Went for breakfast. It was a busy Sunday as they had local veterans in. Still good service and good food.

Went for breakfast had the pancakes with berries and maple syrup gorgeous. Sat in the courtyard, lovely sitting, staff friendly and helpful. Nothing but praise well worth a visit our first time but will be back

One of our very best cafes! Very friendly & welcoming & dog friendly to which is a huge plus, the coffee is great & their crispy bacon rolls & chips are delicious 😋

Great service by pleasant and good natured staff. Was really pleased to be able to order items on the breakfast menu well after midday. A very individual and interesting place to meet. Cakes looked good but will have to return one afternoon to sample them !

We used to love coming here for the breakfast however standards seem to have slipped in recent months. Bacon is always very well done and sometimes very cardboard like. Portions seem to have shrunk and the place does need some maintenance carrying out. Issues with items ordered not being received. Now looking at going elsewhere.

Don't be deceived by first impressions this cafe is a lot bigger than it looks. If all tables appear to be in use move further inside there are more tables upstairs and a large garden at the back. The whole place is full of old world charm befitting of the lovely market town of Hadleigh. We just had tea & cake and can recommend the chocolate & orange sponge as well as the lime & elderflower sponge. All cakes are homemade and a little bit different from the average. There is also breakfast and a light lunch menu. The service was good and the staff friendly and very welcoming. My third visit and would thoroughly recomend.

only went for a quick coffee, couldn;t have cake as am on diet [which is a real shame as it all looked tasty]... but we went outside and sat in the garden which was a real pleasure.

Crabtrees has a lot of potential, but, unfortunately due to improper management I don't think that it will ever get to where it needs to be. The manager will publicly berate and chastise his staff over the smallest of incidents whilst not actually seeming to offer any expertise on how to improve in the future. It's incredibly uncomfortable sitting in a café where the manager has no issue in doing this and really shows unprofessionalism on his part. The food itself is good and the staff try their best. I won't be going back.

The man who owns it is so kind. Very rare to find. I would go to crabtrees every day if I could.

Visited today for lunch, staff were very friendly and the food was lovely. The weather was good so we sat outside in the garden where tables are set out in little bays. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Lovely little place, have been before. Actually significantly bigger than I realised, with additional seating upstairs and circa 50 outside!Has quite a limited menu but enough for you to find something you like and plenty of home made cakes on offer, too. Good choice of teas and coffees, as you’d expect. Very friendly people. Not particularly disabled friendly but my dad managed the first section, after a small step inside. He probably wouldn’t have managed the steps to the toilet. We just had bacon sandwiches and tea on this occasion. Good bacon and great bread. Will come again.

Disappointing. Came for brunch with a friend and had to clear our own table, after an hour of not receiving our food and our waitress walking past us several times I went to ask where it was. She asking us what we ordered (salmon and scrambled egg and bacon and brie (20 mins cooking time max)) she went to the kitchen to discover the order handnt been put on. 20 minutes late our food arrived 1 was wrong. It got taken back to the kitchen and she returned with the right one and said the other would be 10 to 15 mins. I sent it back as we wanted to eat at the same time. When it finally arrived right 1 hour and 30 mins late the one that came out correct had clearly been left on the side and was hard and cold. The customer service throughout was appalling. No one asked us if we wanted another drink despite our drinks being empty by the time our food arrived. Even after all of this we decided to stay for a hot chocolate. Unfortunately 30 minutes past and not one of the 3 members of staff that had walked past us several times bothered to clear our plates. We decided to go to jet lounge and that was 5 star service, greeted at the door, table instantly wiped clean, friendly happy staff, and they were really attentive. Will be going here in future, their menu was in a completely different league. This could have all been avoided with our plate being cleared and an offer of complementary drinks.

Quality of food is fab but after not visiting for a while found front of house a little tired looking and service was a little bit hit and miss.

The food was alright but the waiters and waitresses seemed to not know what they were doing. We only got served because we reminded them and they forgot our chips. I heard them talking and we're not the only people who have had this so maybe they need someone with restaurant experience to help them out?

Unbelievably slow. Sat for 30mins waiting for two sandwiches. My wife ordered a cappuccino that never arrived. Really disappointing

Such a lovely little place that has a great atmosphere ...the gardens are also a lovely place to sit in the warmer months ...nice home cooked food too and they make a great cuppa !!

