Pizza was heated in the oven after sitting in the freezer and was drenched in sauce. Staff were rude and food came separately, even when ordered in the same meal. Chips were unsalted and stale. All around a horrible experience.

Soggy, cold and bogging pizza. If you thought that was bad, the chips were even worse, cold and lacking flavour. £20 for a pizza and chips of that standard is absolutely shocking. Not only was the food terrible, the staff didn’t want to do their job. Definitely wouldn’t recommend.

£25 for pizza meal deal and hot chocolate. Everything overpriced. Pizza came without the sides. Sides were delivered to the table 10 minutes after, cold. Would not recommend.

Pizza was awful, rock hard crust and barely edible. Chips were cold and unsalted. Onion rings stick together and doughy. Expensive and disappointing

Food wise the most terrible restaurant ever. Too bad since the zoo is a beautiful park. We ordered soup that tasted terrible but the bread was not baked properly. In addition, the nachos were very dirty. Unfortunately, we have left everything behind and hope that the money will go to the animals. If only we had read the reviews...

Food was awful, Ordering food from the App was a freaking nightmare, where has the customer service gone, All the waitresses had that I don't want to be here look, Nearly broke my Teeth on the rock hard Pizza crust, Looking around the restaurant all you can see is people struggling to order food from their mobile phones and the waitresses just watching everyone doing it, it was a freaking Joke. Ruined our day at the Zoo

£13 for the worst nachos I've ever had, how do you even mess them up? Barely any sour cream, no guacamole, beef was okay but had the wrong seasoning you'd expect for nachos. It's below average food for above average prices, awful. £33 two people, two nachos and two drinks, actually atrocious. I can only hope the money goes towards the animals at least.

Shocking service lets done the ok food. Dirty glasses, ordering app not working, 40 minute wait for food, rude staff. We were charged £2 for some sauce that was embarrassingly small and we had to chase twice!

Adequate but severely limited choice of food, mostly just things children will eat.

This restaurant is child friendly and the food is relatively good.

I visited the zoo with my 6yo niece this weekend. On arrival we thought we would nip over to the restaurant for lunch first. It was very busy, but we got a seat and ordered via the QR code on the menu. I chose to do this and skip my membership discount because the queue was quite long and very slow to serve. Our estimated wait for food was around 25 minutes. 1 hour and 20 minutes and 2 chases later, it arrived. It was not terrible food but not worth the almost £30 that 2 burgers and 2 juices cost, and definitely not worth the wait. By the time we ordered, waited, and ate, we actually missed seeing half the animals in the zoo because it got too late. My niece told me to pack a picnic for next time instead.

The food is nice but a bit expensive and the portion is small. The pizza is small so it is not good for sharing.

The food was terrible. I can't remember when I ate something so awful. Neither the wife nor the daughter finished the burger. If you like pizza, don't eat it here.

Food is nice, very overpriced but expected at this sort of place, very fast service plenty of staff to help but lacking in any sort of atmosphere which was fine for us anyway as we just wanted to be done quickly to return to the venue

Awful portion sizes for the mac and cheese. Kids and adults portions are the same however the adults costs £4 more! The only difference is that the kids have chips and adults have two small garlic breads. Not happy!

It's a simple cafeteria. Not too many options besides paninis and pizza.

Very bad food. Food was served cold, and without a hint of flavour. We could not finish the food. We ordered the Prime Scottish 6oz juicy beefburger, and it was like dried up, overcooked meatball. Fries are too large and undercooked. And the place is more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. Would not recommend.

Went in for lunch paid over £50.00 The food was shocking 2 mac n cheese was served hard and cold so asked for different ones they came were better but cold and garlic bread was hard as hell an could be used as a frizby. Only decent thing we got was a pizza as the shared natchos mince meat was stone cold. Really dissapointed.

