We visited Gopal’s of Soho for dinner after the theatre, and it was a fantastic choice. Conveniently located near the theatre and tube stations, it was still open when we arrived close to 10 pm. The food was excellent—especially the Dal Makhni, which was one of the best I’ve ever had, even better than Dishoom’s. The service was lovely, with friendly staff who made sure my request for extra spice was perfectly met. Highly recommend!

Excellent in all aspects!! Such kind and friendly people in a spotless restaurant with extremely clean toilets. The food is unbelievably good, the best quality I've found in central London ( and there are a lot of dirty tourist rip-offs). I'm a regular so perhaps I'm just biased, or just smart! Impossible to find better value for money. We even enjoyed the relaxing Indian music in the background!! What else can I say? I will be back soon with my friends.

A very disappointing experience. The two dishes my friend and I ordered tasted really boring--which is hard to do for Indian cuisine even if one tried. The presentation was even more boring: they were simply red sauces with pieces of meat and potato in them, that's it. In a little bowl. No bits of vegetables or anything on the side. The naan I ordered with it was extremely, extremely sweet, thus only edible as a kind of dessert, not with the meal. So I had to order another bread for the meal. For all this, it was insanely overpriced, even after accounting for location. The service had a weird nervous energy about them, eager to take plates away the second they felt that maybe one was done (even if one was not). Oh and: they added an item on the bill that we didn't order nor receive. Mistakes happen but it was on top of a bad experience allround, so it didn't help (they did remove the wrong item after I pointed it out). I don't recommend eating here, there are so many amazing options in Soho.

Honestly the rudest staff in the whole of Soho, classic case of discrimination against solo indian woman traveller, restaurant had empty seats, reservations available online and I was passing by craving indian food, I entered, I was looked down upon by the staff, denied entry.. looks like the staff refuses to leave their orthodox views away. PS - I am a indian traveling to London for work, and trust me never faced such discrimination anywhere in the world for being a solo indian female traveling. Popped into this as it was recommended on Google. I wasn’t that impressed. The food was just okay. It’s nothing you can’t get for a better price at other restaurants. I found the food to be very hot, as in temperature, as if it had been microwaved; I ordered a butter naan and to be honest, it felt as though it was a shop bought variety instead of a freshly cooked version. It was crispy and not very buttery. Overall, not a great experience, and not what you would expect in central London, apart from the prices.

I enjoyed a prawn kadai which was pleasingly very spicy and with tremendous depth of flavour. I hadn't been to Gopals for a while, but it seemed different this time the staff all had beaming smiles and showed us to a table straight away. The restaurant was busy, always a good sign. We ordered 2 poppadoms which came with the usual dips, the mint sauce was one the best I've tasted. We ordered 2 large bottles of Kingfisher, and for mains my friend went for the Chicken Jalfreizi and I went for the Chicken Manchoozi, side dishes of Keema Naan and steamed rice. Both our chicken dishes were excellent. I'd never had Manchoozi before, but I can highly recommend it, if you're a fan of Naga curry, this one had the added ingredient of what tasted like lemongrass which worked very well. A great meal and the service was excellent.

Haven't been to Gopals for a while, but noticed a big change the minute we walked thru the door the staff all had beaming smiles on their faces. Was shown to a table straight away, and two seconds later 2 large chilled bottles of Kingfisher lager arrived at our table. The service was super fast and very efficient. We ordered 2 plain poppadoms, which came with the usual variety of dips, the mint sauce was very spicy and had a nice kick. For our mains, my friend ordered a Chicken Jalfreizi and I went for the Chicken Manchoozi, with sides of Keema Naan and steamed rice. The curry was excellent, the Manchoozi was basically a Naga curry with what tasted like a hint of lemongrass, the two combined together very well and it was spicy. My friend also gave a thumbs up to his Jalfreizi.

Outright this place seemed a bit discrimatory towards browns, I had high hopes from the service since its based in Soho and have a nice rating, but all my expectations went in vain when I walked in the door, the person (Himself was a person of colour) who greeted us felt like was looking down on us just because we were brown and was greeting with full joy to the group of whites behind us. He took his joly time to bring us water and taking our order and in the end when they were giving everyone paper towels, they just didn't to us. The food was delectable which I can't lie, but the staff attitude towards us and the service was horrid. We ordered Dal Makhani, Kadai Paneer, Chilli cheese naan and Garlic naan. I loved all of them but just the portion felt a bit less, which i guess was because the restaurant was decently priced in the middle of Soho. I wouldn't recommend this place just because of the staff. They need to have some sort of sensitivity training.

