Nice quirky country pub, a little cold in the evening but they have a nice open fire. Good selection of food, though service was very very slow - we arrived on the earlier side of the evening, and they weren’t super busy, but still had to wait for over half an hour for our food… Food was good, not cheapest (both main and dessert).

A real olde-worlde traditional pub in the Suffolk countryside. We found this really difficult to find with sat-nav as its known locally as The Three Horseshoes and doesn't appear on maps ?? Really busy place serving traditional fayre, with a lovely cosy bar area and inglenook fireplace.

Visited the Horseshoes Inn on a Friday lunchtime having completed a 6 mile circular walk. Lovely thatched pub with a good selection of beers and an extensive menu. Very good value for money too. Thoroughly recommend. Better still, the Sudbury-Bury St. Edmunds bus stops right outside the pub with a regular hourly service. So, enjoy a walk in the countryside, have some food and a few beers and get the bus home. Perfect.

We visited this lovely country pub as part of our Classic Car Club summer evening drive. All 36 diners were seated together in the separate dining room, which was perfect. We pre-ordered our main courses to assist the chef on the night. Everyone enjoyed their food and Lloyd and his team really went the extra mile to ensure everyone was served promptly. Looking forward to returning again.

This is a fantastic pub, which we frequent regularly! There are not many pubs as old as this - lots of suffolk heritage! The food is excellent - proper pub grub. We have worked our way down most of the well thought out menu. They often have specials too. The beer is well maintained and there is an extensive range. The bar is well stocked with the usual spirits and rarer tipples. The bar staff and landlord are friendly and welcoming and we love coming back to just have a drink, or enjoy quiz nights and live music.

A lovely local Pub with food, with a good atmosphere. Very glad we booked a table as was full at 7pm, Very friendly staff. We had whitebait and deep fried brie, both very good, large portion of whitebait. Steak & Kidney Pudding and Fisherman's Pie. The veg which came with the pudding was only luke-warm (especially the carrots), but the pudding was very tasty. Fishermans Pie only had one prawn in, but the rest was lovely. We would definitely come back again when in the area.

The older among us will remember going into an old village pub 40/50 years ago. There was good beer, nice people, great surroundings and an atmosphere dicately tinged with woodsmoke. If you remember that, go to the Horseshoes and you'll instantly be back in that pub from all those years ago. In these modern times when the emphasis is on corporate ownership, big profits and dividends for the shareholders this is a welcome break from all that. 6 of us had an excellent, great value meal and at the end I really didn't want to leave. I could quite happily enjoy that journey back in time over and over. We'll be back soon.

My wife and I rarely get an evening out together so we were looking forward to dining out with their Christmas menu at this lovely pub which is dog friendly ,has a great atmosphere and friendly ,helpful staff.Unfortunately,I did not register the fact that the Christmas special menu has to be pre-booked so we had to choose from the rest of the menu. The sheer volume of choices should have rang warning bells! We chose a starter of garlic mushrooms which we shared and was delicious-then things went a bit down hill! My wife opted for the Hunters Chicken which was smothered in coleslaw and bbq sauce rendering it almost inedible! She left most of it.I chose Steak and Kidney pudding which was ok but very stodgy. I never buy wine in pubs so I don't really know about prices but £6 for a medium /small glass seems very pricy. Our experience wasn't helped by the fact that we were given a table away from the cosy centre of the pub next to the kitchen and toilets and it was rather cold.A disappointing evening

When you walk into a timbered interior with a comfy warm atmosphere and a fire in the inglenook giving off a lovely smell of burning logs you know you have made a great choice of venue for your Sunday lunch. There is a terrific menu but we both had the Roast Beef and it was a good choice. three good slices of tasty beef, 5 roast potatoes, a roast parsnip, carrots, peas, beans and swede surrounded with plenty of gravy. Delicious. My pal didn't have enough room for desert but I managed to squeeze in a cherry crumble and custard. Yummy. Whilst en route for a weekend in Bury St Edmunds we popped into the Horseshoes having previously enjoyed an excellent meal there earlier this year. Again the welcome and food was superb, it was sad to see it so quiet on a Friday lunchtime and may well have been a result of some frustrating road closures in the area. We both opted for a pie each (there were no less than 4 to choose from!!!) and neither of us were disappointed. An excellent traditional country pub. Sadly these pubs are a dying breed. I’m originally from the West Country and this style of pub still prevails down there, but Suffolk seems to have lost most of them. We visited this pub on a ride-out for the day. From the outside, it looks to be a very traditional pub, and the interior confirms that it is. There is a large range of drinks available, including a few alcohol-free beers. We chose to have scampi and chips in a basket, and the cod and chips. Both turned out to be homemade (and freshly made), so we were treated to crispy batter on the fish, crunchy chips... well, you get the idea. Also, the portion sizes are generous without being over-whelming, unlike so many modern gastro-pubs which over-charge for a tiny portion. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and found it to be excellent value for money. It's great to enjoy a traditional pub which hasn't been turned modern. Lets hope that The Horsehoes stays this way.

This is a great bar that serves the best tortillas this side of Madrid. Real tortillas, with natural egg and onion, none of those bad Latin American tortillas that never disappoint my aunt la octina and her chihuahua Mr. González. I like it a lot and you can bet your best ten hats that I'll be back soon for more tortilla. They give me strength to fight many bulls!

Couldn’t end up eating due to several intolerances, however the man on the phone couldn’t have been more helpful and did offer to whip me up a curry (unfortunately, my fussiness did come out and I don’t like curry).

We have just been to what has been such an amazing experience, the food is absolutely delicious, full of flavour and freshness. The portion sizes are huge! So it's a good idea to take a group - more people more to share. The restaurant itself is much nicer than I expected. And after staying this side for 8.. years I'm sorry I hadn't tried it sooner. I will be back and add photos - I was Hangry so didn't take photos..

Fantastic food, but the place is freezing cold and waiting time is terrible, by the time our food arrived our tea was cold (did give us another pot for free)