Went in here with my partner. Quite a few options on the menu. I ordered the Veggie Pizza ( £11 ) and he ordered the Scottish juicy Beefburger (£11.50) We did find all Zoo restaurants are quite pricey all over the UK but we think this one is our favourite yet and for once we paid for the quality which was good. My partner really enjoyed his burger and my pizza was a decent size. Chips come with the burger and they were nicer than ones we had in a "premium chippy" the day before in Edinburgh. It's clean and the staff were friendly and there are toilets inside as well. Lots of seating. Would visit again 😊👍

Nice stop during a visit to Edinburgh Zoo. Orders arrived quickly, and hot chocolate was nice! Although it would've been nice for the cheese to have been melted on the cheesy chips.

I wanted to treat my mum to a decent meal in a restaurant but first off this is not a restaurant it's nothing more than a cafe selling sub standard food at expensive prices. They make you pay in advance by c/c The hamburger was brickhard and the single leaf of lettuce under the bun was rotten. We had to pay 30 gbp for 2 burgers and 2 portions of chips and 2 cans of cola. Some of the chips were blackish. We ended up paying 30gbs for 2 cokes and a downright negative experience We left the burgers and chips there without causing a fuss and just left. Either go to the fish and chip shack next door or take a packed lunch. This place is a no go.

It's OK. The menu is very light and limited in offerings.

Service was really nice. I've order fish fingers in a bun with chips & baked beans for my toddler. The only thing eatable was baked beans. Fish fingers was just disgusting, gummy and cold. It was extremely hot day today so I'm only hoping that the quality has been accidentally compromised as a result of it.....

Food was awful. Frozen beef burger on a dry stale bun served with undercooked frozen chips. My child disliked the margarita pizza. To be fair it didn't look nice. Do not bother going unless you want to waste your money on sub standard food.

Not what I expected, not much choice of meals. It was raining so I thought it would be busy but there was only 6 other customers which actually made the atmosphere very cold and unfriendly, although the staff themselves were friendly and helpful.

Its a lonley place... it has no signature meal, no character. The meals are nothing in comparison to the zoo. My meal was cold served chicken breast on Salat, not decorated, more loveless was not possible. For that the price was ... long thing shirt I would not recommend it to anyone. My idea: It could have so much more you not even need to think about anything just take the newest animals and use them in a meal. (Their names not the animals!!!) E.g. a Meerdog burger, or a veg. Pandas plate. Just combine what you have in the zoo with the restaurant, it's that easy. And do a lil bit more with signs because we didn't catch the restaurant at the first try.

Food was suprisingly good. I've been to many zoos and museums with sub standard eating areas this was a nice change.

Loaded chips for a place that calls itself a restaurant to serve chips, cheese, cold bacon and jalapeños on a paper tray forget it. Limited food choice, joyless, defo wasted £16 suggest avoid like the plague.

Food was edible but not great. Quite a limited menu, which I do understand. Got the unlimited drink but you're given the tiniest cup possible. After walking around the zoo for a few hours you need more than that.

Took our family for lunch whilst at the zoo. We ordered via the qr code we were given. We had 2 soups, half kids margareta pizza, 1 x plate of chips, 3 x cheesy chips. Drinks were 4 cans of juice a tea and a hot chocolate. The total came to £45 and it indicated a 20 minute wait. After half an hour I approached the counter for an update and was told our order was next. After 40 minutes had passed from placing the order the food arrived- but no drinks. I had to go back and ask for the drinks "to go' as we had finished the food. The till point had a line if people waiting.... not to place orders but to complain they didn't have their orders. Earlier we bought 4 x coffees and 4 x standard doughnuts for a measily £17....... take your own picnic as there are plenty of seats.

Staff fab , food barely warm , it was very poor for the price. Burger was awful. Won't do that again ..

Restaurant is a strong name for this eatery. You have to order yourself from the counter (or via an app). The food was quite tasty but cold. It was quite quick to arrive. For example, on cheesy chips the cheese wasn't melted and bacon was barely cooked. The pizza was over cooked, yet cold on arrival. The vegetarian chilli and nachos tasted so good! But again cold and the cheese wasn't melted. If you're a member you get a discount.

Brilliant place to eat. Excellent service. Excellent food. What more could you ask for.

