Grayling in Great Yarmouth

Wobbly table, asked to move but waitress was surly grumpy and uncooperative. Finally got another table which was wobbly as well. Then 2 dogs at neighbouring tables decided to have a fight so we walked out. Emailed the pub direct within the hour and still had no response so, staff, fixtures & fittings, dealing with customer and communication all diabolical so you won't be seeing us again (and we will recommend to all the users of our caravan that there are far better places to frequent)

Had a great visit when visiting the area. The staff were all polite and helpful even though it was a very busy bank holiday weekend. Food was hot and tasty and the pedigree was good

Booked for dinner had myself and husband had mixed grill it was lovely cooked perfect and very quick ,service of all staff was super very polite ,helpful highly recommend definitely 5***** to everything

We had booked a table for 4 of us for 14.30hrs April 17th. We didn't get our food until 15.25hrs. I had ordered a mixed grill and asked for the steak to be cooked medium to well done. I couldn't even cut into it using a steak knife. I called the waitress over and showed her the poor quality of the cooking. She did check what I had asked the steak to be cooked to. She took the steak away to try and resolve the problem I had highlighted only to be told the steak couldn't be replaced as all the meals come in fully plated. Very disappointed and wouldn't cross the threshold again!!

Lovely food and great service. Roy was our waiter, he was friendly and helpful. 10/10 service from him.

The poor staff were utterly overwhelmed with the numbers of people, however, they never stopped smiling as they dealt with the crowd. Top marks for Roy who patiently worked through everybody queuing at the bar.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at The Grayling. Our server ,Roy, was hard-working and friendly. Other members of staff were also approachable and equally as devoted. We really enjoyed our meals. Our party had the katsu curry burger, scampi, ultimate veggie burger and mac 'n' cheese. The food was delivered to us quickly and it was delicious! The portions were manageable and the food itself was great. It was warm and perfectly cooked. We all agreed it was phenomenal. For dessert ,we had two sherry cheesecakes , salted caramel cookie brownie and a slice of chocolate explosion cake. While all our desserts were exceptional, the chocolate explosion really took the cake. It was mouthwatering and a true masterpiece. I myself could not finish it. Although the helpful staff provided foil to take the remainder home. Overall the meal was wonderful and we would definitely go again.

Lovely service and great food. Our server, Roy, was exceptionally good with my little boy, engaging with him and making him smile. Not many places make the children feel as welcome as the adults so thank you.

Tried to order using the QR code. All was ok untill the payment process froze. After trying again and still not working, went to bar to order. There was a long que to order with only one person working the till. 10 minuets later another staff member came out and we got to order. Went to the carvery stand and no one was there. After a few minuets a young girl came out who was a little rude, it felt like we were not welcome and had troubled her. She was very abrupt, never made eye contact, no smile and looked thourghly miffed off ! I had the the cold dryed out turkey which went well with the cold veg. Went to get gravy and the dirty sticky gravey pot was empty. Turned to ask for some gravy and she had gone ! I had to look through the kitchen door to get assistance by attracting someones attention. The gravy was replenished in the same old dirty pot. The gravy was awful ! Brown water, thin with no taste. Just awful ! Never been like this before.

From start to finish the experience was fab. Good atmosphere and food was spot on. Would highly recommend. Want somewhere to eat whether on holiday or live local. Definitely use this place!

Roy was really friendly and patient with us as there was 8 of us. Everytime we come to Yarmouth we use the grayling as the food is great and the staff are lovely

From the time we entered the establishment until we finished our meal, we were looked after by friendly & courteous staff. from ordering, until the meal was served. It was hot and delicious. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this establishment to all my family and friend's. A Good 5-star of quality & service. we'll be back soon!

Avoid if you have pet allergies. Dogs under lots of tables in the restaurant, and the carpet is covered in dog hair. Had to leave before ordering food. Didn't realise this was a "dog friendly" restaurant, won't return due to this. Further to your response, My jacket fell off the back of my chair, when I picked it up it was covered in dog hair. Your website actually states that the entire pub is dog friendly. Allowing dogs into a restaurant is disgusting.

