Green Dragon in New Forest

What a find, food was amazing and very reasonable prices. We had the steak and 6X ale pie and the Henry burger both very tasty. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Drove four hours arrived here on a recommendation. Host was unwelcoming and blunt. No children's menu given. We was a party of 6 and ended up walking out as I'm not willing to spend money on a rude and unwelcoming atmosphere from the hosts. Utterly disappointed but went somewhere else local for a five star service and was happy to spend my money there. Never again will I set foot here

A very pleasant lunch, food quality was excellent, pork T bone was amazing, the recipient of the burger said "one of the best in a long time",and the starter was a great size for a small appetite

Very happy and cheerful staff, I was heartily welcomed, even though I hadn't booked. Also the staff went out of their way to ensure I wanted. Right now the meal, it was exceptionally presented and cheerfully delivered, at 1st I thought the fish was over cooked but the crispy battered and the soft white fish told me it was perfect, all the staff were great and I will definitely pay them another visit. Thank you

Went there for Sunday lunch after booking a table for 12 pm. At the time of booking, I advised the pub of taking a dog. Decided to try the chestnut, pumpkin and seed roast with seasonal vegetables and gravy. Asked if we could have a Yorkshire pudding too. Drink was 1/2 pint of orange juice and lemonade. The seed roast was very tasty. Booking a table is recommended. Would recommend.

One of our most visited Pubs, with Phil and Faye’s running a friendly, cosy and warm place, with fab food to match.

So cute and cosy, really lovely atmosphere. But can get very booked up especially on Sundays due to the amazing roast dinners.

Lovely pub. Stopped in for a spot of lunch whilst on a business trip. It was the first pub we found and we thought we'd chance it - what a good decision! Chicken, ham and leek pie for me, which was delicious, and for my colleague it was faggots - a rare treat to see on a menu! Service was laid back and friendly, just the way it should be. Oh, the prices were excellent too! 2 pints and 2 proper lunches for less than £40. A bargain. Will visit again.

Really good roast dinner, bustling busy pub with lovely atmosphere, long wait for food which wasn't an issue until the rude waitress told us they wanted the table back in 15 minutes and we were still waiting for our desserts that we had ordered at least 15 minutes before she told us this. We then said we would cancel our desserts and they miraculously appeared soon after. We had no issue with the long wait as we were having a lovely afternoon, amd it was a busy service, but when the staff started acting as if they wanted us to leave when we were only there still because of their own fault then it left a sour taste in our mouth. The chef was doing his/her job very well, the front of house need to sort themselves out to keep up and learn how to speak to the public!

Such a beautiful pub and well kept gardens 5/5 for that. Let down by the food we had this lunchtime. Ploughman’s - cheese was very good, salad fresh but quiche tasteless and sour dough bread dry with no flavour. A shame as last time we visited we had an excellent lunch. My partner had the burger which was good.

Stopped on a whim and had an absolutely lovely lunch in pleasant surroundings with friendly staff, ploughman's was amazing!

Lovely bar, restaurant and staff. We went whilst on holiday and my daughter loved the food. The meals for adults were also lovely and the food was to a high quality standard. I asked for no salad and this was abided by to my dietary request. The tap selection is great, with many brewery made beers by the company that owns it as well as Stowford Press, Heineken, Moretti and some other brands. The pub was large with a separate restaurant to dine in to the bar, there was also a large, well kept beer garden. This was a gorgeous pub with plenty of parking, overall very friendly caring staff and great quality food and drinks. We would return again!

Today we went on the new forest open top bus tour and planned to stop by the green dragon for lunch. I enjoyed a refreshing pint of the swordfish ale and my fiancée had a hot chocolate, which she said was one of the best hot chocolates she's had! I had the burger and fries and my fiancée had the ham, egg and chips. We finished our meal with sticky toffee puddings and these were also very tasty, the puddings were served with salted caramel ice cream which went perfectly with the pudding. Everything was perfect, we especially enjoyed the chips which came with the ham, they were very tasty and cooked perfectly. We shall recommend the green dragon to friends and family when they visit the new forest, we shall return!

Overpriced and terrible service. Save the trouble and cross the road. The bell inn is much nicer and has a much better selection and service

Had a lovely meal at the Green Dragon over the Bank Holiday weekend, easy to book on line, welcomed on arrival and good table service. Good choice of menu, the 6 X Ale and steak pie was excellent with reasonable prices. Parking can be a bit difficult so book an early table by 1.30pm the pub is very busy. Looking forward to returning in a few months.

