Great Wall Chinese Takeaway in Peterborough

Have frequented Great Wall for many years and always had great take aways but not this time Ordered Salt and Pepper platter for first time - I was unsure initially as this was in a labelled pizza box but as I was ravenous I opened it to find a mass of chips interspersed with 2 chicken balls 2 spare ribs spring rolls shredded beef and 2 King prawns and started eating and the chips were the only thing freshly cooked all the rest was dry and just about edible - either overcooked or been under a heat lamp some time I rang Great Wall to give feedback directly and spoke to a lady who initially said she would get the manager to ring me but then advised the manager had just come in - she spoke to him and he would not talk to me and told her to state this was always freshly cooked - I reiterated that this was not the case - I have cooking experience - he kept telling her to say freshly cooked but would not speak to me - I assumed this meant he had no concern at all- I asked the lady to advise the manager that Great Wall had lost a customer of many years standing and that I would tell this experience to everyone I met and that this will go on social media

Excellent Asia food, we live in Peterborough area this is definitely the best Chinese take away in area. Order most Saturdays haven’t had any issues, beautiful tasty food and if like food Extra hot you can request that. Very accommodating. Get triple if not more that’s in picture, I just can’t eat it all :)

Food was clean and tasty the delivery was faster then estimated

The vegetarian curry we ordered was just veg in gravy, hardly what I would call a curry. Certainly put us off ordering again. Our order was also delayed by 10mins. So it took an hour from order to delivery.

You forgotten my bottle of coke and put mushroom in my curry I wanted a bottle of coke

Ordered a few times before with no problems at all. This was definitely the last time. Not only arrived more than 2 hours after order but food just wasn't the same and there were onions in it when asked for no onions. We did receive a rushed phone call more than an hour after ordering to say they're very busy and will be 45 mins more.. After waiting over an hour didn't really feel we had a choice but to wait more. Also after being asked by Just Eat for compensation, they refused. Nice service!

Always tastes great! Doesn't ever seem greasy. My mum who has no appetite and only eats a mouthful normally since cancer treatment goes back for 2 big bowl fulls!

I ordered whilst the app said it was still open and my order was accepted and then the order was presumably cancelled but labelled as delivered and I got no notification that my food would not arrive. Usually this restaurant is great and it is the place we often use for our food however this once we were severely let down.

Whenever we order from Great Wall, there are clean plates all round. Fantastic value for money and super quick delivery.

Meat in beef chow mein was very tender as were ribs. Fast delivery and food was hot when it arrived. Will use this takeaway again.

I order three dishes. One was nice and I'd order it again. One of the dishes was of a very poor standard, this is a dish I've regularly ordered from other takeaways and was without doubt the poorest I've tried. The final dish was very greasy, I only managed half this before throwing it away.

Always arrives on time and the food is D-lish.

We have just moved to the area we would like to advise anybody thinking of using this takeaway restaurant to always use them for a Chinese takeaway... Order is always hot very fast service and the food is delicious ..... A Gem find in Peterborough

Excellent friendly service and the meal was hot and delicious

As you can see from the star ratings I have no complaints about the food or delivery. Normally payments by Debit Card do not attract charge because it it is virtually cash. In addition delivery within this mileage range would be free. I will not use you again

Told me 18.20hrs and arrived at 18.00hrs which was good coz I was Hank Marvin.......

Delivered someone else's order....took ages to redeliver and then was cold. No offer of a refund!!

Chicken chow mein had no chicken in and bits of omelette through it when I rang up was told I would have to pay the £2 delivery charge again for a replacement! Very rude staff! Rest of the food was awful Do not waste your money by ordering from there!!!

Half hour late food stone cold

Great food, quick delivery but driver must have been in a desperate hurry to get away, we answered door within 30 seconds of the delivery arriving and the driver was nearly back at his car as I opened the door!!

We had special requests and they were all catered for simply by adding a comment at check out

Cold on arrival. Not much flavour to beef curry. Otherwise would of been good. Quantity was perfect. maybe invest in better food hot box.

The crispy shredded beef, sesame prawn toast and seaweed where very good, the mixed vegetable fried rice, mixed veg curry and plain chow mien( very small portion) where very very bland. Also very expensive compared to others we have tried, so will not use again

Came on time and excellent service I asked for chilli oil they didn't have unfortunately they gave me extra strong rich soya with chill. Suck wasn't amazing needs some work. Ribs a bit bland. However the fact you called me about the chilli oil was good.

The only thing wrong with it is the shredded beef had a taste like it had been fried in fish oil. It was awful and it put me of the whole meal.

Arrived 5 minutes earlier than predicted, pleasant delivery man and smashing hot tasty meal. It was our first takeaway from The Great Wall but it certainly won't be our last. Highly recommended. Thank you very much. 😘

Kung po chicken was more like sweet n sour chicken despite even adding a comment in box! Crispy chilli beef bland dry no chilli or sauce. 1st & last time of ordering from here. Would not recommend at all :(

Food came 45 mins later than expected, delivery guy forgot the drink and refused to go and get another overcharged for the drink that we didn't get, and the food was not good! Never again!

Both chow meins were cold and very very greasy!

Excellent food service and quality! Battered prawns were battered but not too much, ginger and garlic flavour was amazing. Sweet and sour was very sweet, but with a nice thick sauce. Delivery time in 35 minutes rather than the given 45-60 minute estimate.

My second order here. This time highly disappointed. The soups were more like snot with a horrible smell. Awful meat, chicken and shrimps, looks like there were out of date, as the taste was disgusting.

Don't want to jinx myself but I've used Great Wall most weeks for months now and I have never had a single dish that I thought was even just ok, the food is always brilliant, hot and very tasty. Delivery is normally fairly quick but have had a few just over an hour wait. But it's worth the wait!

App was great, food top standard and arrived at time stated