Had a girly meet up with my friend and took my granddaughter we both declined the delicious cakes but choose potato wedges and chips both lovely hot and crispy coffees were lovely too

Beautiful coffee shop situated on the high street. Stunning and relaxing garden. The coffee and food is amazing and they have an excellent selection of seasonal drinks. The staff are warm and welcoming and the prices are reasonable too. Beautiful setting.

We have visited this Cafe before and it was our first choice when travelling down to the Motorcycle Show at Copdock with friends - and we had recommended they try it for themselves.Left feeling we had done them a real disservice. There were 8 in our party and we all ordered at the same time, but paid individually. Drinks came out sporadically over 20 mins. One cooked breakfast then arrived (but without the sausage). This was eaten before anything else arrived at the table.Two sausage baguettes arrived after another 10 mins. My friend asked for mustard, and this was duly brought to the table - but with no cutlery to put it on the sausages - so another trip for the waitress!Then after another 15 mins two more sausage baguettes turned up - an error because we had obviously already had them! This was followed by scambled egg then 4 orange juice (when we had already been served two - and then eventually toast and 5 cooked breakfast - when we were waiting for 4! It seemed to be a complete shambles with no one having any idea of what was going on and at no time did anyone more senior come out to offer an explanation or apologise. I felt really let down and embarrassed - plus this all took 1 1/2 hours out of my friends day and our visit to the show.The food was nice - but the service was non existent and the wait unacceptable.

We called here for a Sunday brunch. Excellent produce freshly cooked and served with even better service. I would definitely recommend it and will be back!

Love this coffee shop!! Great food, staff are amazing! My daughter has fatal food allergies and the lady with reddish/brown curly hair couldn't have done more for us. She went above and beyond to find us something my daughter could safely eat! My son is on the spectrum and is very picky with food, again she went above and beyond to help us with finding something he would eat! Wonderful place to go. Family friendly, such a welcoming place, and also will do their utmost to accommodate wheelchairs (my mum is in one). I truly enjoy this coffee shop with my family and never feel out of place here!

My husband and I happened to be in Hadleigh so stopped for breakfast found this little gem. He had full English I had bacon sandwich. Good portion sizes and the ingredients very tasty and well cooked (bit fussy with bacon and it was perfect). Would recommend for breakfast and will go again if in the area. Suitable for couples, families and groups of friends option to eat in or out. Alot bigger then it looks from outside.

Have been visiting crabtrees for years. It remains a pleasure, atmospheric in the most beautiful old coffee house. The gardens are gems and the service excellent.

Myself and a few friends regularly meet here for either breakfast or cake with a drink. Quite limited menu choice, however what you do get is good quality, home cooked food. All homemade where possible, the cakes are gorgeous with an ever changing selection. The staff are fantastic and are very friendly. It’s also set in the most beautiful building, with lots of seating outside too. Highly recommend

Crabtrees is in a beautiful listed building on Hadleigh High Street, full of rustic olde Suffolk charm and character.

Went lunchtime, not too busy waitress service was a little slow. Could do with a few of the little finishing touches for the customers. Had cake and scones but no serviettes brought with them so had to ask. Lovely old building, several rooms to eat and drink in , including upstairs and in the garden. Food very nice and freshly cooked will certainly visit again

My friend and I use this as a venue to catch up, convenient location for us. It was a cold day, and the door was opened/left open quite a bit, which meant it would have been better to leave your coat on.

J'y suis allé avec un collègue boire un thé. J'ai commandé un morceau de gateau au chocolat. Le dit gateau fut décevant. Le crèmage était bien, mais le gateau était sec et manquait de gout. Le thé était bien et le chocolat chaud aussi. Le service fut rapide et très amicale. Il y a une jolie terrasse à l'arrière.

We had a lovely lunch in this relaxing cafe/restaurant. We have had good cakes here as well. I think in such a small place they work wonders with the space. A great place for a casual lunch & in the summer the garden is a delight.

Does this place ever get cleaned? Relatively grubby place - food on floor, toilet is grotty and not a nice place to sit and eat food in. However my coffee was okay, not the best in town, not hot enough. Plenty of other places to go for better tea & coffee, in faster serving time too.

I went to meet my friend for a catch up and chat. We had to move tables as the front of the cafe was very noisy and dirty with food on the floor. We went into the room at the back which had vacant tables that were full of dirty crockery. We had to ask the waitress to clear the table which she did reluctantly. She didn’t wipe the table which was sticky and full of crumbs. I visited the toilet which had no loo roll and the seat was wet probably due to the fact it is for men and women.

