Grand Village Imperial in Cherwell

Been buying from this Chinese restaurant since it opened and for the first time I decided to try the prawn dumplings and what a disappointment upon opening the box. It was as tiny than half a boiled egg for £8 for 4 seen that £2 each I thought it was a joke , that aside I thought the taste will compensate it but no and definitely not eating that again. What a Shame, I tried similar dumplings in Oxford Street market which was great nothing like this.Other than that food okay.

Cutlery is dirty. The soups are unrealistically over-salted. The rest of the food is tasteless

Food did not taste fresh at all tasted like was fried multiple times in old oil very dry too sweet very very poor quality of food in fried food hardly was any meat could only taste batter chewy dry. Other table send their food back twice. Services were good but can’t be considered with this bad quality and taste of food. This was the second time we all were hugely disappointed. Never going back!! Waiters did their job well.

The dishes were dirty, and we didn’t receive any apology. The waiter just said he would inform the kitchen, but he didn’t. We weren’t offered any form of compensation, not even a small discount—but they tried to charge us 10% of service charge. Definitely not coming back to this restaurant.

We turned up on chance and, even though it was busy, they organised a table for us quickly. Food, service and atmosphere were all fantastic.

The noodle was very bad… dry and burned.

The only problem we had is our stomachs weren't big enough 😂 great food! Edit 28/2: Unfortunately having to edit my review after I contracted food poisoning from here. Seems they're not cooking the pork on the menu properly, unsure if they've got a new chef but this wasn't an issue before and it seems standards have slipped.

This place is unreal! The service was beyond incredible—so fast, so friendly, just perfect. And the food? Absolutely delicious. Every bite was bursting with flavor. I’ve never had a better dining experience. If you haven’t been here yet, you’re seriously missing out. Easily my new favorite spot!

Very good food, price, dessert, clean, very nice decoration

This was our first time here tonight as we are staying in the area overnight. We turned up without booking and although the restaurant was very busy, the staff were extremely accommodating and we were shown to a table very quickly. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were great. Thank you ever so much ☺️.

Honestly one of the best meals out! If you like Chinese food but want it properly cooked and you want to have the best service then this is the place! The staff are so attentive! My 3yr old also had an amazing time, the fruit with the little eyes is such a wonderful touch. It was my partners birthday and the staff really made our evening special! Also the cocktails are incredible, even the non alcoholic ones! Thank you and we will be back!!

Had a superb meal at The Grand Village Imperial. We were staying at the premier inn across the retail park so was nice and convenient. The food was really good and exceeded our expectations. We had a dim sum sharer for 2, aromatic duck and pancakes plus 2 mains and all were really nice, served quickly and hot. My wife and I agreed it was one of the best Chinese meals we have had in a very long time. Would definitely go back if in the area. Thank you

The food was served promptly and arrived hot, which was appreciated. However, after about 45 minutes, while my friends and I were still enjoying our meal and conversation (food were almost but not yet finished), a waiter wanted to clear our table and asked us to leave. We understand that there may have been other customers waiting, but we felt rushed, especially since we had only been there for a short time. It would have been helpful if the restaurant had informed us of any time limits upon seating. Being asked to leave so abruptly diminished our dining experience.

There really is no place that tastes this good!😍 I was grateful to the staff for being so kind, and all of my friends who went with me raved about how delicious each and every dish they ordered was delicious! It was the most delicious Chinese food I've had in a while. The store was also very clean. If you're visiting Bicester Village, be sure to eat here😍

Proper Chinese venue with bountiful, filling portions presented on tables with turntables. Suggest that groups choose 1 dish per person and share the lot. The staff are very attentive and the restaurant is well furnished and pleasant to dine in. Would happily recommend and come again, we were a party of 8 going for lunch on a Fri, and we were served quickly.

Wanted a special evening to remember. The ribs were inedible and the main meals were of poor quality and not very nice to eat . Will never put my hard earned cash in their till again. Definitely a night to remember.

Do not use due to the parking situation. parking run by cowboys. One way or the other you will get 100£ fine if you don't park perfectly every time/acording to the ridiculous rules.