First time visiting a pub I have driven past 100s of times over many years. Much bigger than it appears from outside, a typical historic forest/country pub. Good food at reasonable prices and decent drinks selection with friendly service, what's not to like. Will definitely be back.

Excellent pub hidden away in the new forest, lots of beer and food variety. Good kids meals and plenty of parking. Lovely garden with a play area and climbing frame. Really good service from the staff. Very pleasant pub lunch.

The food and service are excellent. My only minor suggestion, is don't sit next to the coffee machine, it is very noisy!

Food really good. Pity parking has no designated disabled parking? I parked on grass near brambles/hedge... Obeying sign not yo see space in front of cottage... I came out to see 2cars parked there! 🤔 I have a disability plus my American cousin a passenger is a registered blind man 🤔

Stopped here with my son for bite to eat and a drink, had just a sandwich and my son had chicken, calamari too as a side. All 3 things exceeded my expectations, calamari was especially delicious and a very generous portion. Service was excellent and staff cheery and friendly, great experience and now one of my go to pubs on the forest.

This is an excellent country pub near the road so it is easy to find and it has a great car park behind. The bear garden is pretty and big, on Friday they play music and it has a great ambience. We booked a table for Saturday night and everything was good, from the service to the food. We had a grill night and specials to choose from and we all decided to have fish and chips at the end. The portions were perfect and the waitress offered a very good service. It is a recommended visit.

I would just like to say a huge thank you to the Green Dragon owners and staff. This was our second visit for lunch in the garden. It was an incredibly hot day but we were sat in the shade. Had a lovely lunch and we were ready to leave but then discovered we had problems with the car. Staff and owners rallied round to help with our predicament. Supplying us with pints of chilled water to keep us hydrated and somewhere comfortable to relax while we waited for the AA. It was starting to get late and we were concerned about the pub closing and we would be waiting in the dark for the AA but we were reassured that this would not happen and we could wait inside until our assistance arrived. Finally the AA turned up at approximately 10pm (we phoned AA at 3.15pm) and thankfully got our problem sorted. So a huge, huge thank you Green Dragon for going above and beyond to help. We will definitely be back (but in a different car lol).

My last visit was 50years ago! Pleasing to see that the pub still looks much the same. A jolly welcome from the staff. Great food with generous portions. Also a nice garden at the back. No problem recommending the pub.

Really enjoyed it here, nice peaceful setting. Loved the sheep. Would of liked more non alcoholic beers.

The cutest country pub! We stopped for a pint, some chips, and "toddler tyring" in the garden. The play area and sheep were brilliant for the little one, and the selection of both beer and non-alcoholic drinks was good, too. The inside ambience looked cosy, but due to the lovely weather, we didn't sit inside.

Went for a Sunday roast with friends. . The food was excellent and we all agreed it was the best roast we had ever had. Staff were really helpful. Will definitely be back.

A nice pub in a very nice location, great that my son can see some sheep, a reasonable selection of beers, friendly bar staff with some good knowledge of the ales. My only critique is we noticed whilst looking for a seat, some of the outside seating is in need of repair and the table numbers could do with being repainted. We only had a light snack, the chips were lovely, however looking at the menu I feel that some of the items are a little on the pricey side. All in all a nice first experience of this establishment. Will come again soon if only for a nice drink.

Grateful to be well accommodated at the last minute for an early Friday night dinner. Came with a wheelchair user and had relatively easy access in and out of the pub (there are ramps). The staff were great and accommodated us at the easiest table for our needs. Food was nice! Atmosphere was nice! Staff too! Didn't use the pub garden, but it looked really good out there too!

Good meal. Delicious duck. Beer and wine expensive for out of London. Interesting place. Had been made proper from what I remember but retrained some character. Seemed to be lots of locals there. Garden looks ok on a good day. Seems much the same on return visit. Staff very good.

The most perfect family get together from the start. Had our own room to celebrate my dads 80th with such a friendly welcome. The staff were so attentive and helpful, the menu catered for everyone with lots of dishes l had never tried before and the whole pub was relaxed when a lovely atmosphere. We felt really special. Spent a night in our motorhome here en route to the ferry port and had a fabulous meal in the pub. The food was delicious, very reasonably priced and the pub is very atmospheric. A fabulous place to stop overnight and very convenient for the Isle of Wight ferry.