40 mins for 1 tea 1 coffee and 2 pices of cake. Please get some more staff or an new coffee machine service way too slow for second time. Pleant more places to go

Popped in here recently for a coffee and scone. The location of this little restaurant is delightful, Hadleigh has a great deal of character and the venue itself is cosy and interesting.

We popped in here for a hot drink and a cake and it was very good. I had the Millionaires Shortbread and my husband had a chocolate sponge ( a very large bit) both of which were delicious. Waitress service.

Ordered a take out hot chocolate and coffee earlier today. service was good. Drinks were hot. I had the hot chocolate which tasted nice.

The title of this blog is the name of the establishment we visited but for some reason the TripAdvisor site will only accept 'Crabtrees'.

I was looking forward to visiting this cute little cafe last weekend, however, my experience was not as expected. There was nobody at the front of house when I entered so after waiting a few minutes I went through to the back cafe area to find a waiter/waitress. I was given an unpleasant look by a young lady who then went behind the counter and proceeded to serve me. She took my order and payment and I sat outside and waited for my drink and cake (the cake was a positive part, it was delicious and a good selection!). When she gave my partner and I our drink and cake, she said nothing, placed it on the table and walked off. Before we left, I poked my head through the door and attempted to thank the waitress, but again, nobody was there.

I go there each morning for coffee with my friend, staff are brilliant always cheerful and they do a good range of lunches.

It's nice, the food is mostly delicious and perfect for lunch or just a coffee. I like the outside area, the gardens and the ponds. Downside is that it isn't a great place to go with children, it's often crowded and the toilet and upstairs lounge is a bit grotty. But for the nice food it's worth it.

What a pleasant hour I spent hear a couple of weeks ago with a friend. The food was delicious and the staff very friendly, a rare commodity these days. I would highly recommend a visit here. Camembert with onion relish, warm rolls and salad was my choice.

Popped in with a friend. Went to counter to order and told it was waitress service. 15 mins later order taken, another 10 mins for coffee to arrive. Then a further 10 mins for scone to arrive. I didn't need to know that the cafe was interviewing on the day we went. Shocking, sloppy service but nice coffee and scone.

Toll 35 minutes for 2 baguettes which eventually arrived with burnt sausages. Had to ask for the cake we'd ordered half an hour previous which was 99% sponge with little filling. Disappointing all round

My husband & I eat here very regularly but mostly on Sunday mornings & we just love it so much. We generally have bacon sandwiches & fruit scone for after & a tasty well made cappicino, I will just say the bread is delicious & fresh always & thick so I think they could just be a bit more generous with the bacon, it can be rather thin & sparse sometimes.

I visited this place today and am very familiar with it and although I do enjoy the drinks and food they serve, the service needs improving. Without fail every time, I visit I dislike the service. For example, i went to order at the till and the waitress told me to take a seat and she would be over to take my order shortly (fine by me). However, it then took a further 10 minutes for her to come over even though she knew we were ready to order. As a waitress, myself, i understand the pressures of this job. However, she consistently started new tasks instead of taking our order. The wait between the order and getting our drinks was fine though. In a nutshell, this seems to happen every time and it just feels like they've forgotten about their customers. I love the setting of the place and find it to be okay value for money. However, for a much friendlier service I can walk ten seconds down the road to Paddy and Scotts! As much as i want to support my town's independent businesses, i have to feel valued as a customer and not be constantly waiting around.

Situated on the High Street in Hadleigh, Suffolk, Crabtrees was recommended to us by a helpful estate agent - and we were not disappointed. Only open in the morning and afternoon (not the evening, which is a shame) they serve soup of the day, other interesting hot and cold food, drinks etc. Ideal for everyone, young and old. Service is excellent front of house and also from the kitchen. They also have free wi-fi. All the cakes and other naughty temptations are made on the premises and when you see them they are huge! Obviously, you can ask for a small helping or thin slice - but I like to chance it and accept it as it comes! There's plenty of seating, in the front out back and I believe they have a garden, upstairs as well.

So glad we found this gem. Good food and good service! Lovely good quality coffee and very reasonably priced good quality food.

We enjoyed our visit: friendly service and a good atmosphere. There were obvious regular customers and, were we living in the area, we would join them. We had coffee and cake and were spoiled for choice. We settled on Millionaire's Shortbread and Orange Cake: both were delicious and a generous portion.