Food wasn't amazing but probably what to expect from a restaurant in a Zoo, the hot chocolate was amazing though - thoroughly recommed having one of those with your meal.

Found this very underwhelming, it's a restaurant to take your kids to as the food is relatively cheap, but for adults I think you will be disappointed, I didn't enjoy it at all and found the interior to be cold and unwelcoming.

Did not expect much, but as soon as we got in the door the welcome was perfect. We were a bit awkward with a toddler and a baby, but alterations were made and all was well. Ordering was a bit tricky through the app, but it came quickly and was far better than expected. The coffee was exceptional. It is expensive, but worth every penny and the best experience eating out in about 2 years.

Visited here yesterday during a visit to the zoo. The weather was poor so there are few options but they seem to just base the poor effort on the fact most people visiting have few options and are unlikely to return so it doesn’t matter how bad it is. £9 for a burnt pizza and fish fingers were by far the worst We’ve ever had. My son isn’t a fussy eater but he couldn’t stomach them and left most of it. Truly terrible. If your really desperate then you have few other choices but I’d avoid this place at all costs if possible!

Can't believe how good this place is for a park (zoo) restaurant. Great food, plenty for non meat eaters too. Not the cheapest, but don't mind paying a few pounds more per head for better quality food and coffee etc. really good service, well organised, friendly staff. Very clean too.

They call this a restaurant!!! I had the Scottish beef burger with Lothian haggis. Very poor. The bun was massive compared to the burger. and so dry, possibly stale. The burger was tasteless and gritty. The haggis on top which I didn’t think I would like was actually ok. The salad was the tastiest thing on the plate !!!! My wife had a chicken salad which she said was so cold that it had little taste and had probably been frozen. She left most of it. We both had tea which also was poor. All this for an exorbitant price. Avoid if you can. I wish that I had checked Tripadvisor before.

Was informed by staff that they offer a gluten free pizza which I required due to being coeliac but ended up being given a regular pizza which ended up causing adverse effects.

I ordered the burger and fries and I get a frozen Findus brick and chips with black rot shining through.They charge you 50 p for the mayo too . I left everything on the plate and just left without causing a fuss but really do your self a favour and avoid this place like the plague. Either go to the fish and chip van up a bit or bring your own.Grasslands is a definite no no

A total RIP OFF. They make you pay in advance by C/C and I'm surprised there's not any bust ups between public and staff when you see the non quality food they serve you. I ordered a beef burger and fries and they gave me a soggy burger bun and charcoaled Findus brick with a brownish 2 day old leaf of salad. Needless to say I lost out on 20 pounds and left the whole plate of non food there. Do not go near this place with a barge pole.

I ordered a Beef burger and by the description it seemed it would have been a real beef burger tasty and succulent instead I get a soggy burger bun like it had been stored under someone's armpit for 15 mins and a leaf of salad that even a rabbit would disregard then the actual burger was a frozen Findus charcoaled brick that would break your jaw in half. The service was no service and they make you pay by c/c in advance with 6 bodies behind the counter just staring and talking small talk. Stay well clear of this place better off going to the fish & chip shack up a bit at least you get fed and you don't bin 30 pound to maintain 6 fat bodies.

I liked it! You can't have high standards in a place like this. It's a restaurant with families in mind and in general anyone who visits the zoo (duh, it's in Edinburgh Zoo grounds) so obviously don't expect to have your mind blown away. The quality was good, the staff was kind and quick, and we were good to go to finish our trip at the zoo. You wouldn't ask for more. 10/10!

Why is it, that zoos so rarely have good food places? This place has been disappointing in many ways. Personnel did not seem to be too interested in service and please teach your staff not to serve a hot soup over a small child - this is sooo dangerous!! The menu was not very appealing, so we ordered fries and fish fingers. The fries were not tasty at all, it was a challenge even finishing them. Also the fish fingers were all but tasty.

Fab service and decent food, better than you would expect at a zoo. Best bit was the speedy service for an order at the table restaurant. Where you want to get out to see more animals.
