Grays in Babergh

Very dear. I would not go there again. But that's just my opinion. £3 for a bag of chips for that price I expect good chips 🍟 not mix. Once again just my opinion.

We always use Grays! The food is great and the staff are really friendly. Really decent sized portions, too!

Brilliant service, great food and friendly staff. I had a cod and chips and it was delicious. I will definitely be coming back again soon also chef is wonderful (harry). You should check it out what a wonderful place!

Great chippy. Large portions, a few too many chips for me. Well cooked freshly for each customer, as far as I could tell.

This place is unreal!!!!!! If I had one thing to moan about it would have been the light in the closet that just never seemed to go out and was hard to sleep with. But apart from that I had a great room with a great view.

Probably the best fish and chips in the area!! Once again fish and chips cooked to perfection. Not greasy at all and nice and crispy batter. Always a good size portion

Won't allow card payments for under £15. Unfair if you're a single person & don't have cash. Ordered, was refused, not even an apology.

Not sure what’s happened but the food used to be fantastic but not so any more we had a very poor meal the other day so much so it was put straight in the bin , sorry won’t be back 🙁

The most awful Fish and Chips. Fish was tasteless with a pale yellow colour. Very much an indication of the fish was not fresh.

Shop has been very nicely updated and the food is still top notch.

wow what a terrible shop chips was ok and sausage not bad the quarter pounder was deep fried like the only way you could make it worse was to microwave it the pancake roll was mush the fish was gooey and not flaky at all and the pineapple fritter just tasted of oil I couldn't taste the pineapple and couldn't even swallow it. Don't believe me I recorded it all look on yt English eats

Fish was ok Chips not to bad either nothing to shut about Can’t see why it’s cash only up to £15 when there is another 2 chip shops that takes cards on the way to the cash machine I never have cash so I will not be visiting again

Fresh battered fish and chips. Nice crispy batter Very clean premises and friendy staff. Acceptable prices but taste and quality reighned . Fish and Chips how it should be. They do chicken sausage and all the condiments. It is a must try.

Ordered fish and chips and the fish was weird with a slimey texture. I didn’t eat my fish and gave it to the dog after a mouth full. Husband ate his and was throwing up all night. (Obviously I cannot 100% confirm it was the fish as it’s not been lab tested, but it’s a bit fishy to me) It’s a shame as The kids sauage and chips were all fine and the chips were really lovely that night. But this isn’t the first time people have complaining about the fish from here. I will go back but won’t be getting fish again.

Worse fish and chip shop in Hadleigh ordered chicken mushroom pie and chips and chicken and chips big mistake chips were dry and cold pie was just tossed in the bag and chicken was old and rotten to a point I was sick all night due to food poisoning avoid Gray's chip shop Lenny's down the road much better and cheaper much better value and taste reported Gray's to food safety for the council so if you don't want food poisoning avoid grays

Always call on way home from football do alot more than just fish and chips always freshly cooked always delicious

I’ve not had a bad meal from here. The fish and chips have always been just fine. My only reason for the 4 stars is that they are not very good at predicting order collection times. Now, I understand that you cannot predict how many people are going to drop in between you calling with an order and you collecting, but found myself waiting 40mins on top of a collection time on a Friday night before. The usual is around 10mins. BUT that being said the food is worth the wait. Being busy is always a sign of a good popular chippy too 🙂 My advice is to always call to put your order in and then add an extra 5-10mins on whatever collection time they give you and it’s normally about right.

Good all round service , waiting area spotless.....and the fish n chips were top notch!!

Cod wet and tasteless took one bite and spat it out (obviously had not been properly defrosted before frying) . pealed off top layer of batter to find a puddle of water between the fish and bottom layer of batter. Disgusting 🤢 will not be returning

Nice freshly cooked food which arrived quite quickly. Prices are ok just a shame that they only do a very small selection of children's meals.

Been using this place for years but the standard's and service has been noticeably dropping and the last straw was being served rancid fish that resulted in me becoming sick. Contacted the shop and they offered to refund me for the fish but didn't seem that concerned that other customers could have potentially also had bad fish or contamination etc... Sorry guys but you've lost a customer for poor service and even poorer food !

Well after coming home from Newcastle and paying 21 pound for large cod and chips and large sausage and chips and large rok eel and chips we were very disappointed,not only did we have to wait over half hour which we wouldn't mind we got given all small meals ,the chips were shards and the fish was the size of a small child's shoe ,very much a waste of money and Will not be going back there and neither will the rest of the family who live here don't waste your money

Not overly impressed. Staff seem uninterested. Extortionate minimum payment for cards (who spends £15 on chips?). Chips were "okay" but nothing specially. Would normally choose Lenny's chip shop.

Food cooked to order which is taken and paid for on arrival so make sure your seen if arriving when crowded. You are served as and when food is ready so don’t be confused by later arrival getting theirs first. Varied menu.

Awful service, staff are standoffish borderline rude. Food was mediocre, despite asking for it twice got home to no salt or vinegar.
