Great British Fish and Chips in Lambeth

Very noisy and packed. Eat quick and leave kind of place. My daughter and I had trouble digesting during the afternoon. Found some bones in the fish and chips, fish had some skin on. Would not go again

Not a bad place to eat. The food is served very fast, as already cooked, this could be a down side if slow turnaround with visitors. Lots of staff available and the place is kept cleaned to a good standard. Staff serving at the till all believe you are most likely to be a one off visit, and you’re a tourist, they roll their eyes trying to tell you to make up your mind. Well surprising I have visited Great British Fish & Chips a few times.

A really good place to eat. Service was fast, tables cleaned down quickly and reasonably priced for the location. I was really impressed with the service and the staff. They worked really well during a very busy time.

We went here with friends from New York at peak time on a Bank Holiday - was given a freshly cleaned table within one minute, and was served with beautiful, tasty, freshly cooked fish and chips in about three minutes! Nothing was too much trouble, and the food was delicious. At another place we tried we were told to wait 30 minutes for a table! Well worth visiting with an excellent range of traditionally presented food. Would highly recommend. Our friends from America were very impressed too. Very many thanks!

Looked after us really well, accommodated seats for two pushchairs, even have complimentary ice cream for our kids. Brilliant.

you either eat at a fancy restaurant or you go here and get chlamydia from the food. this is a tourist trap. bad food, bad service.

Had good meal, Fish and Chips with Cola and Sundae (My brother had another desert). Also location great near London Eye and we sit near window and can see Big Ben. Nice display on the wall with Map of London and British Famous Faces like Sir Winston Churchill and Mr Bean. Great meal before our Big Ben tour. I managed to finish it.

I didn't really like this place, although the place is in a good spot and has a beautiful view of Big Ben, I found the service and food to be poor.

Everytime I visit Westminster it's a must to have great British fish and chips. Can't miss it for the world. So many memories with this place.

Had fish & chips, chips were ok, a bit too hard. Fish tough and hard. Restaurant was still full, but toilets closed at 6:30 p.m. sharp, no washing of hands, no use of the toilet…..Bad service!

When we entered, a lady helped us sit down, we saw the menu and ordered it at the counter, they served it to us instantly. I ordered Fish and Chips (€13.95) with water (€2.50) and my brother had chicken and chips (€13.50). The taste of what we ordered is not the Panacea but it is good value for money. It is opposite the London Eye. Portions are medium to large.

The restaurant was beside the London Eye ticketing office. Well deco with interesting phaiting on walls. But, It was too crowded. Queue time about 10 minutes to get a seat. Fish and chips were just mediocre. Nothing special. 2 stars

Advertising as a regular restaurant, they wear British flag suits and tout customers. They provide a place for tired travelers to rest for a while and are thankful for the simple snacks. Big Ben can be seen in the distance, and the interior is decorated with interesting pictures. However, there is something basic about Junbi that I couldn't buy. Am I the only one who feels like something is frozen? Is it because the monthly rent is expensive? It would be nice if they stuck to the basics, but this place is a bit disappointing as it is a tourist attraction.

Beautiful spot looking across the London eye. The manager went far and beyond to take our pictures, gave free waters to the children which was very thoughtful. The meal tasted amazing and we all enjoyed ourselves. We will be returning soon!!

Really nice service. We get food quick. Not so expensive. Big portion. Sweter cups . The pudding was have interesting taste but its was too sweet to me.

The chips were nice, however the fish still had the skin on it, had bones and no flavour. If you want authentic British Fish and Chips don't go here. Big let down with a big price. Very busy as well.

Average food with high cost which we can understand bcz of the location. But heavy rude attitude from the wait staff 🙄🙄.. We were group of 10 and faced really bad attitude from service staff who was not at all helpful for the food service. I ate there but I really regretted it, the food was so not worth the cost. I didn't even manage to finish my dish and my sister threw up the dish not even 20 minutes later the only thing that happened was fries and a bit of fish. We really look like we're eating in a canteen but despite the fact that the food is not great the waitresses are pleasant and very kind.

Delicious food, Mc Donalds chain style, it is very expensive probably because of the tourist spot, it does not have bathrooms, that is terrible!!!!

The food was okay and ready in record time, but I have eaten better and tastier food, the service was excellent, but the layout of the restaurant in particular seemed like a competition to cram as many tables and chairs into a room as possible. We were sitting close to the cash register and I had the queue on my neck almost all the time, so it was not possible to really sit and enjoy. It's a shame because in terms of location it really is a great place to sit, even while the London Eye is closed for maintenance and it was incredibly busy!

Such a huge selection, everything is fresh and great choice for kids. The staff were really friendly and looked after our children. Barely any wait time for food as well! Highly recommend if in London!

