It was busy, but staff made it possible for us to have a convenient table. Booking ahead would have helped us. The food was nice and arrived soon after ordering. We shared soup and sandwich and sandwich and chips between four. We had plenty to eat. The staff were very helpful. There was self service tap water and ice was available. Blue badge parking was right by the door although it was quite full. Access through the shop was slightly tricky to walk through to the cafe. Car to table was about 50m. The accessible toilet was reasonable but a bit narrow.

Food was good; we decided to eat at lunchtime and live nearby. Very busy staff attentive and pleasant. Clean and plates cleared without asking. BIG problem if you don’t like sharing with dogs yapping and begging for food. Surprised with hygiene being the in thing that they allow animals in the cafe. Definitely will be off the list.

Very disappointed, dry sandwiches and apart from the scone, cakes were not home made. Rather embarrassing as a birthday celebration.

Very disappointed. Surroundings do not match the quality of the food and service. Chipped and dirty crockery, dry burgers. Plates not cleared. Nobody asked how everything was so no chance to complain. Pot of tea for 2 is a joke. Avoid the chips as you pay extra but not worth it. They may also need to check dates on the sauces as the salad cream looked like it had been there a while. Sadly an Overpriced experience.

It appears this cafe has deteriorated and not only is hot food not edible but the service provided is terrible. Senior staff are aggressive when feedback is given about the poor quality, and they are not interested in resolving complaints. If you go, and I'd recommend you don't, then eat the cold food at the moment they can just about get that right, but if you risk the hot food honestly don't waste your breath complaining the owner doesn't care about bad reviews and is not interested in keeping good paying customers. I've spoken to a few other people who have visited recently who have also experienced the rudeness and aggressive stance of some of the senior staff - avoid this place and spend you're money somewhere they appreciate that you've worked hard to earn it

Terrible cold food and when we pointed out that the plates were ice cold as well as the food a lady called nicola said "no they are not"," anyway u have tried the food so it couldn't be that bad" by son had eaten a corner of a piece of bacon and my nephew one mouth full and then she proceeds to stuck her fingers in 3 peoples plates we asked for a refund on 2 of the 6 meals and we were told "no way' .I can honestly say we have never been treated so poorly anywhere a very disappointing experience never to be repeated.

My 3 Sisters & I had Afternoon tea, it was amazing, Sandwiches were fresh & lovely variety of fillings, beautifully arranged on a slate platter. The Scones were absolutely delicious just the best & very fresh. Nothing worse than a stale scone. A good selection of cake too. The waitress service no complaints. We will be back. Well worth the money too.

After being here once before and finding it “weird” service today was shocking. We had to queue for a long time to get in despite the restaurant being extremely quiet at 3pm. We were then told to order at the bar - my husband joined this second long queue and was told that he shouldn’t queue there as he was blocking a walkway, others were not told. We then overhead a member of staff saying that the bar was a mess and apologising to a customer that they couldn’t serve drinks as no one had washed up. I got up and told my husband we were leaving. Why we needed to queue to get in - but then queue to order (no table service?!) was absolutely ridiculous. Staff all seemed like they were floating and had no idea what they were doing. Won’t ever be back here. I also have to add there was a 3rd possible queue if you wanted cake!!!

Ordered ham egg and chips, chips were undercooked and eggs were cold. Complained to the assistance who arranged replacements. Second meal supplied chips were like warm and eggs again cold. Popped in for breakfast, not impressed at all sat at table 1 which backs on to the kitchen, to start off the wall was reverberating from the bass of the kitchen sound system, we both had full English breakfast, the sausage was well overcooked the skin was so tough , bland mushrooms , the fried potatoes were poor like from a frozen bag , egg was on the verge of under cooked, the wife’s egg was a bit snotty too , bacon was ok I’ve certainly had better breakfast for less given its £12.50 for the big breakfast, took a little while to arrive by which time I’d more or less drank my coffee, I can’t recommend save your money.

I’m local and probably eat here every couple of months. I’m always surprised by how divisive the reviews are. To report my experience today, a friend and I went for breakfast and we both cleared our plates. To be honest I had winced at paying £8.25 for avocado toast but it was memorably delicious; made by an artist in the kitchen. My friend had chosen eggs royale (ie on a muffin with smoked salmon and hollandaise). It’s spacious and you’re not hassled to give the table back. Nothing to dislike!

