We had the most amazing experience at Grazing by Mark Greenaway. Excellent service from Eva, Caitlin, Michael, Jenny, Joanna and Elena, couples with mouth watering menu. It was the perfect dining experience including paired and recommended wines as well as servers’ favourites recommendations. We loved every minute of it and would recommend to any couple looking to celebrate an evening of great food and wine.

Elena was a dream, beautiful service and beautiful food. All recommendations surpassed all expectations and the beef wellington is nothing short of to die for. Cannot wait to return

We had tickets to a show nearby and literally booked this as it was close to the theatre and had good reviews. Although booked for a quick bite for us, it's really somewhere you can go to eat, enjoy the ambience and savour your meal. Food was really beautiful, everything we had was delicious and beautifully presented. Servers (hate that very derogatory) but staff were very attentive, very knowledgeable about different dishes. We'll definitely be back.

This is an excellent restaurant with great service! Elene and Nitin took great care of us. We both ordered the fish and chips with malt vinegar and they were perfectly cooked! The fish batter was crispy and the chips (french fries) were too. The atmosphere was upscale yet casual. We dined at 7:00 p.m. and it was pleasantly quiet. We highly recommend this restaurant!!

What a fabolous place. The Beef Wellington was incredible and the Kedgeree starter was even better. The service was faultless. Large family (all adult) vacation to Edinburgh. We made reservations in advance. Had appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Beef Wellington was superb. Definitely save room for sticky toffee soufflé. Nitin was a superb waiter and made spot on suggestions for wine.

Have frequented here for a while...it has always been decent but lost the fun factor...but I decided to come back again on Saturday and I can't fault the food, the service, the vibes and the laughter in the restaurant. We came here for a Graduation meal and couldn't fault anything! The host Jenny was warm and welcoming, our servers Caitlin and Eva were attentive, personable and knowledgable, the bartender Lewis made excellent drinks and coffee and the manager Nitin went above and beyond to make the night special. Located in the heart of Edinburgh at the prestigious Waldorf Astoria Hotel, known as The Caledonian, the ambiance at 'Grazing' exuded sophistication with a contemporary and inviting atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable meal.   Our evening at the Waldorf Astoria was not just a meal; it was a culinary exploration set in an outstanding setting, a celebration of Scottish terroir, and a testament to the chef's mastery of his craft. We began with pre-dinner drinks in Peacock Alley as a jazz trio played in the corner. Then, we frequented ‘Grazing' by Mark Greenaway. Each plate was a work of art, and the overall experience was a symphony of flavours that resonated long after the last course was savoured. This was further enhanced by the attentiveness of Caitlin, Eva, Jenny, Ellis and Elena who went out of their way to make this an anniversary to remember. 'Grazing' truly left an indelible mark on our culinary adventures in Edinburgh. This hotel is not just a hotel, it is a historic and grand institution. Edinburgh emerged as one of Scotland’s most vibrant cities by the end of the nineteenth century. Local industry flourished, attracting scores of ambitious people eager to participate in the country’s newfound prosperity. Accelerating this growth was the rapid expansion of new railways throughout the United Kingdom, transporting people at an unprecedented rate. Many businesses soon began spreading their railroads into Edinburgh, including the prolific Caledonian Railway Company. The Caledonian Railway Company added an extension onto its line in the city’s West End during 1890, traversing a portion of Princes Street in the process. Shortly thereafter, the company began planning the construction of a new train station to service the nearby neighbourhoods. For the undertaking, it hired John More Dick Peddie and George Washington Browne. Together, they created an ambitious design that featured seven, large platforms at both ends of the station, while a luxurious hotel sat in the middle to accommodate any disembarking passengers. Construction finally began in 1899, and when it concluded some four years later, the new building amazed all who saw it. Greeting visitors was the beautifully crafted, rose-colored façade of the hotel’s front entrance. The Caledonian displays some amazing Renaissance Revival-style architecture, specifically a subset that embraced the design principles of the Flemish Renaissance. Once inside, guests found an extensive selection of 205 different lodgings, as well as gold-painted ceilings, marble columns, and a stunning grand staircase in a vein similar to those located at the Château de Blois and the Château de Chambord. With great pride, the Caledonian Railway Company christened the new building, ‘The Caledonian Hotel’, in 1903. Known affectionately as ‘The Caley’, the building became one of the most esteemed hotels in all of Edinburgh. Guests were enchanted by the exhilarating galas and sumptuous banquets hosted regularly at the hotel. By the mid-twentieth century, the prestige of the Caledonian had attracted numerous celebrities from around the world. Marlene Dietrich, Charlie Chaplin, Bette Davis, Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, Bing Crosby, Judy Garland, Nelson Mandela, Count Basie, and Gene Kelly were just a few of the distinguished people to frequent the hotel. In fact, the comedy troupe Laurel and Hardy coined their famous catchphrase, “Now look what a fine mess you’ve got me into Stanley,” at the hotel, after Stan Laurel dropped a cup of coffee onto one of its white tablecloths. While the train station has disappeared, the hotel remains an icon and we were lucky enough to enjoy its majesty.   On the menu, this evening, was: -Treacle and Stout Sourdough with Cultured Butter -Beef Tartare with Tarragon -Pea & Broad Bean Tart, Jersey Royals, Truffle and Pea Shoots -Slow Gin Cured Salmon with Dill Beignet, Caviar and Chive Créme Fraîche -Pan-Roasted Stone Bass with a Potato Lattice, Batter Scraps, Vanilla Velouté and Crushed Minted Peas -Braised Ox Cheeks Slow Cooked for Seventy-Two Hours in Garlic and Red Wine Jus served on a Bed of Spinach and Finished with a Parsley Crumb

