Disorganised flow, very long wait, the staff has no clue what they are doing. The flavour is just disappointing as this is nothing like Taiwanese fried chicken. It just fried everything in sweeten batter. Never again.

Really good chicken, but honestly I wouldn’t stand in the queue that long for it again.

We ordered the popcorn chicken and the volcanic cheesy chicken. We had to wait 10 minutes for the popcorn chicken and 25 !!! minutes for the volcanic cheesy chicken. It tastes good at first but is too salty and after a while the grease of the food made us queasy. Had to throw away most of the volcanic cheesy chicken. The employee preparing the final packages and seasoning the food was the only person who paid attention to our order which was forgotten in the first place. His attention was the only upside. Ottimo pollo fritto a Chinatown Sono stato in questa friggitoria con la mia ragazza in occasione di una vacanza a Londra. Il locale si trova all'interno di Chinatown non distante da Leicester Square. L'interno non è molto ampio, è disponibile giusto un piccolo bancone per poter consumare il cibo acquistato ma l'alta densità di clienti rende questa cosa molto difficile quindi conviene mangiare per strada. Noi abbiamo preso i "lollipop chicken" e i "pop-corn chicken" che abbiano trovato buonissimi. Per ogni ordine si può scegliere la spezia da aggiungere. Ogni cosa viene fritta al momento e la croccantezza è fantastica. I prezzi sono onesti per le porzioni generose che vengono servite.

Definitely worth the TikTok hype! The staff were friendly and did not waste time with service, very efficient. I went for the popcorn chicken with chill and garlic seasoning. It hit the spot for me! My only feedback would be for them to have a queuing system especially when it is busy as it was confusing trying to figure out where the line began and where it ended once you enter the shop.

Great Chicken Popcorn. It's a place that was hidden to me till I saw it. And then I have been there at least 5 times since. I go there for the chicken popcorn. The taste is divine and the potion size is nice. The spice on the same is the process by which they give you free rein in adding the spice powders. They can add only 3 by themselves. But, you are free to add as much as you want. I frankly added Chilli, Garlic, Kimchi, Special and Wasabi. But, they have lot more available. Go in and find your own taste .

Overprice overhyped by tiktok. Rude staff.

Went to check out the place due to the hype and good reviews - could not be more disappointed. Chicken was tough chewy and fatty, the spices very uninspiring, did not even finish it.

Ordered the popcorn chicken with chilli and garlic seasoning. Went in the evening, the queue was short, service efficient and helpful staff. The coating was crispy but chicken dry inside unfortunately. Seasoning was recommended by staff as the most popular. Wasn’t really to my liking. Decent popcorn chicken but very much over hyped. Perhaps the fried chicken breast or thigh would have been a better option

This place is super popular and busy so it was quite overwhelming to go in here on an evening one time, but I eagerly wanted to try their fried chicken options for a long while so finally went. I chose their chicken nuggets. For around £6, it was worth the money. You get quite a lot in there with 2 nuggets per skewer and the seaweed topping added the extra saltiness. Loved the fried skin and chicken was lovely. I ordered their bubble tea on a separate occasion in the past. If you’re looking for good quality bubble tea, then this isn’t the place for that. Pearls were hard and the taro milk tea was very atypical of the usual branches. Orders do take a while to arrive so be mindful when you visit. If you come here, the chicken is worth more than the bubble tea.

Amazing fried popcorn chicken and you can choose your own flavourings on top (at least 10 different one that you can mix and match). Personally I always go for plum, lemon and seaweed. It’s always busy as well which you mean you need to wait but the chicken is always fresh.

I think this place would become my regular whenever I visit chinatown. Got chicken popcorn - crispy outside, soft inside- loved it! Highly recommend topping it with their kimchi powder for that extra chilly kick.

We ordered the first menu and I really loved the chicken breast the popcorn chicken was also good but not as much I aspected. The breast surprised me and I would eat it again. The means is also a a reasonable price for so much chicken.

I was advised by friends who visited London, to go to Chinatown and visit Good Friend Chicken. Indeed, the place is worth visiting. You can tell it is a popular place by the people waiting outside to enter. The food - amazing taste, good choice of food. The Service - very good The atmosphere - ah, the atmosphere... You have to be there to feel it. There is nothing like entering an overcrowded small street food place, ordering your food, and waiting, while your brain is relaxing on the background noises of people ordering, food frying in the nearby pans and the whole place just bubbly and live. I would definitely recommend it.