Great meal and a great atmosphere. Very welcoming and some really nice staff. Roy was our server and he was brilliant! Interacted with us all and taught us some fun games to play while we waited for our food. Would 100% recommend

Great place! All staff were very helpful & kind, Roy was very welcoming to our group and helpful. The food was great, fast service with lots of options. Great spaces to keep the children entertained with play areas inside and outside. So good we went there twice this week!

Nice family meal, prior to eldest going to university

The meals were better than the last visit, although disappointed you charge more for a carvery on a Sunday / Bank holiday. There were only 2 meats available on the carvery also as others had run out, and it appeared that many options on the menu were running out. My partner was disappointed that they ran out of Pedigree beer. Staff were lovely, service was good. We were also surprised to hear that the kitchen was closing at 8pm, at 7.30pm a member of staff was asked to contact people that had tables booked for 8.30pm, and ask them to come early as the kitchen would be closed if they didn't. Although this didn't affect us, I thought it was very unprofessional, and I would be surprised if those customers ever came back.

Have eaten here previously , food was only ok on this occasion.

Amazing value carvery with decent tasty beef, hot vegetables and decent roast spuds and yorkies. Attantative friendly staff too.

Spent the day at the beach and to finish a perfect family day we stopped here as we heard really great things about the carvery, it did not disappoint, really tasty and staff were more than accommodating

Didn't even get to try the food or experience the Atmosphere. We left after being abruptly spoken to by the Assistant manager.We were told that a food wasnt on the menu and that it couldn't be substituted by another item(with no apology of any kind) and also we couldn't use our bluelight discount despite it saying on the their website it can be used 7 days a week.We won't go here again

Saturday late afternoon. We checked dogs were welcome. Without booking, we arrived at a barely occupied restaurant and were told there was no space for two and a dog. I am very disappointed at the lack of a "can do" attitude. We went to the Queens Head, where we had a great welcome and meal.

Food was good and hot, very accommodating in changing items. Keira, Kayleigh and Roy were fab. Even bringing a birthday cake over to the table and leading the birthday chant

We would like to say a big thank you to Roy for his warm welcome today. We had a meal and various drinks whilst we were waiting for my husband to be discharged from a nearby hospital. He allowed us to spend time at our table and reassured us we were fine as the restaurant wasn't busy. Made a difficult situation less stressful. Thank you, Roy

I just fancied a roast after a long day of pre ops... and it fit the bill perfectly. There were no issues being a lone diner, and it was lovely

We attend the restaurant as a celebration for my daughter's 7th birthday. We booked a table for 24 people including 5 children and made the restaurant aware of the reason for our visit in advance. Despite this, we were allocated less than 2 hours at our table. We had no starters and with people still chewing their last mouthfuls of dinner, a waitress came over to inform us we had 15 minutes left before they needed the table, just an hour and a half after we arrived. We barely had time to sing happy birthday and present our daughter with her cake while our family felt pressured to be putting their coats on to leave. It took several complaints to the staff from us before we were informed we could stay but by this time the waitress had issued several warnings to leave and completely killed the mood for us. With such a big party and celebrating also, the profit The restaurant could have made from us was substantial but the strict time line and pushiness of the staff inhibited this and made my daughters birthday celebration feel not so special. The food overall was nice and one of the waiters (sorry I didn't catch your name) was lovely and very attentive, going above and beyond by providing support and extra tissues when one of the children was sick, and offering to take photos and carry the cake. Bottom line is, I would return for a standard lunch or quick dinner but if your looking to celebrate for an occasion, this is not your place.

We had a 60th birthday for a family friend and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating, Toni was amazing in particular! The building is clean and tidy and the food was spectacular! Would definitely recommend to friends and family!

The staff especially kayleigh is Always attentive, friendly and requests always catered for, food is ready fairly quickly and your not left with finished dirty plates in front of you for long,food is hot and tasty, also being a dog friendly place is a bonus

Had a couple of really nice meals here. The service from Kirby and Gary was friendly and efficient. We will be going again I’m sure.

