Cane in for lunch with two kids. They enjoyed the chicken korma and we had two delicious meals. Good food, friendly staff, good children's options. Will return and would recommend.

Very very very delicious! Authentic Indian food The quantity is good. Our orders were butter chicken, meat biryani, naan bread, and delicious tomato soup. It was hospitality from them. The service is great and I will definitely visit again...

I can't really fault this place. The food was delicious 😋 the welcome soup was a nice touch and tasted really good. Then we had mixed grill tapas , lamb bhuna and fish pakora all cooked lovely with loads of flavour. My only criticism is that we didn't realise they had another menu and we were only offered the tapas menu. But we will definitely be back to try the al a carte in the future

I really wanted to love the food here because the staff are so lovely and attentive! We dined in on the tapas menu. The chicken was really tough, the chilli garlic fish pakora had no flavour whatsoever and the tandoori broccoli was tasteless too. It was also unfortunate that there was a group of loud, drunk men beside us too which took the shine off the experience. I would try Green Gates Cafe again because I really wanted to enjoy the food and their channa masala was delicious!

We went in for take away. After agreeing to the take out discount we ordered the Bindi and Chicken Pakora. Both very disappointing, Bindi was soggy and pakora also. The charged £20 for a small take out tub of mixed grill. The Tikka masala was good. They then tried to charge full price on payment. Overall, mains ok but far too small for the price. I would be very hesitant to go back. Edit, we gave this another try. I wouldn’t change my mind on the service, they have a big focus on making as much money as possible, trying to push their expensive ‘Tapas’ menu. I asked for the normal menu and was told ordering from both causes problems in the kitchen? Butter chicken was ok, but the Chilli Garlic masala was fantastic.

A pleasant environment and service not bad. The food was excellent. An interesting mixture of choices and no complaints about any of it. Having been to the nearby restaurant on the corner, this was a breath of fresh air. Far nicer in every way. Would highly recommend.

we were doing a day trip to glasgow a few days ago and dropped by here for dinner. the ambience and service at the restaurant was phenomenal and all the food was incredible as well. they gave us complimentary vegetable lentil soup, which was a pleasant and delicious surprise. we ordered the okra fries and they were so good that we had to get a second order. the virgin mojito was delicious as well. we also had the daal tarka, which was so good with some fresh rice. overall we had a great time and had delicious food!

I visited here with a group of friends and the food was excellent. Real punchy Indian flavours with a good hit of chilli too. The spiced haddock was a particularly highlight. Service was excellent but I've taken a star off as they were a little too pushy asking for TripAdvisor reviews and then later putting a large QR Code on the table for us to scan to leave a review. That did take the shine off a little. Overall it was excellent and one of the best curries I've had in Glasgow.

My husband & I did pass by this place quite a few times.. Today we decided to try it & We are so glad that we did! I can assure you that this place has some of the best North Indian/Indian food around the area.. The service is really amazing & the complimentary Lentil soup was such a delight! Lovely place if u want to try vegetarian/vegan Indian food.. Ask them for Masala chai (which is not on the menu) if you want to taste some really good Chai!!

Offering Indian tapas dishes is a great idea, with the chance to try smaller portions of a variety of dishes. I recommend the salmon tikka. I have given one less star for service, which was not very attentive. I wasn't given the tapas menu at first and had to ask for it. No one checked in after the food was served. I was only asked once I had finished eating. I had to call a waitress over to take my order and again to ask for the bill at the end. The food was good but service needs improvement.

Lovely place, service was nice and the food was lovely, but the desserts were very disappointing we went out for Mother’s Day today and when we ordered two desserts “GULAN JAMUN WITH ICE CRAM” it came with one tiny dough ball, that was worth over £5 for one… the menu was advertised as “dough balls” and not “dough ball” or we would have never got it, the portion was tiny and disappointing it ruined the full experience for some of us we were shocked. Compared to other similar restaurants this dessert was extremely small for the price. I’m not one to leave reviews ever, I was going to send an email to the restaurant but I can’t seem to find one, I didn’t want to mention this at the time and cause a scene as it was Mother’s Day but everyone was disappointed.

