There is so much to say about this experience and the best way to describe it is extremely uncomfortable. Right from when we entered the cafe, we were met with overt racism, frustration, and impatience. My mom was ordering their avocado toast with eggs. And the owner of the cafe asked, “What color bread would you like?” This is something we were unfamiliar with because typically, we’ve heard of “What kind of bread would you like.” And when my mom asked for clarification, the owner spoke to us in a slow and demeaning manner, as if we don’t understand English. And when the owner asked how we would like our eggs done, we again asked for clarification. The owner responded in that same, demeaning manner. English is our first language so this threw us off. And even if English wasn’t our first language, this behavior is unacceptable. But I’ve learned over the years to ignore racist micro-aggressions to avoid any larger conflicts. However, everything escalated from that point forward. We then received our food in our takeaway containers. We then changed our mind about eating to-go and decided to quickly eat inside the cafe. And of course, we apologized because we realized that it was a slight inconvenience. However the owner started being even more outwardly rude towards us. He told us that it is “not proper” to eat without a knife and fork, and agitatedly gave us our utensils. When my mom kindly asked for napkins, he rudely said “If you look inside your bag, napkins are in there.” He then gave my mom napkins but then took away napkins from inside our takeaway bag. At some point, I needed more napkins. But I didn’t want to inconvenience him anymore because of how agitated he already seemed. Overall, there was this air of extreme discomfort the entire interaction. It was our first time at this cafe and we were not familiar how everything worked there. It seems like this establishment is more meant for locals, who are white and British. It is unfortunate because this quite literally ruined my experience in London. Most everyone has been kind except for this one encounter. I’m writing this review because I wanted to be honest and truthful about how I felt and my family’s experience at this establishment. And hopefully, others won’t experience this as well.

Stopped by to grab a sausage roll as part of my UK trip. Did some search on Google and turns out this cute spot behind my hotel had amazing ones! Fresh warm pastry, with a little bit of mustard to cut through the sausage flavour. Would totally drop by again if I’m ever in the area. The person in the cafe was also friendly and funny!

Nice and cozy place. If it were older it might lose its charm. Found by accident but worth going in. We tried the cheese omelette and the cheese omelette with sweet ham and they are spectacular. Maybe a bit expensive for a breakfast but quality x price, it's very worth it. 2 tortillas and a sweet ham and cheese sandwich 26 pounds. For a 1-time vacation, I recommend it.

The signs weren’t kidding as this lovely little corner coffee shop does have a tremendous sausage roll. The pastry is buttery, the sausage fills the roll, and the mustard inside is a nice touch. We booked an AirBnB a few doors down the lane way, and came across this gem of a cafe. It was our meeting place for the three mornings we were in London. Great coffee, best sausage rolls in the universe, and perfect omelettes. Their playlist is second to none, but what made the experience memorable were the owners, and the host of regular patrons that put up with us “Americans waving our money around”…said all in fun. We had to set them straight that we were in fact Canadians. If you don’t like dry British humour, avoid this place, but just know you would be making a big mistake!!

If you are the confrontational type and are in for a laugh, our just a few bangs, go in for a chat with this character. We went in for a couple of espressos, and the whole experience was nothing but unpleasant from beginning to end, regardless of our attempts to make light of the situation. But hey, if you are in for a bloke who will get confrontational, unpleasant and even give you your money back, don't even look back. If you like good coffee, pleasant atmosphere and something of the normal customer-patron domain, stay well away. This is for people who like confrontations.
