Great time, friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere, what more could you want?

Food was simply incredible. Gave me more chips than ever expected. Would definitely go again. The art decor around was great too. Music was lots of R&B which suited the place down to the ground. Some of the guys I was with did say it was too hot in there but I was fine. Really good service too and portions are massive and priced really well too.

Disgraceful, the security decided to pick out our female mate for no reason so she was out by herself, which is disgusting as she shouldn't be out by herself, the security needs to take a good solid look at themselves. Aswell as the managers who hire then. Very disappointing and shameful, won't be going back

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gonzo's, and I have to say, Betsy absolutely made the experience unforgettable. From the moment we were seated, her warmth and attention to detail were evident. She went above and beyond to ensure every part of our meal was perfect—whether it was recommending dishes, checking in at just the right moments, or making us feel like we were her top priority, Betsy’s service was nothing short of outstanding. Her enthusiasm and genuine care for her guests truly set the tone for the entire evening. It's rare to encounter service this exceptional, and because of Betsy, our time at Gonzo's felt truly special. Highly recommend requesting her the next time you're there—she’s a gem!

Easy to miss if you dont know where it is This is a fantastic little place to visit if you want the best chicken wings and burgers in the city. The franks red hot sauce and the salt and pepper chicken wings are amazing and if you go before 6pm you can get a 2 for 1 deal on them. Burgers here are also fantastic and the buffalo fries to go with them are really nice if you like a bit of extra kick. Amazing atmosphere and off-the-wall 80s/90s nostalgia. Can be loud sometimes but has a really nice vibe and energy if you like a more lively atmosphere.

The witty cafe des artistes interior was further enhanced by Halloween decoration in this great bar, which, though located in the town centre, feels hidden away. Great kitchen, the chicken wings were delicious and two for one before six. Couldn't stay, but there was a DJ night in the clubroom, and the roof garden was open. Great evening. I knew I'd been to Gonzo's before but had no idea where it was !

Gonzo’s is great for a fun night out! Gonzostworoom upstairs is such a nice little club - the sound system is good, it’s a great place for a dance!

EDIT: The food makes this a must-visit. I have previously been to Brix and Bones upstairs and paid £75 for a meal; Gonzo's is effectively that good at a much more affordable price point - about £25 a head. Please keep this quality. Very satisfied. Friendly staff too, service took about 40 minutes or so but I think we came in at a busy time. Make sure you book ahead. On a nice summer evening the rooftop at Gonzos is the place to be. It has developed a lot since the last time I visited in 2018 and clearly a lot of care goes into the place. The inside is very cosy and stylish, and hosts live music regularly. The door staff and bar staff are friendly and I have no complaints whatsoever.

Humongous portions and super delicious. was disappointed with my stomach for not being able to finish! only knew about this place from looking for somewhere to eat on the maps and this quirky little place was massively appreciated. I had a jam and peanut burger which i have never seen on any menu before. atmosphere was amazing and there was plenty to look at, certainty be returning and telling people about this place. Recently returned and didn’t share the same experience as before, same burger still delicious but the chips were not great, they were cold and soggy (like the Mc Donald’s chips that had been ordered and hadn’t been made fresh)

Best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had.

Had heard a lot of good things about this place, so tried it out with a group of friends. First impressions were interesting as it's quite an eclectic venue. Our waitress came over with quite a 'party' vibe encouraging drinks, but it didn't quite match the atmosphere of a Saturday lunch time. We ordered food and waited a little while for it to turn up, and all in all things were decent. The food was all hot and tasty, but I wouldn't say anything blew us away. When it came time to pay, the same waitress did make a comment about most ordering soft drinks which slightly annoyed the group. Slightly weird sense of judgement, which didn't feel all that welcoming or something we'd be in a rush to return to. Prices were about as you'd expect nowadays, around £20-25pp with a £10% service charge added as default to the bill (though not mandatory if you can handle the awkward conversation to remove it). I'd say if you're looking for the burger and fries combo and have access to a car, Zaks can provide the same sort of thing with more of a wow factor (and probably slightly cheaper too). Wouldn't discourage anyone from trying Gonzo's though, as it might have just not been for us...

Staff were brilliant, atmosphere great too. It was nice being somewhere a little quirky. Food wasn’t that good though. We ordered one of the bbq platters, food was Luke warm at best and the meat was dry. Gutted that the mac n cheese didn’t really have much cheese & it was dry Mac not in a sauce. The chicken wings were amazing, Texas toast yummy & drinks great. But the staff took onboard my feedback & gave me a discount. So I’d definitely come back & maybe try a burger.

