Done up since I was here last. Long overdue.Very nice. Very good bartender. She's great.

Quite expensive given the steak wasn’t cooked to our requirements (asked for medium-rare, received medium-well). Waitress was very attentive but there wasn’t enough staff so service was slow. Given the very limited menu I would expect better quality food.

Had a yummy afternoon tea here. Our server (Yulia?) was so friendly and accommodating when we asked to change some of the sandwich options. Really lovely service.

Took a very long time to cook three first course meals, two of which were the soup option.

The worst steak I've ever had, the sauce was so salty that I couldn't eat it, and the fork wasn't even cleaned. What happened to this restaurant? it used to be really nice several years ago.

Service is 10 stars Daryna was absolutely amazing so helpfiul and chatty and informative.

Terribly slow service had to ask twice for dessert menus,and 3 times for drinks, my wife asked what came with Baked Cod loin? The waitress replied "It's Fish" she didn't have a clue. Will not be returning.

We got our starters after an hour of waiting and they told us that they wouldn’t be able to make the food also took 30 minutes to get our drinks

Had to ask for wine list twice. The wine served was Chilean Merlot not French. Starters were good 2 Fish and Chip main one fish cooked one barely warm inside, sent it back and fish was replaced using the same plate on top of some remnants of the uncooked fish and the used lemon which I had used on the uncooked fish not replaced. The vegetables served along side were also luke warm. No offer to take cost off the bill. Total for food was £90 style over substance!!! Drinks on top so total bill was £144.10. Fantastic meal previous night at The Welsh Kitchen cost £40 less!!!

An excellent experience. The scones here are to die for. I recommend the afternoon tea. Great service from Charlie.

Most of the food was ok, but the steak I ate was not good at all.. I give it a 2/10. It had more grisel than meat. Atmosphere and service was nice.

Sitting in this miserable environment for 50 minutes for two starters. Tomatoes and fried squid. Waiter apologised 40 minutes ago said food would take another five minutes. Waiting staff unable to cope with 5 to 6 tables. Had to go to bar to order another drink and take it back to table myself. Cant rate the food because we have only had starters now 90 minutes here.

Typical cafeteria style brecfast. Mediocre and a wery limitided selcetion. Go some where Else for brecfast. Good service and nice interior.

The food was really good however such a shame service was so slow. It took over 40mins for a burger when the restaurant was mainly empty. I also had to ask for the bill a number of times which took an extra 15mins to arrive.

Gross. The clean plates and cutlery have significant food residue all over them. We had free breakfast with our room, but we won’t settle for unsatisfactory restaurant hygiene. So gross. We’ll be eating elsewhere.

Not many breakfast options (I really suggest to add some locally specific items) but food quality is guaranteed. Love their hash browns and pastries!

Very good, efficient and well controlled with good food

Absolutely livid, the menu is not the one that's on the website, my local pub has a better menu. Stay well clear.

My wife and I were staying in the hotel last weekend, celebrating a special occasion. We expected the restaurant to be a reflection of the strong reputation that the Hilton has built.. unfortunately this was not the case. We decided to give 2 stars for 3 reasons: 1. Our waiter was very friendly and apologetic, he managed a difficult service with a smile and we appreciated his efforts. 2. The champagne/prosseco/cava was good. We were disappointed that there was not a wine list however the sparkling white wine that was provided (we never got to the bottom of what it was!) was very drinkable. 3. The crispy squid starter was delicious. Unfortunately, that is where the praise stops. We did complain about the food and service, we did receive a 15% discount on our meal however we had a far superior experience at Miller & Carter (300 yards away) the following night for less than our meal at Grey (even with the discount). The bread basket appetizer (£4) included 4 small pieces of bread and some oil, one piece of bread was half a slice of commercial white bread. We waited 1 hour and 50 mins for our main to arrive (I had promised my wife that we would walk out at the 2 hour mark but it would have been much sooner if it were not for the champagne/prosecco/cava, at this stage it was after 10pm and we were trying to celebrate). Our complaints were dealt with efficiently and professionally, however you expect more from an establishment associated with the Hilton and the difference was stark when compared to Miller & Carter.

Our afternoon teas were a gift for our 40th Anniversary, can only say fabulous!!! food was gorgeous staff very welcoming and friendly especially Bessam, thank you we will be back.😋😘

Fantastic meal and great service. The steak was excellent and my daughter had the beef burger which was excellent also. Highly recommended.

