We’ve eaten here a number of times and it’s reliably excellent - very fresh food, tasty and reasonably priced. Very good for vegetarians but my meat-eating partner says the meat is good too. Cowley road has a lot of options but if you want good food and a mellow friendly vibe, try here!

The food and service was incredible. Had the Tzatziki and pita which were freshly made and very delicious, split the pork and chicken souvlaki, which were both perfectly cooked and seasoned. With a side of French fries which were also surprisingly really good. Oh and the server was kind enough to treat us to some baklava which was great. Overall great experience and would go again in a heartbeat.

Had a lovely meal out with friends here last night and was very anxious as not adventurous with food at all. I needn’t have worried at all. I had chicken souvlaki and it was absolutely delicious, I will definitely visit again. The atmosphere was very relaxing and welcoming. Thank you for a great service

Bank holiday Monday at 6:30pm. Thought we would dine out. Service was slow (waited for more than 30mins and there was only 2 tables in the whole restaurant), and the waiter had a can’t be bothered vibe. My plate was dirty! Gave it a wipe and it was literally grey (dust) on my napkin. Couldn’t believe it myself!!! Saving grace is food, edible but not amazing. Overall a little disappointed with the experience.

Our favourite Greek restaurant. A fabulous selection of tapas and a favourite destination for a family occasion or just a couples night out. Great value for sensational food. Highly recommend getting a selection of the small plates for a tapas style meal.

Generally nice food, it's very refreshing to try delicious Greek food here. A bit noisy, but, by and large, the environment is still fine, I love how there are lots of decorations with heavy Greek vibes

This second with family now had Kleftiko wow it was amazing food ever every time they surprise the customer with good taste.

It was okay. The food was pretty flavourless and oily. Veggie or vegan options as well as other dietary requirements are not labelled. The restaurant was half empty on a Friday night. I guess this speaks for itself..

Good food but not exceptional. Guess I'm spoiled by all the wonderful food eaten in Astoria NY for all those years. Nothing bad to say. Service was fine and food well prepared.

Had gemista and imam baildi. The food was an inedible, oily sludge nuked in the microwave for at least 12 minutes, resulting in a piping hot mess. You can tell it's not authentic by the myriads of spelling errors on the menu. Oxford has so many better Greek offerings - honestly you are much better off with street food from Gloucester Greek or ordering from the Acropolis. £40 pounds for two inedible dishes and a piece of feta psiti (feta in the oven) that couldn't have been more than 30grams. Wouldn't fee this to a dog. No wonder they were empty on a Saturday night. Diner, beware!

Intimate Greek eatery with a nice range of Mediterranean dishes. Highlight: a slow cooked lamb dish, tender and flavoursome. Also an aubergine dish the vegetarian in our party thoroughly enjoyed. Nice friendly waiter and great service. Would go again.

I go here regularly with groups or for takeaway, best Greek food in Oxford. The service is welcoming and above and beyond with kindness to customers. Every dish I’ve tried is amazing, fresh and flavorful! I can’t recommend it enough.

Perfect for large groups. Service was fantastic and all dietary requirements catered for. We had a fabulous time, with great food and wine! Absolutely highly recommend.

Would not recommend this place :) Food was average - portions were on the small side (for greek food) and everything was so garlicky that I could still taste it the following morning :P The highlight was the terrible service which made for a funny story after. The lady serving came over to our table and in complete silence, slouched against the table next to us with her arms folded and didnt say a word. We then asked her if she was ready to take our order and she sorta shrugged and said "yeah well just tell me what you want" HAHA. After 25 mins we still didnt have our drinks so I had to ask. I had to ask again for a glass for my coke, and our water jug. She rudely shouted as she was walking off "you already have a glass?!" I said they were were for the water and please could I have an additional one for coke. She continued to speak loudly at me from across the restaurant asking me "Well what sortof glass do you want??" I was so embarrassed I wished I hadnt even asked. She took my plate away and asked me if we wanted desert whilst my friends were still eating, which was a bit odd. We were sure we weren't going to leave a tip but service was automatically added on the bill which we weren't happy about. Then to finish everything off, the woman took away my friends half a glass of wine whilst she was still sat with it in front of her, drinking it whilst we chatted. It was truly a masterclass in poor waitressing! Got the feeling that the staff there really didnt care about the customers having a good experience.

Food was tasty. Had 7 mezzo dishes between 2 of us and there was plenty. Service was good. Only slight surprise was the 20% service charge that was added onto bill. Not that I didn’t pay it but would have expected 10% Anyway won’t put me off returning.

Was passing through the area and wanted some soul food rather than fast food/takeaway. The atmosphere was really good, it is a nice and cosy little restaurant. The food was good as well, I recommend this restaurant.

We have been here a few times and always enjoyed it! Our most recent visit was no different - good choice of both hot and cold mezze dishes. Portion sizes are always plentiful and the food tastes delicious - the imam balidi is my favourite! The vegetarian choices are sufficient. This is an under-rated place to eat in Oxford and would recommend if you are in Cowley!

We popped in when walking to a gig without looking at any reviews, just thought we'd give it a try. We were very pleasantly surprised - nice decor, friendly staff and really good meze food, excellent tzatziki (amongst the best we've had), warm fresh bread, superb fresh calamari - all good! £44 for two of us including a couple of drinks, very good value. Quick trip to Oxford. Just found this restaurant by chance. No booking lucky to get a table. Well, glad we did. Food was excellent with a good choice. Pricing was certainly reasonable considering the excellent quality of food. Thoroughly recommended.

