Staff were very slow to serve us as we were seen as non regulars rather than a customer.

Always a great welcoming and great food and drink

Nice friendly pub, closing soon for refurbishment to be turned into sports bar. Look forward to seeing the revamp.

Good food and beer, with excellent service

Words cannot express how appalled we were by the service we received and how disappointed we were as a family to be treated in such way when we are usually regular customers here. Our table was reserved as usual, with it being for a birthday celebration. For some time we have visited here on every occasion, Birthdays, Christmas, Football Days... the list goes on. This is our grandfathers local and to make it easier for him we meet here regularly but after our experience this evening, it will be very hard to encourage s to come back. We made our food order as 3 separate orders as we always have, sometimes more when our boking is at its fullest. When ordering our food, we had to repeat several times due to incorrect ordered being repeated back to us. Once our food arrived, it went from bad to worse. The ordered appeared to be arriving in group order. First our grandparents food came out together, then my family of four, followed by the final group of 5. On the final plate, we advised we ordered chips not fries. The plate was taken away and was bought back by the waitress and we were told, the receipt states fries and therefore we would not be able to get the fries changed. We advised we were certain that chips were initially ordered. Unfortunately I did not believe this to be a fair case as it may have been selected incorrectly on the system when ordered as we were certain on what we asked for. I carried the plate back to the bar, as well as my 3 year old child and politely asked for the fries to be exchanged for chips. Again, the plate was taken back and again brought back out to us, and were advised by a member working rom the bar we were still unable to have the fries exchanged for chips and argued we ordered incorrectly. By this point our food was cold and our entire night ruined. We had to pay for an extra portion of chips just for the birthday girl to have the meal she originally asked for. On top of this we had to wait nearly 30 minutes just for a children's ice cream and a steak that came our more than well done when it was requested dot be medium rare. The steak was taken away to be rectified but again the plate was brought back, with the additional sides left to stay cold whilst the steak was sorted. By the time the steak came out the rest of the plate was stone cold and I had no appetite to eat any of it. After a while some of our plates were cleared but the majority of the table was left with plates and glasses. It felt somewhat as if we were being punished for asking our order to be corrected.

Had Christmas Family get together at this pub. Excellent service coping with 14 people. Very friendly quality food excellent staff. Will be back definitely

Staff confrontational. A bowl of 50p nachos and some salsa for 8quid? No guacamole. Stuff missing off the Mac and cheese dish. No disarrano for God father cocktail. Would not go again.

Great atmosphere, plenty of parking when we went (5pm Saturday). Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good menu and prices, the kebab meal was lovely! All in all, a very pleasant visit!

Food was cold, adult portions were the same as the. Hild portions we ordered, staff rude took almost an hour for our food to come out, the table we pre booked was taken by someone else. Overall not the best first experience.

Visited Monday lunchtime in December with friends ( pre-booked). Typical pub food and atmosphere. Friendly bar staff. Good food, served quickly and table cleared after meal. Good choice on menu, some meal deals ( 2 courses, 3 courses etc). Reasonable prices. Good parking. Would recommend.

Sorry no stars on Atmosphere ; purely because it was a wake, the team worked hard to get it just right for us , and the food was excellent. I ticked a mixed grill on the recommendations because that is what we would normally have.

Food and atmosphere for a varied age group.

Food was good although steak a little overcooked. Asked for medium and was more well done. Our pre orders were all correct. Service was excellent although a little slow between courses but we were a party of 20 so to be expected. Would definitely return next year.

Booked for Christmas Day waited nearly an hour for starters then sides came out before main course again waited a long time had to ask several times had to send them back as they were cold I get it’s Christmas Day but they should have been prepared! Also got the mains wrong won’t book again service was awful!

I came for “Breakfast with Santa”. Lovely morning. Food was nice and good value for money. The kids enjoyed seeing Santa, having a disco and also got a present. Staff were excellent

Firstly, we booked a table for 10 for the festive menu, the table was not set out so 10 people could sit together, it was set with a table of 6 & a table of 4, meaning one person had to sit with their back on the other 4 in the party, which is rude right away. We ordered 6 turkey lunches, which all came stone cold, not alot on the plate, not even a boiled potato in site. They had obviously been sitting on the side going cold whilst other food was being prepared. And lastly, we had to go and ask for my sons pudding as it did not come out with the other 3 puddings. It was very poor and the quality was very poor too. We have had meals there over the previous weeks and have been more than satisfied but yesterday was a total let down and left a bad taste in our mouth. We would have all been better off losing the £5 deposit instead of paying £15.99 each for a meal that was very poorly prepared.

