Really rude staff! Asked for a second tray instead of them placing the last portion of fish and chips on top of the rest. Was given the most disgusting dirty look by the woman serving. She then proceeded to watch vigilantly as I used the salt and vinegar (I like a lot but weren't aware there was a limit)! All while talking to another member of staff in another language. Not sure if she was talking about us but were made to feel really uncomfortable. Love gravelys but would never use this one again and would definitely not recommend!

Staff was just so rude. I used this every time I went to White Rose and always ordered fish cake butty really good value and great tasting . We asked for one to be told, "Can you not read they are not on the menu bored by the polish rude woman on the till and just told order something else we are busy . So rude and would never be using it again after how was spoken too need to train staff on how to treat customers and customer service.

It is quite a long time since I was here and how things have changed. The plates are paper, the knives and forks are plastic and tea is served in a plastic cup.The fish and chips are still excellent but £1:40 for a small portion of peas is not on.

One of the staff made an elderly lady collect her dinner from the counter from the other end of the eatery...instead of taking it to her.....the staff member walked across to tell her instead of taking it to her....very bad service absolutely no manners or respect for customers especially the elderly

£8 for fish and chips which are served on paper party plates with plastic knives and forks. 30p for tomato sauce as well. Absolutely bonkers. Instead, nip to Maccies at the other side of food court, grab a snack and call at a proper chippy on the way home.

Christmas shopping and this place was the least busy........soon realised why. Over priced, tasteless food and average service. We ordered fish and chips, sausage and chips and curry sauce/mush peas, plus a side of onion rings. The fish was average, the chips not crispy, the mushy peas and curry sauce were very watery and worst was the onion rings which were cheap frozen onion rings? I mean your in a fish and chip shop, it's not a big deal to slice a few onions and dip them in batter and deep fry them? Very disappointed!

Over priced food. No scraps so tbh it's not fish and chips without them. Staff are touching their face and nose and not washing there hands. Yes they wear gloves but ibwas there for 30mins if not more and not one did hand hygiene. I asked for halal fish and it was swimming in oil and could not taste the fish because of all the oil. I used to like this place but since new ownership it has gone down in the drain. I will not recommend there to anyone. This is the oil as you can see.

This is the 3rd time I have been in the past month with my family at just before 7pm and they refused to make any fish cakes. The staff are appalling the money they are losing the business due to laziness of not wanting to cook. I have been going to this fish shop since it began in Leeds market. I will not be going to the white rose one ever again !

Staff begin closing up 50 minutes before closing. Refused to fry fish and a sausage. Turned away 7 or 8 people whilst I sat with my daughter who was eating chips. One member of staff even moved a woman with 2 young children whilst eating their meals to another table so she could clean that area. Didn't try the food but service needs real improvement.

Graveleys are a long established Fish and Chip outlet, originally located next to Leeds market, before opening a fast food outlet in the White Rose Shopping centre. Although only a small cafe style seated area up in the food court area, with a limited menu, the Fish and chips are up to Graveleys excellent standard, with golden brown fresh chips and lovely flaky white cod cooked in a crisp golden batter.

Attended at 5.20pm on 20/3. Served by one young lady who was pleasant. One other member acting quite childish with other staff members and talking slow. When I asked if my fish butty special came with chips..it did say on the board it did. She said it did not and was quite blatantly rude. She then continued to talk to a colleague , clearly about my query. Apart from this childish behaviour the food was great. I did not bother challenging it...what's the point.

We came here for tea on Saturday evening before going to watch a film and it was delicious. Yes it's a bit if a wait as everything is cooked to order but it's well worth the wait. We got 2 small fish and chips, a small fish and a gravy, a bottle of water and a can of coke. It all came to just over £17 which I think is ok for a weekend treat. The fish and batter was so crisp and fresh, and the chips were also lovely and piping hot!! It's well worth a visit and we will definitely be back again, maybe next weekend of were around.

Quick review as it was a shopping trip and it was just there. So took my little brother shopping well for a pair of levis for me and he wanted to go to a shop that was near a small food court. And I was getting hungry so it was either Burger King, nando's or fish and chips the other two I didnt want however the fish and chips looked good so thought why not. Glad I did. It was hands down one of the better fish and chips I've had in years. You can tell they've been doing it for a while. Made with love. Sorry didnt take pics on the trip.

Visited for a special meal and left feeling very disappointed. On arrival we were shown to our table and given menus , on the Facebook site they offer a free voucher for a glass of wine which I asked to redeem - wish I hadn’t bothered , the wine was ok but the waiter obviously hadn’t been briefed about the offer and took three trips back and forward to presumably see the manager before it was ok’d ... embarrassing really Food wise , I ordered tempura prawns from the specials menu served with a ‘Japanese dipping sauce’ £10.95 for five chewy prawns and a vile concoction of mayo and soy sauce ?! The prawns had not even been deveined - terrible. The bread basket was tremendous for £2 though , wished I had just had that to start as it came with a good sized pot of delicious pate. From serving our food no one came by to check everything ok so I was somewhat bemused when I mentioned to the waiter that the dipping sauce was awful and he said they could have changed it - yes that would have been nice if you’d bothered to come and ask if we were enjoying our meal ! Husband had Piri piri langoustines and prawns , really tasty spicy sauce but no langoustines just tiny prawns and about half a dozen full cloves of garlic. Onto mains , sea bass for me and mussels for the husband - my fish and accompaniments had not been seasoned at all , all the fish tasted of was oil. My husbands mussels had not been cleaned properly , they were covered in barnacles and he found a couple of beards - for the price paid the lack of attention to detail was not acceptable. Asparagus and chips as sides , the spears of asparagus were cooked perfectly but the chips were hard and cold. The table was half cleared before deserts were delivered , I had to ask for the remaining dishes to be taken away as I’m not keen on eating puddinr with stagnating mains on the side. Lemon posset was faultless and it was a huge portion of sticky toffee pudding , very indulgent and presented beautifully. At £6.25 initially thought they were a bit overpriced but well worth it when they arrived. £84 bill for three courses , one and a half lagers and a bottle of mineral water. Probably what we would expect to pay at a good seafood restaurant but certainly not for the quality of food and service experienced - we would not recommend it at all