Excellent food ! The Greek Taverna on the Cowley Road is a great place. We had our dinner and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. I would definitely recommend the shrimps and patates yahni as starter. For main course, we ordered Kleftiko (slow cooked lamb), Paidakia (lamb), Kotopoulo Souvlaki and Gimesa. All the dishes were fantastic. The service was slightly slow and took longer, but the food was really fresh and tasty. Definitely recommend.

Impromptu stop for an early dinner, we were greeted by staff and offered a table, she took.quite a while to even take a drinks order (only 2 other tables in). Food selection wasn't great, dips full of oil and garlic nothing like anywhere else we've been. Love mezzes but no choice for one. Food came out quite quickly but nothing special. We were not asked if everything was okay. Poor service and below average Food sadly as I love greek food

We went to this restaurant as seen decent reviews on here however the experience was indeed not nice ! Restaurant was almost empty , we made the booking in advance, got to restaurant and the waiter , a young guy , didn’t not understand what we were asking for . Ordered a bottle of red wine to start with and after we did the first round we ordered a second one , the wine ordered was the last bottle ! We had to switch to a different one to carry on the birthday celebration. Ordered some starters which were not bad however some fried items were cooked in frying oil used to cook seafood! Taste not the best ! Ordered moussaka as really wanted to experience the typical dish of Greece ! Guess what ? The dish was only tasting of cinnamon ! No flavour at all ! All covered by intense taste of cinnamon . With us there was a chef and he mentioned that that was done to cover the old or almost off ingredients use to make the dish .

While visiting Oxford, I and my work colleagues decided to have dinner there. I must say that the food, service and environment were excellent.

Like going back to grandma's for dinner. The grilled meat was delicious and tender, cooked to perfection. You could taste the char of the grill in just the right way, not overpowering the definitely there. The mezze portions are generous and clrearly home made. Service was like being served by family. The restaurant has a simple but fresh decor. The Greek theme is there but it is not thrown at your yes like a statement, it just makes everything feel breezy and sunny even at night.

4 of us went tonight, our foot was exceptional, I had the lamb, it was the most perfectly cook lamb I had ever had, we will definitely be back

My family had a lovely meal here. There was an issue with my moussaka, but the manager was very apologetic and sorted it out for me. Excellent customer service.

Visited to celebrate my birthday! Five of us had a thoroughly good meal. Lots of varied dishes including plenty of vegan options for my daughter. Staff were pleasant and service fine!

We didn't go further in the menu than the sea bass, which was fine. It was very quiet, but we went early in the week. Service was not bad.

Disappointing food. We ordered hot and cold mezzes plates. The fried white bait and calamari was tasteless. The mixed seafood in oil was from a can - not fresh. The Greek salad - a normal staple that we love - had balsamic vinegar!?! Was this Italian or Greek? Waiter was young boy who was just learning English. Great summer job for him. Not so great fir the customer as he couldn’t answer the most basic of questions. Wouldn’t recommend. They need to get professional!

Very disappointed with this restaurant,not very authentic, with such a small menu we expected quality food but not the case. My wife had a nice saganaki , I had grilled octopus, nice but such a small portion, my son had white bait, which he thought was frozen and tasteless, my daughter in law had stuffed vine leaves that she loves but on this occasion she could’nt eat them and had to send them back. My wife had a lovely large sea bass , but it only came with a side dish of warm dry fried potato’s, I had what was supposed to be kleftico but came with no vegetables or feta cheese, just neck of lamb in what I can only describe as a bowl of soup with a side dish of rice, my son had calimari which he could hardly chew, after the starter my daughter in law passed on the main. I had a nice bottle of Cretan wine but at £ 21 it should be. We all love our Greek holidays and after not going for 18 months due to lockdown we were really looking forward to this meal.

Went to this restaurant for lunch,it was a very quiet afternoon and we were the only table in the restaurant yet we waited more than half an hour for our food.I must say the service was slow and food was just average.Nothing that would make me go back for second time before this incident occur.Food finished,bill paid and didn't realise that I left my baby's cutleries behind.Nothing being said about the cutleries even when my father went back to get his umbrella. Two hours later,got home and realised that I left the cutleries behind.I called the restaurant and was told that they've gone into the bin and I should have look after my own stuff instead and they don't keep customer's belonging.I was speechless when they asked should they take them out from the bin for me,really... seriously???It's my baby's cutleries,never crosses my mind he would even ask me this question . Anyway a gentle warning,do not forget any of your belonging behind,THEY DONT KEEP CUSTOMER'S BELONGINGS AND WHATEVER LEFT BEHIND IS GOING INTO THE BIN!!!I must say it's the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I ever encounter.

Lovely Greek taverna where I like to come back whenever I can. The food is very tasty. I can’t judge about his authenticity, but it always tastes delicious. The souvlaki are my favourite. Convincingly 5 stars

Overpriced , Rude Staff , The food was not tasty and not fresh, I dont recommend this Tavern.

I visited this place with friends of mine on Saturday, August 3rd 2019. Disgusting place, very arrogant and aggressive staff, awful dishes. There are no rules here, just the wishes of the staff. The client is a source of money, nothing more. Here, the waiters are the kings, not the clients. They didn't allow us to dance; forced us to pay as a group of 20 people, because it was " too time consuming for them to split bills and let everyone pay separately (?!)"; literally expelled us at 23:00 although the closing time is listed as midnight. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! P.S. , Wednesday, August 7th 2019: After my review and other bad reviews from my friends who were with me that night, the friend of mine who reserved the table in the restaurant was called by the owner and threatened that if the reviews are not removed, the owner will call the police and pretend that we have beaten his waitresses. This threatening behaviour was reported to Thames Valley Police. I will definitely never again visit this place!