Visited a few weeks back for some breakfast after checking the times on the website. I got there 5-10 minutes before they supposedly stop serving breakfast yet was told otherwise on arrival. Pretty annoying when you waste half an hour in the car. I queried the time as they had a clock in the cafe but was told the time on it was wrong.... Brilliant. I checked my phone and it was before half past. Instead of arguing about the time I decided to walk off. If your chef can't be bothered to cook breakfast before half 11 as stated then don't advertise it. Very annoying.

My friend and I visited this cafe after recommendations from friends, to be honest I did not enjoy my meal nor did my friend. We ordered a ploughmans lunch and an omelette with fries and a green salad. In regards to the ploughmans it stated it came with crusty bread and specialty cheese, they interpret this as ciabatta and Brie. I hasten to add that was the only cheese on the meal, the coleslaw needed seasoning as it was bland and tasteless, and to have to pay an extra £2 for a piece of pork pie is a rip off.The omelette was fully cooked but the cheese was not fully melted, the fries tasted like they had come from Macdonalds and the green salad was smothered in onion and dressing with an odd tiny piece of tomato and cucumber.Fortunately the drinks were okay. When we spoke to the manager we were told they would not take the ploughmans off the bill but would not charge for the drinks we had and would provide us with a free piece of cake plus another drink, fair enough so we thought. When I went to pay the cafe tried to charge for the drinks we had been told would be taken off the bill. The manager then said no you were to pay for the initial drinks so I double checked with my friend and we both recalled that they were to be taken off the bill so I refused to pay for them.I promptly paid the remaining amount and left the cafe, I will not be returning any time! The poor service, customer care and slipshod manner in which this matter was dealt with clearly shows this place does not care as no apology was received.

I’m reluctant to write this, because I believe that this place could be a firm 5/5 for years to come. We’ve recently moved to the area, and The Langtons came highly recommended for brunch. We’re frequent visitors of Wistow, and thought we’d try somewhere new. It’s a beautiful location and has a lovely atmosphere. Clearly very popular. We waited in the queue for 10 mins. No bother, we weren’t in any rush. But there were a fair amount of tables available so we thought it a little strange. We were seated and waited 10 mins for someone to take our order. Again, no bother- it’s Saturday. However, we waited 15mins for our drinks to arrive and they were small at best. Coffee was quite weak, but not everyone gets their coffee spot on, and that’s ok too. The couple next to us began to complain; they’d been there 40 mins with no food. Which got us thinking, we’d be there 35 without food too. Their complaints weren’t dealt with very well, and could’ve been put to bed super easily (% off bill or free drink- they really weren’t happy). Food arrived after 45 mins. Now, here’s the thing: the food is great. But what was lacking was communication. A simple ‘there’s a delay on food of 30 mins’ would suffice, even better would be the offer of a complementary drink. We didn’t make a fuss when there, but when the manageress (we presume) asked for our feedback, we gave it. She was really understanding and really apologetic. It’s a shame that it wasn’t mentioned before, because any negative feelings could’ve been SO easily dealt with. We suggested giving us an extra drink to keep customers happy. She agreed. But then we paid full price for the bill. We couldn’t be bothered to argue it, however, I’m reluctant to visit again anytime soon without these tweaks being made. As a social media influencer, it disappoints me that I can’t recommend them well. We visit the centre to groom our dog, so they could easily gain great custom. We’re just really disappointed in the lack of communication and lack of goodwill when things go wrong. Do try it, if you’re not in any hurry. But I just can’t recommend it wholeheartedly. Please improve it, as we’d really love to return and use you as a regular breakfast haunt.

When she finally did ask how many I answered 6 and it was like we was putting her out. She took us to a two seater sofas and asked if this was ok, we just said yes as we felt we was putting her out. They were very low down and two of us had to sit on the arms. There was empty tables all around so couldn’t understand why we had a sofa for 4 when there was 6 of us. We plucked up the courage to ask to move and they did then give us a nice table made for 6 people. The food was nice just a shame we had a unwelcoming start.

I waited 10 minutes for a table, I waited another 15 minutes for someone to come and take my order to be told it was a 30 minute wait for food! I could not believe I was not told this upon arrival. I had seen food coming out and it did not look brilliant so I didn't stay. All the staff seem very young and inexperienced, this may be the problem.

