We visited for the first time and were really impressed. The staff are friendly and the cafe is a lovely, clean and relaxed environment. We had afternoon tea, which was all fresh and there was plenty of it. The cakes were beautiful and well worth the price. We will definatley be visiting again!

We hired the function room for a family 80th birthday party. Cost of room hire was very reasonable. We could not fault the communication during the organisation - and helpfulness of Jane - nothing was too much trouble - even when adding extra guests the day before !!! We chose the Singer menu - could not fault anything - plenty of food. On teh day, staff - Megan, Tammy & Jo were brilliant - again -every request was managed, bar and food service was excellent. This is the second celecbration we have held at the Gongoozler, and hopefully many more. Thanks everyone for making it a memorable afternoon for the Birthday Girl!!!

A super location overlooking the canal. However our experience was less than satisfactory. The tea we ordered came quickly and was a good brew, but we had to go looking for our food order after waiting for 30 minutes in a not busy cafe. The bacon bap was fine, but my toasted tea cake was awful. It was so dried out no amount of butter would soften it. Other food that came out for others looked good though.

Comfortable café in interesting setting - shame about the food. We were here with children before a canal boat trip and were dismayed at the paucity of choice and long queue. I eventually got a sausage roll - no evidence of sausage - and the children had tasteless sandwiches on truly awful bread. Plus point - the chips were good. Why not offer a few, well-cooked, authentic Black Country delicacies - e.g. faggots and pays, grorty pudding? Very disappointing.

The Gongoozler is usually very good but my friend had the scone which was more like a small biscuit. It was very hot and hard so possibly defrosted in the microwave for too long. Not like the scones there used to be so perhaps need a recipe/size/baker review. My friend didn't say anything at the time otherwise I'd have mentioned it to the staff who are always very approachable and helpful

Lovely friendly place. A small lunch menu but everything we ordered was lovely, fresh, and the staff were happy to make changes. It’s a beautiful spot overlooking the canal tunnel tours and also the back of the Black Country living museum. The weather was beautiful so we were able to enjoy the spacious balcony but the inside was rustic and comfortable with plenty of space. Dudley is terrible about advertising its gems to encourage tourists. This is one of them and we will definitely be coming back. Reasonably priced meals and clean toilets too.

Lovely friendly staff, lovely coffee and delicious cake . Restaurant looks wonderful. Service was very good . However, it is not at all dog friendly . We had to sit in an area with tables with rusty broken umbrellas and near noisy fans pumping out kitchen fumes. Had a disabled person with us so needed a table . Please consider allowing dogs on the balcony overlooking the canal . This is no where near food. Most places have dog friendly areas these days . Please please consider it!

My daughter and Son in law held their wedding reception here. The Gongoozler also provided the buffet of the evening, which was excellent. I could not promote this venue enough. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the place is clean and tidy. We visit regular for meals, entertainment and canal boat rides which are worth every penny. Plus, it's a charity that's striving to keep the history of the Black Country and it's association with the canals alive for future generations. Also, if you're disabled like myself, it is ideal for us guys. So, go and have a look, I'll doubt you won't want to keep going again and again after the first visit.

The disabled lift was broken when we went but I'm sure it will be fixed soon. To tell the truth we did have to wait a while but the food was beautiful. Menu consists mainly of hot and cold cobs ( bread rolls ) with the options for sides. Hot and cold drinks available too. Can get busy and limited seating available. Gongoozler means someone who sits and watching boats go by and the canal is visible from the cafe. The bacon sausage and tomato cob was the best I have had in a long time! £20 for 4 meals and drinks was a fair price.

I visited quite early on a weekend morning with family for coffee and a quick lunch. Lots of the tables were reserved for Sunday lunch but there were notices on the tables saying when they needed to be free from which was helpful. We ordered coffees, sandwiches and a jacket potato, which were brought out quickly and were tasty. There's a nice view out over the canal and the Black Country Museum, especially with the sun shining. My only criticism is that there didn't seem to be a sandwich option for a young child to have for lunch, at least on the day we visited I couldn't see one. The main menu has children's meals but they're all cooked options (pizza, nuggets, sausages, etc) that my little one wouldn't eat. They may do a kid's lunch box option in the week but we visited on a Sunday so it may not have been available then.

Attended for prebooked afternoon tea with a friend, in the middle of a weekday. We waited at the til for attention on arrival for a considerably long time despite two girls working there having seen me and not doing anything. A young lad came out and politelt directed us to the table, asked whether we would like tea/coffee. Less than 5 minutes later out came a large pot of tea and a 3 tier afternoon tea selection. The girl that brought it out put it on the table with no explanation of what was on it and left. It turned out to be ham sandwiches and cheese and onion sandwiches (not quite what you usually get). It also included 4 scones, 2 chocolate cake, 2 carrot cake and 2 slices of lemon cake. The scones were terribly dry, and the lemon cake burnt. The staff unfortunately lack skills in customer service, and the quality of the food is poor. The setting is however lovely, and I am happy to have supported the Trust in some way.

Proper old school pub with a great range of beers - both brewed by the in-house brewery and a good range of others. Outside area comfortable with plenty of space and covered areas.