My Husband and I recently married and had our wedding in different locations in Hadleigh, our cakes from Crabtrees, we wanted cake that people would love to eat, I had always admired the cakes in Crabtree's and we weren't disappointed. We had a Victoria Sandwich, Coffee & Walnut, Chocolate & Lemon Drizzle, they provided boxes for me to transport and they were decorated beautifully. All our guests complimented and said how fabulous they were, Thank you Carl and Sharron.

Happy atmosphere and lovely inexpensive food. Serves breakfasts and light lunches. Great coffee and licensed. The most expensive item on the menu is £7.95 for a home-made quiche with salad, coleslaw and chips! Great looking home-made cakes and scones.

Having lived in Hadleigh and only used Crabtrees for coffee we welcomed the chance to take a guest for lunch yesterday. From the beginning the cashier made it clear that there may be a wait . After placing our order for drinks and three sandwiches we chatted for 10 or so minutes before the drinks arrived. After 35 minutes I asked when the food would be available and was informed that I was told there was a delay. Soon after I was advised 15 - 20 minutes later the food would be ready. Unable to wait that long I paid the bill and was again reminded that I was told that there would be a delay. No apology was remotely offered.

Beautiful court yard to sit and yarn your day away. Food and drinks are lovely.

Went in on a Sunday morning just for coffee. Waitress service, prompt and courteous.

We often travel quite a distance to shop in Hadleigh. Although small, it is perfect. Visit this really lovely cafe for beautiful coffee, lunches and wonderful home made cakes to die for. Also highly recommend their home-made potato wedges. In the summer we sit in the garden (lots of little sheltered areas at the back) and in the winter I have hot chocolate with a good shot of alcohol to keep out the cold! A place for all seasons.

On a sunny Saturday afternoon we sat and had a snack and a beer in their lovely garden at the back of the cafe. They were a little busy and there was a 30 minute wait for our snacks, but otherwise it was great.

Delicious food. Had Brie and bacon toastie with cranberry sauce which I found lovely and also had a delicious chocolate milkshake. Will return.

I've been here once before with my husband and daughter but really thought this time it deserved a review, especially after seeing the couple of recent negative ones, it's always nice to hear other people's experiences.

I took my daughter for lunch as a break from exams at school here and the whole experience from start to finish was appalling. First we waited over ten minutes to place our order, eventually I went to the counter and was told I would be seen shortly. I then explained my daughter had to get back to school by 1.15pm (by now it was 12.45). They took my order, albeit with bad grace, and we then we waited for a bagel, two coffees and a cake. The coffees appeared with a really lovely dark-haired lady but no food. Fifteen minutes later the bagel appeared but still no cake. My daughter ate the bagel quickly as we now had just five minutes before we had to leave. I went to pay as she was finishing and told the blonde lady to remove the cake from the bill as we did not receive it and received an offhand 'sorry'. She then couldn't find our bill and when I tried to tell her what we had received bit my head off.

We love this cafe and on the rare occasions we have free time always pop in for coffee and tea, with a cake of course. There are a couple of seating areas on the ground floor and a large room upstairs. The building is very old and charming with a beautiful secluded garden at the back which is great to sit in if the weather is fine. They have a wide range of teas and coffees and a good selection of cakes. The last time we went they had gluten free cakes on offer too. The staff are always pleasant and helpful.

Stopped here for coffee & cake on our travels what a quaint little café. Beautiful wood beams & floors the outside is just gorgeous aswell could enjoy a few glasses of wine out there.

Same old tired menu, and one teabag in a pot of tea for two? I kid you not. Every item on the menu includes wheat, so no good if you cant eat it.

We enjoyed a nice breakfast but waited ages to be served....there were only 2 people in the cafe. Full English was nice and good value for money. Only down side was cafetieres were small and didn't keep the heat, cold milk offered with coffee and cold toast, the thinnest bread ever! The cafe it's self was very cold and didn't get warm, we stayed a good hour.

We dropped in here this week and we both ate Chilli Beef In a Tortilla Basket with salad. Beef was excellent and how they made that crispy basket evades me. It was dish of the day and it certainly was excellent. I noticed some excellent looking Bacon, Egg, mushrooms, sausages which was a breakfast at lunch time!

Popped in on a Saturday lunch time. We had teas, bacon sandwiches and sausage bagettes. All fresh and tasty. Less options on the menu from when i last want in. But all very nice