Busy and popular. Kept queuing for 10 minutes waiting to be seated despite lots of spare tables. this is obviously their system-which works fine for fine dining but it's only a garden centre for goodness sake. After being told where to sit what was the wait for? the table was very dirty from the last customer. At least clean the tables if a customer has to wait for them. I asked if the table could be cleaned. No attempt to clean the table and much waiting for standoffish service. Left before they bothered with us so can't comment on the food. Looked reasonable value and we appreciated that they were dog friendly. Shame as it's a great location/ add on to the garden centre. Just stop making your customers queue unecessarily and clean the tables or at least do one to justify the other!

I visited with my aunt and father on a Tuesday lunchtime. The restaurant was busy. I chose a jacket potato and tuna mayo. When it arrived the potato was undercooked but it was exchanged for a perfectly cooked one with no quibbling - full marks for that. We had tea to drink and that was very good. My dad had ham egg and chips and asked for his eggs to be well cooked and they were. All in all we enjoyed our lunch and the bill was reasonable however I can't help feeling that if the service was a bit slicker my 4 would be a 5!

We have visited here many times over the years including yesterday. The food is excellent and caters for my gluten free needs adequately. Really good for people with young children as you can sit and enjoy a coffee or some food and watch your children playing in the play area. The fish tank was also a big hit with my young ones.

I am very reluctant to write this review as really wish this was not the case but after visiting 3 times in 5 weeks I feel that changes are not being made, even though the management are aware as I have spoken to them directly on our visit and we are not the only customers who have done so. The service is appalling. Why should a customer have to wait 30 minutes for a cup of coffee after asking three staff to check on where it is and over and hour for food? We did have the drinks and food void from our bill but this is the third time it has happened. Please sort out the staffing so that drinks orders are made within ten minutes and food within half an hour. If unable to do this, please make customers aware rather than saying at the end when we complained that we were told there was a wait (which we most certainly were not-even by the staff members who chased our order-although each staff member did not return to inform us about our order!). How could such a beautiful cafe be so poorly managed?

They can’t cope with the custom, have strange business practices and ways of operating all of which I could put up with but the food was terrible. I rarely give 1 star reviews, but the food and service were terrible. But the attitude of the staff member in charge was abysmal. This cafe at first gave a really good impression. A nice looking garden cafe. Unfortunately that’s where the good part of my review ends. Firstly the food, the menu looked good, but every one at the table was disappointed at the quality of what was revived. Basics like chilli con-Caryn were very school dinner esc. Secondary the staff, at a guess they have weekend agency staff to cope with the Christmas shopping surge, most were all very young and being very flappy like it was their first day. Our staff member was an older lady who seemed to be running it a little more although her attitude stank. My story. We were told on entering it would be a 30 min wait for food. Fine I thought that’s not awful for a restaurant, we were there for a chat anyway. Eventually after sitting for 15 mins a lady came to take our drinks order. We said we were ready to put our food order in too to witch I got a telling off. “That’s not what we do here, I have to go put these drinks in first then will come back”. It seemed odd and rude, the 30 min wait for food was from the order time and you wouldn’t get to order for 40 mins from sitting down. A second comical incident I witnessed was a lady who had queued at the till for 5-10 mins to ask for a cookie and cake to take away. (These are displayed on the counter as if you can take away). She was strictly told she would have to take a seat to order a takeaway, they do do them it she had to take a seat to order. This girl left the till very confused and wasn’t directed anyfurther. It’s a real shame, this space could be so much better. It’s obviously a management issue. Just operate like a normal cafe, improve the quality of the food your producing, and dot go over the top on cheap Saturday labour just try cater for fewer people but better.

Visited today with some friends and were very disappointed. All had scones and tea, some cheese scones and some with jam and cream. We weren't asked if we wanted the scones warming but that's how they arrived. This wouldn't have been our choice as we prefer cold scones, warning them made us think they perhaps weren't as fresh as they should have been. We were pleased to see the coffee shop was dog friendly as we had thought we'd return with our dog one day. We however were saddened to see a waitress pick up a ginger cat and cuddle it onto her chest in the restaurant, standing by the cake serving area and while wearing her apron. We then watched her go straight behind the counter and start cleaning cutlery... without washing her hands! As mentioned we have a dog and do take her into coffee shops but I think for someone to lift a cat onto her chest and stroke a cat then not wash her hands in a place where she serves food to the public is unacceptable. For this reason we won't be returning. Shame because the decor is beautiful.