5* for the starter 3.5* for my main 10* for the dessert Service was awful. We got there are at 130. Wasnt told how to order had to go and find out. Felt ignored by the staff, and the first person we saw i felt was very rude. Apparently it had been manic but when we got there there was only 5 tables occupied. Our table was veryyyy sticky. Cant fault the manager he dealt with our complaint about ny friends burnt/very overdone food absolutley perfectly. It is def a hit or miss place with food and service. Wouldnt rule out going again but i also wpuldnt rush to go vack. The prices are very good

The meal served was so removed from the meal description on the menu I read the menu again to make sure I’d ordered the right thing. Dried up Beans and a salad of 3 slivers of tomato 4 quarters of cucumber a slice of onion and some limp iceberg lettuce not the Mixed Salad Leaves, Red Pepper, Kale, Brown Rice and Soya Beans with Cucumber Tomatoes and Red Onion advertised on the Menu.

I ordered fish and chipd. it was very overcooked and dry it took 40 mins for me to finally get my food. my husband had finished his long before mine arrived. disappointed on the service . Previous visits have been fine but not a good experience this time. 👎👎

Wonderful food with generous portions. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I've been making regular outings with my family for a while because we always have a great time. Both the carvery and menu options go down wonderfully. A big shout out to John for always giving his all to make the experience worth going out for.

What a great night. My wife's birthday so with two friends we easily booked a table online. We were dealt with very swiftly on arrival and once choosing our meal we went to bar to book. We were really pleased with it. We had a request on one of thd meals that was dealt with smoothly and the drinks quickly delivered. The food arrived in good time and was excellent. We all had Hunters Chicken and it was really good. The staff were all superb and we will definitely be back again. We'll done team.

Kids absolutely loved their time here, food is good value for money for a family. Great option after a busy day when you do not want to cook and our host Roy was wonderful with the kids and ensuring our food was out in good time

Great service- we came earlier than our reservation was and they gave us a table, quick order and easily updated food preferences, food was amazing and it came quite quickly. I am very happy with my last 6 visits there, definitely will come back again soon

Nice clean and friendly. Really enjoyed The meal was really Filling and plenty. Roy looked after us from arrival to when we finished. Due to being on crutches he offered to bring drinks to table for us.

Worst experience ever in there waited over an hour and 30 mins for mains because according to them it was due to the fact we had 2 starters, kids were screaming and hungry cancelled got a refund

We were warmly welcomed and shown to our reserved table. We were asked about allergies and given information on how to order. The staff were friendly. Food came in a timely manner and was freshly cooked. Food was well presented and we both enjoyed our different dinners. Ordering was quick and easy and there was a good choice of both food and drink available.

We went to the bar to order food and the server behind the till was moody and didn't help with ordering drinks as we asked for what drinks they had and he just pointed towards the bottles behind him not helpful 😑

Really good pub grub, staff very helpful! My mrs is on crutches and made table available so she could keep her leg extended. And even offered to help bring drinks over to table. Tryed to order on app and couldnt adjust anything so found it easier to order at the bar. Foods really good very filling and food adjusted to suit our needs

As we arrived through the door we were greeted by a cheerful staff member. They kindly gave us a choice of seating, asked about any allergies and explained the ordering process. Decided to order via the app. All straight forward and easy to use. Our food arrived promptly and was nice and hot, freshly cooked. Very pleased with our food and the service we received .

Nice restaurant. Similar prices and food selection to a wetherspoons. Nice cakes available for dessert. This has a lovely nature area next to it too. Update: visited again... Table was dirty and unwiped (venue was not busy) ... Yorkshire puddings were rock hard and biscuit-like. Burger had an amazingly stale roll. Rest of the meals were tasty. Update: visited twice again. Food and carvery was excellent.

As a local family, we haven’t been to the grayling in about 2 years as last time the food was horrible and we just didn’t enjoy our time - this time the food was so much better and is probably one of the best carvery’s around Great Yarmouth that we have been to!! Amazing food, and good atmosphere - nothing to fault!!
