They lied! On the webpage they showed Coal at Gloucester Quays were part of the scheme. They are not and as far as staff were aware, they never were. The app is poor. Discounts relate mainly to Indian restaurants. The app also shows discounts for movie rental - Wrong! this leads to cinema. No way to cancel membership on their website, no way to reply to their emails.

Absolutely appalling! They force you to spend at least £30 to benefit the discount but even then you’ll notice your total is £29.99 and then you’re forced to add another item to qualify which is at least £4.99 so basically you’ll get charged a minimum of £20 after the so called “discount” is applied. What a laughingstock of a company..yuck

Like so many others, I wish I could give this a ZERO star. Auto renewal for an app that apparently doesn't recognise my log in details, despite the fact I have never changed them since I foolishly took this out back in 2019. I've never used it but , having the latest payment taken last month from a credit card I no longer use, thankfully my credit card company waived the late payment fee and have put a block on any further payments being taken. I've had to swallow the annual fee but at least they can't take any more from me in future. AVOID like the plague!!!!

If I could give a zero star then I would. Scam company who auto renewed (technically in line with their terms and conditions) but refused to provide a refund when challenged on the day the renewal came out of the account. Useless discounts, terrible company do not use

I would give 0 stars if I could. This company is a scam, and like many others here I fell for it. Firstly, the app itself is useless and unrecognised by any of the merchants I went to. If you go to Island Poke (which was the main reason I considered it), they will look at you like you’re speaking gibberish when you bring up this discount, good luck getting a discount! That’s not all, when you think sod it I want to get rid, you have to do something that reminds me of the early 2000s: e-mail to cancel. You will be met by rude customer service that can’t find your emails, charges you anyway and goes absolutely wild trying to upsell to you on a complaint email? I should probably have read these reviews before going for this scam. Hope you do and make an informed purchase that your money may just be floating into a bottomless pit with this company.

The App is out of date, if I look up restaurants filtered by distance. The first 2, one has ceased trading over 12 months ago and the other when you click the link, an error message presents, I guessing they no longer take the card. The other issue I have is that restaurants put “ local “ restrictions on using the card and these are not mentioned in the description, so you only find out when you sit at the table. I raised this as a case with GS they were full of promises but nothing changed. As for the Pizza Hut deal, you can get the same discount either direct with the restaurant or a discount code off the web. Summary- complete waste of money

Purchased a 1 year membership last year as a present for someone. This year the money has been taken but no reminder to either myself or the recipient. GS will not speak to me as I’m not the membership holder and when the membership holder has tried to cancel they have offered only a £5 refund. I used to use this company as they were good but they are scammers now. I would not recommend and 1 star is 1 too many. I cannot get anyone to call me or just refund my money. L

If I could give no stars I would they took my subscription early told me they had emailed me but I never received any renewal email. Then they refused to give me a refund. I have never used this once as the only takeaway discount is for Pizza and pitiful selection of restaurants for discount. My advice do not sign up for this! Not worth joining. Was an add-on freebie for me but is a waste of time. If you have student in the household, they’ll get better discounts with Unidays. Should be renamed the Grim Fast-Food Group. This company gain their business through a modern day tactic of giving a free trial long enough for people to forget about the end of that trial. They then end up getting charged. I've joined other services like this before and place such companies in two categories. One is those who will happily refund with no questions asked and I have in my experience ended up going back to them for a paid service in future when it is something I actually need. The second is a company like Gourmet Society who have the cheek to promote their offers in the reply to an email I sent on the day of renewal, also quoting when they reminded me etc so a very defensive response. I didn't use the service once and never will due to this experience. Don't sign up to it. I suspect the offers they provide can be found without giving them money every month and when you add up the cost compared to how often you actually use it, is any money actually being saved? I doubt it.

During the current Covid-19 epidemic while all restaurants are shut for sit down dining, Gourmet Society have changed the service they offer to become a "takeaway discounter", a service I did not sign up to. There is no viable way for me to use this membership and the fact is, they're now charging £35 for a service that is offered for free elsewhere! I echo the voices of countless others here that feel like they have been scammed out of their money. NEVER sign up for this service as they will just take your money year after year without your consent. They cover themselves of cause by the fact that they do send you an e-mail to let you know but they count on the fact that we have busy lives and change e-mail addresses so if you happen to miss that ever important e-mail from them then they have the right to take your money. This, or any company should never be allowed to do this. In my opinion and apparently many, many others all across Britain who feel the same, this is completely unethical. We should have the right to agree to money being taken from our account, right before it is taken and not a year in the past. And this of cause explains why unethical business practice like this is allowed to flourish. They are 'legally' able to take our money and we should be ok with that according to the young lady on the other end of the telephone when I tried to cancel my subscription the day after they took my money without my consent. They can take it because I didn't say that they couldn't. I refuse to stay silent about what felt like stealing my money. GOURMET SOCIETY, STOP TAKING PEOPLES MONEY without asking them first. Surely you can resort to better business practice. If your product is a good one then people would want to renew their subscription you won't have to resort to this.