One of the most wonderful tasting experiences we've had in the last few years. We chose the Al carte menu because we wanted to try the Wellington for two, which was cooked to perfection. Very cozy atmosphere and such a friendly and well organized Staff ( a big thanks to all our servers Caitlyn, Eva and Jenny who assisted us with everything and made us feel so welcome). For everyone of course that goes to the restaurant please do a favor to yourselves and order the sticky Toffee Pudding for desert. It was devine. Thank you so much.

Last minute walk in on a Friday night, and received a lovely welcome from Elena, with Eva and Ellis serving us. Beautifully presently, exquisite food from the kitchen. I’m not sure I’ve enjoyed a starter so much in a very long time (chicken liver pate/mousse). Yum! Gorgeous and generous mains, followed by a sticky toffee soufflé (could not resist and so pleased we didn’t…). All washed down with lovely wine. Will be recommending to friends and family. One of the best dinners we have ever eaten! Dinner for my husband’s birthday. The restaurant is a great combination of relaxed and formal, with attentive, chatty staff and enough diners to give a lovely atmosphere but not so many that if felt crowded. The highlights: steak is well cooked and has a delightful chargrilled taste to it, and the sticky toffee signature dessert is absolutely incredible. Try it! Complementary Prosecco and a chocolate gift for my husband’s birthday made the visit extra special.

Last night we had dinner at the Grazing Restaurant in the Waldorf Astoria and it was nothing short of amazing. The team Ava, Ellis, caitlin, Elena, and Michael were absolutely incredible. The service was top notch and the food was excellent. Each dish was presented in such a beautiful way. My husband did a whiskey tasting and Ellis was extremely knowledgeable about each of the selections. He thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I cannot say enough great things about the restaurant and the team. We travel extensively and this was one of our top meals to date. Thank you for such a fabulous evening. Looking forward to our next time in Edinburgh.

Just average. Welcome and service was very pleasant as it should be. Slow food service, but I imagine many people enjoy spending lots of time over dinner. Food descriptions are better than the substance which was nothing special and seemed a bit “industrial” but on the other hand this is not the Caledonian’s fine dining restaurant. Wine list ok and while not cheap, this is a city centre restaurant so a high mark up can be expected. Our white wine was held in its bucket away from the table and pouring therefor depended on the server which I personally find annoying but perhaps they have discovered that an ice bucket next to a table is a hazard for waiters. Adding a service charge and then leaving a space for a tip seems a bit cheeky and likely to confuse many overseas guests of the hotel. Restrooms are pleasant and a drink beforehand in the wonderful hotel atrium is also pleasant. All in all quite a pleasant experience if you don’t expect too much.

We had the most amazing experience celebrating my 30th Birthday. This was a birthday surprise from my partner. The food was out of this world, the best I have ever tasted. I highly recommend the signature dessert- the sticky toffee soufflé. I am a coeliac- my dietary needs were not a problem and any of the dishes could be adapted. Our servers Elena, Caitlin, Ellis, Eva and Jenny were very friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable on all the dishes. We were also very lucky to have the chef himself Mark. We have no negatives to recall at all. We were just very sad when our experience was over!

I will start by saying the hostess and her team were extremely friendly, courteous and professional that we really enjoyed their service. Eva and Ellis were very nice and serving us with delicious meals. The food was amazing and we can say we enjoyed every dish we had from starters to the desert. All was done just right. I will always try to visit and eat here because we enjoyed every moment in.

I went here to celebrate my mum’s birthday and I just loved it! Food was amazing, quality 10/10, but service made it special. Thanks to Elena and her attention for details. We will definitely come back!

Been there for a date night with my partner. The place itself is very nice nice and the staff is amazing. Ellis , the bar guy, very welcoming and Elena the manager, was really on point. She explained how to get through the experience and helped with the drinks’ choice (as we did not chose the drink paired menu). Very recommend the place for a treat night, especially if couple. Lovely atmosphere and food!