Food warning ….,The pork dumplings are raw and pink color …. Kid had half of it…. Sick… when we complained, staff replied that is normal… “Did not take photo of the most PINK one..” Never visit again…

The worst fried tomato and egg which tasted with ‘tomato ketchup. Fried rice and fried. Noodles neither tasted. I wonder how they cook Chinese food,

The worst experience waiter rude, food took ages to come from starter to main then charged for food we didn’t order but only notice when got home so didn’t go back.

Expensive and just not worth it. Very basic - the main dishes were basic, mostly carrot and beansprouts and the protein was stingy - the pork and prawns in the Singapore noodles were more like a garnish! Had to ask twice for water and the tiles around the floor of the bathroom were filthy. I’ve had takeouts in Bicester that not only tasted better, but were more generous and half the price.

Being from Birmingham and my friend from London, we met half way for this recommendation. This is by far the best Chinese we have both eaten, compared to many central London restaurants/ takeaways and Birmingham restaurants/ takeaways. The customer service was 10/10, did beyond more than they needed to. Very professional and family oriented. Clean and amazing decor for Christmas. The Christmas menu looks amazing too but we did not choose this menu, we went for the main menu. A bit pricey but I understand why.

Excellent meal, very professional staff

Around August, I had lunch here with my wife and two friends from Hong Kong. Although the food was not outstanding, it was not bad either! But the most difficult thing to accept is the siomai, which costs £8. There are four pieces in total. It is basically the packaged and frozen siomai sold in supermarkets. Because I often go to the Chinese Super League to buy this siomai, but I never expected to eat it in a restaurant of this level. The four of us were extremely surprised by the frozen siomai!

Stopped by on our way home from Bicester village 5 mins away, delicious food and service with very knowledgeable and friendly waitress, lovely decorations. Would highly recommend!

Tonight my family and I tried Grand Village Imperial and we were absolutely delighted by the experience. The atmosphere is beautiful and clean. The service was good and the food was even better. The bao is delicious and very flavorful. The Korean fried chicken was a big hit amongst my family. Everyone was very happy with their orders. We will definitely be recommending to our friends.

After waiting 40 mins for my order with noone bother apologising or providing an update, I finally got one of the waiters attention and was told it is cooking and will be out in 5 mins. 15 mins later still nothing. The next table arrived 10 mins later, nearly finished eating and not a single one of my dish arrived. They claimed the kitchen cook everything at the same time which was utter rubbish as next door table was getting their dishes at different times. The last kick in the teeth, the same dish I ordered came out of the kitchen and delivered to next table rather than mine! Noone even bothered to apologised! Never going back again! I wasted an hour for nothing other than starving!

Sept 24: We had a lovely meal in a nice busy atmosphere. My wife and I were offered a booth which seats 4 which is a nice change as this is not the norm in our experience. The drinks are not cheap £13 for two pints of Thai Singha. The food was all very nice and the service was very efficient and quick even though the place was busy, it was Saturday night. My only criticism, and I have a real issue with this, as we eat out a lot and it's becoming the norm, is the service charge. In what other industry is a charge implemented without choice. I know it can be rejected and we often do, but it is just not correct in my opinion. The staff wages should be covered as is each overhead by the profit from the food and drink, if this is not the case then adjust your pricing structure. A tip is left, in my opinion, when staff go over and above to add to your enjoyable experience. I pay for the food, and then choose to pay a tip if service merits one, and at an amount which I decide !!!! Rant over.....we will return for sure, but never pay the SC.

Had a recent takeaway. Lacked flavour and freshness. Used to be excellent here but clearly not worried about trade now they have Bicester Village Coaches blocking the roads. Tried to speak to management and got ignored.

The Korean fried chicken is the way to go! Some of the portions are very large so make sure to ask if you are unsure.

We visited GVI last night to celebrate a birthday. The food was delicious, it was hot, tasty and there was a lot of it. The service from all the staff was great, they made an extra special effort to make sure we had a lovely evening. It was our first visit but won't be our last. Thank you to the whole GVI team for such a fantastic evening.

Absolutely fantastic Chinese restaurant, probably the best we've ever been to. The staff were friendly, funny, helpful and polite, and the food was amazing, really delicious. It's not cheap (£88 for two people with the service charge) but honestly, the experience was worth it. Fabulous.

I asked for toilet paper from the elder sister who spoke Mandarin but she still didn't bring it to me at the end of the meal. I should have asked the elder brother in Cantonese or English.