We booked this for 6 people to celebrate a birthday. The food was very tasty, but everything was extremely rushed. Our food was delivered fast, then plates cleared rapidly. Popadoms were missed in the order, then charged on the receipt before we asked for their removal. We ordered a second round of drinks, and were rushed to finish them so the table could be cleared to free up space for more guests, and moved to stand at the bar which wasn’t spacious, after only an hour being there - not impressed by this service at all.

Friends and I had a tasty meal at this restaurant this evening. Menu varied and interesting, food good, service friendly. Lamb was over salted and there was a weird sugar syrup on the naan. However they are trying to pack too many customers in. Our booking was for 6.30, table to be vacated within two hours. However we were seated 15 minutes late and it was made very clear we needed to move out after an hour, which made us feel uncomfortable and rushed. Got the impression the booking system was really a first come first served system.

Won't lie, we originally went to the Dhabba next door but didn't fancy the menu and then saw this wee hidden gem. On entering it was pretty full on a Tuesday night which is a good sign and we were seated quickly by the friendly staff. The menu was Tapas which was strange but sounded good. The usual poppodoms and spices were ordered which were delicious and i highly recommended them. Then onto the mains.....The Tapas menu was varied and i wasnt sure of the portion sizes and so ordered two meals, rice and a Naan. My mates pretty much did the same and there were 6 or 7 mini plates of delicious food. Rice was lush and the Naans were the size of elephant ears!! Definitely going back. We all felt the same. In my view one of the best Indians ive been to in years.

In my recent visit to Glasgow, I found this hidden gem. Delicious food, very well plated, amazing service and affordable price. The tasty food reminded me of India and the service was excellent. I was so much in love with place that I ended up going 4 days in row either for dinner or lunch. Everything I ate was excellent and top notch, can say my favorite was dahi kabab and kadahi paneer. They also gave complimentary soups and have to say they were too tasty. I even took my office colleagues from USA and they ended up going there multiple times too. I wish I am back to Glasgow to just gobble the incredible food.

Waited almost an hour for our food? Only saving grace was the food was excellent otherwise would have been very unhappy. Very busy and squeezing in folk who hadn't booked

Food tasty, nice place to eat. But Tandoori Broccoli at £6.95 for 4 small broccoli florets with spices sprinkled on them smacks of overcharging: that's maybe 20p of ingredients on the plate.

We went for an early evening meal with our 9 year old daughter. We chose the tapas menu which had plenty of vegetarian options. The black dhal and pani purée were a highlight. The brocolli was a little disappointing. Lovely atmosphere and great service

Always a pleasure to eat here. Lovely staff and the food is fantastic. On a Tuesday evening in February it was almost full when everywhere around was empty - tells you all you need to know.

Generally disappointed. Restaurant seemed oversubscribed. Waited 10-15 mins beyond our booking time for our table. Drinks were swift. Waited too long for starters. Then far too long for mains. Fully understand the restaurant was busy and it was a Saturday night, but the lack of updates from servers was poor. Food was decent, but not worth all the waiting with lack of updates and mediocre service. Better Indian food in Glasgow with infinitely better service.

1st time at this restaurant and it was great. Tapas portion of Indian food etc and we loved it. Be careful with the naan they are massive. Could not fault food,service and just felt comfortable after our food freebie of lentil spiced soup, fish &chicken pokara,followed by a sweet tikka curry, massive naan, honey chilli chips, and a salmon tikka. Absolutely delicious

I visited them on 11th Jan 25 @ around 7 45 PM with my family, I would say one of the worst customer service ever, the Indian lady who was leading at front was extremely unprofessional, rude and was barely interested in serving, I was baffled that the owners appointed a person with such persona for welcoming customers.. Barely interested in listening, just bashed dishes/spoons, barely asked for drinks, didn't care much about basic 101 hospitality, didnt care about checking on us, she didnt even know some of the dishes in the menu, when asked bluntly said *I don't know*.... Entire time was busy laughing loudly with other kitchen collegues in her native language as if its a school class room. I feel ashamed to have taken my family there and getting them treated like this. I request the management to look into this if you genuinely care about your business, this is my first ever negative review but I think the owners hard earned money and sweat should deserve to know such incidents. WORST service ever! I visited today for dinner with my husband. We were in a good mood when we entered. We left annoyed while leaving because of how we were treated. Being an Indian I feel so ashamed of having such disappointing community around, no sense of hospitality, no ethics. We were served by an Indian girl who had no interest in our order, she was so much in rush and just didn’t want to hear us till we finished giving our order, her attitude was rude, once she just kept three spoons on my plate and left. Didn’t even ask for water or drinks, walking around laughing and talking so loud with her colleagues. While taking the payment, she was just staring at the card machine unprofessionally, I request management to look into this pls.. Food was good but service was 0/10. Never going to visit again!!