Absolutely lush meal on the roof top at Gonzos! The food had a great naughty selection where I chose a platter option having BBQ ribs, brisket and Frank's wings. All the food tasted great and I highly recommend it. The staff where extremely cool people too, I will be going back.

Went for lunch last saturday.we booked and we're glad we did as it was busy. The food was first class, I had a delicious artichoke dip that was huge as well as poutine. The staff were friendly and helpful. They adjusted the menu for a friend plus made special cocktails not on the menu. Thank you so much. We will return!

4 of us were in Norwich to celebrate Norwich Pride. We came here to eat but was told there's a table of 20 so you can either get a drink and wait or eat else where? Can your restaurant not handle more then 20 guests at a time? Or is it because we were gay? As we were told you can get pizza next door if you want to eat quickly? Sorry.. shall not bother coming back here again.

Great quirky bar dog friendly and great music

Ive been going here for years and never had any issues until tonight where my mrs drink had zero alcohol (literally just ice and flat coke). The bartender then decided to come over and get arsey about it ,made another drink and said that it was the coke that was masking the alcohol. Anyone who has ever drank will know that coke doesn’t completely mask the alcohol taste. They then put the wrong fries with one of our meals which wasn't a huge issue as we just swapped them and all was okay. But when i went to pay i refused the service charge as we’re not in America, there should be no expectation to pay that. The waitress then became very rude and blunt, we even heard them talking rudely about is on out way out which is very poor and unprofessional behaviour. Ive always been happy to pay the service charge there as the service is usually good and but this time i was very disappointed. Unless someone has provided a kind and enjoyable service during a meal then i shouldn't be expected to pay a service charge of 11.5% just for doing their job.

Amazing atmosphere. The staff and owner are always really friendly and take time to talk. Great selection of cocktails, spirits and Beer. Food never disappoints.

Paid £12 for a pineapple daiquiri that was neither pineapple in content or flavour, nor was it a daiquiri by basic definition of a daiquiri

Came here as a group of 6. Ordered from the new barbecue menu. Went for the 2 meats with barbecue beans,macaroni cheese,and texas toast(which isn't toast), which 2 of us shared. We got redneck fries as a side each. As a starter, we received a dish of buffalo wings, which I assume came as part of the meal ,as we did not order them. The sauce was nice and had a bit of spice, but not like other buffalo sauce I've had elsewhere. When th e meal arrived, the main and sdes both arrived on shallow meatal trays. There are plenty of fries,and they have a nice flavour, but they are a bit salty. The main isn't massive, and more than manageable by one, without the sides. The meats come from a choice of 4. Went for the park belly and ribs. Both were nice and well cooked. You get 2 thin slices of belly pork and around 6 ribs. The barbecue beans were nice and had an interesting flavour. The macaroni cheese didn't really have any cheese sauce. Neither portion is overly large. All in all, we were happy with what we had, but think that I might have felt a bit cheated if not for the sides.

Absolutely brilliant and amazing place to eat in Norwich. The food is delicious, the decor is fascinating and the staff are wonderful. They made us feel so welcome on our first visit, we can't wait to go back again.

I’m not exactly fussy when it comes to burgers however I do usually end up regretting ordering them but not here! Wow! We also visited another time and had the Nachos for our main which were also amazing. Drinks menu is great with lots of choice! Interior is beautiful and really adds to the atmosphere.

Everything is served on metal trays. Everyone said the food was nice but the table was a bit cramped and seemed a bit dark up the corner.

The staff are friendly and helpful, the food is amazing and in huuuge abundance. More than enough for most people (the right amount for me 😉). My kids love it and they eat ridiculous amounts of food, which they will rarely do anywhere else. If this isn't an endorsement then I don't know what is. 6 stars for Gonzo's!

If you're looking for something a little different then I highly recommend Gonzo's.

Card only business, rude staff (not including the door staff who were polite and friendly) flat lager, exchanged for more larger after the barrel was changed,only to go flat in 10 mins, the only reason why we stayed was because we had bought tickets for the act of the evening, which were excellent.