The worst Chinese food ever , the Cantonese style roast duck is the worst one ever. Frozen duck then deep fried , it is not a roast duck . Will not recommenced anyone to come here . It was so hot inside as well. Definitely not come back . Disaster experience.

Avoid! We’ve chosen here only cause it’s the nearest Chinese by Bicester Village. Me and my partner standard by the front waited for a table around 20mins without any of staffs attention, until we asked one of the girl, she were saying: just wait outside of the door (with rude attitude). And when we by the table waited another 10-15mins for someone to ordered food, starter took around 10mins to came, and then we waited our main course for another 50mins and still nothing showing. We decided leave and when we asked paid bill for the starter and drinks they said food is ready. We decided to take away the rest main course. However they still added service charge when there is absolutely NO Service. And also the price is incorrect as take away price is should be much cheaper than eat in. But I can’t be ask to have another round in this worst restaurant that I’ve ever visited. DO NOT EAT HERE unless you think you have time to waste.

I booked a table here for my husbands birthday - truly this was a mistake. * Food - poor quality, starter was good, but the mains were completely inedible. Lemon chicken had little to no sauce and was cold in the middle. Sweet and sour chicken, hard batter, overcooked, tasted like it had been reheated multiple times. * Service - short staffed, unmanageable amount of people in the restaurant, I felt sorry for them. Bus loads of people continued to enter and ransacked the tables and left. People were waiting hours for food because of these buses. Poorly managed and staff are overworked. * atmosphere - this is worse than the food. The volume in this restaurant, you can't imagine it until you see it And hear it. Double floored restaurant full of endless coaches of people, who rush in, eat and leave again like a whirlwind of mess and sound. We were so disappointed- can see what they are trying to do, but it is not working. Financially I'm sure it is, catering for the masses, but they are not doing it well.

Food was good. But the restaurant was too busy and I was ignored for some period. Well decorated but the floor, seats and tables were not so clean.

Great place to come if you want to stand in line to order a meal and then get queue jumped by a coach load of people who have just been to Bicester Village. Another place less interested in local people but would rather chase the Bicester Village crowd.

hectic , busy , noisy but the food gets to you in the end which is worth the wait as the food was brilliant we will definitely be going back soon and we will try the traditional menu which is full interesting food

I don't know how this restaurant gets such a high rating on Google Map. I went to this place based on their ratings. I felt terrible that I selected this place. The fried rice was so salty. They placed the duck meat with its skin and fat in the fried rice. Come on, man, how could you even put that on the table. yeeak. The steam pork ribs were without any taste. What's wrong with the chef or the cook. The manager should at least try out your own food before selling them to the street. In terms of service, the waiter forgot to place the order even though I wrote everything on the dim sum selection paper, and he even double confirmed my order in front of me and still forgot the order. What a joke. One thing I should say thank you is that the waiter forgot to place that dim sum order and helped me save the money and the effort of eating the horrible food. In terms of atmosphere, you can tell the owner has put lots of effort and money on decoration, but that doesn't cover up the cons. Please think twice before you go and wish them good luck

Nice restaurant, really great staff, and probably some lovely dishes. However except for a very nice aubergine dish that we had, our food was average and perhaps a little bit too 'English Chinese' for our taste. A chicken dish in particular was bland. I had an order of Char siu buns and the filling was nice but the buns was dry and tasteless. Not a restaurant I would return to.

I went for another visit today and it saddens me to say we didn't have the best experience again. Our order was taken quickly, starters came out hot and very tasty. Mains were the issue again. Only half our order arrived. We had to chase twice before one more dish came out and that still left us missing a dish. We had eaten more than half our meal before the last dish arrived. It's frustrating when you know the food is so good, that the service let's it down. In my personal opinion I also think it's not great to then add a 10% tip (table of 2) onto the bill knowing the issues we had. If I'm honest it's probably put me off going back in a hurry as it is an expensive place to eat, and we've always justified that for how good it was but I don't think I can justify the price anymore for half meals and having to constantly chase for your food. Normally I love this place and cannot recommend it enough, which is probably why it felt so disappointing last night. We waited over 2.5 hours for our mains from sitting down, part of our order was missing and then by the time they had cooked it the meal was half gone. There was nobody taking drink orders so you had to try and flag attention from someone to order drinks and they were getting mixed up and not completed. The food is always good, served hot and the portion sizes are big so you feel like it's worth the higher price you pay. I would still recommend this place, but maybe try and avoid Friday/Saturday nights as it has the feel that they are just too busy to give the usual great service they do.