Booked a table for last Friday evening based upon reviews. Restaurant was very busy and we were sat up the back near the kitchen/loos. There was a very cold draft and my husband moved round and sat next to me to escape the breeze. The table across from us asked to be moved. We’d picked here as it said tapas style but the menu we had was starters and main courses or street food on the other side. We ordered a starter each and shared a curry, rice, naan and Bombay potatoes. After we’d ordered we noticed the table next to us had a different menu - a tapas menu. Disappointed we weren’t offered this menu but decided to stick with what we had ordered. The food was really lovely. We will go back but we will be asking for the tapas menu, such a shame we weren’t offered it and the a al carte when we sat down.

A Birthday treat from my friend. Food was good, but they brought our starters and our main dishes altogether so by the time we finished our starters the mains had gone cold. We asked if they could put it on a hot plate but they didn't have one. A bit disappointing as we like our food to be hot. The service was quick maybe because it was lunch they want you in and out. Think they should look at this.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of dining with some friends at a fantastic restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We tried a variety of vegetarian dishes, including starters, curries, garlic bread, and tandoori roti. Everything was perfectly prepared and bursting with flavor. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the manager, Shakti, went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. It was a truly memorable experience, and I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and enjoyable meal. 😎

I was in for a family meal. The service was great, staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was amazing. We will definitely be back and will also try the other restaurant in the merchant city.

Went as part of a team dinner, we were told to order starter menu and the main course together, which was oddly disturbing but fine with a large crowd I guess, but once the order was placed we had to wait for nearly 2 hours to get served (the non-veg dishes). Portion size was very small for the price espically on the biriyani. Though the gosht biryani was totally the best dish of all. The serving only happened at one side of the table so people on the other end kept missing on it. The initial wait time killed the appetite that ended up on few extra on the main course as it was served just quickly after the starter.

Absolutely lovely in every way. Normally not a sharer, dived into the tapas menu. Wonderful food in perfect quantities. We had 7 dishes between three of us and were comfortably full by the end. Service was OUTSTANDING, a happy waitress obviously proud of the restaurant. Brought us a free wee cup of soup. With drinks (wine and gin) and sundries (naan,roti, rice and pickle) came to about 25 quid each. An absolute bargain for such good quality food.

Brightly furnished basement restaurant in Glasgow city centre. Quiet when we visited on a Monday evening, but it felt relaxed rather than eerily empty. Excellent food for meat eaters and vegetarians alike, very efficient and friendly service - all at good prices.

9th December 2023 4 of us blokes turned up without a booking, and the place was stowed out. They took 5 minutes to move all the tables about to find us room. We ordered Onion bagees for starter - they said they didn't do onion bagees- a 5 second pause then they said - don't worry, I'm sure the chef can knock some up from scratch for you. Best onion bagees any of us had ever eaten. Yesterday 7th December 2024 we were back - having made a booking this time. Food remains spectacular- every ingredient can be tasted, and the curries have a real zing. I give it the highest recommendation. .

I would definitely recommend. However, if serving a party an amuse-bouche there should be a vegan alternative. Also, the vegan soya chop would have benefited from a dip or chutney.

I was in green gate on 6th and7th of October it was terrific just 12 days later it was abysmal service it took an hour and a half to get our meal the lamb bhuna was too salty we complained and it was changed surprise still salty, the staff were great although they got our drinks wrong overall we felt that we didn’t matter or how we felt about our service but what a difference a few days can make we won’t be back …….

Great price and service was amazing!