Firstly - cannot complain with the service, food or prices. All great. However it was really troubling to see that they give out plastic knives and forks and use styrene plates for every order. Plastic causes huge environmental problems and it would be great if Graveley's could consider the impact this policy has.

We were a party of 5, one local and 4 from Scotland. We had a wonderful meal here, everything was of the highest quality from the huge sharing starter platter to the wonderfully cooked fish and chips, great desserts and high quality wine. Great service as well, done with a big smile, my wife even got a free pair of reading glasses as she had forgotten hers! This has to be one of the best fish and chip restaurants in Britain! Go there you will love it.

My wife and I went to Graveleys for dinner this evening and we both agreed it was the best fish and chips we have had in a long long time. The fish was white and succulent with a soft and light batter and the chips were hot tasty and golden. We chose a Chinese curry sauce to go with it.The meal was excellent. My wife can be fussy over fish and chips but she was gushing over this. The restaurant was clean and the tables were cleared and cleaned immediately they become vacant. We have no hesitation in highly recommending this place and we will be back again with no doubt about it.

On a Friday lunchtime in the mid 80's I always used to call at 'Graveley's' George Street ,at the side of the Leeds Market ,and enjoy their fish and chips outside in newspaper. ( They're still there by the way unless the new 'Victoria Gate' sweeps them away ! )30 + years later ,and for the first time since then, I've re-discovered them in the 'White Rose Centre' Leeds. My memories of their 80's fish and chips were very good and I'm delighted to say they haven't lost their touch .My wife and I sit down here regularly always requesting lightly battered, as I prefer the fish to the batter. The quality and flavour of both fish and chips are excellent. In Leeds they are a long established name from the 60's and I see they are now spreading their wings geographically.People of a certain age may say fish and chips don't taste the way they did but they're "Great At Graveley's" !

Just popped in for a quick lunch now that they have re-opened with their own seating area. It's not really a restaurant, but more like a take-away with seating (food served in boxes with plastic cutlery) as you would expect in a food court, but at least they have proper tables and chairs. The fish and chips were totally up to the expected quality of their other establishments with everything freshly cooked and hot - not left sitting around for ages under the lamps. Not the cheapest fish and chips in the world but certainly amongst the best, and prices are reasonable. They have quite a large menu and have a pensioners' special in the afternoons. Staff very friendly and efficient. Apparently they also do breakfasts but didn't see the menu for this.Only gripe is that the salt & vinegar are on the servery counter which is a bit inconvenient if you need to add more during the meal - for the small cost it would be better to have bottles/sachets in the dining area.Other than that a first class meal!

Had fish and chips here on a busy day at The White rose centre. Not too busy in the restaurant which can be a bad sign, clearly a wrong sign. Think this is the nicest fish and chips I've had in a very long time! Great value too. Hopefully the other Graveleys places will be just as good if not I will have to head over to this one a few more times. Both of us REALLY enjoyed our very hot and very nice fish and chips. Definitely recommend and definitely want to go back... Now!

We tried the relatively new Graveleys at the Leeds White Rose Shopping Centre as we had been impressed by the quality of Fish and Chips at other Gravely's restaurant. As this was in a shopping centre food court, we did not have particularly high expectations, however we were wrong, the Cod and batter were as goods and tasteful as any other Graveleys restaurant, despite the cardboard tray.

This brunch was utterly terrible, so overpriced. The brunch cost £40 which is way more than any other bottomless brunch in leeds. The drinks were very weak and after having many of them can confidently say contained a trace of alcohol, the drinks weee also distasteful and not what you would expect after paying £40. Some of the staff were pleasant however some were very miserable parading around with a drooped look on their face. The music was so loud that you had to shout at anyone you wanted to speak to and the venue was tacky and cheap. Would not recommend.

I've been coming to this fish and chip shop for years. Since I was a young child and we used to visit the chemic pub. I'm heartbroken to say the least. It's a shame to see such a lovely little fish shop go down the toilet. I have just got fish and chips twice, battered sausage, 2 breadcakes and 2 cans of pop. I couldn't even eat all mine. The chips were black/brown and tasted like they had been re-fried from yesterday and not even cooked properly. The fish tasted like it was days old and had been re-fried possibly a few times. The batter (which had always been my favourite part of the fish) which wasn't really batter, it tasted worse than the breaded fish from asda. I will not be going back as this once thriving fish and chip shop is now a deserted one all since it was taken over by new management.