We had a late lunch which was nice. Staff could have done a better job with communication. The food was nice though. We had half duck with pancakes, lemon chicken and beef with garlic fried which was tasty and well presented. Definitely worth a visit.

Food fantastic, with good portion sizes! Signature roast Char Sui pork a must try! Noodles a little pricy at £10.50. A little warm inside but lovely staff who can’t do enough to help.

I always get takeaway meal for 2, £35. Good portion sizes, taste is always good. I've never been disappointed. The best Chineese in Bicetser.

Avoid! The worst place we've ever been to! Dirty with cob webs everywhere ( we should have left at this point but were hungry) cushions on chairs old, stained and dirty. The staff had filthy crumpled clothes on and the ones that had uniform on were no better they were absolutely filthy! Also one of the staff had a cold and couldn't even be bothered to put her hand over her mouth when coughing. The food was tasteless and seemed old and covered in sauce to mask the quality of the food. Some of our food was cold when they brought it out that we had to ask them if they could warm it up! Even the tap water we drunk had a strange taste. An awful costly experience that we will never ever be repeating. Absolutely disgusting! ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Today was my birthday and I visited this Restaurant for the first time. We were very well received. They gave us good service. The food was excellent and the dessert surprised us. Thanks to the Staff for giving me a good day.

First time visit so tried their meal for 4! Delicious, authentic Chinese food. Cooked well. All staff were lovely and friendly too. Deffo recommend, but book to avoid disappointment.

I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the Chinese food here. It tasted like it was prepared by someone who has never cooked before. The fried rice was overly moist, and the dim sum tasted like it had been reheated in a microwave. I've had better meals from the supermarket. Would not recommend.

Foood is terrible…….. dim sum is absolutely disgusting. Hofun is now fresh . They used dried one and also tiny portion. Lots lots bean sprouts.

We have been to this restaurant 4 times, each time we have good quality Chinese food at a reasonable price with good friendly service.

Visited this restaurant via bicester during Christmas time. It can be said to be the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. Almost all the dishes seemed to have forgotten to add seasonings, and it felt like I had lost my sense of taste due to covid. Ordered a Dongbo pork. The meat was dry and hard, had a peculiar smell, and was difficult to swallow. It was basically an expired semi-finished product that had been reheated. It's hard to imagine that a Chinese restaurant can produce such a product. The service is almost zero. Feeling cheated. My stomach hurts after eating. No one should have to suffer through this restaurant!

Wow! This place is EPIC! Finding a good gluten free Chinese is not always easy and this one is not good…it’s fricken amazing! I love the whole vibe of the place, the staff are attentive, knowledgeable about Gluten Free options and the food is fresh, beautifully presented, great proton sizes and everything we had was fantastic. A great place to sit, eat, chat and enjoy a Chinese meal ❤️🙏🏻

Feel it’s really unfair for people to slate this place, as it’s still known as the best place to get Chinese food in Bicester. For anyone reading this, I’d really encourage you to give it a go. The best Chinese food by miles!

Unbelievably good food, service and people. I was a little surprised when my brother in law took me out to Bicester for his birthday meal, and honestly was slightly worried. One of the best meals I’ve ever had - unbelievable service. We had a cocktail making session with David who was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met - and made some cracking cocktails. Could not recommend more

We went into the restaurant feeling hungry, and left the restaurant still feeling hungry, and, if I’m honest, disappointingly sad. Some of the food was passable, others outright terrible such as the xiaolongbao, a featured dish at the top of the menu and usually hard to disappoint as even the frozen ones from the supermarket are quite tasty. The ones we had however - not only did they look shriveled like leftovers, with soup leaking from the broken skin, they also tasted SO blatantly bland that made me wonder if I have ever had any xiaolongbao in my life that’s half as bad. I regret not having gone to the Asian supermarket next door at least I would have had a full stomach for a tenth of the price.

Amazing experience. My daughter wanted to always go here. So on her 14th birthday (last Sunday) we went with extended family. The service and experience was great. The food was amazing. The portion sizes were impressive. They even bought out a beautiful birthday cake. Thank you so much. Can't wait to visit again.

