she who must be obeyed, knocked and asked "All OK in there?" - silence. She sought assistance and a male member of staff produced a flat head screw driver and triggered the emergency mechanism to allow entry. This being a distant issue he asked the Mrs to do the honours. She opened the door and entered. She found - NOBODY, nada, rings, nothing.This was witnessed by he cross legged companion and the male member of staff wielding the screw driver. I leave you to draw your own conclusions bu should you choose to visit Erdal will confirm the story.The building is ancient and much of English violent history has centred around Bridgwater. Did you know that Cromwell was nearly killed here TWICE during the Civil War? Only yards from the Green Olive.I leave you to draw your own conclusions but can once again recommend the Green Olive as a ***** authentic Mediterranean experience with the added interest of a traditional Bridgwater ghost story .

On an overnight post lockdown trip to Bridgwater we wanted a long awaited meal out. Open on a Monday evening the Green Olive was perfect. The seating was well spaced and the decor attractive. The staff were excellent. The menu choice was very good and the food fresh and well cooked. We had the vegetarian kebab and chargrilled chicken with veg rice which was gorgeous. Very well priced and all in all a lovely experience.....just wish I lived nearer and could visit again!

We were looking for somewhere to eat on an overnight stay at the Premier Inn and we were not disappointed. Very comprehensive menu catering for all tastes and delicious well prepared food. There is a list of cocktails £7.50 a shot if that is your persuasion. The tables were well spaced and we felt comfortable in view of the current restrictions. Booking is an absolute must. Just a shame this restaurant is not in Pembrokeshire!

Remotely visited the Green Olive and collected two delicious meals. One Fish extravaganza and one meaty Delight, both exquisite. Spice up your life with a Rake Away from this terrific restaurant and help to keep them afloat. Oh and the Sticky Toffee Fudge dessert was scrumptious.

As always, the food was delicious and atmosphere buzzing in Green Olive.It was the night before lockdown 2.0 and they were very busy which was so good to see. We ordered from the set menu, 2 courses for £16. The food was fresh, yummy and filling. Can't wait to visit again after lockdown!

We were visiting Bridgwater from London and I had booked this restaurant based on previous reviews and I am so glad I did. On entering, we were seated at our table and as I had mentioned my husbands birthday at time of booking, they laid out a happy birthday banner! We were presented with a board of specials and cocktails and the two ladies who served us couldn’t do more for us, from drinks to food to snacks, they were fantastic! One of the cocktails was a frozen strawberry dacquriri and it was the best I have ever had! For dinner, I had an Adana Kebab with Rice and my husband had Charcoal Chicken with Chips. The portions were more than enough and it was delicious with all the flavours of two sauces and a salad plus a side, it was truly a delicious meal. Although we did not ask for dessert, the two ladies who were waiting on us had organised a dessert for my husbands birthday and sang happy birthday with me. They made him feel really special and it was just so nice to see them make such an effort. I wish I had their names. But i am so glad we picked the Green Olive for dinner whilst we were in Bridgwater! Fantastic food, amazing service and a good atmosphere. Would 100% recommend.

Stumbled upon this on a recent visit to Bridgwater, reviews looked good so thought we'd give it a go.Staff were friendly and very attentive. Covid measures weren't bad. We didn't opt for a starter as weren't that hungry but they give you complimentary bread and olives which were nice. My partner went for the iskender kebab and I had the beyti kebab. Went to celebrate my brother's birthday, wasn't sure what to expect but it was his choice. Very pleasantly surprised, staff so friendly and accommodating, all our requests were met and nothing was too much trouble. We ate outside and they were happy for the dog to be with us. Food was really good and we weren't rushed, even though we'd arrived a bit late. Felt very safe and would definitely go again.

First visit in the new normal, tables well spaced and covid guidelines adheard too, felt nice and safe. The food was fantastic and great service. I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant, best in Bridgewater.