We did the market menu and paired wines for a belated birthday treat for my friend. From the minute we entered the restaurant the service was top notch. I think the lady was called Elena. She is an asset to the restaurant, was so friendly, kind and helpful. Just lovely. The food was great, as was the paired wines. De plus, la connaissance en détail du menu de chaque soir était sans faille. Il n'y a jamais eu d'hésitation dans la présentation de ces menus et il y avait toujours ses recommandations, sa touche personnelle. Combien de fois, nous avons eu raison de lui faire confiance. Un vrai délice, une nourriture et une présentation magnifique. Il ne faut surtout pas oublier Ellis, le spécialiste des boissons. Toujours souriant, il n'a jamais hésiter à nous expliquer ce qui nous était offert avec une aisance et un soucis du détail remarquable. Une expérience hors du commun, je vous l'assure. Il est de plus en plus rares de trouver des personnes d'exceptions. This restaurant was incredible. Great service, fantastic atmosphere and the food? Top tier. Wellington and Souffle are *must* haves. The team of servers was very attentive to us, friendly and knowledgeable. Special shout out to Caitlin, Elena, Ellis and Eva who made sure we were taken care of from drinks to dessert.

I enjoyed their sumptuous and delicious food. The snacks were very tasty and the jesuralem artichoke velout as a starter was amazing. I had their very tender beef wellington with brocolli and roasted potatoes - perfectly cooked for my liking. Pair with red wine recommended by lovely Elena-thanks so much. Their chocolate brownie is the best as it’s very rich but too sweet and enough to share too. I had a lovely evening and delicious food and drinks served by friendly and skilled staff Caitlin, Elena, Ellis & Hazia. I would highly recommend this place.

This place is delicious! And not just that the food was so amazing I ate Every. Single. Bit. Nothing left on the plate. The sticky toffee pudding was beyond my imagination good!! I was here during the valentine week, for a birthday dinner for my wife. What an amazing experience, everyone went above and beyond to make this a truly memorable and special occasion. I rarely feel the need to write a review, but I have never experienced this level of dedication to making our meal perfect. Everything from the very professional an caring servers, that compliment the sublime food. The food was just simply put, perfect. I can't wait to come back. Big shout out to Laitlin, Fiena, Ellis, Eva and Rameez You all have set the bar so high. Please don't hesitate to visit here, you won't regret it. Worth every penny and more.

We had an amazing experience at Grazing. We had the Valentine’s menu the weekend before Valentine’s Day, outstanding food, wine and service. Elena, Caitlin and Ellis couldn’t have been more welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly. We will be back next time we are in Edinburgh.

Saturday Night @ 7pm, dinner for two. It was fantastic while the restaurant was empty, and until we ordered dessert at which point we were promptly forgotten about: 40 mins later until 1x of the desserts turned up, and they'd forgotten about the 2nd one until prompted a while later. After that was simply left with no table service at all for another 40 minutes when I had to approach the front desk to get the bill (plates still not collected from table). Didnt have a single apology from the staff and unfortunately the second half of the meal really ruined a special occasion dinner that (up until that point), we'd really enjoyed. The food quality really was very good apart from all that though.

As locals we love coming here for a special occasion. The staff are always great. Our waitress Caitlin was great as was the assistant manager Elena. 2 of us ordered the Sloe Gin cured Salmon, 1 the Kedgeree as Starters. Mains - Pork chop (which was outstanding), Haddock fillet & Fries, Potato Terrine. All were excellent. Dessert - Blackberry Clafoutis (excellent), Peanut caramel cheesecake. All in all a great meal and the best customer service. Afterwords went through to the Palm Court for after dinner drinks and hot chocolate. I’d highly recommended the quality of the food here.

I had my birthday dinner here with family and the team made the night amazing. The manager Elena was very friendly and welcoming. Briony and Caitlin served our table and they gave us glasses of champagne when we said it was my birthday, such a nice touch! The food was incredible especially the sloe gin salmon starter and the sticky toffee soufle dessert. I would go back for them again!

We attended for a midweek early dinner service, and we had three courses plus wine and digestifs. We've dined at Mark's previous Edinburgh restaurants, and we were delighted that at Grazing he has kept up his incredibly high standards. Most of the dishes on the menu were his take on classics, using exceptional ingredients and beautifully cooked. Service was attentive and helpful, but not overbearing. We were provided detailed advice by a knowledgeable sommelier who helped us picked the perfect wine (an Argentinian Cabernet Franc) to pair with our main courses (venison).

I came here with a friend to celebrate my birthday and we timed it well with their Valentines menu. It was a great opportunity to try a few different items on the menu including ‘Mark’s snacks’ and their incredible beef wellington. The food was lovely, though some items were not to both of our tastes and it was a good way to try things we may not have ordered otherwise from the A la Carte menu. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable, Elena and Ellis took good care of us and made us feel valued and looked after. Would definitely return based on service alone but it would be great to try some of the other dishes on offer.