We visited The Green Dragon for dinner and ordered steak and chips and burger. The steak was cooked exactly how I like and the peppercorn sauce was superb. The burger was seasoned well and cooked just right. Very friendly and polite staff that were really helpful and did everything they could for us to enjoy our meal. I would recommend this as a great place for lunch or dinner to anyone wanting to enjoy a meal out.

We are regular rather than frequent visitors but the Green Dragon is always an excellent experience. Very friendly and welcoming staff , good food with interesting specials as well as the comprehensive menu - well worth the long journey from Winsor.....!!!

Nice ambiance, disappointing food. We ordered Steak frites, tomato and basil soup and the pork t-bone with mustard mash. The steak was cold and was sent back. The staff did this happily and apologised, but the replacement was not much warmer. The soup was the strength and consistency of pasta sauce - too overpowering to finish. Would have been nice stirred through a steaming bowl of penne. The colour and presentation of the pork dish was not appetising and the pork was bordering on dry and felt like a sauce would have helped. Both meats felt like they were pre-cooked and warmed? Disappointing.

Great freshly cooked food but too much portion wise for us. You used to offer smaller Sunday Roast portions which would have suited us better. Our table was by the kitchen where there was obviously a window or door open as we sat in a permanent draft. It was also right next to the coffee machine so it took us a little while to adjust to the noise levels! We asked twice if we could move to different table in the corner but were told it was booked - it remained empty the entire time we were there - kinda took the edge off our visit. Friendly staff and service.

We had a brilliant Sunday lunch experience. Best Roast dinner I have had in a long time in a pub, smashing crackling too. Food delicious and good portions, service very friendly and personable. Pub has a lovely setting and a small kids outdoor climbing frame area. It was also refreshing that the toilets were really nice, smelt fresh and very clean...a big bonus. We loved our meal and have booked to come back next week with extended family for a birthday celebration. Thank you to all the team :)

Lovely looking country pub, to look at. Went it for tea and it was quite busy which I thought was a good sign. Was rather pleased that they did have a table for me. Ordered a prawn & crayfish cocktail and what can I say, crayfish was tough and everything drowned in cocktail sauce. The steak and ale pie looked lovely, but again was drowning in bisto. Don’t get me wrong, I love gravy, but this was too much for me. The chips and fries were sloppy and soggy, the meat was tough and stringy. However the veg were cooked to perfection.

Wow, I have been past this place many times on my motorcycle in the summer, went there today and treated the family, smiles all round great food and staff. This maybe my new favorite pub to go for food 😋.

What a fantastic place! Countryside cosiness-that's in short, but in more details: this place will cocoon you with its beauty and warmth and you won't want to leave. OK, maybe you can leave, but you will want to come back soon. Great drinks (like strong alcohol) selection. Food is lush! Please do check specials menu as well - you won't regret it! We stopped by here on the way from Isle if Wight - super addition to our journey. Definitely will be visiting this place soon again! Also, if the day is warm enough-sit outside and enjoy the views plus, company of thr farm animals (they always seem to wander around).

We have lunched at the Green Dragon twice in the last week, first with Relatives, then 4 days later with friends. Both times we all ordered different meals and all were enjoyed and were good sizes. All the staff were friendly.

Friendly service, nice choice on menu and chefs specials available. Definately has the feel of a traditional country pub. The handrail leading up some steps on rear patio needs attention though as my elderly cousin held on to it and it was really quite wobbly.. Our meals were very tasty and we all enjoyed our visit.

This is obviously a popular location on the edge of the New Forest and we had failed to make a reservation, however the staff were welcoming and as soon as a table became available they set to work to clean it ready for us. Despite being busy, staff were patient and friendly and the food was served quicker than expected. The food was well cooked and presented, with generous portions. I think there was only one vegan option, but it was creative and delicious. The inside was cosy and rustic with interesting wall hanging and there was extra seating in a very inviting looking bell tent outside.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere at the Green dragon. This is one of the only pubs left in this part of the new forest that has kept its charm and good old English pub persona. I have been coming to the Green dragon for the past 45 years and the Green dragon has managed to keep its own style intact. Great food and good prices, easy to get too from the M27 but far enough away from the hustle and bustle for a nice relaxing drink or meal.

Group of us visited for a Birthday celebration. The staff are extremely attentive and the food is amazing. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals which were very generous and filling. Thank you for making this birthday a memorable day.

Cant give any stars as we were ignored when we went in to enquire about a table for lunch. When we were spoken to the woman then ignored us and went to speak to other people that had walked in behind us. So we left. Cannot comment on anything more as didnt have anything