Best security and best bar staff in Norwich with regards to actually mixing drinks well. Owners are friendly and consistently show genuine care for the atmosphere they desire and this seasons winter menu just nailed it! Lovely mix of smokey southern and cajun spices to euro influences and always seasoned well, venue has true American and Canadian flavour profiles only negative is be wary of student nights and a younger crowd if you have proximity issues. Downstairs early resident DJ on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Plays a perfect mix of eclectic songs, hip hop, house, psy trance, dub, rock, indie and rnb to warm you up for a night over dinner. Security are veterans and fair and treat people with respect and very proffesional. Gonzos is The only place I go in Norwich for a consistent vibe at a level far above other venues. Plenty of options over three floors depending on your mood. Western dive bar\Lounge feels downstairs, house and club nights on the mid floor and summer tiki bar style fun on the roof. Hope this place stays around forever. Because for anyone 30s plus it's a good crowd and a fun time with very little getting past the professional and vigilante door staff. Definitely my home bar and would recommned as the place to go in Norwich if you like to dance, dont mind proximity and enjoy good drinks and food. If youre lucky and polite you may even be able to meet Goose. 🐾🐕

We went in with our kids after an escape room on Sunday around 5pm, started looking at the menus only to notice they had some gory vampire horror movie playing on the wall, our kids 8 and 12 kinda looked a bit shocked but they noticed us hiding it from our kids and immediately changed the movie to something more appropriate! We all had vege options, burgers, cauliflower wings, and Mac and cheese. All of it was excellent, really good burgers, all with a ridiculous amount of chips! If I had to mention one minor thing, the chips had a slight spice to them which meant our fussy child refused to eat them, so maybe it might we worth warning parents they're a bit spicy and if there's a bland option for fussy kids! They are delicious though, our kid is clearly just wrong! The uneaten mac and cheese was boxed up so fussy child will be having that tonight!

On a Monday night, spent £35 for 4 drinks, all of them are sprits mixed with soft drink, the most impressive one was a single rum with coke cola costs me £10, I was shocked by the price so decided to leave. Another day when I complained about the price raising to couple friends, realized those drinks not supposed to be that expensive. It's upsetting because I liked their environment, but I will also remember always check the price before I tape my card.

Visiting Gonzo's for the first time was totally amazing, the atmosphere is one of the best, if not the best I've ever experienced, and the drinks were really nice too. The tunes were brilliant, with lots of classics from different decades being played, and the door staff and bar staff were really friendly. Can't wait until my next visit to Norwich so I can visit Gonzo's again!

Paid for 5 people for Nye hardly drunk anything and the security guard didn't let us in; absolutely gutted the people behind us were pissed out there heads and got in felt like an attack on us. Very disappointed in Gonzo was really looking forward to this night out but hey ho Karmer cafe down the road let us is, brilliant night would recommend.

I spent over £100 on tickets for the bouncer to tell me I’m too drunk for tickets when I haven’t drunk anything and I was perfectly fine to go right next door. Completely ruined our night felt completely judged

The place has wonderful, a bit silly here ans there, decor. The staff are friendly and are passionate about the food and drinks that they create.

Food is good, nice quirky place, slightly on the expensive side. Service however is alright if you like miserable...waitress didn't smile at any point very much here's your food eat it, then expecting to recieve a service charge. When we asked for the service charge to be removed, i would of got a better reception if i had killed gonzo the pug. Can't recommend for this reason.

Really delicious food! Service was absolutely fantastic, and our server made sure to explain exactly what was and wasn't vegetarian. He also made sure we got vegetarian sweets with our bill at the end which was a lovely touch. Thanks!

Oversold an event i went to and bouncers were chucking out random people for no reason atall. Heard of multiple people having problems with the staff and bouncers there. Such a shame as its a decent venue but run by absolute air heads. Shant be stepping foot or spending another penny in there again and i urge others not to aswel.

We left after we heard a member of staff make inappropriate comments about a woman being 18 and legal for a b3ating. Regardless of the context it’s just not appropriate using those kinds of words. No way we’d give our custom after hearing this. Gross.

Jen was a real stand out and the reason we always come back, always so friendly, and helpful. Everytime me and my friends come to Gonzos she always greets us with the best smile and service. Will be coming back again soon 🙏

Bartender Jennifer is exactly what Gonzo's should look for at the recruitment stage, her customer service skills can only be matched by her smile. Any drink we have ordered was served promptly and always with a smile.

This quirky pub has a grown up, bijoux student feel. We sat downstairs for after work drinks but it felt food was prioritised so if you just want drinks, it didn't feel like the place. We were told that if we weren't eating, we had to move. And the menu was reeled off before drinks orders were taken.

This is a great bar! Sadly the roof top was not open, a bit of a disappointment given the great weather. Drinks 4 out 5 pretty good.

Love this place but it is expensive. Rooftop is amazing, especially in the summer. Just need a fat wallet for a night out!
