Grain and Grind Battlefield Road in Glasgow City

My girlfriend and I popped in here for some iced coffees and possibly a cake. I got an iced vanilla latte (£4 = £3.70 for the coffee and 30p for syrup) and my girlfriend got an iced caramel latte (£4). We also shared a chocolate muffin (£3). Overall, we would return as the coffee was smooth/tasted nice and the atmosphere of the place was very chill (lots of natural daylight shining through the windows too).

Terrifically hot cup of coffee together with a pastry. Lovely atmosphere. Delightful staff. Look forward to a return visit very soon.

I’ve been to this place multiple times over the last few months and keep returning hoping that the customer service will improve because the coffee is great. I’ve sat in, taken away alone after a run, with my partner, and with my dog. Every time the coffee has been great with quick service but the staff continually come across rude - failing to make eye contact, shouting rudely if I don’t hear them immediately the first time they call my order and rolling their eyes/ acting like I’ve said something wrong when all I did was politely order a latte. It’s a shame because it has the potential to be a great little place in a handy location for my flat which is dog friendly.

At first glance it looked like a lovely wee restaurant. As we attempted to order the serving woman continued to do her own thing, no eye contact. We had to repeat our order several times and when it arrived was still wrong. The bagels were wrongly labelled on the counter and no mozzarella in two of the orders. All 4 bagels were tough and distinctly unappetising. The cakes were tasty and cheered up an otherwise dismal experience. Shame as this could be a wee goldmine. Service left a lot to be desired.

Me and my friend went to grab a coffee and entered the shop happy and bubbly as usual. Absolutely shocking service from the women serving. Literally rolled her eyes everytime we asked for something and wouldn’t even reply to it. Was even funnier when I thought she was going to be like that with everyone and then once the next man went to order, she couldn’t have been any nicer, “how are you today” she asks. Maybe our 2 coffees were too complicated an order 🤭 Oh and she forgot to cut our bagel in half and because we had to ask twice more, she started slamming about in a mood. Some advice: get a job you like, instead of making others feel guilty for how you feel.

Kind, welcoming staff. Great food and specifically, the Mon-Wed brunch deal is a steal! Great option for solo workers, dog walkers, family outings or catch ups with friends.

I had a really poor here recently. The attitude of staff was really poor, and not customer friendly. I had put in an order, and there was some items missing. I asked about the missing items, and I just got an attitude. There was also more than one missing item. I felt really uncomfortable when after asking about the missing items. I think if less time was taken chatting friends in the shop, not eating food while making customers orders (a bit unhygienic) and repeating the order back to the customer less mistakes would be made.

Went hoping to have a relaxing brunch. Sign on entering says 'don't take a table until you've ordered food'. Went to order food, first question, what table are you at? Er?! Staff member checked to see there was a table. No tables, therefore no food ordered. Some tables with spaces were occupied by one person, no doubt working on their latest novel. Don't have a policy and not enforce it. Don't let tables for groups be taken up by only one budding novelist. Get them to move to a smaller table. Duh! Losing custom is no way to run a business.

Nicely designed simple and friendly coffee shop, bought the Marchtown blend, very tasty indeed, wirth a visit if you like great coffee.

No brunch menu anymore, it’s just a bunch of pre-made sandwiches they heat up. The focaccia i had was burnt on the top and the pesto filling was far too sour. Barely anyone in at lunchtime yet quite a few staff. Cake and coffee is still good tho.

I had heard a lot about grain and grind and i was rather looking forward to giving it a go. the coffe was alright but i was surprised to find the only hot food on offer was an option of four sandwhiches. im vegetarian so two for me. the sandwhich was cauliflower and it was alright, a little spicy but the bread was bland

The brunch was the best part of the restaurant sad it had to close. The stuff don’t like as energetic as before , seems less of them. Don’t know what the owner is planning but hope the bring back brunch. As that’s what battlefield was popular for.

Stopped off to grab a magic bag (Too Good To Go) but coudn't leave without trying a coffee. Lovely brew, friendly staff, delicious food.

I have been here both for a solo coffee to sit and work and with friends to share their lovely baking. The atmosphere is cosy and bustly with bright enough lighting that it's a great spot for sitting with one of their fantastic coffees soaking in the atmosphere. The baking (have tried the magic bar which definitely lives up to its name!) is lovely and staff are so friendly and approachable. An added bonus is that it's dog friendly too. Although a bit pricy the quality of the coffee is fantastic and is a great wee local place I'm more than happy to support!

Great bright, airy contemporary decor, friendly staff and nice ambience in this cafe. Have had a couple of sandwiches on Too Good to Go which were really good if a bit pricy for reduced to clear. Only let down was the espresso which was under-extracted and sour aftertaste. I'll definitely be back though.

There are certainly plenty of artisanal cafes in Glasgow's southside right now, but Grain and Grind is one of the best. Delicious food, attentive friendly service and a lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be returning, whether just for a coffee or another delicious full meal.