Without doubt the best popcorn chicken I’ve ever had. Bit on the pricy side at £7 but a good serving size. Try the garlic and chilli seasoning!

Definitely recommend if you want a quick snack while walking around Chinatown. My partner and I saw this go viral on Tik Tok and gave it a go and we’re not disappointed. It’s fast food that is tasty, made fresh to order and very popular so be prepared to wait - We waited about 10-15 mins for our popcorn chicken which was delicious and a good sized portion - definitely will be back for more as other customers food looked splendid too Only rated atmosphere 3 stars because the shop is small and very busy, (due to popularity) so be prepared to queue for a while before ordering and getting your food.

My wife is mad at me because I fell in love with the chicken. That is a reason I should give one star but nah, the food here gave me a foodgasm. The intense amount of flavour when the spices first touch your tongue.. The crispiness of the crust when it touches your teeth.. The tenderness of the meat embracing your mouth.. And then.. and then.. the explosion of the cheese to round up an amazing experience overall. How can I forget this? Anyway, my wife's calling me so I gotta go. Just go there and eat

Really upset :(( I’ve been wanting to try this chicken for years so decided to order with Uber eats for a nighttime snack. Was really excited to try until me and my boyfriend bit into our chicken nuggets and saw they were raw :( I double checked to see if possibly mistaken for thigh meat but definitely raw :( I tried to call them but can’t get through to them so left an email. I went on TikTok to see if others chicken looked the same incase I was being dramatic and all theirs looked perfectly cooked white and fibrous :( I’m really sad

Okay so the food tastes food but hygienically it is not the place you wanna go. It is so damn oily that we had to throw away food and I hail from India which consumes oil so it's not like I can't take it but that was so damn oily that I could still get 3-4 drops of oil on every lotus root chip. I threw it garbage bcoz waste of money while preserving myself from a bad cholesterol kick.

I know there is a big hype about his fried chicken but trust me its not worth it. If you really fancy eating it then only go for chicken breast nothing else.

I have to admit had to see what the hype was all about and it lived up to it. The popcorn chicken was so crispy and flavorful. I got the chili garlic which was yummy. Only downside on about this place is it’s small, crowded and the staff was so impatient and kinda rude, but maybe understandable because it gets really busy. Also didn’t like how because I ordered the gizzards which isn’t a popular item constantly cooking I had to wait over a half hour for it. But if you order the popular items it comes out pretty quick.

Great value fried chicken between Leicester Sq and Chinatown. Good budget option but unfortunately a victim of its own success, often packed outside with people waiting for their order - over half an hour for me most recently on a Saturday evening, so its definitely not fast food! Plus it's hard to hear the order number being called out as you wait in a crowd outside! How about a loudspeaker and or a display showing which order has been called?

Crikey. Where do I begin? This used to be soo good! Went today, got something vegetarian, to my surprise in the bag was also squid & chicken, I didn’t eat the rest. If you’re 100% veggie/vegan, defo don’t eat here, I highly doubt they’re using separate fryers & mixing bowls for the seasoning.

Tried the popcorn chicken (£7) with Thai and Seaweed seasoning - absolutely delicious. We were on a street food hunt around China town and tried several things from different places. At the end of it we wished that we'd stuck with the popcorn chicken and saved us from trying the other (disappointing) eats around China town. Would definitely come back here again.

Trying Good friend chicken (Ji Chicken) in China Town- there was along queue but went down quickly. Super friendly. We got the popcorn chicken. Crispy and soft. Good quality and all fresh. 100% would recommend!

Long queue to order, but pretty quick service after. They recommend chili and garlic for flavoring, and chicken was definitely worth the wait.

Had to wait ages for a Volcano Cheese Chicken Steak. Popcorn chicken came out cold. Volcano Cheese Chicken Steak was burnt and inedible, had to remove the crust, the chicken was awfully chewy. Regular chicken steak, the batter was so thick it wasn't cooked through properly, there was a layer of mushy uncooked batter right before the chicken, had to remove it as it was inedible as well which then left another piece of chewy chicken. Seasoning would've been nice if it was even, you'd get one patch of immense taste then a patch of nothing. Very disappointed, was not worth the wait. Not sure that all the hype is about. Have had and definitely tried places far better than here.

Waited 40 minutes for the driest, most rubbery chicken I've ever eaten. Karaage was cold when it was handed to me, and when I complained they just refried the same pieces. No flavour, just dusted in some seasoning after being fried. No idea why this place is so popular. Just terrible.