Unfortunately I was so busy in my new job for the first few months, and didn't even know many people, I didn't use it. With only a phone, little WiFi and stitches to my fingers, I didn't stop the membership when I should have but on hearing this, despite messaging and calling on the day it was due, gourmet society had no sympathy whatsoever and displayed a callous lack of understanding of my situation. I should have followed-up, but this was forgotten. Now a 12-month membership fee has been deducted from my account. I've told them it shouldn't have happened as I tried to cancel, and I don't want the membership. Like all the other poor suckers on this review site, we have been scammed. We have never even received a card in the first place, so completely forgot about cancelling it and didn’t know what date it was due. Apparently, they sent us a reminder email and we opened it and deleted it! (they sent a screen print of a tick box ‘proving’ that we had, showing the date and time we opened the email). How clever are we? Apparently, we can open an email whilst on a plane with the iPad in flight mode! When I rang the company and told them this, they said their screen shot proved we had opened it and no refund was possible. Why would someone like us, pensioners with limited funds, open an email telling us we were about to be relieved of £34.99 ignore said email? (The whole premise of this card is useless, we get all the same deals and better with our Meerkat membership, which is free) The first we knew about it was when PayPal took the money out of our account. They could not help as we ticked a box agreeing to terms and conditions, which, of course doesn’t tell you the very basic details, such as when you need to cancel and HOW to cancel...or even how much it will be!!! I previously had a tastecard which I used several times and found that the offers were fantastic for me. I came across an offer on o2 for a 6-month membership with gourmet society so I thought I would try them for a change. During the time I only used the card once as I found the offers in my area weren't great and felt like I wouldn't renew my membership. I visited the website in May to try and see if there was a way to cancel my account but there is no option on their app or on their website, there aren't even any FAQ's on the matter. A few months later, a logged into my account to check what money I had left before going food shopping (only a few days before payday), my car insurance was yet to be taken but I had reserved the money for this. I noticed a payment had been taken and when I looked at transactions I discovered it was for renewal of my gourmet society membership. Confused, I went into my emails (which I check several times a day) and searched for their name in all mailboxes (in case it fell into my spam folder), no emails came up, no warnings about renewal, no reminder about payment being taken out, and no emails to even advise me that my policy had been renewed. I decided to log into my account using their non-mobile friendly website which told me i had to register again for some reason, so after having to put in all of my information, AGAIN, i was finally logged into my account, i searched everywhere for a 'cancel' option but found nothing, i logged into the app and also found nothing about this, the only thing i could find was a general contact email address. I sent an email to them advising that i wasn't aware of the renewal date of my membership and that they have taken my car insurance money out of my account, leaving me short for the rest of the month. It took 4 working days to receive a response, which read: "I am sorry learn that you had not anticipated the renewal of your membership. I can however confirm that when you joined us on a promotional offer you agreed to the terms and conditions of membership and were made aware that your membership was an ongoing subscription service. This is detailed at the time of application, the confirmation email and also the renewal reminder we send (which i did not receive). If you do not obtain a cancellation code prior to your renewal date you will be billed for an annual membership. In order to cancel your membership, you would have needed to contact us no later than 5pm on the working day preceding your expiry date. As we did not receive any notification of your cancellation you were charged for your annual membership accordingly. Your renewal reminder was sent via email on the 24/08. I am not therefore in a position to refund this fee to you but can confirm that all future renewals have been cancelled and no further payments will be taken for your membership." I went back to my emails to search for any emails i may have missed, i have received a total of 3 emails from them since i joined, all from when having to re-register to their appalling website, but nothing about renewal. I also do not understand why they make it so difficult to cancel a policy. Why should i need a code to cancel? it should be made clear on the website and i should be able to cancel with the click of a button! i also contacted them as soon as i noticed that money had been taken, literally 2 days later so my policy had only just "renewed" and i had not used the service and had no intention to. there should be a cool down period to which i should be able to receive a refund, i should not be paying for a service that i have no intention of using. If i would have received a renewal email, i would have followed the steps to cancel, not left it for money to be taken, and yet even though i advised i hadn't received any emails in my message to them, my response was made out as if i had received it but had not bothered to act upon it!!! For anyone considering trying a gourmet society membership through a trial, please take all of this into consideration.