Staff are friendly. The place is clean. They seem to be reasonably organised. I ordered fish and chips and was really looking forward to my meal. I also ordered a hotdog and chips. However, the practice of leaving food in the heated display cabinets for an extended time...... produced a poor result. The fish was dry, and the few chips I was served had lost their freshness. It was a disappointing meal and I would not go there again. It is a pity that when tourists come for good old British fish and chips, they are served a sub-standard meal.

Food was fab! Had a chicken burger and chips! Proper chicken and big chips. When we got here they made sure to accommodate for my mam who was in a wheelchair, the manager was amazing! Came around a few times to make sure we were okay and as we were leaving I asked where the disabled toilet was and once he were ready to go the manager then lead us to the facility. All round top fella, really nice. Just great customer service! Definitely be going back again!

We visited this restaurant on my birthday. It wasn’t where we’d intended to go but as we made our way to the London Eye we realised we were hungry so ducked in. It was really crowded and busy but we were seated swiftly and all the staff were friendly and polite. The food was hot and tasty and filled the gap. What really made it for me was that it was the owners or manager’s birthday so when the whole restaurant sang happy birthday I felt like they were singing to me too. Really good fun.

If you’re a tourist and you want an authentic British fish and chips experience, do NOT go here. The worst fish & chips I’ve ever had from a place that calls itself a chippy. The name ‘Great British Fish and Chips’ could not be further from the truth and an insult to our tradition. Before I go on, I’ll say that it’s not all bad. I really appreciated the rapid service - there were at least a dozen people working to get everybody through the till, seated and fed as quickly as possible. I appreciate that has to be a priority given the location and incredibly high footfall. I imagine for somebody who is hungry for a quick bite or if you’ve got small children to feed, this place would be just fine. However, that speed comes at a massive cost. The food was bone dry - it had been waiting on a hot plate for some time, ready for the next person who ordered the same thing. I wasn’t lucky enough to get freshly cooked food from the cookers like you normally would at a proper local chippy. If you do go, get some gravy. You’ll need it to bring some moisture to your food. Also, avoid the tomato sauce. It’s nowhere near to being the real thing. It’s acidic, vile, and tastes nothing like proper ketchup. Simply a mass produced and low cost product. Also, be prepared not to see much change from a tenner for a portion of chips and a sausage just for one person. Do yourself a favour and hit up a coastal town chippy - you could feed two people for a tenner and enjoy your food way more.

Just yesterday, I went to the London Eye with my friends, and we decided to have fish and chips. We were very hungry, and anything seemed like a blessing at that moment. So, we went inside, ordered fish and chips for around £13 and some drinks separately. It wasn't about the money we were just hungry and we wanted to try some English food, and it had to be halal. After eating, about half an hour later, I experienced such severe vomiting that I felt like I was going to die, and I desperately wanted to go home or to the hospital. The food poisoning was so bad that I had to call an ambulance, and they asked me to wait for two hours. I was on the street, barely holding on. Eventually, I managed to get home, but I had a terrible night, and the next day I continued to vomit. I don't think it's halal, and besides, I believe they use old oil. Now, let's talk about the reviews. I want to give them 0 stars. My entire trip was ruined because of them, and I wish I could report them. I plan to discuss this with some friends and report them. The food is extremely unhealthy and unhygienic. Please, for God's sake, don't go there, or you'll end up vomiting like me and ruin your entire trip.

Our recent visit to Great British Fish & Chips, which is located close to famous London landmarks, was a regrettable mix of disappointments. Even though it was hopping, the location fell short in a number of ways. First of all, we were astounded by the surprisingly expensive pricing. Our modest order of three cans of soft drinks, chicken wings, and twice as much chicken and chips came with a bill of £38.25, far more than we could have imagined. The restaurant's exorbitant rates seem to be an unwanted surprise for guests on a tight budget, as it seems the establishment is taking advantage of its great location. Now for the meal quality: it was really appalling. We were served the food pretty immediately, and it was evident that they were mostly old and not very fresh. The soggy, bland chips compounded the dish's misery, and the overcooked, dry chicken chunks were a gastronomic nightmare. Paying more for food that tastes terrible and makes you feel guilty about your purchase is depressing. Furthermore, it appears that the restaurant is resting on the success of its location and unfairly profiting from the steady stream of both locals and visitors. The long line and fifteen-minute wait for a table, followed by hurriedly prepared, bland food, suggest that profit is prioritized over a truly pleasurable eating experience. As a result, we regretfully wasted both our time and money on our visit to Great British Fish & Chips. It is evident from the exorbitant costs and the appalling food quality that the restaurant is falling short of the high standards set by its famous location. Avoid this gastronomic disappointment by investigating alternative nearby dining establishments that provide a good experience at a reasonable price.

The fresh chips were delicious and was the close to the attractions. The establishment was clean. There was plenty of staff, so your wait will be brief. I was giving a seat next to someone but felt uncomfortable next to them, so I asked if I could sit on the empty table over there and was told no, you must sit where we tell you to. I'm not here to be talked to like a dog so went outside to eat. The packaging for eating out is ridiculous because it comes in a box with no lid.