A friend showed us good friend chicken and we couldn't wait to come back. So tasty and worth the wait. All the extra flavours are free and you can try new ones every time. The lemon honey tea is one of the most delicious drinks I've ever had. Worth coming back every time.

I would first like to state that I first came to good friend after covid, to which I discovered it to be my new favourite eat. However, after ordering many times, I was left with undercooked, slimy, pink kaarage chicken about a year ago. I work in the food industry in chinatown, and I had purchased this chicken during my break. By the time i got back to my workplace to eat it. I noticed that the chicken was incredibly undercooked. With only 5 minutes left of my break, I had to rush back to the establishment to tell them the chicken was undercooked and I had showed it to the woman. The woman tells me that it is “cooked” and “normal”. This was very disappointing that this was the answer I was given, because even my other coworkers had told me that it was undercooked chicken. I didn’t have much time left on my break, so I didn’t have time to argue back for a refund. I then became a frequent customer of the other Ji chicken branches, to which I was satisfied. I ended up being in chinatown again last week, and decided to give the branch another chance. I ordered the volcano chicken. I then left the branch once I had received my order and walked to another place. The first bite was fine, cooked chicken. However, I was once again met with undercooked, slimy pink chicken. This time I wasn’t near the branch to complain properly. This is not me trying to hurt the branch, but this could’ve turned into food poisoning if I had not stopped eating both the kaarage chicken and the volcanic chicken. I hope you investigate into the cooking process of your chicken, as I am massively disappointed with the fact that I have been given very undercooked chicken twice.

Yes there was a long queue but if you’re not in a rush, it’s worth the wait :) The popcorn chicken with the chili and garlic seasoning was pretty tasty and a great snack while wandering Chinatown for more bites. The workers were friendly and calm despite the wave of customers.

The place does not offer any dine in, you can take your food and eat outside the store standing, it took nearly 30 mins for my order to get ready. They have a wide range of seasonings like wasabi, chilli, plum, lime, garlic, tomato, etc. we can choose upto 3 toppings on each dish. I tried the crab meat sticks, they dont have the texture of crab meat and are soggy. I did not enjoy the crab much. The fried chicken skin is good enough and amazingly crispy, the crispy coating dominated the skin taste though. The chicken breast and popcorn meal were amazing, the portion was good size. Two people can snack on the breast and popcorn meal.

Second time visiting this place as I enjoyed the food previously whilst in London. Unfortunately this time the food was greasy and bland with not much seasoning. I also found the chicken meat to be grizzly, fatty and also greasy. Wouldn't visit again soon however might try it again in future.

Been here a few times now with my boyfriend and I have to say every time the food was tasty. Service was friendly but since there's always a queue therefore there's always a long wait. We really enjoy the chicken popcorn and the chicken skins, however not a big fans of the signature Taiwanese chicken breast or the volcanic cheesy chicken beast. Personally I found the cheesy volcanic one a bit unappetizing, but not bad overall.

Loved the popcorn chicken. I am curious though how often the oils are change. Say No when asked if you want a bag. You don't need one. And they gave me a very dirty, used bag. And don't forget it has an extra charge.

The food itself is delicious, and they have lots of options to season the chicken that you get to choose. Service is as fast and they can make it, the kitchen is small and the are working non stop, but they are very popular so you will probably wait a bit, but not too much. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic little shop. The food is delicious and you have a wide choice of extra seasonings. It's a really good price for central London. The queue was out the door but staff still worked hard and were friendly. Not a bad waiting time as well considering there were around 20 people ahead of us. I can't wait to return.

Great karage chicken and flavours. Pricey now it's insta famous but it's good. Queuing and ticket calling could be better as everyone just packs the shop out waiting, but guess that's part of the experience.

Can’t lie, I saw this place online on social media and everyone was saying how great it was but I was heavily disappointed. The popcorn chicken was so dry and hardly flavourful even with the seasoning on , and the staff were laughing at customers. Won’t recommend it

Not particularly blown away. There’s always a pretty big queue so I thought the fried chicken would be spectacular. Can’t say I enjoyed the seasoning, it felt over seasoned and almost like a Chinese soup cheap type of seasoning.

Tastiest fried lotus root and tofu I’ve ever had. You get ti pick the spices/flavor toppings you want to add to your fried stuff. Fried chicken was ready in mere minutes but the veg stuff took over 10-15 minutes to be ready. Glad we tried this place in Chinatown, loved it.