Weighted 45 minutes just to get a drink, hardly busy won't be going back service was terrible, and very overpriced.

The reason for my low rating is due to the fact the floor is SO dirty you slip and slide everywhere. There is years worth of grease on that laminate and it’s not safe. I nearly took a drop down the stairs. When mentioned to staff they just agree that the floor is very slippery but I do not believe they MOP the floors after closing.

A group of four us went out for a meal, we asked that the order be brought out all at the same time but this didn't happen, we were left with the rice dishes for around 10 minutes before the main dishes were brought out and then only got 2 out of the 4, 5 mins later another main came out and in the end my friend who had nearly finished his noodles had to ask where his main were, they then brought them out a few minutes later, the food was nice but it it quite expensive and the portions are too big, reduce the portions and then reduce the prices, there were also a lot of people around we could hear complaining about waiting for their food and one woman sending hers back saying it tasted like soap! We asked for the service charge to be removed from our bill as the service was terrible, also not one person who came to our table looked happy, they all looked completely fed up and hassled.

Always a great experience. Very good food but be aware, huge portions!! Easy parking and the staff always try their best.

To celebrate the incoming Year of the Dragon we had lunch at this restaurant. Wonderful food, servers helpful and attentive. Highly recommended.

Expensive, poor service with bad food.

Went there for my wife birthday as she absolutely loves the place and can't fault the it at all. The staff were great, the food was amazing very large portion sizes as well. They even surprise us with a birthday cake and the host sang Happy birthday. Will definitely be back again.

Excellent food and portion sizes. The staff were great, welcoming and warm. For those looking for halal option in Bicester this is the place to go 😁 staff are respectful in cooking the food in a separate space for Halal food.

Good food good service at a fair price

We went here last night as a table of 4 and had a wonderful time. The food was absolutely delicious (one of the best Chinese I’ve ever had) and the staff were so lovely and couldn’t do enough for you. It had such a friendly atmosphere and we’ll definitely come back again when we’re next in Bicester!

Where to start. The prawn toast (all 4 pieces for £12.50) had the taste and texture of a deep fried paving slab. The chicken satay sticks were yellow in the middle, for some odd reason. Once the roof of my mouth (and thankfully my tastebuds) had been completely burned down to a smooth surface we were on to the mains. The Crispy Lamb Mongolian Style arrived. Which says something about the Mongols, in that they were far too preoccupied with world domination they clearly failed to learn to appreciate sauce (or seasoning) A dry portion of sliced crispy lamb arrived with a bowl of rice. I did mention it to the waiter, who promptly returned with a plum sauce that looked and tasted like it had just been scraped from between a hobo's toes. The only plum present was the one typing this, £80 lighter for a paltry meal for 2 that lacked flavour, seasoning and value of any kind. Completely shocking food, well overpriced and well worth avoiding. Only gets 2 stars as the crippling case of the thrupennies I was expecting never actually materialised.

Had various dishes, duck was cooked to a crisp chicken balls were old and dry reheated chicken then the batter was soggy. This on top of the hygiene rating I was weary of... Won't be going back.

I doubt who would give the reviews over 2 star... 1. The food is no seasoning, we ordered, fried rice, roasted duck, they are very plain 2. Portion is small, we ordered honey fried pork chop, there is 6 thin slice, and it is £16 3. One of the dish, it is spoiled, the meat is sour taste, but it is supposed sweet soy sauce taste. 4. After back to home, 3 of us diarrhea.. 5. At least half of the customers complain while we were there.. I would suggest to go McDonald's in any circumstances.

So have eaten in before and food is great, service is a little slow. But would recommend for best dine in Chinese for Bicester. Sadly ordered take out on tonight (NYE) and was awful service. No clear system in place with people having same colour ticket and number! Pre ordered but nearly an hour late, food missing and some clearly cold and left under a heater. I get NYE is a busy time but limit orders and have a system that works.

This is my go to place after work when I want to get warm food fast. The staff is really nice and the service is quick. They even give you free prawn crackers when you order take out ! I have dine in before and the service was still good. The food came quick and my boyfriend absolutely loved it. The prices are reasonably good. The drinks they have are so cute and tastes good at the same time.