My English boyfriend who moved to the US raves about UK Indian food all the time. We met up with my cousin in SoHo and decided to try this place on a whim. To say our experience was anything but exceptional would be wrong. From the food, to the variety of the menu, to the staff (our personal favorite part), this was not only the best Indian food I’ve had but also the most hospitable dining experience. Authentic Indian food in the US is hard to come by so my judgement may be a bit skewed, but all 6 of us truly enjoyed our meals. All of our dishes were outstanding and we truly felt like family to our servers. Yes, the portions are a bit smaller than usual but the food absolutely packs enough flavor to fill you. A long standing Indian restaurant we were delighted it surveyed the pandemic - I had my first meal here 30 years ago. The restaurant has been completely refurbished and the menu expanded with a good choice for everyone including vegetarian. It felt like the restaurant has changed hands recently as none of the old team were in evidence though we were looked after by the young staff. We had a selection of mains and sides (think chicken tikka, chana masala, roti, rice and nan) and everything we ate was enjoyable and freshly cooked. Including a beer each the bill came to a reasonable £120 for 3. If you like Indian food and find yourself in Soho this place is worth a visit (in a side street off Dean St).

This is our go to restaurant whenever we visit London now. It is so welcoming and comfortable with great food and service. Upon arrival we were ushered to our table which was close to the bar, but an excellent little corner to enjoy the evening in. We booked the table for 4 about a week earlier so as not to be disappointed if we just turned up and there was no tables left for us. The menu is good, not vast as it does not need to be, but it has all of the old favourites listed with a few chefs specialities added also. Just right. Drinks service was prompt and polite. We chose 3 x bhuna prawn on puree starters which were absolutely delicious. They were a bit different to a standard one, as the chef had added a very delicate spice to increase the flavour which was bursting with oomph. Our other chosen starter was an onion bhagee which I am told was " just beautiful ". Our mains consisted of a chicken madras which was a different play on the bog standard one. It was so tasty and well executed by the chef. Two of us had a dip with our naan bread into the one bowl and agreed with my wife who had ordered this that it was lovely. Two of our dishes were chicken manchoozi which was a more spicy dish and again I can only say they were just perfect in their flavour. The taste was just so right and left a slight spiciness in your mouth for a little while after eating. Beautiful dishes the both of us agreed that opted for this. The last choice was a chicken tikka masalla which again I was told was just right, very tasty and fresh with again a slightly different take on this old favourite. Rices and breads all great also. The waiting on team were great. If you have a bit banter they will react to this, if you do not have much craic I think they stay just a bit staid as we noticed on adjacent tables. As I say ours was great, he looked after us very well and a bill of £185 for 4 with marvellous food and service in the west end of London with 8 drinks and a 3 course meal was excellent value. We will be back.

I had the vindaloo which was honestly not that spicy even though I asked for indian spicy, but it was very flavourful and had a few potatoes too (which very rarely happens when I order vindaloo, unfortunately..). My wife had the tikka masala and it was suuuper good and tasty. Highly recommend it. It was also mildly spicy, I’d say about the same as vindaloo (so not very spicy..). The highlight for me was the garlic naan: super fluffy and tasty. Loved it!

Tried their Chicken Manchoozi and prawns in poori. Excellent preparations, quite different from the usual chicken and prawns preparations. Quick and efficient service.

Recently ate in this lovely restaurant as a group of 6 after a long day of work. I can honestly say, having eaten in many Indian restaurants across the UK and London that this is up there with the best. All 6 of us agreed that it was really nice food. I order a chicken Jalfrezi as a way to compare and this was up there with the best. Beautifully balanced heat and flavour. Highly recommended.

We had a decent Indian dinner here, quite a good variety on the menu. We were just expecting something more for the prices. The portion sizes could have been a little bigger and the service a bit quicker.

Super conseil pour goûter les saveurs indiennes vécues au Kerala . Un voyage sensoriel. Cuisine fine fraîche. On est ravi on reviendra et conseille. Adorable aux petits soins.

👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 The worst service I have ever received.. I have visited restaurants all over the world but I have never seen worse service than the one I received in this restaurant.. This is the first and last time I visit this very bad restaurant.. I do not recommend it at all.. The food is good but this does not excuse it that they serve us with this bad and poor mentality 👎🏻👎🏻