Beware the sneaky large annual renewal that you can’t cancel on-line - looks more like a money skimming business than one that helps restaurants and customers (and makes a fair profit as a result)

DO NOT USE Be very careful - after the O2 free trial, the business auto-renewals your membership and will take £39.99 from your account. After signing up, you will realise that the restaurants given in your area are very minimal and also ones that you would not visit. As well as this, offering discounts which can be found on cereal and sweets packs (which you can buy for £1 and still get something out it....) To conclude, it's not even worth the bother or your time to sign up with this company - the dining is ridiculous and after you'v paid your £40 you will not be getting it back, which my feedback to GourmetSociety is: IF YOU WANT TO CHARGE £40 FOR A MEMBERSHIP, AT LEAST LOAD SOME DECENT RESTAURANTS ON THAT YOU CAN ALSO USE ON A FRIDAY, SATURDAY OR SUNDAY. p.s i can get all of these discounts off voucher cloud for free.

I cancelled my free six month trail shortly after taking this policy out. I am disappointed that although I have cancelled it I have still been charged. I have contacted customer services who were very unhelpful and asked for screenshots to prove I had cancelled it. Won’t get a refund. Be careful if you are taking this out

Company clearly runs it's business model through scamming people out of money. I signed up for a free trial and they have now taken money from my account saying I agreed to their terms, which apparently change according to circumstances so the customer always loses. Avoid at all costs.

this company is so hard to contact and not actually worth the money. I had to call 3 times to cancel my membership because they keep hanging up in between transfers to the cancellation team. NOT worth it

Appalling service. Have been trying to be taken off their website since January and the customer service is the worst yet. They don't care about their customers. AVOID at all costs, if you're looking for something like this go for Tastecard....or just avoid avoid avoid.

1) The deals they offer are worse than you can get on free voucher/coupon code sites or direct with the restaurants. 2) I live in a town and there are very few places where this card can even be used. 3) I haven’t found it useful once in the year I have had it, it auto renewed 14 days before the expiry date and so I have been charged when trying to cancel. I would not recommend purchasing this what so ever. Avoid.

Do not buy! Complete waste of time as mobile App does not work properly. When I select the 'near me' function, the 2 closest restaurants are in Colchester and Dundee! I live in Lancashire!

Absolutely con artists!! Do not sign up for trial or membership they just rob you of your money. Tried to cancel multiple times before they took the £39.99 of me they said they have no record of me doing this even though I’ve sent emails months ago when I first started the trial as I wasn’t benefiting from this. So rude on the phone and also won’t refund any money given and no way of getting money back I’ve been back and forth with emails and getting nothing other than they can refund me £10 and I can keep the membership I don’t want! They said they would send me a reminder email before the auto renewal I received none of these but there arguing they sent me them absolute joke of a company robbing bastards

We ordered through justeat and the order never got delivered. After calling they claimed it has been delivered and asked us to look outside the house. I have been pacing outside for 10 minutes looking for my chicken. The refund system is also terrible as we cannot get into contact with justeat about it. There are also several similar reviews like this on justeat. Do not piss off hungry people.

Absolutely rubbish app designed to rip off people. Should have read the reviews here first. The cancelation option nowhere to be found on app, you keep running through an endless loop. Disgraceful system. While trying to use card, they never show your card on app. You can't update information either until you make a payment using the app. Its trap within trap within scam within scam. They want money money money, but provide no contact, after a struggle to find email for customer service, they're Disgracefully useless. STAY AWAY. PAY FULL PRICE FOR FOOD. COOK AT HOME. WHATEVER. SAVE YOUR TIME, MONEY AND ENERGY BUSINESS WHO DONT RESPECT CUSTOMERS SHOULD ALL DISAPPEAR, UNTIL THEY LEARN TO TREAT CUSTOMERS WITH RESPECT.

This place is a disgrace! Not only was my food an hour late, my food was cold, there was a hair in my food and when I called to complain the guy on the phone became rude and just being a basic a***hole. I wouldn’t waste your time honestly.

Both of our visits to this restaurant didn't go so well. Dismissing our first visit as it has just newly opened, I will only review this visit. We ordered the masala fish (which was nice), a kids meal that didn't even come with a drink, and a special burger meal that honestly tasted absolutely awful and wasn't edible! There were fewer fries in our burger meal than in the kids meal. After food we ordered a choco heaven milkshake and they gave us what seemed to be a vanilla milkshake and when we told them they said that choc heaven shake has vanilla ice cream in it too! Prices are reasonable but food isn't great.

very overpriced for what we got, tiny bit of salad with no onions for 4 starters, chapatis and naan bread cost extra, food ok, won't be ordering from here again