Amazing the team helped us celebrate our wedding day ! They went above and beyond with all the details from laying tables to decorations. We had a large group for a sit down meal that was amazing, lovely, really large portions to the changing off the room to accommodate our evening guest. We can't thank the team enough and would definitely recommend 👌

This community pub is the perfect place for a nice family meal or to go for a few drinks with your friends! Over the past 12 months there have been so many changes .. all for the best! The kids area has made such a difference to the local children in the community and has brought so many new families to The Gospel Oak. It is so blatantly obvious how much love and attention has gone into the place since new management took over and even food standards have increased! Personally the steak deal is such good value for money.. steak meal and a drink for £10?! Honestly cannot fault this place.. staff are so friendly and attentive. 100% recommend!!

Absolutely fantastic! So nice to see a pub really being the community together over the festive period! With an incredible amount of events to look forward to! Personally I can’t wait for the Kylie Minogue tribute on 19th December! Food quality has improved drastically over the last few months too! My personal favourite has to be the Steak Baguette! ⭐️

Good food very quick service and a good pint too

Although the table was booked for 11am when we arrived the place was locked up. We waited around and the lady opened the door at 11.20 . We explained that we had booked a table for 11 and was told that the booking shouldn't have gone through as they didn't open until 11.30. The lady was shown proof of the booking and said that they didn't serve breakfast either. She showed us to our table and then said that the chef didn't start until later. We was then left for a good while as the lady served another customer. She didn't come back to us so after waiting another 15-20 mins we decided to leave.

We booked a table for 9 , had to wait 90 min for any of our meals to arrive , only burgers ordered , girlfriend violently sick later that evening after eating a chicken burger , no apology won't be eating here ever again

Booked a table for 8 people, ordered food was told 45 min wait but it was 1 hour 30 min wait with no apology for our wait!!! 3 of us wanted gammon but they had no gammon in stock. For a sunday it was busy with very little staff. I will not be returning which is unfortunate.

Kids Halloween party, was great lots of fun. Hosts were very energetic and passionate and included all the children in the fun. We also had food which was great.

It's ok food is not bad the drinks are very pricey £4-60 for a pint of Carling where I can get a pint of the same beer down the road for £2.70

Nice to see a gaffer starting to make a difference in the community at The Gospel Oak pub 🍻. Thought we would pop in and try the breakfast 🍳 for the first time, got to say I wasn't disappointed with the quality or the quantity on offer and I urge the community to pop along and try for yourselves, if you fancy a lovely full English breakfast. Vast improvement over last visit 2 years ago. Food was better. The portions were still small but the quality was way better as was the service and look of the pub.

Lovely atmosphere, disabled friendly, amazing food and staff that go out of their way to help. Friendly staff who are polite and wonderful. Food was beautiful. Can't wait to return again. Had another wonderful afternoon here highly recommend this place.

Was really please with all the sprucing up of the venue. Much cleaner looking and welcoming. Friendly greeting from Mandy and as it was quiet the service was quick our food was really good. Kiren is working hard to improve the pub and hopefully all the locals will support his efforts and contribute to the success he and his team deserve

Come here once a week with aunty nice friendly atmosphere to relax and enjoy a meal. Aunty likes small meals and with the kids menu she is more than satisfied. Child friendly with plenty of toys for children to play with. Car park at the rear.

Our first time off going to the Gospel Oak and it won't be the last. The staff absolutely brilliant. Hayley was very welcoming and friendly and made you feel at home. The food was perfectly cooked just couldn't fault any of the food. All the staff were brilliant they certainly looked after the four of us and the dog. We were very surprised about a special dog menu. We would definitely recommend you give the Gospel Oak a try.

Me and my partner came in recently and the pub hadnt long opened with was one of about 3 small parties in there. Although the bar maid was friendly enough that's as far as the experience went. My partner had a mixed grill when it came out you could see the grease all over it, he picked the chicken up and the fat just ran off it. He tried the chicken and nearly threw up there and then, due to the taste of grease on there also the smell of grease was very off putting. To say that he couldn't eat no more was and understatement. The lady at the bar was attentive and did offer a refund. But you wouldn't expect this to happen but also as the pub had just opened you couldn't blame it on the pub being busy. Was very disappointed.