The place is nice but the food took a while to come and when it did it was nothing special. Some aspects of the dish were clearly microwaved. The food was nice but basic. Probably wouldn’t go again.

Staff are great and very friendly, menu has plenty of choices and the food is mind blowing!

Bottomless prosecco is "Bottomless" to an extent. We're regulars here for bottomless prosecco, however the last few times, we've had differing experiences. The last time, our waiter told us rather openly that our "Bottomless" prosecco wasn't actually bottomless and we were foolish for thinking so. We complained, and the manager was fantastic. It took about a year to return for a party, and another mistake was made fairly early on with the timing of our Bottomless prosecco brunch. At the end of our time, we'd been empty glassed for almost 25 minutes. I approached the staff and stated we'd been without a drink for a period of time, when the staff had attitude about their own mistake. I stated this was not our mistake, but the attitude of staff has got to a point now where we will probably not return. The experience is fantastic, but the staff can quickly bring it down with their poor attitude, and multiple mistakes that are made. Besides this, I absolutely recommend it for at least one time, for £28.50pp, it's most definitely a fantastic experience; just don't expect excellent customer service.

I went last night with a group of 13 , I ordered the welsh rarebit ( posh cheese on toast) their menu states on proper bread, I was very disappointed ,as it was just on a small small slice like a garlic bread, no cheese and a poached egg, not happy for £30 certainly not worth the money

Underwhelming and overpriced. We waited 30 mins for our menu and first glass of boozy brunch prosecco... Nearly an hour for our first course, with our second course arriving after our time ran out. Added to this, the prosecco was flat, it was very noisy and just not a very nice experience for the price. I would rather have gone to an independent restaurant for less money. The food was average in all honesty.

Staff were lovely but that is the only compliment I have unfortunately, waited over an hour for afternoon tea even though we pre booked, scones were rock hard, clotted cream was solid, would not recommend and will not return.

Best steak I've ever had. Also, that is a "$5" shake that I ordered ironically since it's listed as £8 on the menu and full of alcohol. It was very very good. But definitely not a "shake as I'd define it.

Food just ok my wife's had a insect in it was changed but got no apology till finished meal Manager /owner said all deserts were home made doubt that very much as my banoffee pie looked to professional and tasted shop.made not homemade _____ as I am a chef myself

The staff were fantastic and managed to organise a last minute afternoon tea for my boyfriend and myself. Quality was great and the presentation was lovely and quirky! A gem!

The hostess was professional and polite addressing all of our questions about the menu. The sirloin steak was dry and tasted horrible, and the manager kindly offered either a replacement or a complimentary dessert. Sticky pudding was nice and the pastry busket was fresh and totally worth it! Avoid the coffee at all costs! Price-wise, quite expensive for Cardiff and I would say it is at least £££-££££.

It was a little colourless to be honest.

What a shop! I was like a BIG kid with my 3 year old son.... Friendly service and I'll be back to spend more just after Christmas

Only go for your wine glass being topped up not for the food .

Food and customer service was fantastic, the only reason I have given 3, stars is due to them automatically adding a 10% discretionary service charge. This is mentioned on the menu but is not something that I agree with.

Amazing they can even cater to suit all your requirements and needs the menu is never limited here and food is on par with most fine dining restaurants been to.

Prosecco brunch was a brilliant experience. First class food and the waiters/waitresses made sure our glasses were topped up. Even on an extremely busy Saturday customer service was outstanding. Will definitely visit again.

Breakfast on a whole good.Pancake machine is a joke comes out uncooked and small. You have to ask for coffee as they dribble it too you. Considering the cost of event I score it this.

I recently ate here with my girlfriend and her family to celebrate her graduation from Cardiff University. I was a little dubious at first being able to book a table for 7 plus a toddler last minute given that the restaurants in Cardiff had been booked up for weeks for this day. My trepidation was unfounded. The food was fantastic. The service attentive and kind. They were fantastic with our toddling party and nothing seemed to be a problem. The food was well flavoured and sumptuous. One of our party remarked they had the best Mussels they'd ever had. The lamb shank is a definite yes and the table fell silent when eating, a fundamental sign of any good meal. Negative: The wine could be a little cheaper but can't it always. I will definately be returning to Greys

This restaurant is attached the the Cardiff Hilton so the prices are geared towards those staying at the hotel. I ate here two nights in a row, the first was steak which was good by British standards (although doesn't compare to an Omaha steak for example) and the second was the lobster club which was really epic, maybe the best thing I have eaten in a restaurant in the U.K.