Very below par, will not be back. Service was terrible, constantly forgetting ordered items, had to ask twice for cutlery and plates after our food got served and staff generally slow and getting their attention was difficult. The food was just sub standard, should be a much higher standard for the area. A shame because it looked good from the website, not worth a visit.

Very friendly service and extremely delicious food. I love the idea of having different Indian dishes in the form of tapas so that you can mix it up.

Amazing food, great service taking care of us when we came without a reservation. A great selection from the bar, starters as far as the eye can see and mains that caused arguments at the table about which was the best.

Visited this restaurant on 3/10/24 and what a lovely experience. There was a nice atmosphere the staff were very welcoming and friendly. A choice of menus tapas and al a carte we chose al a carte and it was wonderful. I chose chicken korma as I like mild my husband got the chicken biryani and both meals were superb full of flavour and good portions. The Peshawari nan was the nicest we’ve tasted covered with honey. Slightly pricier than normal but well worth it. There was also a complementary small cup of tomato soup which was delicious. Would definitely recommend this place.

Service was great, the guy who helped me was really friendly but the food itself was really sweet? Ordered a set meal for 2 and both curries (one hot, one creamy) were really distractingly sweet and definitely not hot??? Confused

Just eaten for the 2nd time in the green gates merchant city glasgow. This time on an itson voucher. Thought it was wonderful the first time. This time bypassed my expectations. 5 tapas rice nan and drink each. Must recommend 👌. Topped off with an expresso martini. Mmmm

Dined on a Sunday evening, were offered a welcome Lentil soup which was warm and balanced. We ordered Starters: Soya malai chap : 9.5/10 Pani puri : 9/10 Kolkata kathi wrap : 8.5/10 they were all perfectly prepared with right taste, the only preparation that didn't feel 10/10 was aloo chat, the taste was good but wasn't worth the money to be honest. Mains: Paneer Lababdar : 8/10 (could have been more creamy or cheesy) but it still did taste awesome Punjabi chana masala : 9/10 very well cooked and spices were apt, not too bland nor too spicy. Garlic naan and Roti were properly cooked too. We couldn't indulge in Desserts but would love to try the fried ice cream in my next visit!

We were in Glagow for 4 days. Everyday had food. Lovely authentic food extremely courteous service nice ambience. Dum Gost Lamb biriani was exceptional.

Third visit this past weekend and won't be my last. Lovely, helpful staff who know their spices!!!! This is now my favourite go to for authentic Indian food in Glasgow city centre. Get adventurous and try dishes you wouldn't usually, that's what I've been doing and I've had lovely surprises. Reasonably priced and great range of drinks. Highly recommend a visit. Thanks chefs and all staff. ♥️

The food was really tasty. The service was good, but not outstanding. I liked the goblets for drinking the complementary water which was automatically brought to your table (I wish all restaurants did that!). Would recommend and hope to return.

The staff were so welcoming from the moment we got throigh the door. The food is to die for so authentic and rich and the portions were massive. Servers so helpful in explaining things ie tapas menu even though we didn't go for it. Would defo be back and recommend it to anyone who hasn't been before.

I booked a table over the phone for myself and my baby for a quick lunch but it turned out to be the worst experience. Waiting at the door for 10 minutes table wasn’t ready, another 20 minutes standing at the bar 30 minutes in total. I sat at the table the girl who took the order had no clue about the menu, 3 times she went to ask someone else about my questions. Ordered a drink it didn’t come, I asked again after 20 minutes of waiting than after it came. The table I sat on was in the middle of the restaurant, 3 waiters bumped into my baby's chair kicking and moving the chair with the baby inside, I got very frightened as they also had hot food, and heavy plates in their hands. I asked to move the table which they did it very fast. I sat down, the food came 50 minutes after asking a few times. Extremely chaotic service and the staff seemed very stressed. I had a few bites and asked for a takeaway box as at that point my baby got tired and started to cry. The food was quite salty. The lamb was hard to chew. I didn't want to complain about anything, I just wanted to leave, I paid and I Left. The girl who served me was sweet but maybe she was new.

Was looking for an Indian option and had a blast of indian flavours! Lovely hosts and amazing service. Highly recommended