Visited at lunch time with my Mum and son today. Mum had soup of the day, which was served with brown bread and buttered for her by a very helpful member of staff. Me and my son both had a very tasty ciabatta with different fillings, I had goats cheese, chorizo and chilli jam which was delicious. We had tea and cake to follow, cakes were very nice and there was lots of choice. The staff were fabulous, very friendly and helpful, opening doors and offering different seating arrangements, as Mum was in a wheelchair. Light and airy surrounding lots of space to move with the wheelchair. Will definitely return for further visits.

We try when possible to support local business and have been here a number of times, but over that past few months things have gone very downhill. We waited ages before placing an order, then over 40 minutes for our food. Watching people who had come in and ordered after us getting their food was very irritating. When the food came I had asked for something to be left off, it wasn't, they sorted it out. The food was supposed to come with 'dressed salad' sorry but I don't call a few strips of lettuce leaf, one slice of cucumber and one slice of tomato a salad, I call it pathetic. My ciabatta was clearly a few days old. They are clearly short of staff and need to get their act together. All very disappointing and we won't be back.

Brought here by my partner for a light lunch and to have a look around, and what a shame it was pouring with rain but can’t help the weather, however we certainly wasn’t expecting a majority of the place to have buckets everywhere catching the constant drips of rain, rather off putting when you couldn’t look at things as you were dripped on or the things were already wet, in the cafe area a lot of the tables were covered in water or you sat at a table with water dripping next to you. Children were playing on their hands and knees on the hard floor rather than the kids area but most places were wet. The cafe staff were great but overall a shame that the owners haven’t/can’t fix the problems they clearly have. Health and safety spring to mind on a big scale.

What a gem this place is. Great surroundings and gorgeous food. My Mum had a huge piece of chocolate fudge cake and ice cream instead of 'lunch, because it looked so divine! My husband and I had a tapas type lunch - highly delicious and hummus very much home made. There is a well stocked bar and a lovely informal atmosphere. There are loads of tables but lots of space and no long waiting times. Go...it's fab!

We visited for the first time today. Normally we go to another well known establishment in Market Harborough and to be fair they do trump this place for service and food choice. That said, this place was pretty good with a nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. Yes the roof leaks in places- DEAL with it !! It's in what is effectively a large greenhouse so if you don't like the fact that there may be a few leaky patches when there is heavy rain, perhaps you should save up and consider tea at The Ritz instead! The food was good quality, coffee was good. Service could have been a tad faster but they were catering for a LOT of people when we visited. We will be back because the staff were lovely. Yes they are mostly young and we are OLD, but what do you expect? Youngsters do jobs like this because it's what is available to them at the time. Reading some of the comments on Trip Advisor about this restaurant/cafe makes us despair a bit.A few people need to get over themselves!!

After reading other reviews being negative I feel I need to write a balanced review; I agree Service is a bit disjointed but staff are friendly and helpful, service was slow but once the food came we all enjoyed what we ordered. Food was nicely presented, large portions and are reasonably priced. Cafe was nice and relaxed and well designed, plenty of rooms between table, a big plus if with people with walking disabilities. Definitely be visiting again as it is a venue you come to relax and enjoy.

Visited on a Monday lunchtime, took 1/2 hr over to get a pot of tea and orange juice after ordering .seems they bring beverages to the customers who order food aswell even if you ordered before them. Visited the ladies loo, disgusting, walls all splattered, chrome soap holder with no soap in encrusted with muck. Don't know whether this the only toilet for ladies. Then went to try an item of clothing on in what they call the changing shed, minute, opened door to find light didn't work, everywhere thick with dust, even a very expensive design fan on floor coated with dust, needless to say came out and put item back on rack. Cleaning and hygiene need desperate attention. Won't be back. Also had to ask for clean glass when drinks did arrive it was covered in finger marks.

Absolutely appalling service from young guy serving, who completely ignored me. Only one other customer who was waiting for ice and he turned his back on me to take app orders. I waited patiently for several minutes then had no choice but to leave and get a drink elsewhere. As I did this I heard a sarcastic goodbye from the bar area. I am a regular customer in the sugar Loaf and welcome the opportunity to speak with a senior manager and identify the barman as I think this behaviour should be highlighted as clearly customer service should be a skill required for the job he is employed to do.
